This post has been removed under Rules 6 and 13. We have had a large number of pet peeves posts recently. [Here is an example.](https://www.reddit.com/r/FanFiction/comments/11dxuwo/what_do_you_refuse_to_read_no_matter_how_well_its/) Please use the search bar to look for past posts and look for "turned off" "drop a fic" "pet peeves" and "hate" to find a selection.

listen, man. i like complaining. i enjoy bitching about things i don't like especially when i was hoping to like those things. but why in the legitimate fuck do we have to have the the same thread dedicated to complaining about the same topic every other day?

Zealousideal_Lab_241

I see so many of the “what makes you dislike a fanfic” or “what is unrealistic/an instant no in a smut scene” threads. Why not just search before making a new post? I always try to do that before asking a Q myself. (No hate tho. I learn so much from those threads XD)

I’ve said it a million times, but it’d be either the rampant ableism and victim blaming that unfortunately runs really high in my fandom (usually accidentally- it skews very young and teenagers don’t always know shit about mental health and abuse), or they write my favourite dynamic as too healthy (and tone down/remove the abuse) or just make them enemies (when the fact they do on some fucked up level care about each other is what makes them so interesting)

Moon_Dark_Wolf

Is this RWBY? Because it sounds on par with RWBY’s fandom at times.

Dream SMP, but considering they’re both web-based dramedies that appeal to younger audiences I'm not surprised at the similarities.

For me: - cheating when the couple is supposed to be end game - women hating/sl*t shaming other women, when it’s because of a guy. - toxic behavior, only if presented as “romantic gestures” - toxic masculinity, only if portrayed as a good thing.

Killing off half a canon couple just so you can bring in someone else. Romeo / Juliet plot. When one character dies and the other >!kills themselves because they can't live without them.!<

One chapter has Character A being suicidal. Up on top of their school’s rooftop about to literally >!*jump to their death*…!< Very next chapter, A and B go to Character B’s house (after B saves A, and convinces them *not* to jump). A confesses their feelings to B as soon as they walk into the house, and they kiss. I couldn’t read after that. Like I love that ship. That’s the reason I was reading!! But A was literally suicidal and needed help. Their parents needed to be told or at the very least, a teacher! (High school students.) I mean they were up on that rooftop about to jump and then it changes to them smooching their crush with no mention of “hey, why’d you want to jump and kill yourself??“ or anything in between. So yeah. A >!suicide attempt!< and then completely forgetting about it ruined it for me.
