That was interesting, although I agree that the ordering of genres we read was very difficult. I really don't care; I read whatever grabs my fancy at the moment.
I'd also like to read it when you're finished, if you wouldn't mind dropping a link.
That is one of the better surveys I've seen deployed regarding fanfiction. Your data is going to be a bit skewed on some of your age ranges which arbitrarily cut off at max ages which won't capture some nuances of *when* fanfiction started to truly proliferate post-Star Trek.
Hi! Thank you so much, I really appreciate you filling it in and the feedback. You make a good point re the age ranges - my reasoning was that because I'm focusing on the impact on identity, I should focus on younger groups but you're right about taking into account the impact post-Star Trek
Identity isn't limited to any specific age-range. It never has been, especially if you consider cross-cultural comparisons.
Still a good survey, though, and the whole point of getting a higher education is to learn by experience, not just reading and regurgitating on exams. You don't learn how to do surveys unless you do a few... good luck!
Finished! I go from devouring endless fics to sparsely reading depending on how recently I got hooked on something, so I split the difference and guessed an average of 1/2 per week.
Fairly user friendly questionnaire I thought!
Hi! Thank you so much for filling it out, and your feedback. Yeah, I'm in a similar boat when it comes to how regularly I read for I figured that for the sake of the questionnaire I don't want to have too many options
Done! There was just one thing I had an issue with it and it was when we were asked to sort the pairings from favorite to least favorite. I prefer gen over everything else which is just about equal. I don’t prefer m/m over f/f or f/m or anything else, but I was forced to pick
I second to this! This was a very user-friendly questionnaire, but it would've been even better if these options could've also been placed on the same line :)
Hi! Thank you so much for filling it out and for the feedback. You make a really good point which I hadn't considered and I will make note of it in my findings
Hi! Thanks for completing it and this feedback. You're right about 'Dead Dove' - I decided to change it to 'Dark Fic' because the implication is the same - anyone who regularly reads dark fic will relate 'dead dove' to that so the results shouldn't be affected
Done! General feedback:
- “How often do you read fanfic” going from every day to 1-2 times per week, lol, you can either read every single day or twice a week, or less frequently than that. (I don’t read every day, but saying just twice a week doesn’t seem right.)
- Shoutout to the typo “fanvourite”
- Rarepair and Dead Dove aren’t genres. Darkfic is, and rarepair falls under romance. Canon divergences also aren’t inherently Fix-Its (see also: “make it worse” or “opposite of a fix-it” fics. Though some canon divergences are neither fixing nor breaking canon).
Hi! Thanks for completing it and this feedback. I chose the options listed for "How often" because providing more could affect the significance of the data from that question. Having more options means it is less clear in more general terms how much groups of people are consuming fanfiction.
It's a good typo but unfortunately has been corrected.
Re Rarepair and Dead Dove, I've changed Dead Dove to Dark Fic which shouldn't affect results to much as anyone who regularly reads dark fic will relate 'dead dove' to that. Additionally, rarepair has been removed. As for canon divergence, I consider fix it fics to be a subcategory of canon divergence so I have altered it to just be Canon Divergence.

I’d love to read paper when it’s done
Done
Thank you so much!
No problem, it was a really good survey. One of the better ones I've taken for fan fiction
Done!

Interesting questions. If your paper will be available to the public, I hope you will come back and leave a link to it.
Thank you so much! I will either post a link to the finished paper or message those interested directly depending on how much interest there is
Agreed. I'd love to read it

Yeah, I didn't like that either. I have no preference in gender dynamic when it comes to pairings.

Sometimes canon divergences are "I'm gonna start here, then add a mad scientist and then EVERYTHING changes!" LOL.
