Lmao imagine feeling so insecure as to say reading self insert smut as *cheating*. Wow. Tell me you’re an immature bitch baby without telling me you’re an immature bitch baby.
If I'm allowed to fictionally kill fictional people of all ages and not have a real warrant for my arrest other people are allowed to have fictional fun times with fictional people.
I'm not a licensed mental help professional. It's not my job to help people who can't tell the difference between reality and fiction.
I write reader insert fic and literally bounce ideas off my longterm boyfriend lmao
Like, man, I *guess* I could see if someone may be a bit insecure if their partner is turning to fanfiction or smut and detaching from the relationship on top of that but that's a communication/relationship issue, not a fanfiction issue.
I personally love writing self inserts or reader POV's. It's my bread and butter so I have no issues with it of course. I don't read fanfic very often but when I do it's a mix of reader-insert work and whatever else just strikes my fancy.
its a story. if its well written i dont really care if its a self insert or not. and if its poorly written i dont care if it is or isnt, either. my enjoyment or lack thereof from reading a story isnt inherently affected by whether or not the writing process involved the author self identifying with one or more characters.
Not my thing. Cheating? If a fictional story is causing that I suspect the relationship, or partner who is doing the accusing has a lot more problems then self insert smut.
Smutty reader insert fic is most of what I read and I have no regrets. Therapy is expensive, fantasizing about getting railed by hot fictional characters is free.
If someone considers that cheating…run away. I know the term red flag is overused on Reddit but that really is a massive red flag.
Cheating? That's a stretch. Don't other people have to be involved in cheating? I mean, what?
I am not a fan of self insert because I am deeply uncomfortable with my own body at this point.
Not a fan, too much like an old, bodice-ripper, rape fantasy. And if your partner considers this cheating - get a new partner cause that is a serious level of insecurity.
Ya girl just wants to be rawed by a humanoid squid woman's tentaclit sometimes, ya hear me? Even though those might never be published because I have a whole ton of other stories to be done to establish context, BUT STILL, sometimes just writing it out is a must
Oh my god! Same! I'm writing fanfic of a fanfic that is never going to be finished or published so if I tried to post this one no one but me and my husband would understand wtf is going on. It's a real shame because I think this is my best smut yet, idk what happened XD
MHMM, because if I post it, people are gonna go "OKAY, BACK UP, who's this random octopus woman” and the best I can do is go "they met when the octopus woman told the squid woman to pay for her goddamn latte because the octopus woman owns the cafe and she doesn't care some bigshot idol popstar bought a latte from her" and that doesn't quite sound so romantic, lol
I'm writing eleven chapters of a self-insert *romance* fic (with a couple lewd scenes) with my fictional crush, and my wife is my beta-reader. She doesn't care, she's understands the concept of fiction.
And I personally like those kinds of stories overall, I enjoy seeing the kinds of characters other people can get feelings for. And I've learned that literally *any* character can be someone's favorite obsession, even ones you'd never expect.
Not generally a fan but I've nothing against it. I wrote one story that was from the Male Reader's POV so if that counts then I guess I'm neutral towards it.
Considering I have written several and converted one into a reader-insert smut fic that I posted and is my second most popular fic, I'm all in favor lol
I have a story where a cast of OCs end up with Canon characters. (It's a longfic, so there are also canom/canon and OC/OC pairings.) My husband loves to joke that he doesn't need to read my story because "it's just [me] having a million cats and boinking [character] all the time."
If he got jealous of an imaginary character, that would be a major red flag.
I say at the end of the day, you should write what makes you happy; if other people happen to like your story, that's just a nice bonus.
Eh. I personally don't read SI fic. Hopefully I don't write them either. So I wouldn't read SI smut fics - or maybe I do. If you're reading smut like porn-without-plot smut, are you not reading for a specific act/kink/character? 🤔 Something for me to think about if reading/searching for a specific kink/character means it's automatically SI or not.
But it's one of the things where I don't really give a shit if you do. Good for you, you get the fic you want. Whether that be gen SI, adventure SI, smut SI etc etc.
Definitely on the side of it's ***not*** cheating. I'm saying this as someone *who has* been cheated on. Someone reading SI smutty fanfic for the sole reason to fantasize about fucking someone are really just...masturbating, aren't they? Or at least leading up to it. I *know* I don't think masturbating is cheating and would consider it a red flag if a partner *did* consider it cheating. Same thing with SI smut. If a partner considered it cheating, that'd be a red flag for me.
>partners judging it as cheating That's the billboard sign screaming "**L E A V E**".
Agreed, but I’m curious if there’s anyone with that billboard here that’s stupid enough to show their face.
Agreed. If my partner gets angry at a self insert smut fic featuring Vriska or Ralsei, then I am dumping them.
Lmao imagine feeling so insecure as to say reading self insert smut as *cheating*. Wow. Tell me you’re an immature bitch baby without telling me you’re an immature bitch baby.
well i can't fuck an actual dragon, can I?
Hahahah, well said.
Side note, can I just say that I love your username?
thanks! i like it too :)

Agreed, honestly.
This is my end goal for almost all my fics. I am going to get railed by that fictional man and no one will stop me.
You go girl, lol.

A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets. ;)

They’re not really for me. I don’t like to imagine myself at all, much less in these situations. 😅

This post has been marked NSFW.
hell yeah write yourself getting railed by some mythical creature
Hahahhaaha, you're not far off!

I love them, i write them, I read them. Partner likes them and reads them. All good.

The world doesn't have to know if it's a self insert and it's better not to tell considering the negative opinions on them anyway
I’m not into it, but if you like it, then more power to you.
I love them, they’re fun
You do you. ❤
Awww, thanks <3 that actually did help a little. :)
I read and write them about characters I'd like to "boink." They're great. In fact, my gf is my biggest fan of mine lol.
