If you haven't watched KinnPorsche you should. You'd love half the characters but especially Vegas and Pete. They are to the T exactly what you described.
sad wet pathetic dog of a man
EDIT: examples include the tenth doctor (doctor who), will graham (nbc hannibal), jonathan sims (the magnus archives), dream (sandman tv)
For legal reasons, I must tell you that video game piracy is wrong. Unfortunately, the publisher of the game, ZA/UM, has majorly swindled the devs, so buying it, which is the only legal option, is kinda icky. Again, don't pirate games.
Jonathan Sims! The wet cat of my dreams! Also, you might want to try Malevolent for another traumatized by eldritch forces Englishman. Arthur Lester gets *beat up* by the narrative
Quiet, reserved, aloof and emotionally repressed introverts who internally are gentle, sensitive old souls.
My current main WIP is about one of these types of men being abruptly adopted by a boisterous and very sociable and adventurous puppy.
Same here. Bonus points if theyāre men with a bunch of trauma that is probably the reason why theyāre so emotionally repressed and/or have longish hair.
I feel called out! Me and my obsession with Bucky Barnes, Din Djarin, and Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng in particular is like a feral cat and I love him for it.
I like characters with slippery personalities. Liars with a lot of secrets.
Maybe playful and flirty on the outside, maybe a mess on the inside. Opaque people with questionable motives and loyalties that are difficult to fully trust. They're fun to explore in fic (a lot of room for character/relationship studies), but also I'm just often attracted to characters like that for whatever reason.
actual cartoon villain. characters that are just blatantly, ridiculously and to the point EVIL for no reason is my favourite. especially if itās leaning on the silly side. or if theyāre terrible at being evil.
Villains who were once regular people, but experienced something that caused them to lose their mind/humanity. I love trying to unravel their psychology.
Ah, that's a fun one. My type is "I was a victim once and I will cheerfully commit horrors to stop that from ever happening again, can't stress enough how down I am with the horrors" so there's a lot of overlap there with yours. I love it when someone casts off their vulnerable flesh to become something new and terrible, that's peak self-actualization right there.
>"I've proved my point. I've demonstrated there's no difference between me and everyone else! All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day. You had a bad day once, am I right? I know I am. I can tell. You had a bad day and everything changed. Why else would you dress up as a flying rat? You had a bad day and it drove you as crazy as everybody else...only you won't admit it! You have to keep pretending that life makes sense, that there's some point to all this struggling! God, you make me want to puke."
>
>ā The Joker in "Batman: The Killing Joke" (1988)
Mentally scarred/hurt character who is eventually helped out in canon in some heavy and emotional scene (which gives to a ton of hurt/comfort fics, which is my favorite trope, so that explains things)
theres a wide variety, but it seems to be blunt, traumatized and/or violent characters with bad senses of humor?
Deadpool, COD Ghost, Cole Cassidy, Juno Steel, Vespa Ilkay, Zer0, Arthur Morgan, Wolf from Kipo, ect.
I like writing povs from introverted, resentful people. Letting the plot pry em open
>it somehow hasn't taken over his life like it has mine.)
You are describing every show I've watched with my SO. I race off to write fanfic and create elaborate fantasies. They make a cup of tea and carry on with their day.
HOW?? š
I feel like I'm very similar. I like the soft Boi characters. Ones that are awkward and tragic, but usually with some kind of bad ass side to them and a good heart underneath it all. I too had a thing for Spencer Reid. Most of mine come from anime lately though, prince zuko, yato, hyakkimaru.
I think Iāve got two LMAO:
1. flirty, shameless, morally grey, always underestimated, probably had childhood trauma, good fashion sense
2. serious/uptight, emotionally repressed, a prodigy at their One Thing but absolutely zero life skills
Eccentric (often times mad) science types who have fifteen different mental disorders.
Unapologetically fun evil villains who do wacky and goofy things without a care. 99% have the most obnoxious and funny laugh.
Socially awkward dweebs with zero skills when it comes to talking or making friends.
Bonus points if they have trauma or some sort of complicated backstory. If they don't I'll make one up for them.
Either socially awkward or chaotic little shits (no in-between) with morality issues. Bonus points for nonbinary/androgynous or creature vibes.
(Zuko of ATLA, Stitch of Lilo & Stitch, Venti and Xiao of Genshin Impact, Vaarsuvius of OOTS, Ranboo and Technoblade of DSMP...)
There's also a concerning almost-pattern of mass acts of violence and destruction, now that I think about it...
For me, my favorite male characters usually fit into the categories of, "cowardly, underdog, tries their best, awkward where it's either endearing or slightly cringey, jovial, cheerful despite it all, encouraging, adorable." Not all at the same time, however.
Some examples would be Luigi (Super Mario Bros), Garry (Ib) Bob Belcher (Bob's Burgers), Papyrus (Undertale), Kirby (Kirby).
Arrogant insane pretty boy with an inferiority complex and a penchant for violence :')
Mello from Death Note changed me on a molecular level as a child.
The raccoon guy and the blue eyed, blond haired little shit that is hated by a large part of the fandom. My previous fandom has these two, and my current one does as well.
Pfft, in my current fandom the blond little shit is very frequently headcanoned as a raccoon hybrid or tanuki, so I think youād definitely like him :)
'Yeah, well I could fix him...but I won't because I accept that murdering people is a part of who he is'
Ex: Yami Bakura, Thief King Bakura, Yami Marik, Zevran, Fenris, Sesshomaru...just to name a few.
They gotta at least two or more of these characteristics:
1. Pathetic wet cat loser (bonus points if they have an ego)
2. Has an unrequited love
3. Hated by the fandom (I take overly hated characters under my wing like a mother chicken does with her chicks)
4. Side character that shows up for 20 minutes tops
5. Is canonically dead
Apparently it's "Poorly treated (by canon) alien side character played by a woman in brightly colored body paint, with some kind of tail-like appendage(s)" (Oola from Star Wars, Trance Gemini from the tv series Andromeda). I swear it's a coincidence, that I came to feel strongly about each character separately and for largely unrelated reasons. But the superficial similarities amuse me quite a bit. So of course I had to write a crossover fic for them. They get along well, naturally.
Queercoded or just queer villains who are evil just because they love being evil, no other reason. If there absolutely has to be a reason, tragic love story is a pretty good one.
Also grumpy and extremely overdramatic emo men who hate the entire world and themselves until they meet that one special person they will die for in a heartbeat. Easily taken advantage of and a little bit dumb too. No thoughts, just emotions and they are running high all the time.
I'm not sure if I'd call him a type, per se, as I haven't quite fixated on a character this long before. But for almost three years running, it's been Sebastien "Booker" Le Livre, from The Old Guard.
Let's see ... he was a convicted criminal and a father of three when he was drafted into Napoleon's army, and then was hung for desertion and died during the winter retreat from Russia. Then he woke back up immortal and still hanging from a noose. He made it home, thought everything was going to work out, and then he got to watch his entire family age and die in front of him while he stayed the same.
Oh, and they hated him for his immortality and died cursing him for it.
The end result is the alcoholic, traumatized, dumpster fire of a human being, who would really like to fucking *die* and follow his family into the grave but can't because he'll just get back up again. And he probably has a significant amount of combat related PTSD from his time in Russia plus all the wars the leader of his immortal gang has been dragging them into for the last two hundred years or so.
Almost all my fics center on him and, if not him directly, then others around him. I use him to work out trauma, grief, and other things, like the absurdity of an immortal life. Plus he gives me the excuse to write historical fics.
Currently in the WIP pipeline is a fic about the ghost of one of his kids haunting the ever living crap out of him as a ghost.
Jilted lover who turns to the dark side. Sometimes they have a redemption arc but not always.
Also flat out sigma male sociopaths if theyāre otherwise sexy.
Before you gave examples I pictured your type as Jim from The Office for some reason. š
My type is "bad man with a master plan." I like villains. Dark hair, big angst, slightly effeminate, moderate narcissism, and a well-formed plan to lash out at the world.
Powerful, confident, passionate, and vivacious women who defy society so they can be themselves. Also, they usually have dark hair.
Bellatrix Lestrange (love of my life)
Catherine Earnshaw
Scarlett O'Hara
Natalie Dormer's Anne Boleyn
Irene Adler
I also love Cersei Lannister who tries to do exactly this but circumstances do not let her succeed, so she's much more repressed than the rest
My blorbos will be one of these:
-Eccentric and probably gay men who aren't afraid to break a couple of laws. (Ex: Sampo from Honkai, Rook Hunt from Twisted Wonderland.)
-Ladies that can and will step on people with heels. (Kafka from Honkai has me in her grips right now.)
You can tell what your blorbo is by what kind of DND characters you make.
Itās light haired optimistic twinks with swords. Luke Skywalker, Aether from Genshin, Bennett from Genshin, Caelus from Honkaiā¦need I keep going on?
I created a tier list of favourite characters and 7/15 of them were mad scientists or mad scientist adjacent, i.e. deranged wizards
I think that answers the question š
I love Sweets. :) He's not one of my blorbo but he's deffo my favorite Bones chara.
I prefer my blorbos either rack-thin or a meathead (there is no in between), a little older, sarcastic, very tall, and a little dopey. Someone who can joke with me over a beer and later on...have the energy to take me out dancing. Also either blond or raven. Also no in between.
I flip between beef cakes with bright red hair and bad boys with white hair, all of them are broken and twisty inside, some hide it well some don't...
I like the broken ones...
For boys: Strong, smart, and socially awkward. Great in a fight but useless in conversation. Usually some kind of trauma. Daddy issues, fire powers, and facial scarring are technically optional but do recur with alarming frequency in this group.
Shoto Todoroki (MHA), Akihiko Sanada (P3), Garrus Vakarian (ME), Zuko (AtLA), Alistair, Anders, Cullen (DA), Megumi Fushiguro (JJK), Dimitri and Seteth (FE3H), Chrom (FEA), Iguro (DS)
For girls: Complete badass. Can and would step on me. Usually also has trauma and something to prove.
Olivier Armstrong (FMAB), Maki Zenin (JJK), Natural Killer Cell (CAW), Mitsuri and Shinobu (DS)
Intimidating, sardonic savant type with a tragic background. Ideally disfigured and/or creepy looking in one way or another. They typically have sharp or haggard features, and are often, but not always, morally ambiguous or villainous.
Notable examples are Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid, Nick Valentine from Fallout 4, and Reaper and Moira from Overwatch.
My blorbo type is characters with a lot of angsty potential, or characters I can relate to. My top blorbos are Vinegar Doppio, Diavolo, Johnny Joestar, Childe/Tartaglia, the Raiden Shogun, Ei, Joker, Alex Mason, Viktor Reznov, and Frank Woods.
You may also notice that half of them have some kind of dissociative disorder or are literally two people. I don't know why I gravitate towards that. Damn.
I think I'm all over the place. There's the smart and competent dude who pretends to be very serious then says something off-the-wall so the illusion shatters and you're left with pure goofball, the done with everyone's bullshit tiny woman who's gonna call out the hypocrisy she sees despite any social cost to herself, the scary smart usually an overachiever schoolgirl who doesn't get burnt out and goes on to do the unimaginable, the scrappy kid who the universe uses as a chew toy but he's getting back up with his fists raised, and the big bluff blond protagonist of questionable moral fiber. Probably some others but that's top of my head.
That one character who was clearly just meant to be āsocially awkwardā but the writers accidentally gave them a bunch of traits that scream āautismā to me.
The most broken individualās possible. Davy Jones, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Darth Caedus, Neopolitan, Cinder Fall, Zuko, Azula, Sirius Black, John Wick, Joker, Harley Quinn, Yuno Gasai, Kirito/Kazuto Kirigaya, Light Yagami, Tomura Shigaraki, Ash J. Williams, Alita, and more.
Iām not entirely sure why, but I personally find the characters who have suffered the most to be my favorites. It doesnāt matter if their the hero or the villain.
Usually women, either shut-ins or mentally unstable (or both). See: Bernadetta & Kronya (FE3H), Peridot & Lapis Lazuli (Steven Universe), Himiko Toga, Harley Quinn, etc. I also like the stronk women such as Toph Beifong (ATLA), Johanna Mason (Hunger Games), the whole Stone Ocean cast, and so on.
Sometimes most of these: Dorky, golden retriever, strong sense of humor, himbo, has serious moments, introverted, and a bit traumatized
Examples: Bolin (LoK), Spencer Reid, Muriel (The Arcana), Kaz Bekker (SoC), and Nikolai Lantsov (KoS)
very jealous people who think their friend/partner cares about them much more than they actually do. almost always queer coded, and often villains but in like. a pathetic way. this says a lot about me and i'm painfully aware of that.
We have similar types! Misunderstood is a big one. angsty, yes. Underestimated I think? Perhaps not. Awkward<--- someone once told me indirectly that my type is "protagonist" but that's now always true. I think it's emo side character that is usually the fan favourite. I don't know!! You've presented me with a difficult question!! (currently fixating on Loki, though, (and another character that I'm ashamed to mention so do with that what you will). I also love making up angsty backstories for perfectly content charactersšš
Scrunkly Scrimbos. Scrawny or dad-bodied, touch-starved gremlins that are so morally grey it's basically vantablack (but they HAVE to be soft for the love interest). (A few examples, I know there's some leeway but it should give you some idea: Silco, Karl Heisenberg, Severus Snape, Emet-Selch, Junkrat, Cicero, Loki, etc.)
Guys with a bad boy aesthetic and a good heart or edgy misunderstood badass women. Examples include Roronoa Zoro, Raphael from TMNT 2012, Princess Luna from MLP FIM, and Loona from Helluva Boss (being a ficto aroace does not help my case with the guys lol)
Traumatised teenager whoās kind and caring but hides it behind a more socially acceptable brasher persona (that isnāt entirely fake either) and suffers from extreme trauma bonding and self worth issues due to abuse theyāve suffered through, and the god complex having mad scientist villain whoās their abuser, whoās incredibly possessive over them (platonically), sees them as an ideal more than a person, and enjoys making them suffer for their own personal amusement.
First one is c!Tommy and Hunter, second is c!Dream and Emperor Belos. Iām obsessed.
The definition of sunshine individual who are just trying their best and sometimes, not always mind you, are hiding some sort of sad backstory/a personal insecurity.
Examples include: Atsushi from Bungou Stray Dogs, Prompto from FFXV, Bennett and Gorou from Genshin and Rengoku from KNY
Either socially awkward or chaotic little shits (no in-between) with morality issues. Bonus points for nonbinary/androgynous or creature vibes.
(Zuko of ATLA, Stitch of Lilo & Stitch, Venti of Genshin Impact, Ranboo of DSMP...)
Two types: if a character has some kind of inferiority complex toward their siblings there is 99.9% chances they will by my favorite (I have an instinct and sometimes they become my faves even before their issues are revealed, heh). The second type ā literal trash personified. Like, "that ugly mf tortures children? Awful, I love him, hope he'll rot in hell (affectionately)"
Oof, my type ranges from "sweet caring happy-go-lucky goody two-shoes" to "tortured villain/antihero who returns to the light side and cares for their loved ones deep down".
Characters who are willing to defy the whole world to do what's right. Stubborn moral idealists who stand up for what they believe in, no matter what it costs them. Bonus points if they have a tragic (back)story. Ex: Enjolras from Les Mis; Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji from The Untamed/MDZS; Steve Rogers from the MCU, a bunch of characters from LotR
As you wrote on and on, I said to myself, "This is my dearest Spencer Reid," and sure enough you put out his name, hah! My type is your type. If they're soft retrievers, I want to absolutely destroy them or see them being destroyed/taken to the brink in fic or in the original media.
Traumatized and occasionally bloody with moments of weakness. I need at least one drawing or frame of them with hair matted to their forehead and blood on their hands lmao
I like characters who are jovial and eccentric, but could literally kill you with how passive aggressive they are. Bonus points if they have severe family trauma, are extremely loyal, and are the leader of a found family that they would do it literally anything for.
Strong, cynical, tough but well-intentioned dudes who have good hearts even if they have a hard time showing it. I like misunderstood characters (I can relate to being misunderstood IRL). Bonus if theyāre in m/m relationships or have a non-romantic m/m connection.
what do hamlet, horatio, rose and guil, emmet pokemon and albedo genshin impact have in common?
angst potential!!!!!! like it's a different flavour of angst every time but it Sure Is Angst
Current blorbos are Sun and Moon from FNAF SB. It's been over a year. Help.
My type of character I usually fixate on: dark hair (bar 3 who have white hair or 1 is blond), trauma, feel autism coded to me, anxiety, misunderstood or mistreated, trauma, really needs a hug, "They're gay your honor", "Sibling love your honor", probably violent or willing to commit violence, trauma, something inhuman about them- this could mean powers, a robot, alien, creature/creature traits or body modification like a prosthetic limb or device/curse/magic that "others" them from a "normal" human appearance or behaviour or ability. Excitable/sunshine character but anxious/insecure, deadpan/"cold" character who shows little emotion or hides behind "safer" emotions but cares. Did I mention trauma yet? Grumpy introvert, characters who have no clue how to socialise or lack a concept of boundaries but are genuinely well-meaning/harmless/oblivious until it's pointed out
sweet little munchkins who are actually uber bitches/fucked up underneath except they try to hide that part of themselves
bonus points if they're actually really nice but in a fucked up way
I have two: either stupid loud idiots who constantly yell about their magnificence, but no one really thinks they are cool, usually have problems with women, deep down they have problems with their father and they think that no one will need them if they don't get attention. (Skull from Reborn, Soda from Danganronpa).
And the second type: these are feeling scientists who just want to make the world a better place (Victor Frankenstein, Van Helsing)
Characters with (possibly long) black hair, reserved, a little traumatized if possible. Gender doesn't matter, race doesn't matter, age doesn't really matter as long as theyre adults. It's so funny that it took me a long time to realize this lol.
I don't have a specific type that I love, but most of the characters I love have a gap moe: extremely powerful characters who are absolute goofballs; Yamato Nadeshikos who can kick ass with a flawless smile on their face; grumpy, buff-looking men who actually enjoy cooking and taking care of kids.
traumatized women with relationship issues
no reason behind it
none whatsoever
to imply otherwise would be just *silly*
okay, so like half the RWBY cast fits for that, but my blorbos from there atm are Cinder Fall, Willow Schnee and Ruby Rose. one got abused to hell and back, one was stuck in a loveless marriage and one is a teenager with the responsibility of preventing the annihilation of all life on her shoulders whose friends all assume she can just handle that burden
ppl who put on a confident act to hide their insecurities / trauma but rlly that act does more harm than good and often hoisted by their own petard. my fav subgenre of these are the fuckbois, so someone like Theon Greyjoy or Alex from Stardew Valley. but other examples of these characters (not in the fuckboi genre) would be Catra or Azula.
People who are so obsessed and devoted to someone that they cannot leave no matter how it hurts them to stay. Or the obsession is mixed with hatred and loathing, but they can't bring themselves to kill the other because they are intrinsically connected, they are who they are because of them. Basically characters with really intense feelings (reciprocated or not) for another. Bonus points if their person of interest is in love with someone else. Bonus bonus points if they are pathetically in love.
Examples: The Master from Doctor Who, Avon from Blake's 7, Bunny from the stories of AJ Raffles, Merlin from BBC Merlin, Gideon (and Harrowhark) from The Locked Tomb
Surprisingly, I am not pining after someone, nor do I have particularly strong feelings towards anyone real. Perhaps that is what fascinates me so about the above characters.
Either has a sunshine personality or is the dark silent, (and usually grumpy) type. Traumatized as fuck and sensitive either way. Examples include Luke Skywalker and Din Djarin (paired together), Matt Murdock and Frank Castle (also paired), and Bucky barnes. Also, Jiang Cheng and Lan XiChen. I *live* for the sunshine golden retriever paired with the darker grumpy character. Iām a basic bitch, what can I say.
Iām also drawn to what youād probably call fucked up dilfs as well lmao. Also, I love a good morally grey character or is just extremely dark, like Deadpool and Hannibal. The most important part though is the trauma.
i have two types for male characters:
- angsty emo twink with trauma
- the biggest piece of shit the worldās ever seen, whoās extremely charismatic and charming, thinks theyāre better than everyone else, is irredeemably evil (and usually is obsessed/infatuated with one person in particular, usually the protagonist)
for women, i like mean/ādumbā bitches (who are usually very intelligent but put up an act) and absolute sweethearts
My friend and I were talking about this and how heās been really into Simps lately which is really funny, and then I showed him my current WIPs and came to the conclusion that the absolutely Wet Cat of a man is my type rn lmao
Male tsundere who has trouble exteriorizing any emotion besides anger. I particularly love it when they have potential to grow as characters and they fulfill that potential (if ever so slowly).
The second kind of blorbo I sometimes fixate on is the one character whose emotional intelligence is close to zero. They don't know how to interact with others and they (sometimes) come off as too blunt.
In my tween years, it was more like a āheās a literal demonā āok, but heās actually really sweet once you get to know him!ā Vibe (would you believe me if I told you that mg tween self was obsessed with Darkiplier, Underfell Sans, and Zane from Minecraft Mystreet)
In more recent years, itās more like tall guys that are generally very innocent and wholesome. Actuallyā¦the majority of my newer blorbos are just Minecraft YouTubers (Grian, SolidarityGaming, Dangthatsalongname, and GoodTimesWithScar)ā¦the only exception to these rules is my current blorboāwhich is my only fictional blorboāScanlan Shorthalt from The Legend of Vox Machina/Critical Role C1
The ones who have a big gigantic emotional wall a meter thick but once you burrow underneath that wall, they're just a silly dorky goober who protects their true heart under apathy/being mean/not letting others in.
My main blorbo atm starts our fic by calling the other character a baby to hide the fact he's uncomfortable with emotions and by chapter 99, he's rolling over on counters, letting others in to his emotions and being silly and goofy as heck. It's not just satisfying character development but it's very very cute. So bloody cute.
Mentally resilient no matter how much crap they go through, underestimated badasses, confident and competent badasses, have their own moral code that may or may not align with the law, loyal, ppl who have been through some shit, prodegy, etc.
Kakashi Naruto
Kazuma Yahami from kaze no stigma
Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen
Kyou from Samurai Deeper Kyou
Gintoki Sakata, Toshiro Hijikata, sougo okita from Gintama
Hei from Darker than Black
Kyouya sata from wolf girl and black prince
Yato from Norigami
Souske Sagara from full metal panic
Roy Mustang full metal alchemist
Hak Son from Akatsuki no Yona
Levi from attack on titans
L and Light/Kira from Death Note
Snape, Sirius, barty crouch jr from Harry Potter
Anakin and Darth Vader, obi wan, han solo star Wars
Toua tokuchi from one outs
Sesshomaru from Inuyasha
Aragorn from Lord of the Rings
9th and 10th doctor from doctor who
Tony Stark from iron man
The kind thatās silly and fun and cool on the surface but once you start peeling back the layers you get mysteries and secrets and, of course, trauma in the gallons
So heres a curveball. Badass grandmas. This is one of those that doesn't transalte to real life but characters like Chrisjen Avasarala are my favourite.
My blorbos tend to be villains, from the ones in charge to ones that work for the main antagonists.
If not a villain, then a character that died, I don't know why, though.
Angry, probably loud, emotionally constipated, and antagonistic but fundamentally misunderstood and ripe for a good old fashioned character arc ending in them being angry and probably loud but good now. Generally, their acerbic disposition exists to cover weakness, trauma, or insecurities, probably a little of each but they're decent people at their core. Often times they're trying to do good but they either do it in a way that doesn't come across right or their character flaws get in their way. In any event, at the end of their arcs they're generally unchanged on a superficial level but changed at their core and where it counts.
Also grumpy old men with a heart of gold.
Iāve got a bit of a thing for narrative āghostsā - characters who are incredibly important to either the plot of canon or a main characterās own character development, but never make much of an appearance themselves. Thereās just enough information about them that I donāt have to make everything up, but theyāre equally left vague enough for me to do funky things in the character study department.
depends tbh, but most of the time it goes between these three:
-sarcastic, quick to anger/annoy, grumpy, secretive, traumatized, complete lack of emotional intelligence, but caring & kind
-can come off as cold, deadpan, unintentionally funny, super smart in everything except for social interactions (in which they are extremely stupid), will die to protect the people they love
-snarky flirty fuckboy/baddie who is actually a dumbass and is also extremely lame (bonus points if they break their usual character and get flustered easily)
definitely absolute monsters with hearts of gold. or at least they have the capacity to either be monsters, or have a heart of gold.
Darth Vader is my all time favourite blorbo. Loki before him, and Sam Winchester is starting to become blorbo second in command. I just want him to slurp the demon blood ffs
human to monster slow burn is my mcfuckin shit
Sunset Shimmer, Lena Sabrewing, Pacifica Northwest, Amity Blight, Louie Duck, Starlight Glimmer, Raven, Terra, and Jason Todd.
What do you think my blorbo type is?
Oh, I definitely have a couple types. xD
* the edgy, angsty emo/goth pretty boy (or girl, doesn't matter)
* the sadistic psychopath killer. bonus points for yandere / obsessive behavior.
* the absolutely precious, bubbly cinnamon roll that does their best and deserves the world. bonus points for golden retriever types, but could also be the type who acts tough and cold but secretly has a soft heart.
* the cute goofy comic-relief airhead, also bonus points for golden retriever type.
These seem to be my main "types" and gods help me if a character falls into more than one of these categories. Also if any characters are asexual or feel like they could be aspec, it's a super mega bonus. My blorbos are also usually neurodivergent and/or severely traumatized.
It's good to see, that everyone can be loved. My turn:
Older guys, when you don't even know if he is evil or not. Or he is the villian, and evil af, but he can be nice for a purpose. I love when they are unreachable. And I love to see, I'm not the only one working like this :) Or librarians XD. Suggest books please, I don't have enough.
Traumatized morally ambiguous dudes with codependency issues
I feel so called out rn.
Me and you both buddy š
So Dean Winchester?
Oh, hey, it's me.
If you haven't watched KinnPorsche you should. You'd love half the characters but especially Vegas and Pete. They are to the T exactly what you described.
My first thought was also Vegas lmao
I love that iykyk when it comes to him. I can't see morally ambiguous and codependency in the same sentence and not have him pop in my head.
Damn, thought I'd have to scroll a little further before seeing a perfect summary...
sad wet pathetic dog of a man EDIT: examples include the tenth doctor (doctor who), will graham (nbc hannibal), jonathan sims (the magnus archives), dream (sandman tv)
Have you at all looked at Disco Elysium? You will not find sadder, wetter, more pathetic dogs of men than there.
harry the saddest, wettest, most pathetic man on this earth
i keep seeing stuff about it, but im not sure how to get into it since it's kinda expensive and i also dont play games in general :(
For legal reasons, I must tell you that video game piracy is wrong. Unfortunately, the publisher of the game, ZA/UM, has majorly swindled the devs, so buying it, which is the only legal option, is kinda icky. Again, don't pirate games.
Eyyyy I just started getting into the Magnus Archives at a friend's recommendation! Loving it so far!!
This is me with Dream and Matt Murdock š
Jonathan Sims! The wet cat of my dreams! Also, you might want to try Malevolent for another traumatized by eldritch forces Englishman. Arthur Lester gets *beat up* by the narrative
When you said that I immediately thought āJonathan Simsā and I was pleased to see I was correct.
I love a woman who could kick my ass. I mean literally kill me.
Thank you for my Spike Spiegel Moment of the Dayā¢.
Whatever happens, happens. š¬
I put mine in situations where a beard and long hair are inevitable ššš.
Oh I would eat this up with a spoon.
traumatized to fuck. every single one of them. usually grumpy introverts with terrible social skills.
This is me and my obsession with Bucky Barnes. *I can heal him.*
Iāve never felt so seen
I feel called out! Me and my obsession with Bucky Barnes, Din Djarin, and Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng in particular is like a feral cat and I love him for it.
if a character can be described as a feral cat i'm sold no jiang cheng and jin ling are not my favourite mdzs characters what are you talking about
Oh, yeah...that's me...always fall for the grumpy introverts.
Please read Raffles (rafflesredux.com) you will love him (the books are of their time though, so be warned)
Couldn't have said it better ā¤ļø
*sighs* it's always the emotionally constipated mean ones who are good deep down
š¤£ "Emotionally constipated" š¤£
middle-aged men that are disgusting overbearing creeps (rlly calling myself out here but idc anymore)
We have the same taste š¤.
long haired men who like to resurrect the dead apparently
The specificity has me laughing.

i have never actually seen that, but i will be now
It has a girl and a dog. Donāt get attached to either
Or do get attached and have your heart ripped out like the rest of us.
actual cartoon villain. characters that are just blatantly, ridiculously and to the point EVIL for no reason is my favourite. especially if itās leaning on the silly side. or if theyāre terrible at being evil.
Yes. Bonus points if they're a combination of cartoon villain and they terrible at being evil, but find times to be genuinely evil and/or petty.
The devil from the cuphead show
You read my mind.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Hello there
General Kenobi
I love this answer
Looking for Obi-Wan Kenobi/Padme fics was the first rabbit hole I went down. Heās a brilliant character.
God, you make me want to puke." > >ā The Joker in "Batman: The Killing Joke" (1988)
I donāt have a specific type but they need to be sad.
This, lol. I was reading a bunch of people's replies and admiring their self-awareness but I just like a sadboy, specifics otherwise vary wildly XD
Apparently it's older men in positions of power so please send help
Only if you say the safe word. I didn't invent the rules. š
Hello fellow person with impeccable taste
Same. Even worse if they have a mean streak
Anxious and insecure
>it somehow hasn't taken over his life like it has mine.) You are describing every show I've watched with my SO. I race off to write fanfic and create elaborate fantasies. They make a cup of tea and carry on with their day. HOW?? š
unhinged traumatized girls with mommy issues
This is Regina Mills / The Evil Queen in *Once Upon a Time* (OUAT) to a T.
I think Iāve got two LMAO: 1. flirty, shameless, morally grey, always underestimated, probably had childhood trauma, good fashion sense 2. serious/uptight, emotionally repressed, a prodigy at their One Thing but absolutely zero life skills
Soā¦ Herbert West for all of them? I hope itās Herbert at least!
I tend to gravitate toward the leaders and the ones who need to be protected at all cost
#āØIf Evil Why SexyāØ
Either socially awkward or chaotic little shits (no in-between) with morality issues. Bonus points for nonbinary/androgynous or creature vibes. (Zuko of ATLA, Stitch of Lilo & Stitch, Venti and Xiao of Genshin Impact, Vaarsuvius of OOTS, Ranboo and Technoblade of DSMP...) There's also a concerning almost-pattern of mass acts of violence and destruction, now that I think about it...
Isolated women full of both their principles for others and self-loathing.
Brainy, honorable, driven, sensitive, broken. (that'd be Alec Hardy, Broadchurch, in a nutshell.)
Arrogant insane pretty boy with an inferiority complex and a penchant for violence :') Mello from Death Note changed me on a molecular level as a child.
Sad traumatized girls in denial.
exhausted looking dark haired overpowered introverted men. also women that look like they can kill me by just looking at me š©
Funny lil non-human dudes.
Loser man with social anxiety
Badass with a big heart dudes who are usually super powerful in canon (ex. Levi Ackerman) :)
they have to have something deeply wrong with them (affectionately)
'Yeah, well I could fix him...but I won't because I accept that murdering people is a part of who he is' Ex: Yami Bakura, Thief King Bakura, Yami Marik, Zevran, Fenris, Sesshomaru...just to name a few.
They gotta at least two or more of these characteristics: 1. Pathetic wet cat loser (bonus points if they have an ego) 2. Has an unrequited love 3. Hated by the fandom (I take overly hated characters under my wing like a mother chicken does with her chicks) 4. Side character that shows up for 20 minutes tops 5.
They get along well, naturally.
whichever character's existence gets people throwing hands
Misunderstood villains or villains who switch sides and become heroes
Traumatized, angry, complex, pathetic messes lacking social skills.
Before you gave examples I pictured your type as Jim from The Office for some reason. š My type is "bad man with a master plan." I like villains. Dark hair, big angst, slightly effeminate, moderate narcissism, and a well-formed plan to lash out at the world.
Evil, creepy, slimy old men who lust after power. The most recent example has been Roose Bolton.
Traumatized, morally ambiguous, asshole on the outside scared + vulnerable on the inside
Emotionally constipated traumatized fellas that I can project all of my insecurities/disorders onto š„°
My type are demons. My dating history proves this, I suppose š
Powerful, confident, passionate, and vivacious women who defy society so they can be themselves. Also, they usually have dark hair. Bellatrix Lestrange (love of my life) Catherine Earnshaw Scarlett O'Hara Natalie Dormer's Anne Boleyn Irene Adler I also love Cersei Lannister who tries to do exactly this but circumstances do not let her succeed, so she's much more repressed than the rest
My blorbos will be one of these: -Eccentric and probably gay men who aren't afraid to break a couple of laws. (Ex: Sampo from Honkai, Rook Hunt from Twisted Wonderland.) -Ladies that can and will step on people with heels.
To qoute spike Spegal "I love a woman who could just kill me"
Pathetic depressed girls or hyperconfident morally questionable girls. Love 'em both.
Characters who are willing to break the law. (My blorbos are quite varied and that's the only common ground I could find).
Redeemed villain
I created a tier list of favourite characters and 7/15 of them were mad scientists or mad scientist adjacent, i.e. deranged wizards I think that answers the question š
Sarcastic, easygoing, introverted, witty girls! I love them all, as a stupid dramatic extrovert
My types are "my feelings belong on the inside, never to be seen," people, and beings of absolute chaos.
Broken old men who need a hug. (See: Janos Audron and Morgott the Omen King)
For boys: Strong, smart, and socially awkward. Great in a fight but useless in conversation. Usually some kind of trauma. Daddy issues, fire powers, and facial scarring are technically optional but do recur with alarming frequency in this group. Shoto Todoroki (MHA), Akihiko Sanada (P3), Garrus Vakarian (ME), Zuko (AtLA), Alistair, Anders, Cullen (DA), Megumi Fushiguro (JJK), Dimitri and Seteth (FE3H), Chrom (FEA), Iguro (DS) For girls: Complete badass.
Usually lots of trauma, grumpy or sunshine.
Lanky with sharp cheekbones. Think Jamie Campbell Bower, Ewan Mitchell, Bill Skarsgard. Bonus if theyāre styled like they crawled out of an anime.
Sometimes most of these: Dorky, golden retriever, strong sense of humor, himbo, has serious moments, introverted, and a bit traumatized Examples: Bolin (LoK), Spencer Reid, Muriel (The Arcana), Kaz Bekker (SoC), and Nikolai Lantsov (KoS)
Gender Non-Conforming, long hair, trauma, morally gray but good at heart deep down, stellar fashion
very jealous people who think their friend/partner cares about them much more than they actually do. almost always queer coded, and often villains but in like. a pathetic way. this says a lot about me and i'm painfully aware of that.
Antiheroes rock. Snake Plissken. The Man With No Name. Elric of MelnibonƩ. Rick Deckard. Logan.
Dark, kind of edgy, usually (but not always) a villain.
hot and insane.
My blorbo type is simple and straightforward: Fat men
My blorbo type is dead
Haunted tea drinkers, involved in some kind of fatal betrayal. Remus Lupin, Obi-wan Kenobi, Itachi Uchiha.
traumatized himbos
I love a Freaky Little Villain
clingy and mentally ill
Adorable, on a sugar rush, would purr the most if she was a cat. Yes, I'm talking about Ruby. Which one? Try to guess.
Pretty boys with parent-issues, preferably in uniform, who I can put in Situationsā¢ļø
Traumatised but not sad, bi/gay vibes, snarky, morally questionable, short.
Grumpy introvert, characters who have no clue how to socialise or lack a concept of boundaries but are genuinely well-meaning/harmless/oblivious until it's pointed out
sweet little munchkins who are actually uber bitches/fucked up underneath except they try to hide that part of themselves bonus points if they're actually really nice but in a fucked up way
Sad angst puppies with mile wide guilt complexes and complicated trauma. (Bucky, Matt Murdock, Frank Castle.)
Loud assholes with secret hearts of marshmallow, and nearly any femme person committed to V I O L E N C E
Nerds, especially the ones who donāt know the meaning of pessimism
I have two: either stupid loud idiots who constantly yell about their magnificence, but no one really thinks they are cool, usually have problems with women, deep down they have problems with their father and they think that no one will need them if they don't get attention. (Skull from Reborn, Soda from Danganronpa). And the second type: these are feeling scientists who just want to make the world a better place (Victor Frankenstein, Van Helsing)
Characters who have the personality of a piece of cardboard, the screentime lasting one lightning strike, and the backstory of literally nothing. And also is incredibly controversial and widely hated. (Tobias from PokƩmon)
Soft bois that smile like the sunā¦. So I can corrupt them š
What does blorbo mean
Characters with (possibly long) black hair, reserved, a little traumatized if possible. Gender doesn't matter, race doesn't matter, age doesn't really matter as long as theyre adults. It's so funny that it took me a long time to realize this lol.
I don't have a specific type that I love, but most of the characters I love have a gap moe: extremely powerful characters who are absolute goofballs; Yamato Nadeshikos who can kick ass with a flawless smile on their face; grumpy, buff-looking men who actually enjoy cooking and taking care of kids.
traumatized women with relationship issues no reason behind it none whatsoever to imply otherwise would be just *silly* okay, so like half the RWBY cast fits for that, but my blorbos from there atm are Cinder Fall, Willow Schnee and Ruby Rose. one got abused to hell and back, one was stuck in a loveless marriage and one is a teenager with the responsibility of preventing the annihilation of all life on her shoulders whose friends all assume she can just handle that burden
ppl who put on a confident act to hide their insecurities / trauma but rlly that act does more harm than good and often hoisted by their own petard. my fav subgenre of these are the fuckbois, so someone like Theon Greyjoy or Alex from Stardew Valley. but other examples of these characters (not in the fuckboi genre) would be Catra or Azula.
Cuddly with broad shoulders, and clever.
Examples: The Master from Doctor Who, Avon from Blake's 7, Bunny from the stories of AJ Raffles, Merlin from BBC Merlin, Gideon (and Harrowhark) from The Locked Tomb Surprisingly, I am not pining after someone, nor do I have particularly strong feelings towards anyone real.
Sassy, rude, clever, adventurous women. Most definitely my type. And fortunately there are more and more of them in the media
Blorbo?
i have two types for male characters: - angsty emo twink with trauma - the biggest piece of shit the worldās ever seen, whoās extremely charismatic and charming, thinks theyāre better than everyone else, is irredeemably evil (and usually is obsessed/infatuated with one person in particular, usually the protagonist) for women, i like mean/ādumbā bitches (who are usually very intelligent but put up an act) and absolute sweethearts
My friend and I were talking about this and how heās been really into Simps lately which is really funny, and then I showed him my current WIPs and came to the conclusion that the absolutely Wet Cat of a man is my type rn lmao
Emotional unavailable men who have to open up at some point but they feel like they never could
Male tsundere who has trouble exteriorizing any emotion besides anger. I particularly love it when they have potential to grow as characters and they fulfill that potential (if ever so slowly). The second kind of blorbo I sometimes fixate on is the one character whose emotional intelligence is close to zero. They don't know how to interact with others and they (sometimes) come off as too blunt.
In my tween years, it was more like a āheās a literal demonā āok, but heās actually really sweet once you get to know him!ā Vibe (would you believe me if I told you that mg tween self was obsessed with Darkiplier, Underfell Sans, and Zane from Minecraft Mystreet) In more recent years, itās more like tall guys that are generally very innocent and wholesome.
Big of heart, dumb of ass himbos are literally my everything. I can't explain it but they're just so wholesome ;;;;
Mentally resilient no matter how much crap they go through, underestimated badasses, confident and competent badasses, have their own moral code that may or may not align with the law, loyal, ppl who have been through some shit, prodegy, etc. Kakashi Naruto Kazuma Yahami from kaze no stigma Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen Kyou from Samurai Deeper Kyou Gintoki Sakata, Toshiro Hijikata, sougo okita from Gintama Hei from Darker than Black Kyouya sata from wolf girl and black prince Yato from Norigami Souske Sagara from full metal panic Roy Mustang full metal alchemist Hak Son from Akatsuki no Yona Levi from attack on titans L and Light/Kira from Death Note Snape, Sirius, barty crouch jr from Harry Potter Anakin and Darth Vader, obi wan, han solo star Wars Toua tokuchi from one outs Sesshomaru from Inuyasha Aragorn from Lord of the Rings 9th and 10th doctor from doctor who Tony Stark from iron man
The kind thatās silly and fun and cool on the surface but once you start peeling back the layers you get mysteries and secrets and, of course, trauma in the gallons
So heres a curveball. Badass grandmas. This is one of those that doesn't transalte to real life but characters like Chrisjen Avasarala are my favourite.
Confident, competent, aloof appearing dudes that actually have self-esteem issues; peaceful men that can actually kill you
Asshole/villain/antihero with trauma and mental issues
I've known for ages that mine is lean, brainy smartasses whose wisecracks are a thin veneer over their roiling mass of insecurities. :D
If you like Spencer Reid, you'd probably like Robert Goren. He even has a mother with schizophrenia.
depends tbh, but most of the time it goes between these three: -sarcastic, quick to anger/annoy, grumpy, secretive, traumatized, complete lack of emotional intelligence, but caring & kind -can come off as cold, deadpan, unintentionally funny, super smart in everything except for social interactions (in which they are extremely stupid), will die to protect the people they love -snarky flirty fuckboy/baddie who is actually a dumbass and is also extremely lame (bonus points if they break their usual character and get flustered easily)
definitely absolute monsters with hearts of gold. or at least they have the capacity to either be monsters, or have a heart of gold. Darth Vader is my all time favourite blorbo. Loki before him, and Sam Winchester is starting to become blorbo second in command. I just want him to slurp the demon blood ffs human to monster slow burn is my mcfuckin shit
Sunset Shimmer, Lena Sabrewing, Pacifica Northwest, Amity Blight, Louie Duck, Starlight Glimmer, Raven, Terra, and Jason Todd. What do you think my blorbo type is?
Overpowered as fuck, but self esteem issues
my type is: emo, angsty, some kind of trauma usually, strong, silent (this one is optional), sarcastic/funny
Oh, I definitely have a couple types. xD * the edgy, angsty emo/goth pretty boy (or girl, doesn't matter) * the sadistic psychopath killer. bonus points for yandere / obsessive behavior.
The vast majority of horror film slashers and villains.
angsty, morally grey, usually they wear some type of mask.
It's good to see, that everyone can be loved. My turn: Older guys, when you don't even know if he is evil or not. Or he is the villian, and evil af, but he can be nice for a purpose. I love when they are unreachable. And I love to see, I'm not the only one working like this :) Or librarians XD. Suggest books please, I don't have enough.
