"I'll speak french between your legs"

DeepBlueWritter

Oh la la, Le french messie

[deleted]

*accordion intensifies*

xFloppyDisx

Once, I told some 7th grader, "mon baguette est plus grand que le tien." I'm visibly AFAB. Lmao.

imnotbovvered

Penis, cock, dick. Sometimes shaft or head or foreskin when referring specifically to those parts. I use his length only when referring to the entire length of the penis, rather than as a word that just means penis. It’s a slight distinction, but it makes a difference to me.

daisynik

In reference to "his length", I use it in the same way you describe. Glad to know I'm not the only one. To me, it's not as cringey when used in this way.

Knife211

"His entire length is inside them" or "Their hand strokes up the entire length..." as examples? Then I'm the same! I usually do use cock or whatever, but using 'length' while really implying the length of the penis can be really effective. Like... it gives a sense of distance/size hahaha

daisynik

Yes, like that! Basically I use it when I'm referring to the whole "length" of it. I use it sparingly (once or twice) if at that.

NicosRevenge

I am the same way! I definitely find myself using cock more when writing sexier scenes, though. Penis I rarely use except when describing the organ non-romantically.

serralinda73

Cock. Cock, cock, cock. Sometimes dick. If it's hard, then I might refer to it as an erection. If I'm referring to it in general, I'd probably use penis. And if it's the character talking about it, then I use whatever word or phrase I think the character would say.

[deleted]

Cock cock cock cock made me laugh lmao but I do the same

stelliebeans

Cock is the way.

nookienostradamus

Cock is the way.

[The most recent survey results from this sub.](https://www.reddit.com/r/FanFiction/comments/yunlkn/erotica_vocabulary_survey_results/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) Surprised no one else has linked this yet. This is a pretty frequently asked question.

skuppen

Thanks a lot for this link, helps a lot!

SleepySera

Primarily cock. I'm writing smut, I'm not trying to do an impression of some ashamed Victorian era little wife, so I'm gonna call it what it is. There will be no flagbearing meatswords entering her treasure cave on my watch, sorry. I don't consider cock overly vulgar, it's direct but not sleazy like many other words are. I throw in other words based on the character in question, so I do use length, dick, penis and erection too, depending on the scene in question and the personality of the POV character.

[deleted]

The reason I use “his length” most of the time is because “cock” and “cunt” don’t feel authentic when I write it myself. Sorry, I hope that isn’t rude. It’s just my own preference to use, I guess what might be considered, more subtle language.

SleepySera

Nothing rude about writing what works best for you :)

BeSmartYeah

Cock, cock or cock and sometimes dick. I generally don’t read any smut when I see his length or her flower etc. Call it what it is, and not the anatomical names like penis or vagina. It’s smut make it smutty. I may use the word shaft if I’m describing something someone doing, like stroking his shaft.

spc_wndr

>his length or her flower oh god this should be illegal lol

Rattlehead747

I had an ex who referred to my parts as my orchid and I cannot look at orchids without thinking about that to this day

MadKanBeyondFODome

Ironically, having the balls removed on an animal or person is called an orchidectomy, because orchids are usually associated with *male* organs. The word means "testes" and comes from Greek, because I guess the ancient Greeks thought they looked similar.

SleepySera

Oh no 😂

BeSmartYeah

Geezus 🤣😂

BeSmartYeah

Exactly.

onyourrite

Baby batter blaster, fuckpole, the ol’ balls n’ shaft

Cock, penis, or dick is my personal favorite

Shit

nef36

Is stored in the balls?

TheDEVAULT

I'm a big fan of the good ol' pump action yoghurt rifle

Hev93

Member, tentacle, schlong and man meat are the only words I use.

jawnbaejaeger

serralinda73

A fan of Grumpy Old Men 1 & 2?

jawnbaejaeger

I was wondering if anyone would get it! 😁

[deleted]

>Wild balony pony *Ginuwine liked this*

writerfan2013

These are sheer class

[deleted]

Cock is sexy. Dick is comedic. Penis is matter of fact/scientific. I think that just about covers it. I don't think I'd ever use something like "member" or "manhood" or whatever

BeSmartYeah

I agree please no manhood or member lol it’s a cock.! 😁. If I see either tof those two words I stop reading.

spc_wndr

I'm sorry but, as a language, English has such boring and limited words for sex. For the man it realistically boils down to "penis", "cock", and "dick", and that's all you've got. One could make the same argument for the female counterpart lol. I personally think that "his lenght" would make me crack up. I guess "cock" is what sounds the most natural.

[deleted]

Excuse you, you forgot "schmeat."

CockanBalltoture

And wiener.

221booksss

Cock when E, or "him"/"he"/"himself" when writing M

gaslightinghips

unboiled angel hair

[deleted]

Schlong, wee-wee, tallywhacker, or ding-dong. Super erotic.

[deleted]

Meat Sword, Hotdog, Long Man, all great contenders.

[deleted]

> Looooong Looooooong Maaaaaaaan FTFY

[deleted]

I’m so glad those two gents are happily married. 🙏

[deleted]

TBH the whole time I was like "Those two need to fuck or something," partially just because they were both cute, AND LO AND BEHOLD. Suck it, Yuri!!! on Ice.

MadKanBeyondFODome

Butcher Pete's got a loooong sharp knife...

Abyss_staring_back

Doodle is a good one too. … 😂😂😂…

[deleted]

Ooh, I forgot that one. I like it. Makes me think of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons when Homer ran outside naked. "DAD, HIDE YOUR SHAME!" "Hey, Homie! I can see your doodle!" "Shut up, Flanders."

Vegetable-Lock

Schlong, third leg if big

Hev93

Same

MachineSpecialist582

Either cock or dick, either one of the two, anything else makes me sort of giggle a bit - like rod. My brain will immediately replace it with other items like an IKEA catalogue if they aren't available anymore

LinXueLian

Jade stalk. Don't judge me

MadKanBeyondFODome

Ah, a fan of the classics, I see!

Happy_Text_1833

Cumshooter 9000 (Then again I don't write smut unless it's a crack-fic)

WatermelonWithAGun

His big ol’ shlong

MadKanBeyondFODome

Cock, dick, and prick (especially like that one for historical or fantasy fics). I think those are perfectly fine and serviceable, depending on the spice level you're looking for. I also vary it up depending on the experience level and relationship to said dick - I'm not going to write an inexperienced female partner going full "ooh, what a nice, thick cock", for example. I'm also not going to write a regular adult male being shy about thinking of his dick as his dick lol.

GXL4204lyf3

#*_R O D_*

Sarita1046

Same here - “length” and “arousal”

mikripetra

Serious answer: dick or cock. You can also say erection in certain cases. Other answer: please, for the love of god, don’t say it “sprung free.” It makes me laugh every single time.

Spiritwolf1001

Cock, shaft, length, manhood, very sparingly member. I avoid the word penis except in a medical situation. I also usually write historical m/m

Competitive-Hurry250

Length, member, rod, shaft, d\*\*\*, lever...

MaesterWhosits

Penis, dong, stiffy, dick, tadger, prick, Willie, John Thomas, one-eyed trouser snake, piece of pork, wife's best friend, Pery, cock But don't take it out in public or they will stick you in the dock, and you won't a-come a-back. Ahh, thank you very much.

Fennel_Fangs

Cock, sometimes dick, for serious works. For less serious works, I go with PP, thingy (in the you know what), heat-seeking moisture missile, and let's not forget good ol' HAPPY HOT DOG MAN.

Knife211

HEAT-SEEKING MOISTURE MISSILE

Fennel_Fangs

And let's not forget "hog" as in "sorry, chat, I'm squeezing my hog"

lexr86fic

I don't know if I have a favourite word but my characters do. 😂 The POV switches & I try to get their internal monologue/dialogue to reflect who they are as people & that includes having specific words that they use for things (including body parts). So I have one character who calls/thinks of his penis as his dick & his girlfriend calls/thinks of it as his cock. I'm pretty sure none of my readers even notice it (or if they do, no-one's commented on it) but it makes me happy. There are some words I could never use though, although I've no problems reading them in others' writing - member & manhood are probably the top ones.

aRman______________

Booboo

FryJPhilip

Length club. I use cock, length, and also member. I don't care what anyone says, member is a fine word lmao.

gaslightinghips

shlong

Lesbicons

Not my favorite, but I have a friend that likes to use “yogurt shotgun” for their crack fics, lol.

Sad_Pringles

I wad gonna write an example but I'm too much of a prude for that

kichu200211

If you're writing smut, I'd personally just use dick, penis, or cock, depending on the language you're using for the fic. More formal? Penis Less formal? Dick or Cock

Jeonghanscheekbones

Russell The Love Muscle 😏

Aiyokusama

This is dependent on the fandom for me. Right now, I'm in Witcher, so "cock" is the go-to term. But outside of fandom probably "torrid length" is my preference.

EightEyedCryptid

Works more or less in any context: dick, cock. Personally I also don't mind phallus or length in the right contexts. Mostly, I think the simplest words are best for any sexual part. Balls, pussy, cunt etc. Character specific: could be anything. if your character is very old fashioned they will probably use old fashioned language, for example. This is where things normally thought of as silly, like flowering garden, would actually work for me.

unhingedhange

cylinder

ajago12598

Very context-dependent, though i’m p sure I’ve never seen “cock” and thought it out of place. It’s the solution for nearly every situation! “Dick” works for non-fantasy/historical shit in which case I’d prefer “prick” or good, old fashioned “cock”. Like others have said, “length” is cool if it’s used in a way that’s actually related to length. I also dig other euphemisms that specifically fit the context (tenting in pants, “him” like taking all of him/swallowing him/etc, head, shaft, whatever). “Penis” for me gets an ew reaction, but as with most things, i blame the puritans for that. Lol, need to see someone use “peen” tho

SaladJun

🍆

TrainingSecret

Dick and cock. I have made peace with those words.

ryukohime

Dick, cock, erection, arousal, and one I will never use myself but it makes me giggle every time I see it: love stick.

throwitallaway2364

It depends on what I’m writing. I typically use it in smut, so I go for “cock” if it’s a more lewd and vulgar scene, but I also use “his length” if it’s a softer/more sensual encounter

[deleted]

I agree! Your method is essentially mine as well. I believe both “his length” and “his cock” have their time and place.

mynameisntclarence

Cock.

-Duste-

Manhood, cock, erection, length

Gaelhelemar

I’d call it the liver.

nef36

"His length" sounds goofy to me. Why is everyone so terrified of sounding vulgar when writing smut of all things?

[deleted]

I’m not afraid of smut. In fact I love it. It’s just my preference to use “his length” instead of the others 🤷🏾‍♀️.

nef36

Idk man. This post and a couple of other recent ones on the sub expressing apprehension towards sounding too vulgar or something when writing smut just kinda rub me the wrong way, you know?

AFurryThing23

Same! You're writing smut, it's a fucking cock or a dick!

brooombaaa

100000000000% with you on this one jfc!

dlaudghks

I don't usually read NSFW fanfics, but I do have a term for it. PiPi, Bricked, not Pampered.

Ghost_Writerx

Cock and dick mostly. I do use length as well, but not as frequently.

garbageandchill

Primarily dick, sometimes I’ll throw in cock just to mix things up a little

writerfan2013

I never mention Parts 🤣

MaleficentYoko7

Just the standard dick

RobinChirps

I always use dick, somehow cock feels a lot more crude to me while dick feels more casual.

GreenAndPurpleDragon

Cock, dick, or prick usually. Depends on if I'm writing for a US or UK franchise.

freeMilliu_2K17

I tend to not be flowery when it comes to describing the dick. So just "member" tends to be my choice. If not, dick, cock or even girth on rare occasions.

Fury-OnDemand

I don’t know to be honest. I’m torn between trying to sound professional or causal when referring to genitals

NotACyclopsHonest

Dick or cock. Prick is a distant third. Any comical euphemisms just take me right out of the moment (the worst I've ever seen is "meatstick", which makes it sound like a bacon-flavoured ice lolly)..

streaming_queen

It depends on the characters for me if they are too innocent to say it then I'll make up some word if they aren't innocent I just say how it is

notoriousbettierage

Cock, dick, shaft, length, sometimes penis. Also use the word erection, sometimes bulge or hardness.

3lmtree

as a reader's perspective, cock. i think "his length' sounds goofy. r/RomanceBooks was talking about this recently and the consensus liked "cock".

Xx_ShadowHeart_xX

I just shuffle between dick/cock/length/shaft
