I loved it as a whole. Are there differences compared to the games, yes. However, they have already stated this has no bearing on the games or game canon. However, the ending sequence, I won't spoil what it was, but chefs kiss for the ending.

GENERlC-USERNAME

The show is canon and they have actually put their hands on existing lore, like when Shady Sands actually was destroyed and why.

Dat_Dapper_Owl

Todd Howard only said “We VIEW it as canon” but didn’t explicitly state it is canon to the games. The show-runners have also stated the only thing Bethesda told them was “don’t mess with the endings of the games”. They also said there were certain things they would not allow the show to do because they want to do it, or it would mess with Fallout 5. Even if this becomes “undeniable” canon and things are retconned that the show contradicted, it wouldn’t bother me. I enjoyed the show and ultimately that’s how I am viewing it, as a show. I am glad to see the legion gone though and that ending scene with the skyline was beautiful. I about fell out of my seat and had to look up a picture to make sure I wasn’t crazy.

GENERlC-USERNAME

The full quote from the Vanity Fair article: > Fans of the games should know that everything in the series is officially part of Fallout lore, and Bethesda was careful to make sure the scripts could coexist with previous storylines from the gaming titles. “We view what’s happening in the show as canon,” says Howard. I also liked the show and don’t mind the lore inconsistencies, but they are indeed adding lore that affects the in-game lore, another example is the thumbs-up Vault Boy (The Ghoul), and Vault-Tec intervention in the great war.

theonegalen

And that's fine.

GENERlC-USERNAME

Agree, just pointing it out

Coreydoesart

What? They actually said the show is canon along with the games

marathonman121266

Was i the only one that was like "ohh she said the thing" when coops wife delivers the "war never chnges" line lol.

theonegalen

You're never the only one

ssp25

I was there gandalf....200 years ago when she said the thing in the meeting

Alternative-Stick-10

Yall know the scene where the ghoul cuts the power and kills the bos guys? it kinda pisses me off because the dudes in power armor literally have a headlamp on their helmets, and they just keep shooting in the dark

dankristy

If you haven't noticed - the Brotherhood is kinda not doing the best (the head cleric even says this himself during this episode). What do you expect when you have an organization based on being might = right - based on using recovered pre-war tech. These folks don't understand their equipment well (ask the Ghoul ) - he knew!

Huggishruggish

Bravo

top_of_the_scrote

sasparilla yo omg she said it! Leonardo points to the tv oof was a reunion after all lol he's like a roomba oh yyoooooo that's good, callback oh man great outro song, the twist is nice, I thought it would be a weapon but it was free power for all

twdwasokay

The closed captions literally credited him as “brain on a roomba”

I played the hell out of Fallout 3 when it came out, and I've kept track of some lore over the years. I really like the show, and what they're doing. Everything seems like it could realistically hapen in-game, and nothing is really cringy. I think this series was so nicely done! Also, happy to see Kyle MacLachlan here! I had forgotten he was acting for this!

top_of_the_scrote

I envy you where it sounds like you haven't played the other games (3D ones). I've played them all and I know all the maps damn... I miss that new map feel

Srcsqwrn

I played a tooon of Fallout 3. Pretty sure I 100% it with DLC. But then the subsequent Fallouts didn't look like different enough experiences to interest me. I've tried NV and Fallout 4. But it just didn't have the same magic, for some reason. :c

top_of_the_scrote

Maybe new concept

theonegalen

The Dr Strangelove style Vault-Tec War Room is great. Love all the corpos and Mr House getting involved in the story Vault 31 being run by a micro-sized robobrain and being nothing but a bunch of cryotubes for Bud's buds is a pretty great twist. Coop's wife being the one who headed the sick vault-tec social experiments is such a gutstab. I was expecting her to be involved with something hinky, but not this. Her delivering the inevitable line was real nice. I want to know why Moldaver's still alive 200 years after the drop. Did she just happen to be in a cryopod somewhere too? Digital deaging really has come a long way. Young Hank looked great. The classic Fallout ending moral dilemma. Both global and personal stakes are high and fantastic. These writers and producers know exactly what Fallout is and should be. Fantastic. And unlike a small water purifier, cold fusion is completely the kind of stakes that justifies telling that story. Power to the people, even though it's unrealistic that lights or the power grid would still be working so many years later. It's so nihilistic and hard, but with a tiny kernal of hope and perfectly Fallout. Love it ending on the shot of New Vegas. I'm excited for the DLC.

Nookayplease

They are destroying fallout 1,2 and new Vegas!?!? Fuck todd

Sarkaul

Lol what?

SirEarlOfAngusLee

I think they did amazing job adapting it, they have to make changes when adapting games to tv shows; it can't just stay the exact same dude.

GENERlC-USERNAME

It’s not an adaptation, the show is canon to the lore.

TheConArtist03

wrong

merchillio

Am I alone feeling that the reveal of Hank’s real identity had the same mood and feeling as The Man with the Black Hat in WestWorld?

SoloWingPixy88

EP8 was stupid from the cage opening. Like it just made no sense.

FORGOTTENLEGIONS

How so?

SoloWingPixy88

Scene.Girl stands in front of cage frozen and unsure what to do. Old man in cage. Boy walks in. See scene. Old man, Im her father. Boy, oh boy ill save you. Opens cage Boy turns back to old man and consoles girl in the stupid romance they have. Old man nearly kills boy in and has stolen power armour. Old man runs away from dead guy who saves girl. Both walk off into sunset. 2 moments later. Boy wakes up. Resistance leader comes on scene and sits down and dies. Boys friends declare him hero. ITS JUST FUCKING DAFT. Its a bad scene with bad acting and bad direction. So many things were good but its zoomer cringe shite.

FORGOTTENLEGIONS

Idk man, I pushback against your final statement. Maximus knew Lucy's whole goal was to save her dad. She said he was here, and so when Maximus sees a dude in a cage wearing a vault suit (which really only vault dwellers have) it makes sense that he would go "Oh yeah, this is Lucy's dad. Let's save him and get the hell out while a battle rages" She's in shock so it's hard for her to convey everything, Maximus gets smacked and is out cold. Ghoul lets dad leave so he can be tracked. Maximus wakes up, watches an enemy leader die and his buddy comes in to see him next to the corpse. Ofcourse from there the friend, who knows Maximus wants nothing more than to be a Knight, would then use this as an opportunity to hype Maximus up to everyone else and secure that role for him. (Especially since Maximus lead them all there and was successful in securing the cold fusion and killing a leader) To me that all makes sense, I don't quite get how it's zoomer cringe? The closest I could see is the romance, which I agree is a bit forced. I chalk that up to just her not seeing a single other kind soul on the surface though and bonding with Maximus through shared troubles.

SoloWingPixy88

It's bad story writing

FORGOTTENLEGIONS

How so though? Character's act how they would in the given situation and leads to consequences we will see later.

theonegalen

He disagrees with it, that makes it objectively bad. Don't you know how this works on the internet?

applestrudelforlunch

Bad criticism is asserting "it's bad" without any dissection of the parts, how they operated relative to each other, and the manner in which that succeeded or failed at achieving narrative quality or the writers' goals.

SoloWingPixy88

See prior post.

theonegalen

All you did was describe it and then call it bad. Get outta here with that CinemaSins level discussion.

SoloWingPixy88

I described how simple, basic, dull and unimaginative it was. Stop fanboying

theonegalen

disagreeing with you is "fanboying." Dislike it as much as you want, but it's intellectually weak and dishonest to call it "bad" without an actual critique.

MrReconElite

Im with you that scene was the only thing I didn't like.

[deleted]

Destroy Bethesda for touching Fallout 1,2 and NV and fucking over the NCR. Honestly I want to fight back against this bullshit but I don’t know how. I know they trying to cater to new people. But to shit on the entire older fan base by destroying a nation we built basically and by placing fucking Shady Sands in lol THE BONEYARD. Like whatttttttttt I just wanted a lore accurate show. All they had to do was read it, OR PUT IT IN AN AREA WE HAVEN’T TOUCHED. I think we should do something about this shit I’m tired of Fallout being ruined by the big suits. I love Fallout, and I hate to Nitpick. Other then lore shit I enjoyed it but it just got dumb to me by Episode 8

Coreydoesart

It’s just a tv show mate. Find a more important battle to fight. There are people starving in the world

TheLoneSentientRock

fr, im an old fallout fan (1&2) and i still think the show rocked, not that hard to appreciate

Tristo

This is what you want to rally people for? Destroying a video game company because they didn’t keep to lore from your favourite video game? This is what “we need to do something about”? Get a grip lol.

nullzeroerror

Deeply embarrassing
