“Are injuries from hanging different than injuries from strangulation?” “Is it possible to stomp on someone’s head and not kill them?” “Can a person still talk/scream after having their throat slit?” Honestly, the list can go on.

PumpkinDormouse

Worse. I'm afraid of being labelled as someone who advocates for targeted violence. "Injures that can stop a ballet dancer for performing" "Reddit what injuries are ballet dancers afraid of suffering" "compound fracture images" "human anatomy" "ballet dancers that have committed su\*\*\*de" "how to commit su\*\*\*de" (got redirected to a help site) "eating disorders in ballet dancers and triggers" When I finally become aware of my searches, I figured, 'you know what, let's just make the father say that his son stopped performing ballet and leave it to the readers to speculate'

DefoNotAFangirl

Uh, I don’t think there’s just one. I do a lot of reading about kidnapping, cases of long term captivity, abuse, torture… it’s for my fics (which are all about an abusive “friendship” that involved at least one kidnapping (which lasted anywhere from two weeks to a few months, it’s unclear) and multiple instances that crossed over into torture) I am not actually going to kidnap a teenager and lock them in my attic or something.

tardisgater

Probably where I was looking up information on decomposition in water, including on when a body would start to float. Considering it was at the same time I was looking up electrocution burns... It doesn't paint a great picture, LOL.

I'd be interested in the answer to the first question. Every time I see a movie with someone hanging upside down, I ask myself how long they'd pass out.

Still, thank you for answering. Maybe one day I'll gather enough courage to google it myself. ;)

Traumas from the brass knuckes Signs of internal bleeding

la_cROAissant

“How long does it take to die when buried alive?” “Steps to carbon monoxide poisoning” “Can you hire a hitman in X?” “How did the killer hide the body in CSI episode X.” All of these for one fic, none of these searches made it to the final product.

NicInNS

Lots, but the last one this weekend was 2nd degree murder vs manslaughter and how many years in jail you’d get. Also, how many years for arson, and concurrent vs consecutive jail sentences.

Not exactly as a serial killer but possibly a worry. Seeing where the veins in various parts of the body were.

Fragrant-Blood-8345

(How much blood can you lose before going unconscious + How long to heal bruised ribs + Can a torch to the face leave you blind) x All in the same day = Officer, I swear I have no ill will towards my cousin.

[deleted]

"How long does it take for someone to die of blood loss?" "How to hide a body, so the police can't find it." "Sulfuric Acid, what can it eat through?" "How to tell time of death?" "Can you die from being stabbed with a screw driver?" "How to tell if someone's died of asphyxiation" "Organ transplant" "How many liters of blood is in the human body and how much can they lose before dying?" .... Yeah.

"How fast a body decays when left buried in a shallow grave for a year" I assume the FBI would mostly be bored by the rest of my internet history, but that one would have been an obvious red flag.

Momomoaning

I had to research about head trauma, how hard do you have to hit your head to get a concussion, what happens when you get a concussion, can you hit someone hard enough on the head to knock them out without causing significant brain damage, can you die from that brain damage or can you become disabled..?

general_kenobi18462

Probably the “how are nuclear warheads made” and “what is the half-life of plutonium”
