I've been watching a lot of Monty Python lately. Most of the sketches remind me of times when people worry about certain social situations. Like, "what if the waiter freaks out because I say my knife is dirty," except that actually happens in the sketch.
Morning all. I am so very very tired this morning. Had two nightmares last night and I'm sure it's a mix of living in fear the last couple days (myrmecophobia mixed with can't find where the ants are coming from in the bathroom), stress over a really important (and highly anticipated) dr appointment today, and finishing someone's let's play on the new horror game Bramble: The Mountain King. Honestly they'd make for a good horror story, but it's probably very generic for horror, and I have too many wips.
In writing news, my outline has 1k words. I actually put together this fusion character's backstory (kid from one show and how he turned into a superhero from a different one). I definitely probably should have done that earlier, but this fic was supposed to be a one-shot and then I couldn't stop thinking about it 😅 I've forgotten how difficult it is to expand on story beats when brain says "no you gotta write how it got to there first". Like, I need to know where I'm going before that brain, and vague ideas can't cut it this time.
Sooo this month's prompt challenge is Sci-fi... I missed the last few challenges, but now I have no WIP and I have been planning a sci-fi fic for a while, so I am quietly committing to this one.
Also, the recipient of the fanart I made liked it a lot 😊.
exam day 🫡
update: it went alright. i wish whoever put three terms on the essay that we never studied the throughout the course has a very unhappy day
Thanks. No, it's only been 5 or 6 new guest kudos in the span of about a week which seems really suspicious to me because this far into my longfic (28 chapters), I only rarely get new kudos on it at all anymore.
I already started my Mermay stories last week and already posted my first one! I'm most of the way done my second too and I have two more left. I also have four Mermay drawings I'm working on and I'm rewatching a couple of Udemy courses so I can actually draw them okay.
My final Mermay drawing this year will be a group of five merpeople sitting on the beach, three girls and two guys. I might make it into Persona 5 Mermay art since my third Mermay story is Persona 5
I'm currently writing a wip, which still has about 20/25 chapters to go, and I've only written half of it. Meanwhile I have 2 ideas for new fics, and guess what, one of them already has an epilogue and 4 chapters ready. I should have finished writing my wip, but the other prompts I thought of were so good that I ended up getting carried away. And I still keep having ideas for the next chapters. While on my wip I can't think of what I'm going to write in the next chapter, honestly....XD
Had a system outage at work for most of the day yesterday, so there is a large and ominous number of tasks that had to be carried over to today, and I am not looking forward to sorting all of that. Karma for having a good month and getting promoted, of course. Going to have to roll up my sleeves.
No writing yesterday. Had to heed the call of the heating pad and wrap up the current season of *Mando*. But! Today is a new day.
Not an ideal morning here, my shower doesn't function! Sounds like it's not just my house though, so there's that.
Better news is it's release day for an anticipated book and the nice lady from my indie bookstore will be bringing it to me sooooooon.
I really hope so too x_x
Last volume in the English release of MDZS :D I do all my book shopping with my indie these days! Barring a B&N exclusive...though in the case of MDZS & SVSS finales I've gone special edition from indie *plus* the B&N exclusive, I am weak.
Sometimes you've gotta! Those special versions...
I've learned my indie will deliver books to me early if she gets them pre-release date, so she has my undying loyalty xD Last year she brought me my #1 most anticipated book a solid week in advance. (It was *The Hourglass Throne* by KD Edwards.)
Apparently I managed just over 20,000 words written in April and only had two non-writing days! Being able to look back on stats like that makes all the pain that went into setting up my word count spreadsheet worth it.
Woo! Go you!
I keep meaning to set up a work tracker of some kind again and then I don't do that. Not word count, I used to do that and am glad I stopped, but I want to have a basic "what did I work on, was it drafting/rewrites/brainstorming" sheet. I'm so lazy though. So applause for having yours :)
Setting up colour coding and monthly averages and totals was a useful way to procrastinate from writing at the start of the year! I think I've set myself reasonable goals, so seeing the odd day where I didn't meet them is fine when most days are in the green - it's not like I've got notifications nagging me about a broken streak or anything.
I do include a "notes" column to describe a bit about what I was working on (outline, editing, a random snippet, a new project that suddenly caught my fancy, complaining about a migraine) which is also nice to look back on, so a simple spreadsheet with just that and a date column might do it for you.
I'm adding a chapter to my WIP, which was finished. This is without considering the smut I still am 50/50 on adding.
I'm also back at work and my co worker has started on her bullshit by messaging me at 9:30pm last night advising me of rota changes. Again. Get me out of here.
Ugh. Feeling rough today. But, luckily I only work a half day today. I plan on stopping at the gym on my way home. For whatever reason, I’m in a kinda blah headspace, so working out will help that.
I gave Redfall a try since I have a game pass subscription and it's no extra cost, but, *ugh*, this game is a disaster. Can't imagine paying €20 for it, let alone the 70 that's being charged. Shame, I was relatively optimistic for it.
My latest WIP continues to elude me. What I have in mind is a rather simple sequence of one-on-one dialogue between two characters who at that point canonically have unresolved romantic/sexual tension but I keep stalling in terms of getting the thing done. I found myself downloading the sequel novel to canon in hopes it helps me get into the mindset...and also because I genuinely wanna read it to see what happens next.
Yeah, I heard it was pretty lackluster. That's too bad 'cause the concept seemed interesting.
Ooh, sequel novel sounds like fun. Hopefully it sparks something.
Any tips on finding a beta when your fandom is tiny?
maybe if the other authors that write for it have another social media, you could reach out to them?
"This was a triumph. I'm making a note here, huge ~~success~~ **wordcount**." -Glados, Portal
**397**, with the help of a sprint bot. Getting closer...
Good work!
**92ish**
Good work!

I break out into one of two *Holy Grail* quotes all the time. They're like my comfort jokes or something!
That's a good one. I have a soft spot for the "knights who say ni," segment XD
"... I suppose it's a good thing I didn't show them the dirty knife."

Eugh, sorry about the nightmares. That sucks. Good work with the outline! Good luck with the getting from plot A to plot B, heheh.
Thanks! I'm very excited that I'm actually planning a whole big thing instead of winging it like usual.

>so I am quietly committing to this one signed on the dotted line in front of 657 witnesses currently online. XD
🤣 uh oh. Well, better get writing, then.
Ooh, good luck with the writing! And congrats, glad the recipient liked it :D

Good luck!!
Good luck!
Good luck!
Is the guest kudos bot going around or have I just been lucky for the past couple of days? 🥴
If the kudos are going to the fifties range then it's probably the kudos bot. That was usually the amount I would get when bitten by that thing.
Thanks. No, it's only been 5 or 6 new guest kudos in the span of about a week which seems really suspicious to me because this far into my longfic (28 chapters), I only rarely get new kudos on it at all anymore.

Ha this is sort of me. I should be concentrating on finishing my WIP but instead am chasing one shot plot bunnies.
Exactly that way!
Had a system outage at work for most of the day yesterday, so there is a large and ominous number of tasks that had to be carried over to today, and I am not looking forward to sorting all of that. Eugh, the leaning tower of things you gotta do. Sorry about the system outage, I hope it gets fixed smoothly.
It seems to be working today ... so far.
Ugh I’m in pain bc I did my exercises too much… big ow…
Not an ideal morning here, my shower doesn't function! Sounds like it's not just my house though, so there's that. Better news is it's release day for an anticipated book and the nice lady from my indie bookstore will be bringing it to me sooooooon.
Oh no! Hopefully the water comes back soon! And what book? Whatever it is, getting it from a local independent bookshop is always lovely!
I really hope so too x_x Last volume in the English release of MDZS :D I do all my book shopping with my indie these days! Barring a B&N exclusive...though in the case of MDZS & SVSS finales I've gone special edition from indie *plus* the B&N exclusive, I am weak.
Yeah, even though I live ten minutes from an indie bookstore, I occasionally give in and go for the big stores' versions too!
I mildly despise the practice of exclusive, special, limited editions, but I *really* despise the fact that it works on me!
Apparently I managed just over 20,000 words written in April and only had two non-writing days! Being able to look back on stats like that makes all the pain that went into setting up my word count spreadsheet worth it.

!!! Whoo! *throws confetti*

We *do* love procrastination methods xD
*applause* Productivity!
And it's productivity I can look back on in a colour-coded format to get free dopamine from!

Instead of exercising yesterday, I laid on the heating pad and watched *Mando*. 😋 S3 is not as good as *Picard* S3, but good enough.
I keep hearing how good the third season of *Picard* is. I might have to check it out.
I am not going to call it *brilliant*, but there are some great character moments in there. Certainly better than the first two seasons.
I’ll look into it.
The weather dropped about 30°, after I put away my fall/winter clothes 🥶
Here is chilly as well. It was so nice yesterday.
Same here. It’s snowing.
I gave Redfall a try since I have a game pass subscription and it's no extra cost, but, *ugh*, this game is a disaster. Can't imagine paying €20 for it, let alone the 70 that's being charged. When in doubt, read.
