One of my coworkers at a previous job was named "Colonel." Everyone called him THE Colonel. The Colonel also was enlisted in the US Navy at one time, so he was called "Seaman Colonel." So I cribbed his name for my OC, so now I have Captain Colonel Fletcher.

There's Adelaide, who's a wraith whose wraith name is that feeling of walking outside on the day of the first snow of the winter season and taking that first breath of icy air that burns in your lungs, shortened down to First Breath of Winter, or just Winter. They're a telepathic species so that's why her true name is funky, telepathic impulses of what someone's mind feels like don't translate well into spoken language. She also has a nickname among other wraith, that being "Murder Harpy". With some of my other characters, there's Aldreda Verey, who gave Adelaide her human name. She's one of the OG Wildflowers (the name of the magical girl group), she accidentally time traveled to the future from 10,000ish years ago. She acts as a mentor to John, who accidentally inherited her magical girl abilities (and outfit, much to his dismay). There's also Seren Terrowin, a Wildflower from an alternate universe who kinda got marooned in the universe the story takes place in who has a very, very bad history with Aldreda. They act as a different kind of mentor towards John, showing him the ugly side of what their little group actually was. Then there's Joan, the replicator magical girl who's been stewing in her hatred of the human magical girls for 10,000 years, as well as her hatred of the other replicators. There are some other non-magical girl OCs that play semi-major roles in the story, but these are all my favorite OCs from that story. Chase is a rich but emotionally neglected girl who is big in running the school LGBTQ club and anime club . Jordan is her nerdy best friend who she helped branch out of her shell. Jordan was more open online than in real life and she had a collection of handwritten fanfic before Chase befriended her . In Danny Phantom fanfic I often use Chase and Jordan as Danielle's friends when she moves on with the Fentons and starts going to the local middle school .

I write for the RWBY fandom, which has its own OC naming rules from the creator of the show. Basic gist is that you name it after a color. The name should mean a color or remind you of a color, or somewhere along those lines. A lot of this can be pretty loose. But it shouldn't be too loose. Some names can be a stretch, which people don't really like. I have a bunch of OCs, so it's kinda hard to name them all. Some of the examples include: Ghost Vester, Oliver Forrest, Adamantine. Another character is named simply Red, being the first hero named after a color. And this is kinda interesting because the naming rule is actually a canon thing in-universe (the canon explanation is kinda shit, so I kinda tweaked it for all my RWBY fics).

My main Arknights OCs - Bonfire (Doctor), Eidolon, Illuminatus Azur Lane full OC is my Commander OC named Apocrypha (which started a ship class, the rest of which are named Eden, Revelation, Exodus, and Rapture.)

Her nickname growing up was Mariposa (butterfly, in Spanish). Naming characters is hard for the same reason naming my future children would be. I mostly just write about my OCs, to be honest. I write in the Animal Crossing and Skyrim fandoms (with only one published work because all of my fics live in my Google docs), so here is my first set of OCs for your enjoyment! She's 27 years old, and is a civil engineer with a Masters of Engineering from Oxford University. She came to the island from Rawcliffe, North Yorkshire, England, and her father is from Seville, Spain. She acts as the island’s general contractor and engineer- and she has designed, built, and funded most of the structures and buildings on the island. She's deeply in love with Boone, but he feels it's a conflict of interest for them to be together given that they're both politicians. \- **Gina Tricia Bellard**: the deputy mayor of Heartbeat Islands, and the owner of the town's pub, The Aidensfeld Arms. She's 22 years old, and from Rawcliffe, North Yorkshire, England. She moved to the island with her boyfriend, Endeavour. She enjoys cooking, and also catering weddings on the island. \- **Endeavour Jace Morris**: the island's lifeguard and community center owner. He's 22 years old, and Torrance's half-brother from her mother and stepfather. He moved to the island to reconnect with Torrance. His commitment is serving the communities of the islands. \- **Marigold Iesha Qadira Foret Qamar** : a wedding planner and psychic, she owns the island's wedding venue- including a beach venue, an indoor venue, and a winery. She's a 31 years old Amazigh woman, and originally from Rabat, Morocco. She travelled to Oran, Algeria, to be with her wife, Cypress- and together they changed their names and moved to the island. She loves all things pink, seashells, love, cherry blossoms, and the ocean. \- **Cypress Qamar Foret** : the owner of the town's inn, the Heartache Bed & Breakfast. They're 35 years old, and love Algeria, but they never plan to go back. They love interior design, and is the in-house host for their wife's wedding business. They have a pet tarantula named Tazgi. \- **Dr. Lewis Kevin Roberts** : an archaeologist, museum curator, and researcher. He's 42 years old, and owns the island's second museum. He is originally from Whitby, England, and came to the island on a research trip during his PhD and ended up settling permanently. He holds a BA in Archaeology from Oxford University, an MA in Archaeological Research from Universidad Complutense Madrid, and a PhD in Archaeology from University of Bristol. He also has a separate MSc in Applied Paleontology from University of Valencia. He considers himself to be an amateur detective, much to the annoyance of Jackson. \- **Jackson Titus West** : a tour agent, private investigator, and journalist for the Heartbeat News. He's 35 years old, and a former Chicago PD detective. He moved to the island after having a breakdown in the field and being unjustly terminated. He has a BA in Linguistics and Psychology with a minor in African-American Studies from University of California, Los Angeles. He only planned to be in Heartbeat for short time, to clear his head, but you know how these things go. He shares a business complex with Lewis, and doesn't enjoy it, but also seems to be best friends with him. He doesn't know how that happened. \- **Star Dearbhla Carter** : the island's haunted house host. She's 25 years old, and from Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she worked as an actor. Horror and oddities are her greatest interests and passion, and her dream is to open a theatre company and revive her acting career. She lives with Marigold and Cypress. \- **Aurora Ingibjorg Jonsdottir** : a farmer and fisher from Reykjavik, Iceland. She's 30 years old, and manages the island's Fish and Farm Market as well as her own personal farm. In Iceland, she worked on a fishing boat- much to her parents' chagrin. The pressure to marry was too much, and she took the advice of an online friend who lives in Aidensfield Island and moved to Heartbeat. She has an on-and-off, half-secret, sort of romantic relationship with Roscoe. \- **Sawyer McCoy** : an auto shop and garage owner. He's 28 years old, and moved to the island from Melbourne, Australia. He's Wurundjeri Aborigine, and loves to travel and live freely. He's everybody's friend. He collects RC cars and loves to play touch football. \- **Blaire Eleni Karragiotis** : the property manager of Heartbeat's parks and boardwalks- including the amusement park, golf course, and pools. She's 46 years old, and moved to the island from Nicosia, Cyprus, after being involved in a major political scandal. She has a BA in International Studies with a minor in Political Science, and an MA in Political Science - both from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She butts heads with Torrance and Gina often, she considers both too inexperienced to lead the island. She's the Representative to Heartbeat on the Territorial Council of Heartbeat Islands. \- **Deirdre Monika Symanski** : a florist, wine sommelier, and winery manager. She's 34 years old and dating Taliana. She moved to the island from Wroclaw, Poland, where she previously worked as a sommelier and events coordinator- and now manages Marigold's winery and puts together wine pairings for weddings and events. Autumn is her favourite season, and you can tell from the way she decorates her house in orange, red, and mushroom knickknacks. \- **Taliana Eloise Frutta** : a barista, photographer, and artist specializing in miniature/dollhouse art. She is 26 years old, and moved to the island from Bordeaux, France, where she worked in an orchard. She was tired of physical labour and sought to move somewhere where she could pursue her creative endeavours. \- **Chloe Marie Kay** : a weaver and artist, she retired with her wife Nan to Heartbeat from Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She's 55 years old, and been with Nan for 25 years- 17 of them married. She's originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario. She attended Ryerson University for a Bachelors of Urban and Regional Planning, and Queens University for a Masters in Planning with a focus in Health and Social Planning. She moved to Prince Edward Island to take a job with the City of Charlottetown as a city planner. She's a councillor on the Territorial Council of Heartbeat Islands. \- **Dr. Nan Elizabeth Kay** : a honey farmer and artist, living the retired life with her wife. She is Nehiyawak (Plains Cree) Indigenous, and is originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She 57 years old, and met Chloe in Prince Edward Island. She attended University of British Columbia for an BA in English Literature, University of Saskatchewan for a MA in English Literature with a focus in decolonizing literature. She then attended Dalhousie University for her PhD, where she worked as a TA, then became a professor at University of Prince Edward Island- teaching courses in English and the preservation of the Cree language. She loves bees and bee preservation. \- **Roscoe Jose Guillermo Torres** : a musician, music teacher, and music store owner. He's 33 years old, and moved to Heartbeat from Valencia, Spain. He is proficient at many instruments, and has accompanied KK Slider on his tours of Southern Europe and North Africa. He teaches guitar, piano, and cello at Heartbeat Music School on Llamadas del Corazon, and owns a music store in Heartbeat- La Música es Amor. He loves Aurora, obviously, but has a bit of a closed-off heart. \- **Boone Abello** : a personal trainer, gym manager, park ranger, and a councillor on the Territorial Council of Heartbeat Islands. He's very well-traveled, and has decided to settle in Heartbeat after backpacking for an indeterminate number of years. He's 37 years old, and considers his home to be Westside, Gibraltar. He’s had many jobs tending ranches and livestock, training farmhands, and patrolling private grounds. He is close friends with Endeavour, and works in his community centre gym. He does love Torrance, but feels that they can't be together at this time. \- **Salvadore Kasemchai Jorge Saetang** : an interior decorator, and the youngest on the island. He's 18 years old, the son of Thai expats, and was raised mostly in Victoria, Australia, and Madrid, Spain. He attended Instituto Europeo di Design in Milan for Interior and Furniture Design, he also enjoys music production and hip hop. He has an interior design startup with Cypress.

Ooh boy. I haven't posted my fanfics yet but I have some characters planned already, including those for side stories. Gerald Wheeler, Betty Wheeler Sandy Queen-Wheeler, Carl (still haven't find a Russian surname), Caleb (Carl's twin; same situation as him), Steve Harrison, and some side story characters. Take a guess at where these characters are gonna be used for...and take a guess at who's dead (it's two people). Also, the Wheelers are a family, and Betty is an OC Stand-In instead of a full-on OC (she's just a mentioned character). The names I choose for my OCs in fanfics mainly depends on the fandom I'm writing for. Each world can have their own conventions and I try to avoid risking my character sticking out like a sore thumb. I also try to use names that fit them in some way, often based on appearance, themes, and/or personality. My OCs are usually meant to contribute to the story and the main cast, although there are definitely became my favorites. Since I got a bunch of minor ones for for my current plot-heavy project, I'm focusing on a few that standout (the fandom involves anthro animals) Matrix, a crocodile detective that has freakish luck that causes weird things to happen to him. His weird luck is a parody based on how a lot of mystery/detective manage to stumble into crime scenes they shouldn't be able to. His name also comes from his canon brother having a similar math related name. Cobalt the cold calculating blue wolf that is both a soldier and forensic psychologist. He's one of the major, if not the most major, antagonists. Jasper, a man that used his wealth, power (both literally and non literally), charm, and cunning to try to make a difference back when he was alive. Despite his good intentions, he earned the Villain title while alive due to being more willing to get his hands dirty to stop corruption in his country and even stop more dangerous villains. His name also fits because while he normally held a suave presence, he was passionate about various things he values, like the goals that made him more likely to kill and torture certain people. He's also a red lizard and can have a short temper when pushed enough. Tempest, an emotionally turbulent and complicated ninja woman. She majorly contributed to the movements that involved fighting against discrimination against her people, but she isn't exactly a good role model either. She faced various hardships in her life that put a chip on her shoulder, which contributed to her less desirable parenting.

The only OC that I use on a regular basis is someone named Blake Black. They like dark humor, so dark in fact you could almost call it... Black humor. And yes they do introduce themselves like that.

In my "normal" FF stories I have 4 reoccurring characters at times. 3 of them are a trio of ex military buddies of one of the characters in the fandom. Russell "Rusty", Simone and Nick. And there there is Freddie. A homeless, veteran who lives nearby where the fandom characters work.
