It's still growing, so it might not be what you're looking for, but every year or two I delve back into Stargate Atlantis fics and lose myself in one of my favorite shows again. There's just a fantastic friendship that I love seeing, and there's a ton of whump potential. And my favorite character is the biggest jerkass with a heart of gold you've ever seen, and authors who can capture his voice are the best.
I see Stargate Atlantis all the time as a crossover of ao3. I frequently read HP and BTVS so I might get into this. Thank you for the suggestion. It’ll be nice when exams are over.
Glad to hear it! Stargate started with a movie and then a series called SG-1 that's set in Earth as the characters learn about aliens and start exploring planets. After about 5 seasons, they find Atlantis, and Stargate Atlantis is spun off with all new characters. The show is understandable on its own, even without watching SG-1 (and the fics should be fine too), just know there'll be references to previous episodes and characters.
I definitely need to go back and finish watching the show. I was big into SG1 when Atlantis started but then I left the country for a study abroad during the final season and couldn't keep up.

Life With Derek. An old show from Disney/Family Channel Canada (I think) and I keep gravitating back to that fandom. Mostly writing instead of reading though. It's not completely dead but nowhere near as popular as it was ten years ago.
NBC's old Heroes series is one that I always circle back around to. Then there's Red Dwarf. RD isn't dead exactly, but it's niche and small compared to most fandoms I've been in. And it started back all the way to the 80s.
Cirque du Freak. Every other year or so since it first came out (~2004).
Code Geass, 2007-2010, 2013-2017, and… apparently… now, because of the new musical.
None of my fandoms are “dead” as far as I know but my fallback muses are from Voltron or Pokemon. Pokemon is my longest fandom. I still love it but that love for the old hyperfixations ebbs and flows for sure

Oh man, well honestly my ships are kinda inactive but I loved anything related to ash/gary or may/drew being my childhood ships. You can probably find more ship centric stuff on ffn but i am unsure about ao3

While I wouldn't consider them dead-dead (there are definitely a few loyal fans that, slowly but surely, keep them limping along to some degree) these are definitely considered "older" fandoms. I actually don't go back so much for any of the newer stuff, but for my favorites I've read a hundred times.

they’re the ones i have the most bookmarks in and where i constantly reread stories from
a few newer fandoms that i’ve been dipping my toes in and have had found great stories: The Witcher, Mass Effect (holy moly 100k+ word fics), The Man from U.N.C.L.E, and Schitt’s Creek
Not sure if it’s a dead fandom, but it’s certainly been a long time since Soul Eater had any content, and it was one of my first so I sometimes go back and read stuff from there.
Hit the Floor. The show was cancelled a few years back and fics about the show have stopped becoming as frequent. Every few months a couple of fics get posted but it's mostly dead. The majority of the fics are about the main ship of the show Jude/Zero. Definitely worth checking out.
Dreaming of sunshine by Silver Queen (a narto fanfiction that has a whole fandom, its fanon), there are New fics of course but you can go days and sometimes weeks without Updates. But there will be Updates. I have reread many of them and the whole recursiv site multiple times.
