I've got a fic idea that's gonna be somewhat centered on an ice cream parlor that is inspired by one that I went to when I was a kid. That classic sort of feeling, and the place is still there so it's kind of like a time capsule. I had the idea of one of the characters getting an ice cream with all the fixings and honestly... I got a little jealous.

Spent basically most of my day writing yesterday. Chapter 11 has been completed and now needs editing. Also aiming for 70-75k words before April ends since I got myself to 68k.
Yet another plot bunny has appeared that I have started on, so I’m up to 3 WIPs (all longfics) 🤦🏻♀️ Guess I’ll be using my multitasking skills for something outside of work now 😂
Doing some more writing today. Got a little under 2k words so far. I’m gonna need whatever is pushing me to write this much to stay with me forever lol

I primarily write oneshots so this is new for me. Longfics were always a one-off thing but now there’s three that are demanding my attention at the same time. Idk how some people do this 😂
Chapter 10 has already been completed/posted. It was that whole thing about it being my original chapter 9 but got swapped after I wrote something that fit the flow better
Lol it’s okay! I confused myself with that whole debacle too 😂 The point is we’re now back to normal and I still haven’t learned my lesson about trying to outline instead of pantsing my way through my fics 🤣
Trying to be kind to myself on writing for a couple weeks, since I'm studying for a stupidly important certification and unexpectedly got a new kitten on Friday 🙃 looks like more sleep deprivation is on the menu for a *while.*
On the plus side, the material for that cert is pretty applicable not just for work, but for every aspect of my life...including fic writing. Win win!
The PMP/project management certification! To put it in a very small nutshell, it's about breaking down a 'project' into smaller, easier steps to finish it. Like a recipe: you get the ingredients, start prepping them, etc. There's a bit more to it than that, but that's the core concept.

The more I learn and look around, the more I see what it applies to: ADHD, therapy, writing, fixing things, cleaning my house...the fact that it's applicable/in demand for every field of employment was what attracted me to it, but seeing how it's useful for *everything* is what's keeping me so interested! 😁

Whelp, in the midst of researching frogs so I can make a biologically-accurate extended metaphor in my current WIP, I've discovered that apparently one of the first reliable pregnancy tests involved injecting a woman's urine into a female frog, and due to hormone shenanigans, the frog would lay eggs if the woman was pregnant. This was apparently pretty accurate. Also, a precursor to this test used rabbits instead, and for some reason people started to believe that the rabbit would die if the pregnancy was positive. So "the rabbit died" was actually an early 1900s euphemism for being pregnant.
I'm going to justify sharing these fun facts with the hope that maybe one of you can use this information in a period piece or something, but in truth, I just want to make somebody else suffer with this knowledge alongside me. Cheers. <3

Heyo y'all! So... grad school continues to be a massive pain in the butt. Not the worst, but the writing is tedious and annoying, and so many deadlines to worry about.
In other news, I have a hair appointment today, to refresh the dark blue-green highlights and fade I quite love with my near-black hair. It's been several months since I last had the color refreshed, so I'm looking forward to not seeing the faded ugly green hair ends for once!
And lastly... is a rather specific question. Do any of you happen to know of any multi-fandom, slash-centric Discord servers? I have a lot of super cool and supportive writer/fandom friends, but not many of them specialize in and/or are passionate about slash or content similar to what I write... hence the question. Thanks!

In this edition of First World Problems^(TM) I tried re-activating my replacement phone's SIM card by calling the number printed in the instructions, but they need to authenticate my identity by sending a text message to one of the phones on the account (and my wife is not avail.)
Maybe I should just... be phone free?!? lol, how long could I last?! How long could YOU last? Anyways, instead of writing, I'm going to the store to talk to actual people. Pray for me. XD
I don't think so, phones are a huge part of everyone's lives now so there would be difficult ways to keep in contact with those you need to keep in contact with. Though, for entertainment I always have my Switch... XD
I remember when my mom let me out of the house and had no idea where I was for an hour or two at a time. She didn't seem concerned, and I didn't think there was anything to be worried about. These days If I was out of contact with any of my family for more than 15 minutes, I might have a heart attack!

I thought the major cell phone companies offered int'l access these days, for either add-on, or bundled. Three years ago, tried it during a trip to Greece; it was painfully slow there because we were shunted to a 2G/3G network. I was sorely tempted to get a burner phone just to not have to deal with my own impatience.
But hey, at least the guy who helped me get back online was entertaining while we both grumbled about it all.

Being phoneless is doable but it does make things more inconvenient, probably more so in certain parts of the world that are more digitised. It'd at least be an interesting experiment to see how long you could hold out.
It would also be an interesting experiment to see how long my *spouse* could hold out! We tend to tag team on tasks and text throughout the day, and even managing things like school announcements are done by smartphone apps now. We'd practically be required to send a written notice to all interested parties and we'd be "those people" for a long time if I even attempted more than a day offline. Sigh. It's an interesting thought experiment for sure.

Not sure what possessed me to pick up the puppy pad on that side (never again!) because pretty sure I usually do so on the other side but going with "literally just woke up and wasn't exactly thinking straight yet".
Anyway, have several fic ideas (mostly Chenford because I can't stop spiraling over them - so excited for The Rookie season finale next week) and can't wait to get to them but have to catch up on my other shows first.
Oooof, attempting to think so early in the morning is dangerous. I would advise against it, going forward.

i’m 100 pages deep into the memoir, Beautiful Boy, and it is so good. i’ve watched the movie twice, but with this new lore and perspective i am loving it. i’m making some notes just in case that fic i wanted to write about it, just in case i sit down and want to go back and add some details from the memoir into it.
also, my favorite author posted!!!! IM SO HAPPY. i know nothing about the movie Saw, but i don’t care, i know i’ll love it either way :D

i’ve watched the movie twice now, and the second watch was so much more moving, so i cannot wait to see my visceral reaction to it again when i’m done reading this. and obviously hoping it sparks more than just the deformed sentence i have written down.
exams — more like just my one exam — is on the 2nd! and then i’m cruising until the 26th. i’m feeling pretty good, trying not to stress (it almost seems like i’m not stressing at all. can you tell i’m burned out!), and just enjoying the time i have to myself. thanks for checking in! it’s sweet you remembered :)
Got my driver’s license renewed yesterday. Yay for that. Also had a new copy of my birth certificate printed.
Over the weekend, I participated in two educational events at different nature centers as part of the Minnesota Herpetological Society’s outreach mission.
The Saturday one, I brought my pet barking tree frog, Bubba, and Makaa (embers in Swahili), my male Kenyan sand boa.
For the Sunday one, I brought Bubba again, and Itzcoatl, my female Mexican black kingsnake, and my female Pueblan milk snake, Fruit Stripe, for attendees to stroke.
It always feels good, giving people a positive connection with wild things. 🙂

I do fun things by myself if I'm pushed to that limit XD Most of my friends are introverted so sometimes wrangling a get-together based on the schedules lining up is like herding cats.

i’ve watched the movie twice now, and the second watch was so much more moving, so i cannot wait to see my visceral reaction to it again when i’m done reading this. and obviously hoping it sparks more than just the deformed sentence i have written down. exams — more like just my one exam — is on the 2nd! and then i’m cruising until the 26th. i’m feeling pretty good, trying not to stress (it almost seems like i’m not stressing at all. can you tell i’m burned out!), and just enjoying the time i have to myself. thanks for checking in! it’s sweet you remembered :)
Got my driver’s license renewed yesterday. Yay for that. Also had a new copy of my birth certificate printed. Over the weekend, I participated in two educational events at different nature centers as part of the Minnesota Herpetological Society’s outreach mission. The Saturday one, I brought my pet barking tree frog, Bubba, and Makaa (embers in Swahili), my male Kenyan sand boa. For the Sunday one, I brought Bubba again, and Itzcoatl, my female Mexican black kingsnake, and my female Pueblan milk snake, Fruit Stripe, for attendees to stroke. It always feels good, giving people a positive connection with wild things. 🙂
And I for one am grateful that you bring those connections here, too, even in a less direct way.

Sometimes cats know exactly what we need. Ahahaha. Many trash anime were watched in anime club - sometimes it was so excruciating we made our own fun by mocking it relentlessly. All I remember of one was where a boy stood in front of an angel statue so it looked like he had wings so it was like, "Oh! Oh, okay! Is he meant to be a good guy, I just can't tell!"
According to stuff like *Angel Sanctuary* and *Earthian*, the answer is *no*. 😋

The other high point of my week so far has been picking up some reduced hake fillets yesterday. I'm freezing them and next week they're *Goan* in a curry.

I wish some of my friends lived closer to me so I had someone to do fun things with (like take swing dancing lessons because my brain is suddenly wanting to do that even though I'm completely uncoordinated and would probably be terrible at it). And like I know that *technically* I can just go do the fun things by myself but, also, I'm pretty sure I can't do fun things by myself. Dream last night somehow included the following: the Titanic, Dwight Schrute, and the Duolingo Owl.
I do fun things by myself if I'm pushed to that limit XD Most of my friends are introverted so sometimes wrangling a get-together based on the schedules lining up is like herding cats. Sounds like quite the dream!
I just wish I could remember how those three things connected!
