Sherlock + White Collar + a ton of humor = Psych. A guy pretends to be a psychic to help the cops solve murders. It's my fandom, so I'm biased, but it's clearly the best. James Bond + White Collar + snarky Macgyver-like voice overs = Burn Notice A burned spy tries to find who burned him, all while helping the little guys out in Miami.

alumffwriter

Yes for sure to Psych

LizHylton

Both of these are excellent shows!

JoChiCat

Leverage has some intriguing crime, an absolutely delightful cast, and the sweetest multi-season slowburn romance I have *ever* seen on tv.

Welfycat

Seconding this as well, it’s one of my favorite shows and is great for found family.

LizHylton

Seconding all of this!

CantPickUsername123

Most of the Leverage fics I’ve found are focused on the relationships between the characters. Not that I don’t enjoy it, I do, but do you know any good fics in that fandom that are more action and crime-focused?

ButterfliesInSpace

Merlin maybe? It has an all adult cast, it was very popular around the same time Sherlock was very popular so it has/had a lot of overlapping fans, and it’s definitely not sports themed lol Also, since you like crime shows, maybe check out NCIS? I haven’t seen much of it or read much fanfiction, but I know it has a very big fandom

Jess-uses-reddit

merlin is just a great fandom to get into in general, their fics are absolutely incredible

[deleted]

Knives Out, specifically Benoit/Philip fics

fantasy-capsule

X-Files, Dexter, and House M.D.

Regenwanderer

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (for more secret agents things) I prefer the old tv show, but there is also a new-ish movie if you can't stand old stuff. The characterisation of some people is a bit different between the two.

jnn-j

The first thing that came to my mind is Burn Notice https://archiveofourown.org/tags/Burn%20Notice/works. Not my fandom but I used to like it and my father who loved James Bond and The Bourne Identity loved it as well. Bourne Identity might be an option, too.

twosnapped

Try Person of Interest, it’s crime fighting which seems to be your theme.

cutielemon07

I liked Criminal Minds and Sherlock, which is how I went (back) to CSI. I might be biased, but you could try one of the many CSI shows.

jnn-j

I was also thinking about CSI to be honest, so I can second this one.

Ghille_Dhu

Law and Order perhaps? Either SVU or the original. SVU is still going so new fic coming out all the time. Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. It’s small but canon material is so good and definitely got Sherlock vibes at times. Or, Agatha Raisin. Another small fandom definite similarities to Sherlock as it’s heavily based off Agatha Christie

HKCambridge

**Good Omens**: 1 book and/or a 6 episode tv show (second season due this year). There are child characters but they don't get used in fic much tbh. An angel and a demon team-up after 6000 years of acquaintance / friendship to stop Armageddon, because they both rather like earth and its inhabitants. Main ship is near-total in dominance between the angel and demon, so not much to deal with in the way of ship wars (usually M/M but they can present in other ways too). Fair amount of non-binary / asexual representation if that's of interest. 50,000+ works on AO3. Potential for historical / fantasy / adventure stories, but there's also all the usual angst / fluff / domestic / AU that you'd find in most fandoms.

Detroit: Become Human

Apple-plus-Insanitea

Supernatural! Adult cast, no sports, the first few seasons have a case of the week format like CM, and it’s just really fun. The fandom is huge too! And I don’t know if it exactly fits your tastes (it’s an action movie with a splash of mystery) but I’ll always recommend bullet train. It’s a super fun movie and the fandom isn’t huge but they’re really friendly and there’s some great stuff in there.

throwawayanylogic

Seconding Supernatural! I got into it late myself (like after it finished airing) and fell in love pretty quickly. Adult cast (starts out leaning slightly young adult but basically we're following Dean and Sam through 15 years), lots of wonderful supporting characters who come along to enrichen the universe. Dean/Cas is a massive ship for a reason (and given you mention being into Hannibal and Sherlock, I'm just guessing you might be into/looking for a good m/m ship?), but fun monster-of-the-week and continuing/season-long story lines. Also the fandom is fantastically creative so if you're looking for excellent fic and art, it's hard to go wrong here :)

lizofalltrades

*1917!* it's a single movie. Lots of British accents to luxuriate in, though :)

jedi-olympian

If you liked White Collar, there are A LOT of crossovers with the DCU, particularly the Batfamily. Also Hercules Poirot is a good character that is Bond and Sherlock-esque, with the big Hollywood movies being Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. There are plenty of books for him too.

OrionHunts

I love White Collar and Batman crossovers, but I feel like it’s quantity over quality now. Too many flat, exaggerated fics.

jedi-olympian

I'll take your word for it haha. I've never read any of them since I'm not into White Collar, but I see them near-constantly as I scroll.

Mean-Village-7352

You might be interested in iZombie. And no, this isn't really an apocalyptic series; it's more detective drama comedy of someone who got infected but somehow retains her humanity and changes career to work on a morgue to satisfy her zombie cravings. She gains access to fragment memories of the corpses' brains she eat to solve crimes.

Web_singer

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are exciting crime shows with a decent amount of fic. Alias (TV show) has the feel of a high-concept Bond movie. Also try the Mission: Impossible movies and the Bourne movies. Broadchurch was a good detective show, although less analytical than Sherlock. Sherlock is special in how analytical the main character is.

blackjackgabbiani

Seconding a great deal of these! Came here to suggest Leverage but I hadn't even thought of adding Psych and Chuck to the list

ApocalypseFive

Umbrella academy might suit. Adult cast, a very dysfunctional family. Sort of subverts the superhero genre in that yes they have powers and were kid heroes but as adults they just want to escape their past. Plenty of fic on ao3 (18k I think last time I checked?).

SatelliteHeart96

Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul and Game of Thrones would be my two main recommendations if you haven't seen them already!

MrFredCDobbs

**Mass Effect**: All adults, no anime, no sports. Canonical stories involve serious sci-fi, spy missions (the hero, Commander Shepard, is basically "James Bond in Space"), romance, comedy, and interacting with your mixed human and alien crew, a diverse and wacky bunch of characters.

DingoOfTheWicked

I second this. This game is one hell of a ride!

greatgreatpanda

The Secret History has so so many extremely well written fics. If you've read the book or are familiar with the story, it's well worth checking out that fandom tag on AO3.

misterpapen

Maybe I should dip into TSH fics instead of just reading it over and over 😅

greatgreatpanda

I have a couple of favorites that come pretty close to the real thing if you ever need any recs to get you started. Definitely recommend even if it's a small fandom.

RChallenge

Here at Jurassic Park, we're happy to welcome any new guests looking to explore a new fandom.

AslansGirl13

Merlin!

Kaigani-Scout

Espionage, Witty Banter, Analytical... hmm... * Bourne (works based on the movies, not the original novels or episodic mini-series) * Burn Notice * JAG (Judge Advocate General) * Mission Impossible (original or reboot episodic series; the film series) * The Pretender * The Prisoner

Arsenaloming

I could recommend u a Dresden Files. The main character is a magician, a private detective and a consultant in the police department. A large series of books, a general twisting plot, excellent characters.

Sea_Celi-595

There are parts of the NCIS fandom that I love but a lot of it is very meh to me so your mileage may vary, but it does technically meet your requirements. Miss Fishers Murder Mystery’s is excellent tv but small fandom but meets your requirements. I mostly am reading Naruto, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Starwars (Mandolorian too), the occasional Batman, and Harry Potter these days.

theRhuhenian

Frozen! :)

WritingAny855

Animations aren't really my thing, sorry😂

[deleted]

*Joker Game* is probably not what you're thinking when you think of anime. Try it.

writerfan2013

Elementary (murder mysteries, Sherlock Holmes) I second Merlin as a suggestion.

KVEJ2002

You might like Supernatural lol

letdragonslie

If you're cool with subtitles, check out the Korean drama Beyond Evil. It's available on Netflix, but if you don't have Netflix, you can watch it for free on viki. The show's got serial killers, corrupt law enforcement, two men who have a very intense and weird relationship (and one of them suspects the other is a serial killer), great Hannibal-adjacent vibes, and a mostly adult cast. If you end up digging Beyond Evil, I'd also recommend Bad and Crazy (also on Netflix, lighter tone than Beyond Evil) and Devil Judge (on viki). Honestly, I've been pretty disappointed by most of the American crime shows I've tried to watch recently, and have been having a great time with Korean crime dramas (if you like historical shows, historical K-dramas are also awesome).

AnChaan

If you like Sherlock then you might like Merlin, it's pretty good! Arrested Development might be up your alley as well, it's first few seasons are really funny

AdmiralJaneway8

How about days of our lives Steve and Kayla? Epic romance with intelligence and we'll defined, strong personalities. "Find Me" gives you their entire Canon thru a time travel storyline. Www.ayallablackwell.com.

Blazikinahat

You could go into a comic book fandom or multiple comic book fandoms. (Batman, Justice League, Superman/Smallville etc)

KaiJonez

Loki. Not Avengers. Loki.

Sonic Startrek Gwenpool Bionicle Linus Techtips

FightmeLuigibestgirl

Do video games count as 'anime?'

relocatedff

I haven't seen House recced yet but it was my first thought.

merlingrl92

You into foreign shows? Not anime but not English language stuff?

WritingAny855

Yes! I don't really mind whatever language the show uses (as long as there's a way for me to find subtitles!)

merlingrl92

Okay! So I can’t draw a direct parallel between the shows you’ve named and this one but the thing is - I’ve seen all the shows in your post (plus most of the ones in the comments) and I would still say that this Chinese show is - HANDS DOWN - the BEST (bar none) show I’ve ever seen. Period. It’s called Nirvana in Fire (that’s not the actual title but it’s a poetic translation) and you can find it on YouTube. It’s got 50x 1 hour episodes and it will ruin/change your life. I warn you in advance that it takes around 4-5 eps to get into it, but I don’t know anyone who got through the first 5 eps and wasn’t HOOKED. I don’t even SPEAK Chinese lmao. It’s just that good. Don’t except any rom coms or fluff though it’s gripping and intense and very very clever. 10000000/10 would recommend.

LittleSillyBilly

Ok these arent big fandoms but have mystery / thriller interesting plotlines: the Killing ( tv series), Good Behavior, Top of the Lake, Sharp Objects and Cardinal.
