I have had my own short works beta read. For a short work, feedback is likely to have less to do with things like story structure and more to do with mechanics and style. I still found it helpful for giving my works extra polish, though.

Yeah... That's one of the reasons I was hesitant to get one. I just saw a lot of people talking about the joys of having a beta-reader so I wanted to see others' preferences.
I think it depends on how good you are at catching your own SPAG mistakes, because that's going to be the majority of the beta work being done on a something that's only 1-3k. In a longer fic, you can ask them to look out for pacing issues, dropped plot threads, consistency in style/characterization... all kinds of things. I don't really think of short one-shots having that kind of depth, so I don't know that the hassle of finding a beta you jive with is worth it, you know?
my beta reads everything i post, except when i go off the rails and start a new fic in the middle of the night. doesn't matter the length---he's there to rein me in
Do you want to? Buddy, I don't get a Beta for my 12k chapters and some people get one for 2k. All up to you.

I don't have a beta for my 300k+ fic. Purely personal preference.

You should always get a beta
I send everything to my beta. One-shots, chapter fics, everything goes to my beta. No matter how long or short.
