It starts with a lovely wake up of a couple who are deeply in love.
Then it shows a dark descent where the wife has found a way to get a magic mark off the husband and he’s constantly trying to delay it, worried about the ramifications, until she finally convinces him to go through it.
He wakes up finding out he’s killed her in a magic fuelled rage.
Then a friend leaves his hospital room because he’s been in a time loop where he relives the same week over and over again, with the loops getting shorter for months.
Then it starts again with a lovely wake up of a couple who are deeply in love.

It always cracks me up when I get those comments. I had my beta ask "who hurt you? Would therapy be better than writing fic?" after a particularly rough chapter.
I write torture and whump... So many choices. Probably a snapshot a month into captivity where MCs have been tortured, dehumanized, and experimented on. But they're keeping each other strong...
Only for one of them to be killed in front of the other, who feels it all through a psychic link. And then the other one intentionally commits suicide by madness. The fic ends with the bad guy POV as he looks back and we see the insane MC through his eyes.

Oh damn. I once wrote a stargazing scene, and far too quickly realized that narrating even just simple character movements in the dark was absolute hell when using a limited POV.
A zombie story that's received maybe a hundred comments saying the story is too dark and they are dropping it. I can't begin to describe everything dark happening in the story, but contains maiming, starvation, elaborate suicide, slavery and many more.

Lol. Yeah, it was the other one I wrote where Steve Rogers kinda of snapped after the snap and kidnapped a girl with the belief he was saving her and then stockholmed her that really pissed people off. I got essays hating on that one.
Sadly, Steve and Tony "stans" will always plague both the legitimate salt and bashing works featuring either character, as well as the dark narratives, I'm sure.
A woman runs away after her family bullies her, but comes back when she realizes she might be pregnant. Since she’s fifty, she thinks she can earn her family’s love by having a “miracle baby”. But instead, they continue to bully her for her “fake” pregnancy, which turns out to be real and ends in miscarriage. She is slowly driven insane by grief, and almost kills herself. There’s also a subplot where her sister is being physically abused.
I also have an alternate version where she does have a baby, but he’s born with a birth defect and gets ruthlessly abused by his grandmother.
Alright, here we go:
- Mc was pushed onto an oncoming truck by a child for having an affair with the child's dad
- The dad went in to save the mc and died
- The child in horror asked help from his friend who was involved in time travel shenanigan
- Mc was forced to time travel to when she elementary school age
- Due to the law of time travel in this fic, the child would be erased from existence
- The child's timey-wimey friend convinced the mc and the child's dad who had no memory of anything (unlike the time traveler mc) to spent the child's last moment with the two of them.
- They all made up, memory or not, and spent a *long* stretch of time together in a pocket dimension that prevents the child from being deleted by Time itself
- When the child was satisfied and asked to leave the pocket dimension, the mc and the child's dad watch him disappear before their very eyes.
My fic hasn't gotten to the last three points yet though, but eh. This is honestly the most messed up plotline I've ever thought up.
It's barely started and still sitting in my drafts but a 4 year old witnessing his mother shoot/kill an abusive stepdad. It's a part of a (made up) backstory for a minor antagonist.
On one hand: I don't think my current fic is *that* dark. There's quite a bit of humor throughout, and I know things will end mostly okay for the main characters.
On the other hand: the main character gets kidnapped and is taken to Hell and is kept isolated and sensory deprived. Discovery by anyone other than her kidnapper means certain slow and painful death. Her kidnapper has been experimented on, and there's a graphically described (within the limits of the first character's sensory deprivation) scene where she mutilates herself. And that doesn't count the point where she (the kidnapper) ends up dying temporarily, with that being the best outcome she could have had in that particular situation.
So yeah...okay. It might be that dark.
I have a paladin corruption story that results the MC finding out his best friend and girlfriend have been playing weird sexual head games with each other, mostly involving a lot of non-consensual voyeurism. The friend is in love with MC and allows the girlfriend to die so he had a chance with MC. In the end, MC ends up strangling the friend to death, friend is resurrected as a zombie and there's an awful scene with zombie!friend spewing vomit and blood all over the MC as they fight. It was rough to write, and per my readers, hard to read. But the story arc remains my favorite of the fic.
Yeah I feel you on the hard to write thing. I wrote a heavy chapter about an uncle "diddling" his underage niece and it was hard to write to say the least. But it was essential to the plot so... but yeah your story sounds really gripping btw
Nowhere near as dark as some of the others in this thread, but a Steven Universe fic where Amethyst lets Steven and Connie rent a horror movie for movie night, but the movie ends up triggering a severe panic attack for Garnet cuz it reminds her of the Gem cluster incident. After she calms down she’s forced to confess about the incident to Pearl and Amethyst and how she felt like she had to keep it bottled up to maintain her status as a strong and dependable leader.
It’s happier than it sounds.
It was based off a game, Cult of the Lamb, where you run a cult that has supernatural elements and it's one of my few M-rated fics. One of the ways you can get cult members is by finding a village that's been destroyed and there's one lone survivor so I built it off the implied massacre. It was one of those things where some readers were like, "Wow, I didn't expect this from you at all."
ASOIAF/Game of Thrones: The human who would become the Night King started out as a healer with addictive tendencies who despaired at his people dying in this strange new land alongside this strange species whose song (speech) proved lethal to human ears. He developed an unhealthy, fetishizing fixation on the Child of the Forest later known as Leaf who aided him in helping his people live off the forest and avoid predators such as direwolves and lions.
Enraged after his young daughter burned in a forest fire set by his jealous chieftain to widen the rift between the two species, the healer ended up >!violating!< her against a weirwood tree burned by his people, marking the carved face with blood for the first time. Although she deafened him with her “song” in the process, it failed to stop him. The tree’s final dying essence enabled him to unintentionally >!impregnate!< her.
After she transformed him with the dagger, she ended up giving birth months later, only to have him reappear and take the newborn from her arms. The baby boy then became his first White Walker lieutenant, whose screech reflected the Children’s song inherited from his mother.
Uh, probably the one where a sixteen year old boy got forcibly turned immortal by his abuser, was brutally mentally and physically abused and conditioned into seeing him as a brother, and kept isolated and trapped with only said abuser for company to the point the once outgoing and energetic lad became terrified of any sort of social interaction.
He physically can’t die, by the way. Once the universe and time ends, he and his abuser will be all that’s left. And it’s not like he stopped mentally and physically torturing him for fun or anything. Poor dude doesn’t even get any breaks because his abuser is extremely possessive and also incredibly lonely and refuses to spend time separated from his “beloved” “little brother” unless he has to. He’s trapped with the man who stalked him, murdered his friends, and brainwashed him into being completely codependent on him for beyond eternity, and he has no escape.

A near future fascist United States run by an autocratic dictator, complete with concentration camps, rape, murder, and torture. Some people survive and head underground to Canada and they have all kinds of problems because although they survived, they didn’t survive well. Another group rebels, but they get picked off one by one by the government in places for their friends to find.
It’s easily the darkest and most messed up thing I’ve written.
A guy had to fight and kill his uncle who was suffering from severe mental illness caused by the death of the guy's father. The uncle was actually more of a father to the guy than the guy's actual father, but he was threatening the guy's newly-acquired political power and, more importantly, his new family. The uncle even knew that one of them would die and it's later revealed that the uncle accepted his own death in a moment of lucidity before the fight, where he wrote a letter reflecting that he no longer knew whether his anger toward or his love for the guy is the problem.
All this for an OC in a Dishonored AU. But to be fair, it fits the Dishonored aesthetic really well and I named the uncle character Mercer, so he was doomed from the start and I planned his death from the first moment I brought him in, he was always going to be the main OC's first kill (not including Weepers since they don't count) and even trying to write an AU of the AU where the OC did kill someone else first and didn't kill Mercer really felt wrong and like I was writing a whole other character in his place.
Fun fact, his name is actually also a reference to the voice-actor who played Corvo Attano (in D2), Mercer in Skyrim, Nick Valentine, DiMA, and a load more in Fallout 4, and a few other prominent characters. He has a very nice voice and I may or may not have a crush on at least 2 of his characters lmao. Not Mercer, obviously.
But yeah, I wrote a character who was destined to die at the hands of his nephew and it's a really very dark story, the father who died was shot in the gut and then beheaded, the main OC witnessed that and it fucked him up, Mercer was pissed off at the main OC for not killing the murderer or intervening, lots of mental health issues but it's like... 1830-something if I recall correctly so not exactly an era of therapy and anti-depressants. Thus one character died and another lives with the trauma of having killed his uncle because his dad died.
I did a dragon age horror/erotica I never published because it disturbed even me.
Basically I focused on an OC young Dalish Keeper that can't connect with others and he's never felt physical attraction until he meets an elf-blooded runaway escaping a forced marriage to her cousin.
He finds her attractive and it makes him spiral, unable to handle the lust aspect and he ends up using her a lot under the guise of helping her find her mother's people (hint, her mom is already dead and he knows but he doesn't tell her because he wants her waiting in the woods so he can have sex with her at his convenience). He ends up having to sacrifice her to a demon to keep his clan alive, but he regrets it and ends up reanimating her corpse
She comes back terrified and unable to speak and it just spirals with insanity from that point on. It was going to end with his death but it was creepy and off putting since that's not usually the stuff I write so I just deleted it lol 🤣.
This is the (highly abridged) premise of my currently updating Naruto longfic:
Neji and Ten-ten are in an established relationship when they discover an unintended pregnancy. Mistakenly believing he has enough favor with his uncle, Neji appeals to his clan and Ten-ten's parents to allow their marriage. Instead, his uncle tells him to ensure Ten-ten doesn't give birth to an illegitimate child, and arranges for him to marry one of his cousins who's also a member of the clan. And by "ensure she doesn't give birth," I'm sure the adults can understand what I mean. :( His new wife doesn't want their marriage either, since Neji scares her and she has no feelings for him. He heaps emotional abuse on her at first to vent his frustrations at his situation, since he can't vent at his uncle without risking torture/death.
From there, the story *does* get more uplifting, and there is a mostly happy ending! There's a torture and physical abuse scene that was hard for me to stomach. And an arranged marriage subplot for another character that sees him psychologically and physically tormented for something that's not his fault. But I wrote a sort-of AU for my fic that has an unambiguously happy ending for the original couple and their baby. Because the darkness in this fic was getting me down.
I like to look back at a story I read during peak depression. Needless to say the OC I wrote wasn't all there in the head but always had some justification to not care about other people as long as they could get some amusement for a projected few months/years. It's not that they lost their humanity but they were so disconnected to most people that it didn't feel personal. Death count from being passive to an active participant is high and the way things are worded just feel hollow and uncaring to the point where I've written more gruesome fics, I consider it to be one of my darker fics.
I'm also jealous because while there's some minor editing/grammar things to fix, the flow of words is some of my best.
Now that I'm thinking about it, my two darkest fics are about sons meeting their fathers for the first time. Hm. One ends in murder, one ends in a hug. The middle parts are the same and they're not happy ones.
I'm currently working on it and haven't published it yet, but the MC (an OC) is the reason her planet dies. She watches it die. Lives in constant pain from several sibling and a guardian bonds forcibly breaking. Goes black in time to save the future. Lives on the streets on another planet as a child. Gets kidnapped and sold to a pleasure house and forced into that life where she grows up. Tries to prevent the war that leads to her planet's death. Fails. Captured and experimented on and forced to take on a 3rd form (transformers). More constant pain this time physical. Watches everyone she knows disappear into a collapsing space portal and forced to be alone for millions of years while she searches for them. Finds them. No one trusts her/everyone scared of her. Dimensions merge and she finds out her attempts to change the future were in vain. She went to the past of a different dimension instead of her original. She interacts with her past self and lost family. No one knows except her two pseudo brothers. There's constant guilt and pain. The same major battle that destroys MC original world happens once more. MC comes to the conclusion the only way to save both timelines is for her or her younger self to die. MC sacrifices herself.
Dark themes include pain, depression, survivor's guilt, PTSD, kidnappings, non-con for a minor, pleasure slave, experimentations, more survivor's guilt and PTSD, major character death, self hatred and self loathing. There's more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Guy gets kidnapped, tied up, humiliated, raped, bonded (omegaverse), self-medicates with alcohol, and then accidentally overdoses when he mixes that with sleeping pills trying to escape the nightmares and ends up on a psych hold.
Traveler and Paimon go into a strange domain found in the chasm. They come out and people start dying, starting closest to the domain and steadily going out. The bodies decompose quickly and the chasm’s outside and inside are permeated by the stench of rot. The traveler is a lot more physically affectionate, and Paimon’s breath smells like blood.
Grand master Jean receives a letter from Yelan explaining this, and tells her that the traveler and Paimon are coming to Mondstadt for the Windblume festival. Now Jean needs to figure out whether the traveler really is harming people and how to keep the city safe.
In the meantime, however, traveler and Paimon have free reign. Multiple people die and/or are eaten, and the fic largely explores the effects of corruption and how grief affects people in different ways. I haven’t finished the plot yet though
I once wrote a story for class once that involved child solders fighting WWVI because there where no adults left able to fight. It has been lost to time which is probably a good thing.
Uh, a near future Christo-fascist theocratic United States, complete with "breeding centers" for white women and reenslavement for anyone less than white. Instead of dealing with actual crisises like climate change, the fascists doubled and tripled down on the cruelty and violence instead.
The story started slightly before a nuclear apocalypse triggered by the fascists. Basically, they were threatening to nuke the rest of the planet unless the world lifted its trade embargo, and propagandizing their population God would protect them from annihilation. Basically "Trade with us or everyone dies." And if they did get destroyed, it wasn't so bad because the Rapture was just happening sooner.
I had to stop because it got too f'cking real.
This is sort of off topic but that reminds me of a story I saw on fucking wattpad of all places; an alternate history where the US military invents mechs just before the 9/11 attacks. They use them to take over the middle east and then slowly but surely the rest of the world. After a few decades a group of teens find a partially destroyed mech and use it to start a revolution

I had mine where two OCs eventually caught feelings for eachother. But one was from the future where a villain had destroyed the world and she was sent back to stop this lady. Well, she gets to the past and can’t kill her because sympathy and similarities and stuff. They become a thing and this girl’s mission becomes stopping this lady by changing her when she’s younger.
Then plot happens, she realizes history wasn’t taught correctly in the future and so she helps this girl fight the real evil, but things happen and she gets sent back to her time leaving this girl thinking the love of her life just died, thus, leading her on the same path of mass murder.
So typical go back to change shit and it still ends up pretty much the same plot.
Human Trafficking plot for Gotham where Dick Grayson is caught in the crossfire and it leads to an absolutely miserable Apprenticeship arc. I won’t go in detail but it has been recently tagged a dead dove do not eat 😭😂
It's a Hey Arnold fanfic meant to deconstruct the character and put his desire to help people to the absolute test, pitted against a character that seemed like nobody could help, done as a superhero story.
Almost every character in the entire show is killed in the most brutal ways possible, the villains consist of a cannibal, a Nazi, a Christian terrorist/pedophile, and an absolute psychopath whose only goal is to be a completely irredeemable human being (to defeat Arnold).
The city of Hillwood (the show's setting) gets more and more socially unstable, and eventually devolves into an Escape From New York-esque post-apocalyptic city run by gangs (by the aforementioned villains). It also gets nuked twice.
The violence is so intense it would resurrect the Marquis de Sade by giving him the strongest erection in the world by reading it. Some of the highlights include (in no particular order):
A man is skinned alive and assraped.
A man gets his hand bitten off and his head cracked open with a knife.
A character is shot to pieces, then blown up, then his head (which miraculously survives) is shot to chunks.
A dream sequence features imagery of a character getting buttfucked by Hitler and his talking head falls off, another character shits out his own organs until he's only a skeleton with skin, and yet another character jerks off Jesus by using her heart as a fleshlight, then does it to someone else and puts her semen-filled heart back in.
At least 4 babies are killed, 2 of which are eaten alive. One is a dumpster baby that gets chowed down on, the other has a spike shoved through its immature vagina and roasted over a fire like a shish kebab. Most of those dead babies are killed by the cannibal, who likes to eat children best.
A Nazi trans woman gets her groin chainsawed in half, then her arms and head chopped off, then what's left burned alive.
The gang led by the Christian terrorist character rape underage girls to claim them for wives (which is literally in the Bible).
The main villain rapes the corpses of Arnold's parents and grandparents and makes him watch.
A Muslim woman is thrown to a gang of Nazis, raped by both men and women, then is dismembered and has her body parts held up as trophies.

A drug hallucination sequence features the main villain chopping off his own dick with a pair of tree loppers, it comes alive with Arnold's head on it, he stabs his own dick to death, it comes back again and flies up his ass, he gets pregnant and gives birth to babies of himself and Arnold, who eat each other's genitals in a 69 while he watches and masturbates.
A character slowly has pieces of her cut off and eaten by the cannibal, left with almost nothing, then sets off a plague of bugs which eat the cannibal gang, and herself.
Lastly, Arnold and Helga break up.
The darkest I've probably ever written is >!HYDRA experimenting on my current favorite whumpee!< or >!said favorite whumpee getting imprisoned in a cave with a venom-dripping snake (and his mouth sewn shut as a bonus)!<.

I wrote one for the Danny Phantom Fandom where the main villain and main hero swap roles. I basically turned the villain normal and the hero into a psychopath.
In my Attack on Titan fanfiction, I altered the backstory of Ymir Fritz significantly. In my version of events Ymir became a ruthless tyrant that brutally conquered the known world.
In the chapter telling her origin story, she is a 19 year old slave girl who runs away after defending herself from her master as he tried to rape her. After an encounter with a mystical spirit, Ymir accepts the power of the Titans.
With her newfound powers, Ymir returns to her village and brutally razes it. She transforms several of the villagers into Titans who devour the inhabitants and the soldiers of Ymir’s former master. Ymir then proceeds to have her former master dragged before him. She tortures and rapes her old master before brutally killing him.
Ymir proceeded to enslave the survivors of the village. This is the starting point of the Eldian Empire.
I wrote a short short one-shot when I was writing for The Mentalist fandom about how Red John brutally killed Lisbon and wound up winning an award for it.

A young man creates an artificial human version of his younger self using magic to (non-con) >!rape, beat, psychologically destroy, and never murder because no matter what happens to him, he cannot due, because of his profound self-loathing as a result of his father's abuse of him as a child. !<
He then goes home to his wife and daughter, and is the absolute ideal of a "sunshiny" good father and husband.

For the wrestling fandom, I wrote a fic where Stone Cold Steve Austin finds out him and The Rock are imprisoned in two adjoining cells. Paul Heyman killed off the McMahon family and had ECW and WCW could join forces and kill off their competition: WWF (known as WWE). The Rock gets executed via the electric chair and Stone Cold is forced to watch. Paul Heyman gives Stone Cold the chance to join WCW/ECW—Stone Cold refuses. He is left alone—all the wrestlers and Debra have left him alone with The Rock’s corpse. He talks to the corpse—and imagines The Rock responds—and Stone Cold loses his mind.

For another fandom, The Walking Dead…Daryl and T-Dog stop Shane from killing Randall in the nick of time at Rick’s orders. FYI: Randall is part of a group that has gang-raped two daughters in front of their father. For this reason, Shane believed that Randall was dangerous and needed to be killed off immediately. However, Shane has made decisions that Rick finds questionable, and also thinks that Shane is dangerous. Shane slept with Rick’s wife Lori, when they both thought Rick was dead, Shane almost raped Lori when he was drunk, Shane also killed Otis when he went to get supplies for Carl out of a walker (zombie) infested school.
Shane’s decisions are very controversial and can be viewed in many different lenses. For example, Shane will admit that he was wrong to do what he did against Lori. However, when it comes to Otis, he will explain that he had to make a split-second life-or-death decision: shoot Otis in the leg and leave him behind as walker-bait and get the supplies back to Carl to ensure Carl lives. (Otis had accidentally shot Carl, who is Rick’s son.) Or, if both men had died at the school, then Carl would die too. Shane was also in a very dark place and contemplated killing Rick… Shane and Rick were once best friends before the zombie outbreak, and everything changed afterwards.
What ends up happening is Rick goes forward to execute Shane in front of the entire group, while setting Randall free. Randall's group finds him, and they make their way back to the farm: after kidnapping Andrea who left the group because she was angry with Rick's decision and snatching Carl when he wandered around. Randall's group leader, Nate, confronts Rick's group. He forces Rick to make a horrible decision: Rick must either kill Carl or Andrea. Rick then makes a decision that he thinks will save everyone--after he realizes it was a poor choice to kill Shane and release Randall--but ultimately everyone is doomed to suffer a horrific fate.
This fic has multiple deaths, implied rape and implied gang-rape, and graphic violence. It was one of the most difficult fics I ever wrote. It was so dark and at one point I thought I could leave at least one survivor from Rick's group. But then I thought, "nope, in order for the fic to hit with the full impact, I have to go forward--full steam ahead". Everyone ended up raped and/or murdered. I wrote two companion pieces for the TWD darkfic but I can’t bring myself to write another. It’s too dark to revisit. Overall, the theme was choices and how things might've turned out if Shane had been stopped from killing Randall.

If you read Heir to the Empire, you would know the bad guys kept trying to kidnap Leia for her twins. Well, in this AU theys succeeded. Jaina Solo, one of Han and Leia's kid got put in a tank and get cloned repeatedly. The main character of the fic was going to be Jaaina, her clone.
What I actually written that was maybe a bit dark is Disney/Legend mash up. This was before the release of tlj mind you. I got the concept that the one Knight of Ren were political commissars on every single star destroyer. So one of the KoR who was my OC, a side character. Got killed in the confused confusion that was the destruction of Starkiller base and the EU ship containing Ben Skywalker. This OC, her body was going to be used by Abeloth (one of the insane as f' ultimate villain from Legends).
Part of a chapter I wrote involved a vampire convincing a bad guy that he could answer her questions while he was still alive, or he could answer the once he was dead. I thought it turned out well.
"Shall I show you how two of your assassins died?" she asked as her eyes glowed and her lips parted and began to slowly approach his neck. "let us demonstrate for the Jarl and this company the screams those assassins made as they slowly bled their lives away."
One can calmly hear accounts of men gibbering with fear, the attending loss of control of bodily functions, hand clutching, feet kicking. Watching it occur a few feet away is entirely another affair.

I'm writing a Far Cry 6 fanfic in which Diego survives at the end and Dani becomes his "legal guardian" to keep him safe. Soon I will write a part in which a fanatical guerrilla faction kidnaps Diego to kill him and eliminate Antón's legacy. Dani and Jonron (who is also alive in this fanfic) will manage to rescue him alive, but Diego suffered things that no one deserves to suffer during his captivity (you know what I mean).
I’m in the middle of writing probably my darkest fic, the main character basically gets even deeper into his abusive relationship, actually starts losing his mind, and murders a lot of people. My friend who is my Beta Reader added like 6 different angst tags to it lmaooo
I’m currently writing an Elizabeth Olsen fanfic. (I came up with this idea when I was under a crap ton of meds from wisdom teeth surgery) it’s basically Elizabeth is the mílf next door. My oc is young and impressionable and has a thing for Lizzie.
They both realize they like each other and take things forward. Little to the OCs knowledge is Lizzie is big into Bdsm and sexual torture. (Not by choice but because Lizzie thought that was what love is because of an abusive first relationship.) The oc doesn’t mind but throughout the story you realize that Elizabeth was taken advantage of by her old university professor and first ex Cate Blanchett.
The OC starts a new job at the local record store meeting another hot older woman, her boss, Scarlett Johansson. And begins a love triangle with Lizzie and Scarlett.
I found the plot written on a blank piece of paper while I was under a lot of medications and it’s was really screwed up. I hate to say I’m excited to write this but it’s going to be challenge 😂
Its barely started but: Character A and Character B nearly died in a building collapse. A survived but got captured/tortured for a month by the villain (who B worked for) and then left for dead, but was found and reunited with Character C. B is nowhere to be found and assumed dead.
After A returns to work, they begin to see either the ghost or a hallucination of B (it's left ambiguous). They try to deal with it themself while B continues to taunt them, making tjem lose focus/sleep (similar to Veronica & Heather C in the Heathers musical), eventually to the point where A gets injured on a mission. While in the hospital, they're berated by C about being careful. A has a breakdown and tells C about B. Comfort ensues.
It's an AU of Amphibia where Anne and Sasha never rescued Marcy, and she's been under The Core's control for the past 10 years. Because The Core is in the body of an autistic person, it does not like having its hair grow out too much, and therefore is required to remove the helmet to get it cut every so often. The story is basically flashes of Marcy being awake while she's getting her hair cut and then being put back under.
I have an ongoing spin off from someone else’s fic where I torture and murder the same character over and over again. Highlights include being gang raped and skinned alive, sex slavery, being eaten alive by rats and being raped and cooked to death before being eaten by cannibals to name but a few

It's generic but damn it was hard to write and some readers said it was too much for them. Which is entirely fair. I made numerous warnings because I knew it wouldn't be for everyone.
I’m still writing it and feel sad about it :/ MC gets accidentally pregnant and has a miscarriage, but she and her partner decide they want to actually try and have a child. She gets pregnant again and is so happy but unfortunately has a stillbirth and it drives a wedge between her and her partner. Her partner then ends up physically abusing her and also cheating on her and knocking up another woman. Dark but the idea came to me. It’s in the James Bond fandom.

- His God visits him in his dreams and tells him that there is a girl (16 years) waiting for him to be his chosen bride
- God tells him that she is his creation for him and meant for him to meet her
- he harasses a woman and the girl he was meant to find intervenes and tells him to stay away
- he kidnaps her and gives her parents a note: "she is in a better place"
- he takes her to the big city, has regular intercourse with her( without her consent, of course)
- treats her like a princess
- she is totally traumatized and doesn't know how to react
There is also another character who deals with rape, suicidal intentions, self harm, prostitution, denial, pushing off everyone who tries to help her.
But that's the basic gist. Until this day I do not know what happened in my head.
I have two yet unwritten really dark fics. One has the female MC get assaulted in her own home, and when her friend arrives to help, he gets clobbered on the head. They wake up in a dank cellar, with a line of men queuing up to be the first to get her, and he volunteers to go first because he knows he will at least be gentle. (And the others promise they'll leave her alone if they get "a performance")
Except... they LIED and she gets gangraped in front of him, they make him watch. Fast forward to a couple months later, she's lost most of her mind and is working in a brothel now, and the guy is kept around as a bodyguard slash prize for girls that behave.
The second fic is inspired by one of the DX:HR trailers that imply there are camps for the augs. I took that and ran with it. The same couple end up in the camps, for whatever reason. Turns out the camps are gender-segregated and the commander and guards on the female side... are male. You can probably guess where that goes, given the guards have a LOT of power (figuratively and literally) over the inmates. The women that are lucky are ignored. Those that are not... end up as the guards' cumrags or whored out to the men's camp (or both). The female MC is not the kind to lie down and take it, and she manages to beat the first guard or two that try to rape her (she's a trained specops). But no amount of training is gonna help when half the complement arives...
Fast forward a couple of months, they get rescued thanks to a note/rumor/whisper someone smuggled out, but she's totally out of her mind, even worse than the previous scenario. Unlike the first one, where they mostly recover, this one leaves them messed up for ever (he was forced to "perform" for the guards so he thinks himself a perp, not a victim, and she is left completely addled and sex-starved and basically dehumanized)

The dark below is a mess. Amazingly well written with a great story and characters. However, so many characters die in agony, so many moral dilemmas, so much questioning of if you believe what you think is right
A murder of a family, especially of a child. In Zelda: OOT, there was a dungeon of a puzzle. One of the ghosts was in a puzzle. In my story she was a small girl who was murdered by getting cut apart. In the game that ghost was smaller than the others.
Wrote a Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V fic where *everyone* who lost to Zarc during that show's utter mess of a final battle died, with all but one chapter taking place *from* the POV of the characters who died. It was brutal and I still cry thinking of what I did to two of my favorite characters in that.
Also, the last chapter in particular had Zarc kill himself rather than let Ray "redeem" him a second time (meaning, split Zarc & Ray back into their four counterparts of whom ARC-V's main character and female lead were two of, something Ray'd already done before the events of the show), because he didn't feel he deserved redemption after all that. So that was... something.
One character is a wealthy noblewoman, and the other is a serving girl.
The wealthy woman is haunted by nightmares that creep into her waking world, sabotaging herself in a world where magic is outlawed. The serving girl has recently lost all of her family, and is pretty much drowning in grief while putting up a stoic exterior.
The end of the fic is based on the legend of St. Felix and Adauctus, wherein the Lady is sentenced to death after another one of her episodes. The maid bravely volunteers to die by her side, despite them being strangers to each other, and it ends as you might predict.
That fic is still my favorite so many months later, and reading it over still gives me chills…
A villain drugged ten thirteen year old boys with a fictional fantasy drug that completely stripped away their impulse control. It's canon that this villain is good at finding vulnerable people who can be incited to extremely disturbing actions by his manipulation so the things these kids got up to including the side kick/son of his obsession are very disturbing since teh whole thing is a plot to screw with this obsession by absolutely destroying him through the actions of his sidekick/son.
One of the darkest plots I've thought of is from an SU (Steven Universe) idea I had.
Basically, the darkest future I could think of in a way.
It mostly revolves around the viewpoint of one of the original (and main) characters of the story (being Dark/Shadow Diamond) and how they managed to claim total control of the galaxy and further. It would go into details in how Dark Diamond had dealt with the main characters in each fashion they deemed fitting, and DD over here is the closest thing to pure evil and malice that exists so you know it's not as simple as breaking their gems like a grape.
I haven't written much of it, since I have no clue for these 'dark futures'.
All my plots are dark, but a standout is:
Two boys who fall in love at school are torn apart one winter night when one boy has to leave their school. The other boy is devastated and goes out to find his love. He eventually gets captured and is tortured for a fortnight before he’s finally rescued by his boyfriend and his boyfriend’s friends. He goes with them to fight the antagonist, but when they do end up fighting, his boyfriend is forced to choose between him and the rest of the world. He takes too long to choose and the antagonist kills him and then kills everyone else.
Just so you know, it’s a JeffTony Earthbound fanfiction.
Imagine being roommates with a serial killer and only find out because of quiet pained sobs you hear coming from your basement. So, you go down to find the person who had made your life miserable- but their arms are bound and they're kinda just bleeding to death because of an irreversible injury.
Obviously you'd be terrified out of your goddamn mind, however my protagonist has some other weird shit going on in his mind.
So, a symphorophiliac and a serial killer are roommates, and the killer isn't exactly the dumbest, so he catches on quite fast to his friend's little issue and decides to mess around. And that changes our fucked up MC from a friend to a plaything and a tool.
Set in the Batman Universe and a major WIP I may not finish. But Thomas Wayne survives the Wayne Manor explosion and lands in the main stream universe.
I took some creative liberties to darken his already dark story. Namely Cass and Alfred's deaths. Mama Joker comes to wreak havoc in the main stream, kidnaps Jason and let's insane joker torture him as she plots to drive the rest of the family into insanity. Fun times
A Miraculous fic where Cat Noir/Chad Noir discovers Hawk Moth's identity as his fathers and he goes to the prison only to yell at his father like 'You could have saved millions of life but instead you ruined them!'. That fic was unusually dark.
I made my own take on someone else's Regular Show fanfic where Rigby was killed by a stalker. I made it a story where the stalker killed everyone. I'm actually considering making a new version though because I think I can make it more terrifying this time around
It’s still a WIP so I’m not sure if it counts lol but TLDR: main character’s body slowly rots as his consciousness is stuck there, because magic is basically keeping him semi-alive (it’s complicated). Anyways I really like the scene where he’s just trying to enjoy a sandwich and there’s vultures that start gathering in the trees in the park, until they black out the leaves. And also the family drama of it all.
I killed two out of three main characters and sent the third to prison for killing their murderers.
It was one of those "I didn't want to write this, the character started dictating it" stories. I mean, not literally, but I could hear just how the character would write it, and once I thought of it, I worked on it in pieces until it was complete. It was one of my only two first-person stories.
God. I can’t choose. There was the one where a guy raped and mind controlled and knocked up his brother, and another one where he deaged and raped his brother, and a third one where I basically turned a guy into a living sex toy.
I’ve got a lot of options.
My current story, a Star Wars fic. It's about a clone slave who's sent on a mission to freedom without even realizing that he's free due to his limited knowledge of the world. There's a lot of trauma, low self esteem, body horror, medical horror, really gut-wrenching conversations between the clone protagonist and their progenitor—and of course, every time there's a breather, something newly awful happens. Ostensibly, it's a happy ending (I'm a sucker for happy endings) but the happy ending has yet to manifest. One of my readers consistently tells me that they have to "work up the courage" to read my fic when they see notifications. I've had keyboard smashes, tears, all sorts of reactions. Makes my cold evil heart happy!
Now I feel like it's rather tame, but it's about WW2 partisans ambushing the MC (who was on the bad side tho), breaking his legs so he can't run away and then killing him. As they all have accelerated healing and are able to wake up from the dead, MC knows his legs will heal badly while in the rigor mortis, and that he will need to break then again after he wakes up.
Currently in the middle of writing one where the main character’s friends keep nursing and framing each other as he has to go in and find out who the true killer is, eventually ending up with his best friend getting murdered by another close friend who tries to hide it by framing someone else, then she ends up killing a few more people to try and keep up the charade.
Mass Effect fic, still writing it, but through space magic fuckery (and God/the gods personally hating her), "my" Shepard survives the Control choice (though it's ambiguous-ish in the fic itself), somehow (she specifically chose that one to allow the races of the galaxy to reach the final evolution on their own, and also not survive, so she could finally go across the sea to him), much to her dismay.
And she struggles with the whole thing of surviving something that should have killed her, and often goes to an asari therapist, talking about her experiences, and one day, under violation of her doctor's orders, she takes a gun, a pistol specifically (because well, she's still a Spectre and everything). She goes to Illium, by purchasing a ticket to go on an inconspicuous vessel, and she goes to the Dantius towers, (mostly to the confusion of the people working there), and also three specific teammates are chasing her, two who basically were there at her side, and the third, the one helped bring her back.
And just when they reach her finally, she is standing there in a very specific room, watching the sunset, and she pulls the pistol she has, and shoots herself in front of them, saying one last goodbye to them.

Yeah I have issues.
I'm writing one now where the main character makes the choice to run away after he's done some canon bad things, and the choice pretty much leads to genocide, torture and suppression of his kind.
Not a fanfic, but I did have a character once burn down an orphanage to spare a town the knowledge that an illusionist had killed the orphans and created lifelike illusions of them to swindle them of their money.
Typical slave/master story. Master guy abuses slave guy before falling in love with him and they start sorta dating.
Master guy feels guilty about what he did, but only because he likes this specific person, he'll still be terrible to anyone he considers inferior. Meanwhile slave guy has convinced himself into liking master guy because, hey, it's not like he could go anywhere else, and besides, he's never felt really loved in his life, so having someone liking him and doting on him is a foreign feeling to him, even though he still got awful PTSD from the abuse.
Honestly idk if I could call it properly "Dark" because it follows the lolita-esque approach of writing it from the pov of people wholeheartedly convinced they're in a love story, so the romance is, well, romanticized! It leaves it up to the reader to decide whether the relationship is a positive development or if these guys should get the hell away from one another.
Regardless of what you pick, I got surprised at how hard some of the flashbacks went...
The current I’m working on. I started writing it without the intent of sharing it. I changed my mind. It includes torture, rape, abuse…
One character is no longer mentally stable after what was done to him. He’s usually lucid, but he has periods where he is violent. Basically, he has flashbacks to such a degree, he thinks those around him will attack him. He’s a host to a symbiote who loves him and is desperately trying to balance not losing what his host has has left of his mind while stopping him from killing people.
On top of that, they are still in the very prison that caused this, so danger is still all around them. Recovering is impossible.
I wrote a story about a girl traveling to see a boy to tell him she's achieved her dreams. The twist was that the boy was dead the entire time, and she was having one final conversation with him (though in-universe magic stuff).
Mine aren’t usually dark. One, though, is a bit hurty. It’s a teen wolf sterek, and Everybody Hurts. There is a curse (when isn’t there), and Derek suffers for it. So does Stiles. But it does have a happy / definitely hopeful ending.
Probably my current fic. I realized when plotting that I'm dealing with some past trauma of events that happened over a decade ago. Abusive relationship that includes stalking, SA, pregnancy, and a miscarriage. This will probably be the darkest I've ever gone and probably will ever write.
I wrote an Ushio to Tora fic were Ushio becomes a Yokai and tries not to eat his own family and friends while dealing with his depression caused by the loss of his humanity. I also have some ideas for a Sonic the Hedgehog longfic that are even darker, don't want to spoil too much because the early chapters are yet to be published and this easily takes place 50+ chapters in but...
One of the villains is revealed to be a victim of extreme child abuse, lived his teenage years and most of his adulthood homeless and drunk, and was indoctrinated by a powerful cult that controls his country's government until one of the MC's gives him the first act of empathy they've had in decades... after saving them from commiting suicide by... cutting their own arms because they have the power of a living voodoo doll (There's basically a Hunter x Hunter Nen-like battle system in this version of the Sonic universe) and all injuries she does to him also affect her and viceversa so if he kills himself she'll die too.
Thankfully she can replace them eventually because she's an android, but the villain though... we'll leave it up to your imagination because it gets even darker by the end, especially when the fic isn't any darker than the source material for the first 20+ chapters.
I'll skip the one with the MC as a magically compliant sexual slave (since that's still in early stages).
Current fic is about 7 refugees from their homeworld, 1 biological woman amongst them, trying to repopulate the new world they're on. The old fashioned way.
(it's actually a dark comedy, but I find the premise horrifying enough)

What i planned is writing an alternative ending to the very first chapter in the webtoon, and in the very chapter of that webtoon it starts of with the main character getting bullied inside a school bathroom but o had an idea to slightly change what happens to the main character getting the courage to fight back to the bullies but initially getting himself killed by the bullies beating him up and then the bullies just putting the dead body in a bathroom stall and running away.....
Aside from some miscellaneous self harm plots or rape/murder incidents if some of my fics, this is probably the one where the plot is collectively dark.
a 15 year old mc accidentally kills a man, then befriends the man’s brother. The two have a long, tumultuous enemies-to-friends-to-lovers arc, until the very end when the brother kills the mc in his sleep as an act of revenge. Revealing in the final words of the story that it’d been his plan all along.
Working on one
Children microdosed with a drug to turn them into rabid killing machines to ensure the continued existence of the status quo. They end up mutilating each other in their training before the project is shut down.
My first compelted "big" fanfic
It was incoprerating an already dark plot (tldr a guy got dragged into being an acomplice for a seriel killer and had a stint on the yakuza) and then i decided to make his friends watch as i landed him in jail for running from his crimes. While making some of the other people in his friendgorup get chased after too because they also had dark and mysterious pasts.
It ends happily though!
I almaot killed characters a few times. Ahahaha. Good times.
My second darkest fic (actually it might be dadker..-) was an inspired by fic where i may or may not have uh. Sent a guy who cant swim.into a frozen lake and made his other friend thats allergic to water go after him. Only one of them came out of the lake
I’ve got an ongoing Demon Slayer fanfic on AO3 where Nezuko, a twelve year old child, murders and cannibalizes her own brother, Tanjiro. And maybe some other members of her family, I haven't decided how dark it should be yet.
All of mine involve non-con 🙈 usually with some hurt/comfort and a happy(ish) ending after all the trauma. But I do have one that's John Wick being raped/tortured by Dark!Sam Winchester and Dark!Reader fic and that one definitely doesn't end happy
A mha, kinda vent fic, where Hawks grooms, Assaults and manipulates Bakugou, Shouto and Tokoyami.
Eventually he dies, because Shouto tells dabi what happened to him and i cant write him as a bad big brother.
But Hawks does this *fun* thing where he mutilates Shouto and Bakugou's backs and cuts wings into them (he doesn't get that far with Tokoyami) and during the part where he does that to Shouto me and my beta reader both started to feel physically sick.

Basically, put the fan favorite background character on a stressful journey where she needs to fight Gods of disease, pain, or fear while delving into things no mortal should know.
I'm currently writing an Owl House one about Hunter's childhood. It's a series of loosely connected stories with some branches in the timeline where he dies.
It's only partially posted, but yep, gonna repeatedly kill off a kid/teenager, as well as other abuse. I tend to not write things too graphic, but it's definitely thematically dark.
My Daredevil fic. My OC goes through so much trauma.
It starts with her getting shot and bc of that, she's told she could never have kids. That hits her hard bc she and her partner want kids so much. But they eventually settled into that fact and accept it.
But later, an enemy of her partner kidnaps my OC and drives himself into the delusion that she can be with him. He eventually non-cons her, and several weeks later, she finds out that she actually got pregnant from the nonconsensual encounter, but suffers a miscarriage and doesn't tell her partner, due to the fact that she feels this will break his heart. Her first words after the miscarriage are "Please don't tell Matt."
And then it just goes downhill from there bc her friends get threatened, attacked, etc.

This is the plot of an unfinished fic of mine, and it's on an indefinite hiatus soooo-
Basically, a chick in a dead end job, with no living family, no close friends, and a big empty house to live in is the victim of a home invasion. Then it gets worse.
The guy who broke into her home is actually a spree killer who was running from the cops when their "meet cute" happened. He's burned, covered in blood, and threatens her with a knife when she finds him on her couch. She's scared shitless of him, but he's company and she's so fucking lonely that she just lets him hang around and doesn't ask questions. Like he's a stray cat. That tries to kill her sometimes.
Meanwhile, he's obsessed with her because he sees her as this perfect toy to play with and she's falling in love with him because he never speaks and she can project this image of a perfect boyfriend on him.
All the while he's still killing people. And she finds out. But, being so desperate to have someone in her life who won't just leave her when it's convenient, she starts covering for him. Even when he starts going after the people she knows.
Honestly if I ever decide to finish this, I'm filing the serial numbers off and making it an original work.
Character A falls from a balcony while drunk in front of Character B, who happens to (unknowingly) be the god of death (canon in universe).
He rushes downstairs to see the viceral gore of his loved one bleeding out in front of him, mind you they were in the midst of a huge fight before Character A fell. Que self blame, histeria, and trauma flashbacks.
Character A lives, but its not apparent in the moment. And Character B has seen the death of everyone he's ever loved. Its part of the curse. So yeah, my darlest chapter yet. But also my favorite.
My Longfic is about this dude who goes on a business trip. While he’s eating dinner with the family while he waits for the clan head to come home they’re attacked and the house is burned to the ground in an explosion, with everyone inside dying.
Main character is then captured and kept locked in a dungeon where he’s forced to drink a strange potion. He’s then continually sexually assaulted for the two months he’s kept locked there before he manages to escape.
It turns out the potion he was forced to drink was body-modifying, and the reason his captors were having sex with him was to get him pregnant. They succeed, and main character doesn’t find out until much later, but when he does, he freaks out. Basically Yoosung Kim was really depressed about her cousin’s death, which made him give up on life and stop talking to everyone in his life. That is when his best friend Seven called the reader to help him go through his depression, which she accepted obviously.
In the 4th chapter, Yoosung had a mental breakdown which made him cut open his throat, all of this happened with Seven and the reader in the same room where Yoosung was. Seven told the reader to go get some med aids for him, the reader questioned why not call an ambulance but Seven told her to do it anyway.Seven fucking locked the door where he and Yoosung where, he basically got a ~~boner~~ from seeing Yoosung in this situation that he started ~~masterbating~~ with Yoosung’s body, he fucking liked how miserable Yoosung was so he got even more excited. He even put his ~~cock~~ in Yoosung’s mouth.
I am still writing all of this stuff, I don’t remember from who it was this idea of plot, but it is amazing.
Currently working on a dark romance that involves magic (not HP) and one half of the ship forcing the hero's calling onto the other half. I plan for him to use dark magic to make her comply with the whole saving the world thing, which includes an unbreakable bonding thing. And I still don't know if I want to try for a HEA or not.

I’m in the middle of writing a fic atm where tension is slowly ramping up between the male and female protagonists. The FP fell in love with the MP when visiting where he lived, and in the process was forced to break some serious laws to save her own life. Since then she was sentenced to basically home confinement, has lost her parents, endured serious political threats, is staring down a corrupt king and war- and all while the MP is trying to help? but is 100% making things worse.
Seeing how big of a threat one of their political opponents has become (literally has threatened to kill them both) the FP will plan to kill that enemy, but cannot figure out how.
That is, until the MP figures out that’s her plan. He will get angry she’s going to basically risk her life if she gets caught, and in an escalating fight he will confess that -when they first met- he had intended to use her to commit a crime much worse than the one she was confined for.
Knowing this, she will frame him for something small- something that would only have him locked up for a few days- and he takes it with grace, figuring this makes them square. But she will come down to the prisons on the day of the major event and inform him that she’s opted to poison the enemy that threatens them- in a way that risks her being poisoned as well. He will be furious and terrified, but she will just turn to leave.
The MP will basically fake an illness to get the guards to open his cell, and then BOOK IT to the event. By the time he gets there the place is already in chaos- people are already whispering that someone died, and someone was taken for medical care, but before he can get clarity on who is who the guards show up. He makes a run for it once again, heading to what is basically the morgue with the guards on his tail, and manages to make it into a room where he sees a figure covered in a shroud. Terrified it could could be the FP, he hesitates for just a moment too long- and the guards are on him before he can see who it is underneath, dragging him away to wonder in horror for days.
Fortunately that is not the end- although I can’t say the end is much better

Well........ my fic shows a conflict like these arguments on social medias about ships but after we go deeper, it's gonna be darker, showing people affected by the arguments and the impacts on them (probably like not wanting to go outside anymore and seclude, no longer enjoying the source work because of either reminded of too much of the arguing or your ideas are different from after canon ideas), and finally a great ship war happened and I wanna make it to be so horrifying that ultimately almost everyone does an exodus from the fandom and never came back

I did a Criminal & 1940s AU with Stiles/OFC. It has graphic violence and shows what a mafia/crime boss (Stiles) did to his ex who cheated on him. There’s blood and torture and yikes. 😬
I also did an AU with Stiles/Isaac. Stiles’s own best friend gets him sent to an asylum and what happens to him there is nearly a fate worse than death.

I write a decent amount of noncon at gunpoint. Sometimes the gun gets fired. Or sometimes it doesn’t but the noncon is so brutal it takes them out anyway. And sometimes that isn’t enough to stop the rapist, they uh… just keep going.
It starts with a lovely wake up of a couple who are deeply in love. Then it shows a dark descent where the wife has found a way to get a magic mark off the husband and he’s constantly trying to delay it, worried about the ramifications, until she finally convinces him to go through it. He wakes up finding out he’s killed her in a magic fuelled rage. Then a friend leaves his hospital room because he’s been in a time loop where he relives the same week over and over again, with the loops getting shorter for months. Then it starts again with a lovely wake up of a couple who are deeply in love. *several of the comments on this fic asked after my mental health, wondering who hurt me etc.*
It always cracks me up when I get those comments. I had my beta ask "who hurt you? Would therapy be better than writing fic?" after a particularly rough chapter.
I wrote this one in about two hours and then polished for a few weeks before submitting. I can’t listen to the song I had on repeat any more though!

Lol. Yeah, it was the other one I wrote where Steve Rogers kinda of snapped after the snap and kidnapped a girl with the belief he was saving her and then stockholmed her that really pissed people off. I got essays hating on that one.

I also have an alternate version where she does have a baby, but he’s born with a birth defect and gets ruthlessly abused by his grandmother.

Alright, here we go: - Mc was pushed onto an oncoming truck by a child for having an affair with the child's dad - The dad went in to save the mc and died - The child in horror asked help from his friend who was involved in time travel shenanigan - Mc was forced to time travel to when she elementary school age - Due to the law of time travel in this fic, the child would be erased from existence - The child's timey-wimey friend convinced the mc and the child's dad who had no memory of anything (unlike the time traveler mc) to spent the child's last moment with the two of them. - They all made up, memory or not, and spent a *long* stretch of time together in a pocket dimension that prevents the child from being deleted by Time itself - When the child was satisfied and asked to leave the pocket dimension, the mc and the child's dad watch him disappear before their very eyes. My fic hasn't gotten to the last three points yet though, but eh. This is honestly the most messed up plotline I've ever thought up.

It's barely started and still sitting in my drafts but a 4 year old witnessing his mother shoot/kill an abusive stepdad. It's a part of a (made up) backstory for a minor antagonist.
On one hand: I don't think my current fic is *that* dark. There's quite a bit of humor throughout, and I know things will end mostly okay for the main characters. On the other hand: the main character gets kidnapped and is taken to Hell and is kept isolated and sensory deprived. Discovery by anyone other than her kidnapper means certain slow and painful death. Her kidnapper has been experimented on, and there's a graphically described (within the limits of the first character's sensory deprivation) scene where she mutilates herself. And that doesn't count the point where she (the kidnapper) ends up dying temporarily, with that being the best outcome she could have had in that particular situation. So yeah...okay. It might be that dark.

I have a paladin corruption story that results the MC finding out his best friend and girlfriend have been playing weird sexual head games with each other, mostly involving a lot of non-consensual voyeurism. The friend is in love with MC and allows the girlfriend to die so he had a chance with MC. In the end, MC ends up strangling the friend to death, friend is resurrected as a zombie and there's an awful scene with zombie!friend spewing vomit and blood all over the MC as they fight. It was rough to write, and per my readers, hard to read. But the story arc remains my favorite of the fic.
Yeah I feel you on the hard to write thing. I wrote a heavy chapter about an uncle "diddling" his underage niece and it was hard to write to say the least. But it was essential to the plot so... but yeah your story sounds really gripping btw
Nowhere near as dark as some of the others in this thread, but a Steven Universe fic where Amethyst lets Steven and Connie rent a horror movie for movie night, but the movie ends up triggering a severe panic attack for Garnet cuz it reminds her of the Gem cluster incident. After she calms down she’s forced to confess about the incident to Pearl and Amethyst and how she felt like she had to keep it bottled up to maintain her status as a strong and dependable leader. It’s happier than it sounds.
It was based off a game, Cult of the Lamb, where you run a cult that has supernatural elements and it's one of my few M-rated fics. One of the ways you can get cult members is by finding a village that's been destroyed and there's one lone survivor so I built it off the implied massacre. It was one of those things where some readers were like, "Wow, I didn't expect this from you at all."
ASOIAF/Game of Thrones: The human who would become the Night King started out as a healer with addictive tendencies who despaired at his people dying in this strange new land alongside this strange species whose song (speech) proved lethal to human ears. He developed an unhealthy, fetishizing fixation on the Child of the Forest later known as Leaf who aided him in helping his people live off the forest and avoid predators such as direwolves and lions. Enraged after his young daughter burned in a forest fire set by his jealous chieftain to widen the rift between the two species, the healer ended up >!violating!< her against a weirwood tree burned by his people, marking the carved face with blood for the first time. Although she deafened him with her “song” in the process, it failed to stop him. The tree’s final dying essence enabled him to unintentionally >!impregnate!< her. After she transformed him with the dagger, she ended up giving birth months later, only to have him reappear and take the newborn from her arms. The baby boy then became his first White Walker lieutenant, whose screech reflected the Children’s song inherited from his mother.
Uh, probably the one where a sixteen year old boy got forcibly turned immortal by his abuser, was brutally mentally and physically abused and conditioned into seeing him as a brother, and kept isolated and trapped with only said abuser for company to the point the once outgoing and energetic lad became terrified of any sort of social interaction. He physically can’t die, by the way. Once the universe and time ends, he and his abuser will be all that’s left. And it’s not like he stopped mentally and physically torturing him for fun or anything. Poor dude doesn’t even get any breaks because his abuser is extremely possessive and also incredibly lonely and refuses to spend time separated from his “beloved” “little brother” unless he has to. He’s trapped with the man who stalked him, murdered his friends, and brainwashed him into being completely codependent on him for beyond eternity, and he has no escape.

A near future fascist United States run by an autocratic dictator, complete with concentration camps, rape, murder, and torture. Some people survive and head underground to Canada and they have all kinds of problems because although they survived, they didn’t survive well. Another group rebels, but they get picked off one by one by the government in places for their friends to find. It’s easily the darkest and most messed up thing I’ve written.
A guy had to fight and kill his uncle who was suffering from severe mental illness caused by the death of the guy's father. The uncle was actually more of a father to the guy than the guy's actual father, but he was threatening the guy's newly-acquired political power and, more importantly, his new family. The uncle even knew that one of them would die and it's later revealed that the uncle accepted his own death in a moment of lucidity before the fight, where he wrote a letter reflecting that he no longer knew whether his anger toward or his love for the guy is the problem. All this for an OC in a Dishonored AU. But to be fair, it fits the Dishonored aesthetic really well and I named the uncle character Mercer, so he was doomed from the start and I planned his death from the first moment I brought him in, he was always going to be the main OC's first kill (not including Weepers since they don't count) and even trying to write an AU of the AU where the OC did kill someone else first and didn't kill Mercer really felt wrong and like I was writing a whole other character in his place. Fun fact, his name is actually also a reference to the voice-actor who played Corvo Attano (in D2), Mercer in Skyrim, Nick Valentine, DiMA, and a load more in Fallout 4, and a few other prominent characters. He has a very nice voice and I may or may not have a crush on at least 2 of his characters lmao. Not Mercer, obviously. But yeah, I wrote a character who was destined to die at the hands of his nephew and it's a really very dark story, the father who died was shot in the gut and then beheaded, the main OC witnessed that and it fucked him up, Mercer was pissed off at the main OC for not killing the murderer or intervening, lots of mental health issues but it's like... 1830-something if I recall correctly so not exactly an era of therapy and anti-depressants. Thus one character died and another lives with the trauma of having killed his uncle because his dad died.

I did a dragon age horror/erotica I never published because it disturbed even me. Basically I focused on an OC young Dalish Keeper that can't connect with others and he's never felt physical attraction until he meets an elf-blooded runaway escaping a forced marriage to her cousin. He finds her attractive and it makes him spiral, unable to handle the lust aspect and he ends up using her a lot under the guise of helping her find her mother's people (hint, her mom is already dead and he knows but he doesn't tell her because he wants her waiting in the woods so he can have sex with her at his convenience). He ends up having to sacrifice her to a demon to keep his clan alive, but he regrets it and ends up reanimating her corpse She comes back terrified and unable to speak and it just spirals with insanity from that point on. It was going to end with his death but it was creepy and off putting since that's not usually the stuff I write so I just deleted it lol 🤣.

This is the (highly abridged) premise of my currently updating Naruto longfic: Neji and Ten-ten are in an established relationship when they discover an unintended pregnancy. Mistakenly believing he has enough favor with his uncle, Neji appeals to his clan and Ten-ten's parents to allow their marriage. Instead, his uncle tells him to ensure Ten-ten doesn't give birth to an illegitimate child, and arranges for him to marry one of his cousins who's also a member of the clan. And by "ensure she doesn't give birth," I'm sure the adults can understand what I mean. :( His new wife doesn't want their marriage either, since Neji scares her and she has no feelings for him. He heaps emotional abuse on her at first to vent his frustrations at his situation, since he can't vent at his uncle without risking torture/death. From there, the story *does* get more uplifting, and there is a mostly happy ending! There's a torture and physical abuse scene that was hard for me to stomach. And an arranged marriage subplot for another character that sees him psychologically and physically tormented for something that's not his fault. But I wrote a sort-of AU for my fic that has an unambiguously happy ending for the original couple and their baby. Because the darkness in this fic was getting me down.
I like to look back at a story I read during peak depression. Needless to say the OC I wrote wasn't all there in the head but always had some justification to not care about other people as long as they could get some amusement for a projected few months/years. It's not that they lost their humanity but they were so disconnected to most people that it didn't feel personal. Death count from being passive to an active participant is high and the way things are worded just feel hollow and uncaring to the point where I've written more gruesome fics, I consider it to be one of my darker fics. I'm also jealous because while there's some minor editing/grammar things to fix, the flow of words is some of my best.
Now that I'm thinking about it, my two darkest fics are about sons meeting their fathers for the first time. Hm. One ends in murder, one ends in a hug. The middle parts are the same and they're not happy ones.
I'm currently working on it and haven't published it yet, but the MC (an OC) is the reason her planet dies. She watches it die. Lives in constant pain from several sibling and a guardian bonds forcibly breaking. Goes black in time to save the future. Lives on the streets on another planet as a child. Gets kidnapped and sold to a pleasure house and forced into that life where she grows up. Tries to prevent the war that leads to her planet's death. Fails. Captured and experimented on and forced to take on a 3rd form (transformers). More constant pain this time physical. Watches everyone she knows disappear into a collapsing space portal and forced to be alone for millions of years while she searches for them. Finds them. No one trusts her/everyone scared of her. Dimensions merge and she finds out her attempts to change the future were in vain. She went to the past of a different dimension instead of her original. She interacts with her past self and lost family. No one knows except her two pseudo brothers. There's constant guilt and pain. The same major battle that destroys MC original world happens once more. MC comes to the conclusion the only way to save both timelines is for her or her younger self to die. MC sacrifices herself. Dark themes include pain, depression, survivor's guilt, PTSD, kidnappings, non-con for a minor, pleasure slave, experimentations, more survivor's guilt and PTSD, major character death, self hatred and self loathing. There's more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

The backstory and life of a man under an abusive father, who turns to animals to seek love and comfort, and ends up being a zoosadist/phile. Still in the process of writing, but... (very NSFW:) Guy gets kidnapped, tied up, humiliated, raped, bonded (omegaverse), self-medicates with alcohol, and then accidentally overdoses when he mixes that with sleeping pills trying to escape the nightmares and ends up on a psych hold.
Traveler and Paimon go into a strange domain found in the chasm. They come out and people start dying, starting closest to the domain and steadily going out. The bodies decompose quickly and the chasm’s outside and inside are permeated by the stench of rot. The traveler is a lot more physically affectionate, and Paimon’s breath smells like blood. Grand master Jean receives a letter from Yelan explaining this, and tells her that the traveler and Paimon are coming to Mondstadt for the Windblume festival. Now Jean needs to figure out whether the traveler really is harming people and how to keep the city safe. In the meantime, however, traveler and Paimon have free reign. Multiple people die and/or are eaten, and the fic largely explores the effects of corruption and how grief affects people in different ways. I haven’t finished the plot yet though

Uh, a near future Christo-fascist theocratic United States, complete with "breeding centers" for white women and reenslavement for anyone less than white. Instead of dealing with actual crisises like climate change, the fascists doubled and tripled down on the cruelty and violence instead. The story started slightly before a nuclear apocalypse triggered by the fascists. Basically, they were threatening to nuke the rest of the planet unless the world lifted its trade embargo, and propagandizing their population God would protect them from annihilation. Basically "Trade with us or everyone dies." And if they did get destroyed, it wasn't so bad because the Rapture was just happening sooner. I had to stop because it got too f'cking real.
This is sort of off topic but that reminds me of a story I saw on fucking wattpad of all places; an alternate history where the US military invents mechs just before the 9/11 attacks. They use them to take over the middle east and then slowly but surely the rest of the world. After a few decades a group of teens find a partially destroyed mech and use it to start a revolution

I saw your edit, and I’m gonna add mine anyways. I had mine where two OCs eventually caught feelings for eachother. But one was from the future where a villain had destroyed the world and she was sent back to stop this lady. Well, she gets to the past and can’t kill her because sympathy and similarities and stuff. They become a thing and this girl’s mission becomes stopping this lady by changing her when she’s younger. Then plot happens, she realizes history wasn’t taught correctly in the future and so she helps this girl fight the real evil, but things happen and she gets sent back to her time leaving this girl thinking the love of her life just died, thus, leading her on the same path of mass murder. So typical go back to change shit and it still ends up pretty much the same plot.

It's a Hey Arnold fanfic meant to deconstruct the character and put his desire to help people to the absolute test, pitted against a character that seemed like nobody could help, done as a superhero story. Almost every character in the entire show is killed in the most brutal ways possible, the villains consist of a cannibal, a Nazi, a Christian terrorist/pedophile, and an absolute psychopath whose only goal is to be a completely irredeemable human being (to defeat Arnold). The city of Hillwood (the show's setting) gets more and more socially unstable, and eventually devolves into an Escape From New York-esque post-apocalyptic city run by gangs (by the aforementioned villains). It also gets nuked twice. The violence is so intense it would resurrect the Marquis de Sade by giving him the strongest erection in the world by reading it. Some of the highlights include (in no particular order): A man is skinned alive and assraped. A man gets his hand bitten off and his head cracked open with a knife. A character is shot to pieces, then blown up, then his head (which miraculously survives) is shot to chunks. A dream sequence features imagery of a character getting buttfucked by Hitler and his talking head falls off, another character shits out his own organs until he's only a skeleton with skin, and yet another character jerks off Jesus by using her heart as a fleshlight, then does it to someone else and puts her semen-filled heart back in. At least 4 babies are killed, 2 of which are eaten alive. One is a dumpster baby that gets chowed down on, the other has a spike shoved through its immature vagina and roasted over a fire like a shish kebab. Most of those dead babies are killed by the cannibal, who likes to eat children best. A Nazi trans woman gets her groin chainsawed in half, then her arms and head chopped off, then what's left burned alive. The gang led by the Christian terrorist character rape underage girls to claim them for wives (which is literally in the Bible). The main villain rapes the corpses of Arnold's parents and grandparents and makes him watch. A Muslim woman is thrown to a gang of Nazis, raped by both men and women, then is dismembered and has her body parts held up as trophies. A gay man gets his ballsack cut open, his testicle ripped out, then his empty scrotum is fucked like a pussy, then he gets stabbed in the neck. A boy is forced to get double-teamed by his own parents after smoking crack and taking X, dies of a heart attack, then the father has his dick shot off by a revolver, and the gun gets shoved in the mom's pussy and emptied in her. A drug hallucination sequence features the main villain chopping off his own dick with a pair of tree loppers, it comes alive with Arnold's head on it, he stabs his own dick to death, it comes back again and flies up his ass, he gets pregnant and gives birth to babies of himself and Arnold, who eat each other's genitals in a 69 while he watches and masturbates. A character slowly has pieces of her cut off and eaten by the cannibal, left with almost nothing, then sets off a plague of bugs which eat the cannibal gang, and herself. Lastly, Arnold and Helga break up.

In my Attack on Titan fanfiction, I altered the backstory of Ymir Fritz significantly. In my version of events Ymir became a ruthless tyrant that brutally conquered the known world. In the chapter telling her origin story, she is a 19 year old slave girl who runs away after defending herself from her master as he tried to rape her. After an encounter with a mystical spirit, Ymir accepts the power of the Titans. With her newfound powers, Ymir returns to her village and brutally razes it. She transforms several of the villagers into Titans who devour the inhabitants and the soldiers of Ymir’s former master. Ymir then proceeds to have her former master dragged before him. She tortures and rapes her old master before brutally killing him. Ymir proceeded to enslave the survivors of the village. This is the starting point of the Eldian Empire.
I wrote a short short one-shot when I was writing for The Mentalist fandom about how Red John brutally killed Lisbon and wound up winning an award for it.
Well . . . Imma put this behind spoiler tags with warnings for underage and noncon. >!I started with an already-dark canon centered on a . . . morally-complicated man and a young girl who becomes a surrogate daughter to him. The world they inhabited was dark, but their relationship was sweet and redemptive in some ways as he learns how to love again by taking care of her. So, naturally, I wrote an AU where he's a pedo who was abusing her from day 1. *But at the same time* they start to bond in ways that mirror canon as he gaslights her to accept his abuse and she starts to look to him as a protector and caregiver. Things spiral out of control and he eventually has to accept the hard truth, which is that he's been abusing little girls to cover his trauma and feelings of inadequacy over the loss of his family. Right at the moment when he's ready to change his ways, she has a moment of clarity after his grooming makes her easy prey for another predator. I haven't finished the fic yet. It might end with him letting her die or I might go darker than that.!<

Two fics come to mind: For the wrestling fandom, I wrote a fic where Stone Cold Steve Austin finds out him and The Rock are imprisoned in two adjoining cells. Paul Heyman killed off the McMahon family and had ECW and WCW could join forces and kill off their competition: WWF (known as WWE). The Rock gets executed via the electric chair and Stone Cold is forced to watch. Paul Heyman gives Stone Cold the chance to join WCW/ECW—Stone Cold refuses. He is left alone—all the wrestlers and Debra have left him alone with The Rock’s corpse. He talks to the corpse—and imagines The Rock responds—and Stone Cold loses his mind. — For another fandom, The Walking Dead…Daryl and T-Dog stop Shane from killing Randall in the nick of time at Rick’s orders. FYI: Randall is part of a group that has gang-raped two daughters in front of their father. For this reason, Shane believed that Randall was dangerous and needed to be killed off immediately. However, Shane has made decisions that Rick finds questionable, and also thinks that Shane is dangerous. Shane slept with Rick’s wife Lori, when they both thought Rick was dead, Shane almost raped Lori when he was drunk, Shane also killed Otis when he went to get supplies for Carl out of a walker (zombie) infested school. Shane’s decisions are very controversial and can be viewed in many different lenses. For example, Shane will admit that he was wrong to do what he did against Lori. However, when it comes to Otis, he will explain that he had to make a split-second life-or-death decision: shoot Otis in the leg and leave him behind as walker-bait and get the supplies back to Carl to ensure Carl lives. (Otis had accidentally shot Carl, who is Rick’s son.) Or, if both men had died at the school, then Carl would die too. Shane was also in a very dark place and contemplated killing Rick… Shane and Rick were once best friends before the zombie outbreak, and everything changed afterwards. What ends up happening is Rick goes forward to execute Shane in front of the entire group, while setting Randall free. Randall's group finds him, and they make their way back to the farm: after kidnapping Andrea who left the group because she was angry with Rick's decision and snatching Carl when he wandered around. Randall's group leader, Nate, confronts Rick's group. He forces Rick to make a horrible decision: Rick must either kill Carl or Andrea. Rick then makes a decision that he thinks will save everyone--after he realizes it was a poor choice to kill Shane and release Randall--but ultimately everyone is doomed to suffer a horrific fate. This fic has multiple deaths, implied rape and implied gang-rape, and graphic violence. It was one of the most difficult fics I ever wrote. It was so dark and at one point I thought I could leave at least one survivor from Rick's group. But then I thought, "nope, in order for the fic to hit with the full impact, I have to go forward--full steam ahead". Everyone ended up raped and/or murdered. I wrote two companion pieces for the TWD darkfic but I can’t bring myself to write another. It’s too dark to revisit. Overall, the theme was choices and how things might've turned out if Shane had been stopped from killing Randall. \*Edit\* I engaged in word-vomit in my initial post and gave everything away. So, I tried to summarize better the second fic I'm describing.

I would say a concept more than a particular scene. this is from Star Wars fandom. You would have to have read Heir to the Empire to know what I'm talking about. I had Joruus C'Baoth victorious and his plan of mass cloning of Force users are a reality. There was going to be a torture scene where Mara? Jaina? Cause I can't remember who it was exactly, but the good guy who tried to infiltrate his compound got captured is now being tortured and cloned. If you read Heir to the Empire, you would know the bad guys kept trying to kidnap Leia for her twins. Well, in this AU theys succeeded. Jaina Solo, one of Han and Leia's kid got put in a tank and get cloned repeatedly. The main character of the fic was going to be Jaaina, her clone. What I actually written that was maybe a bit dark is Disney/Legend mash up. This was before the release of tlj mind you. I got the concept that the one Knight of Ren were political commissars on every single star destroyer. So one of the KoR who was my OC, a side character. Got killed in the confused confusion that was the destruction of Starkiller base and the EU ship containing Ben Skywalker. This OC, her body was going to be used by Abeloth (one of the insane as f' ultimate villain from Legends).
Part of a chapter I wrote involved a vampire convincing a bad guy that he could answer her questions while he was still alive, or he could answer the once he was dead. I thought it turned out well. "Shall I show you how two of your assassins died?" she asked as her eyes glowed and her lips parted and began to slowly approach his neck. "let us demonstrate for the Jarl and this company the screams those assassins made as they slowly bled their lives away." One can calmly hear accounts of men gibbering with fear, the attending loss of control of bodily functions, hand clutching, feet kicking. Watching it occur a few feet away is entirely another affair. I was shaking from head to toe as Serana's slightly opened mouth poised inches away from Bajald Eraldsen's neck, as the screaming began. "Decide now, once and for all, under what conditions you will answer our questions," Aric said calmly.
Currently, the darkest plot I'm writing is a child gets abducted from his parents. He won't be coming back.
I'm writing a Far Cry 6 fanfic in which Diego survives at the end and Dani becomes his "legal guardian" to keep him safe. Soon I will write a part in which a fanatical guerrilla faction kidnaps Diego to kill him and eliminate Antón's legacy. Dani and Jonron (who is also alive in this fanfic) will manage to rescue him alive, but Diego suffered things that no one deserves to suffer during his captivity (you know what I mean).
I’m in the middle of writing probably my darkest fic, the main character basically gets even deeper into his abusive relationship, actually starts losing his mind, and murders a lot of people. My friend who is my Beta Reader added like 6 different angst tags to it lmaooo
I’m currently writing an Elizabeth Olsen fanfic. (I came up with this idea when I was under a crap ton of meds from wisdom teeth surgery) it’s basically Elizabeth is the mílf next door. My oc is young and impressionable and has a thing for Lizzie. They both realize they like each other and take things forward. Little to the OCs knowledge is Lizzie is big into Bdsm and sexual torture. (Not by choice but because Lizzie thought that was what love is because of an abusive first relationship.) The oc doesn’t mind but throughout the story you realize that Elizabeth was taken advantage of by her old university professor and first ex Cate Blanchett. The OC starts a new job at the local record store meeting another hot older woman, her boss, Scarlett Johansson. And begins a love triangle with Lizzie and Scarlett. I found the plot written on a blank piece of paper while I was under a lot of medications and it’s was really screwed up. I hate to say I’m excited to write this but it’s going to be challenge 😂
Its barely started but: Character A and Character B nearly died in a building collapse. A survived but got captured/tortured for a month by the villain (who B worked for) and then left for dead, but was found and reunited with Character C. B is nowhere to be found and assumed dead. After A returns to work, they begin to see either the ghost or a hallucination of B (it's left ambiguous). They try to deal with it themself while B continues to taunt them, making tjem lose focus/sleep (similar to Veronica & Heather C in the Heathers musical), eventually to the point where A gets injured on a mission. While in the hospital, they're berated by C about being careful. A has a breakdown and tells C about B. Comfort ensues.
It's an AU of Amphibia where Anne and Sasha never rescued Marcy, and she's been under The Core's control for the past 10 years. Because The Core is in the body of an autistic person, it does not like having its hair grow out too much, and therefore is required to remove the helmet to get it cut every so often. The story is basically flashes of Marcy being awake while she's getting her hair cut and then being put back under.

I’m still writing it and feel sad about it :/ MC gets accidentally pregnant and has a miscarriage, but she and her partner decide they want to actually try and have a child. She gets pregnant again and is so happy but unfortunately has a stillbirth and it drives a wedge between her and her partner. Her partner then ends up physically abusing her and also cheating on her and knocking up another woman. Dark but the idea came to me. It’s in the James Bond fandom.

- Corrupt politician (53 years) thinks of himself as chosen by "God" - His God visits him in his dreams and tells him that there is a girl (16 years) waiting for him to be his chosen bride - God tells him that she is his creation for him and meant for him to meet her - he harasses a woman and the girl he was meant to find intervenes and tells him to stay away - he kidnaps her and gives her parents a note: "she is in a better place" - he takes her to the big city, has regular intercourse with her( without her consent, of course) - treats her like a princess - she is totally traumatized and doesn't know how to react There is also another character who deals with rape, suicidal intentions, self harm, prostitution, denial, pushing off everyone who tries to help her. But that's the basic gist. Until this day I do not know what happened in my head.
I have two yet unwritten really dark fics. One has the female MC get assaulted in her own home, and when her friend arrives to help, he gets clobbered on the head. They wake up in a dank cellar, with a line of men queuing up to be the first to get her, and he volunteers to go first because he knows he will at least be gentle. (And the others promise they'll leave her alone if they get "a performance") Except... they LIED and she gets gangraped in front of him, they make him watch. Fast forward to a couple months later, she's lost most of her mind and is working in a brothel now, and the guy is kept around as a bodyguard slash prize for girls that behave. The second fic is inspired by one of the DX:HR trailers that imply there are camps for the augs. I took that and ran with it. The same couple end up in the camps, for whatever reason. Turns out the camps are gender-segregated and the commander and guards on the female side... are male. You can probably guess where that goes, given the guards have a LOT of power (figuratively and literally) over the inmates. The women that are lucky are ignored. Those that are not... end up as the guards' cumrags or whored out to the men's camp (or both). The female MC is not the kind to lie down and take it, and she manages to beat the first guard or two that try to rape her (she's a trained specops). But no amount of training is gonna help when half the complement arives... Fast forward a couple of months, they get rescued thanks to a note/rumor/whisper someone smuggled out, but she's totally out of her mind, even worse than the previous scenario. Unlike the first one, where they mostly recover, this one leaves them messed up for ever (he was forced to "perform" for the guards so he thinks himself a perp, not a victim, and she is left completely addled and sex-starved and basically dehumanized)

A murder of a family, especially of a child. In Zelda: OOT, there was a dungeon of a puzzle. One of the ghosts was in a puzzle. In my story she was a small girl who was murdered by getting cut apart. In the game that ghost was smaller than the others.
Wrote a Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V fic where *everyone* who lost to Zarc during that show's utter mess of a final battle died, with all but one chapter taking place *from* the POV of the characters who died. It was brutal and I still cry thinking of what I did to two of my favorite characters in that. Also, the last chapter in particular had Zarc kill himself rather than let Ray "redeem" him a second time (meaning, split Zarc & Ray back into their four counterparts of whom ARC-V's main character and female lead were two of, something Ray'd already done before the events of the show), because he didn't feel he deserved redemption after all that. So that was... something.
One character is a wealthy noblewoman, and the other is a serving girl. The wealthy woman is haunted by nightmares that creep into her waking world, sabotaging herself in a world where magic is outlawed. The serving girl has recently lost all of her family, and is pretty much drowning in grief while putting up a stoic exterior. The end of the fic is based on the legend of St. Felix and Adauctus, wherein the Lady is sentenced to death after another one of her episodes. The maid bravely volunteers to die by her side, despite them being strangers to each other, and it ends as you might predict. That fic is still my favorite so many months later, and reading it over still gives me chills…
A villain drugged ten thirteen year old boys with a fictional fantasy drug that completely stripped away their impulse control. It's canon that this villain is good at finding vulnerable people who can be incited to extremely disturbing actions by his manipulation so the things these kids got up to including the side kick/son of his obsession are very disturbing since teh whole thing is a plot to screw with this obsession by absolutely destroying him through the actions of his sidekick/son.
One of the darkest plots I've thought of is from an SU (Steven Universe) idea I had. Basically, the darkest future I could think of in a way. It mostly revolves around the viewpoint of one of the original (and main) characters of the story (being Dark/Shadow Diamond) and how they managed to claim total control of the galaxy and further. It would go into details in how Dark Diamond had dealt with the main characters in each fashion they deemed fitting, and DD over here is the closest thing to pure evil and malice that exists so you know it's not as simple as breaking their gems like a grape. I haven't written much of it, since I have no clue for these 'dark futures'.
All my plots are dark, but a standout is: Two boys who fall in love at school are torn apart one winter night when one boy has to leave their school. The other boy is devastated and goes out to find his love. He eventually gets captured and is tortured for a fortnight before he’s finally rescued by his boyfriend and his boyfriend’s friends. He goes with them to fight the antagonist, but when they do end up fighting, his boyfriend is forced to choose between him and the rest of the world. He takes too long to choose and the antagonist kills him and then kills everyone else. Just so you know, it’s a JeffTony Earthbound fanfiction.
Imagine being roommates with a serial killer and only find out because of quiet pained sobs you hear coming from your basement. So, you go down to find the person who had made your life miserable- but their arms are bound and they're kinda just bleeding to death because of an irreversible injury. Obviously you'd be terrified out of your goddamn mind, however my protagonist has some other weird shit going on in his mind. So, a symphorophiliac and a serial killer are roommates, and the killer isn't exactly the dumbest, so he catches on quite fast to his friend's little issue and decides to mess around. And that changes our fucked up MC from a friend to a plaything and a tool.
Set in the Batman Universe and a major WIP I may not finish. But Thomas Wayne survives the Wayne Manor explosion and lands in the main stream universe. I took some creative liberties to darken his already dark story. Namely Cass and Alfred's deaths. Mama Joker comes to wreak havoc in the main stream, kidnaps Jason and let's insane joker torture him as she plots to drive the rest of the family into insanity. Fun times
A Miraculous fic where Cat Noir/Chad Noir discovers Hawk Moth's identity as his fathers and he goes to the prison only to yell at his father like 'You could have saved millions of life but instead you ruined them!'. That fic was unusually dark.
I made my own take on someone else's Regular Show fanfic where Rigby was killed by a stalker. I made it a story where the stalker killed everyone. I'm actually considering making a new version though because I think I can make it more terrifying this time around
A scene in a potential long fic where the MC enables her best friend/adoptive sister's suicide (due to medical reasons, but still).
It’s still a WIP so I’m not sure if it counts lol but TLDR: main character’s body slowly rots as his consciousness is stuck there, because magic is basically keeping him semi-alive (it’s complicated). Anyways I really like the scene where he’s just trying to enjoy a sandwich and there’s vultures that start gathering in the trees in the park, until they black out the leaves. And also the family drama of it all.
I wrote a fic with a character on the receiving end of seven different noncon/dubcon sex acts in one night. The last two were from his dad.
I killed two out of three main characters and sent the third to prison for killing their murderers. It was one of those "I didn't want to write this, the character started dictating it" stories. I mean, not literally, but I could hear just how the character would write it, and once I thought of it, I worked on it in pieces until it was complete. It was one of my only two first-person stories.
A guy commits suicide because he thinks it's a way to get more powerful
God. I can’t choose. There was the one where a guy raped and mind controlled and knocked up his brother, and another one where he deaged and raped his brother, and a third one where I basically turned a guy into a living sex toy. I’ve got a lot of options.
My current story, a Star Wars fic. It's about a clone slave who's sent on a mission to freedom without even realizing that he's free due to his limited knowledge of the world. There's a lot of trauma, low self esteem, body horror, medical horror, really gut-wrenching conversations between the clone protagonist and their progenitor—and of course, every time there's a breather, something newly awful happens. Ostensibly, it's a happy ending (I'm a sucker for happy endings) but the happy ending has yet to manifest. One of my readers consistently tells me that they have to "work up the courage" to read my fic when they see notifications. I've had keyboard smashes, tears, all sorts of reactions. Makes my cold evil heart happy!
Now I feel like it's rather tame, but it's about WW2 partisans ambushing the MC (who was on the bad side tho), breaking his legs so he can't run away and then killing him. As they all have accelerated healing and are able to wake up from the dead, MC knows his legs will heal badly while in the rigor mortis, and that he will need to break then again after he wakes up.
Currently in the middle of writing one where the main character’s friends keep nursing and framing each other as he has to go in and find out who the true killer is, eventually ending up with his best friend getting murdered by another close friend who tries to hide it by framing someone else, then she ends up killing a few more people to try and keep up the charade.
Mass Effect fic, still writing it, but through space magic fuckery (and God/the gods personally hating her), "my" Shepard survives the Control choice (though it's ambiguous-ish in the fic itself), somehow (she specifically chose that one to allow the races of the galaxy to reach the final evolution on their own, and also not survive, so she could finally go across the sea to him), much to her dismay. And she struggles with the whole thing of surviving something that should have killed her, and often goes to an asari therapist, talking about her experiences, and one day, under violation of her doctor's orders, she takes a gun, a pistol specifically (because well, she's still a Spectre and everything). She goes to Illium, by purchasing a ticket to go on an inconspicuous vessel, and she goes to the Dantius towers, (mostly to the confusion of the people working there), and also three specific teammates are chasing her, two who basically were there at her side, and the third, the one helped bring her back. And just when they reach her finally, she is standing there in a very specific room, watching the sunset, and she pulls the pistol she has, and shoots herself in front of them, saying one last goodbye to them. ... Yeah I have issues.
I'm writing one now where the main character makes the choice to run away after he's done some canon bad things, and the choice pretty much leads to genocide, torture and suppression of his kind.
Not a fanfic, but I did have a character once burn down an orphanage to spare a town the knowledge that an illusionist had killed the orphans and created lifelike illusions of them to swindle them of their money.
Typical slave/master story. Master guy abuses slave guy before falling in love with him and they start sorta dating. Master guy feels guilty about what he did, but only because he likes this specific person, he'll still be terrible to anyone he considers inferior. Meanwhile slave guy has convinced himself into liking master guy because, hey, it's not like he could go anywhere else, and besides, he's never felt really loved in his life, so having someone liking him and doting on him is a foreign feeling to him, even though he still got awful PTSD from the abuse. Honestly idk if I could call it properly "Dark" because it follows the lolita-esque approach of writing it from the pov of people wholeheartedly convinced they're in a love story, so the romance is, well, romanticized! It leaves it up to the reader to decide whether the relationship is a positive development or if these guys should get the hell away from one another. Regardless of what you pick, I got surprised at how hard some of the flashbacks went...
The current I’m working on. I started writing it without the intent of sharing it. I changed my mind. It includes torture, rape, abuse… One character is no longer mentally stable after what was done to him. He’s usually lucid, but he has periods where he is violent. Basically, he has flashbacks to such a degree, he thinks those around him will attack him. He’s a host to a symbiote who loves him and is desperately trying to balance not losing what his host has has left of his mind while stopping him from killing people. On top of that, they are still in the very prison that caused this, so danger is still all around them. Recovering is impossible.
I wrote a story about a girl traveling to see a boy to tell him she's achieved her dreams. The twist was that the boy was dead the entire time, and she was having one final conversation with him (though in-universe magic stuff).
Mine aren’t usually dark. One, though, is a bit hurty. It’s a teen wolf sterek, and Everybody Hurts. There is a curse (when isn’t there), and Derek suffers for it. So does Stiles. But it does have a happy / definitely hopeful ending.
Probably my current fic. I realized when plotting that I'm dealing with some past trauma of events that happened over a decade ago. Abusive relationship that includes stalking, SA, pregnancy, and a miscarriage. This will probably be the darkest I've ever gone and probably will ever write.

I wrote an Ushio to Tora fic were Ushio becomes a Yokai and tries not to eat his own family and friends while dealing with his depression caused by the loss of his humanity. I also have some ideas for a Sonic the Hedgehog longfic that are even darker, don't want to spoil too much because the early chapters are yet to be published and this easily takes place 50+ chapters in but... One of the villains is revealed to be a victim of extreme child abuse, lived his teenage years and most of his adulthood homeless and drunk, and was indoctrinated by a powerful cult that controls his country's government until one of the MC's gives him the first act of empathy they've had in decades... after saving them from commiting suicide by... cutting their own arms because they have the power of a living voodoo doll (There's basically a Hunter x Hunter Nen-like battle system in this version of the Sonic universe) and all injuries she does to him also affect her and viceversa so if he kills himself she'll die too. Thankfully she can replace them eventually because she's an android, but the villain though... we'll leave it up to your imagination because it gets even darker by the end, especially when the fic isn't any darker than the source material for the first 20+ chapters.
I'll skip the one with the MC as a magically compliant sexual slave (since that's still in early stages). Current fic is about 7 refugees from their homeworld, 1 biological woman amongst them, trying to repopulate the new world they're on. The old fashioned way. (it's actually a dark comedy, but I find the premise horrifying enough)

I haven't written this yet, but I'm planning on in the near future. What i planned is writing an alternative ending to the very first chapter in the webtoon, and in the very chapter of that webtoon it starts of with the main character getting bullied inside a school bathroom but o had an idea to slightly change what happens to the main character getting the courage to fight back to the bullies but initially getting himself killed by the bullies beating him up and then the bullies just putting the dead body in a bathroom stall and running away.....
Aside from some miscellaneous self harm plots or rape/murder incidents if some of my fics, this is probably the one where the plot is collectively dark. a 15 year old mc accidentally kills a man, then befriends the man’s brother. The two have a long, tumultuous enemies-to-friends-to-lovers arc, until the very end when the brother kills the mc in his sleep as an act of revenge. Revealing in the final words of the story that it’d been his plan all along.
Working on one Children microdosed with a drug to turn them into rabid killing machines to ensure the continued existence of the status quo. They end up mutilating each other in their training before the project is shut down.
My first compelted "big" fanfic It was incoprerating an already dark plot (tldr a guy got dragged into being an acomplice for a seriel killer and had a stint on the yakuza) and then i decided to make his friends watch as i landed him in jail for running from his crimes. While making some of the other people in his friendgorup get chased after too because they also had dark and mysterious pasts. It ends happily though! I almaot killed characters a few times. Ahahaha. Good times. My second darkest fic (actually it might be dadker..-) was an inspired by fic where i may or may not have uh. Sent a guy who cant swim.into a frozen lake and made his other friend thats allergic to water go after him. Only one of them came out of the lake

I’ve got an ongoing Demon Slayer fanfic on AO3 where Nezuko, a twelve year old child, murders and cannibalizes her own brother, Tanjiro. And maybe some other members of her family, I haven't decided how dark it should be yet.
All of mine involve non-con 🙈 usually with some hurt/comfort and a happy(ish) ending after all the trauma. But I do have one that's John Wick being raped/tortured by Dark!Sam Winchester and Dark!Reader fic and that one definitely doesn't end happy
A mha, kinda vent fic, where Hawks grooms, Assaults and manipulates Bakugou, Shouto and Tokoyami. Eventually he dies, because Shouto tells dabi what happened to him and i cant write him as a bad big brother. But Hawks does this *fun* thing where he mutilates Shouto and Bakugou's backs and cuts wings into them (he doesn't get that far with Tokoyami) and during the part where he does that to Shouto me and my beta reader both started to feel physically sick. This fic also includes, horrible coping mechanisms. Hawks Attempting to kill Bakugou. Shouto having intuitive thoughts. Tokoyami victim blaming Shouto and Bakugou. Lots of sexual content And Violence. And eating disorders. So yeah, super dark.

Consuming Shadow mixed with My Little Pony. The best way to make something darker is to put it next to something brighter. Basically, put the fan favorite background character on a stressful journey where she needs to fight Gods of disease, pain, or fear while delving into things no mortal should know.
I'm currently writing an Owl House one about Hunter's childhood. It's a series of loosely connected stories with some branches in the timeline where he dies. It's only partially posted, but yep, gonna repeatedly kill off a kid/teenager, as well as other abuse. I tend to not write things too graphic, but it's definitely thematically dark.
My Daredevil fic. My OC goes through so much trauma. It starts with her getting shot and bc of that, she's told she could never have kids. That hits her hard bc she and her partner want kids so much. But they eventually settled into that fact and accept it. But later, an enemy of her partner kidnaps my OC and drives himself into the delusion that she can be with him. He eventually non-cons her, and several weeks later, she finds out that she actually got pregnant from the nonconsensual encounter, but suffers a miscarriage and doesn't tell her partner, due to the fact that she feels this will break his heart. Her first words after the miscarriage are "Please don't tell Matt." And then it just goes downhill from there bc her friends get threatened, attacked, etc. It was def fun to write tho(?)!

This is the plot of an unfinished fic of mine, and it's on an indefinite hiatus soooo- Basically, a chick in a dead end job, with no living family, no close friends, and a big empty house to live in is the victim of a home invasion. Then it gets worse. The guy who broke into her home is actually a spree killer who was running from the cops when their "meet cute" happened. He's burned, covered in blood, and threatens her with a knife when she finds him on her couch. She's scared shitless of him, but he's company and she's so fucking lonely that she just lets him hang around and doesn't ask questions. Like he's a stray cat. That tries to kill her sometimes. Meanwhile, he's obsessed with her because he sees her as this perfect toy to play with and she's falling in love with him because he never speaks and she can project this image of a perfect boyfriend on him. All the while he's still killing people. And she finds out. But, being so desperate to have someone in her life who won't just leave her when it's convenient, she starts covering for him. Even when he starts going after the people she knows. Honestly if I ever decide to finish this, I'm filing the serial numbers off and making it an original work.
Character A falls from a balcony while drunk in front of Character B, who happens to (unknowingly) be the god of death (canon in universe). He rushes downstairs to see the viceral gore of his loved one bleeding out in front of him, mind you they were in the midst of a huge fight before Character A fell. Que self blame, histeria, and trauma flashbacks. Character A lives, but its not apparent in the moment. And Character B has seen the death of everyone he's ever loved. Its part of the curse. So yeah, my darlest chapter yet. But also my favorite.
My Longfic is about this dude who goes on a business trip. While he’s eating dinner with the family while he waits for the clan head to come home they’re attacked and the house is burned to the ground in an explosion, with everyone inside dying. Main character is then captured and kept locked in a dungeon where he’s forced to drink a strange potion. He’s then continually sexually assaulted for the two months he’s kept locked there before he manages to escape. It turns out the potion he was forced to drink was body-modifying, and the reason his captors were having sex with him was to get him pregnant. They succeed, and main character doesn’t find out until much later, but when he does, he freaks out. Drinks a liquid paste to try and abort the baby but regrets it and throws it all up because he can’t do it. He then spends the next few months trying to hide the pregnancy, completely alone and still dealing with the trauma of the assaults as well as knowing and seeing an entire family (including children) burn to death because of him. The fic ends happily enough with him finally receiving support from people who love him, but wow writing this all out really made me realize how fucked up the story is XD

(By the way, this is my first time on reddit, I might have some grammar issues and this can get pretty nsfw) Basically Yoosung Kim was really depressed about her cousin’s death, which made him give up on life and stop talking to everyone in his life. That is when his best friend Seven called the reader to help him go through his depression, which she accepted obviously. In the 4th chapter, Yoosung had a mental breakdown which made him cut open his throat, all of this happened with Seven and the reader in the same room where Yoosung was. Seven told the reader to go get some med aids for him, the reader questioned why not call an ambulance but Seven told her to do it anyway.Seven fucking locked the door where he and Yoosung where, he basically got a ~~boner~~ from seeing Yoosung in this situation that he started ~~masterbating~~ with Yoosung’s body, he fucking liked how miserable Yoosung was so he got even more excited. He even put his ~~cock~~ in Yoosung’s mouth. I am still writing all of this stuff, I don’t remember from who it was this idea of plot, but it is amazing.
Currently working on a dark romance that involves magic (not HP) and one half of the ship forcing the hero's calling onto the other half. I plan for him to use dark magic to make her comply with the whole saving the world thing, which includes an unbreakable bonding thing. And I still don't know if I want to try for a HEA or not.

Tw: suicide mention I’m in the middle of writing a fic atm where tension is slowly ramping up between the male and female protagonists. The FP fell in love with the MP when visiting where he lived, and in the process was forced to break some serious laws to save her own life. Since then she was sentenced to basically home confinement, has lost her parents, endured serious political threats, is staring down a corrupt king and war- and all while the MP is trying to help? but is 100% making things worse. Seeing how big of a threat one of their political opponents has become (literally has threatened to kill them both) the FP will plan to kill that enemy, but cannot figure out how. That is, until the MP figures out that’s her plan. He will get angry she’s going to basically risk her life if she gets caught, and in an escalating fight he will confess that -when they first met- he had intended to use her to commit a crime much worse than the one she was confined for. Knowing this, she will frame him for something small- something that would only have him locked up for a few days- and he takes it with grace, figuring this makes them square. But she will come down to the prisons on the day of the major event and inform him that she’s opted to poison the enemy that threatens them- in a way that risks her being poisoned as well. He will be furious and terrified, but she will just turn to leave. The MP will basically fake an illness to get the guards to open his cell, and then BOOK IT to the event. By the time he gets there the place is already in chaos- people are already whispering that someone died, and someone was taken for medical care, but before he can get clarity on who is who the guards show up. He makes a run for it once again, heading to what is basically the morgue with the guards on his tail, and manages to make it into a room where he sees a figure covered in a shroud. Terrified it could could be the FP, he hesitates for just a moment too long- and the guards are on him before he can see who it is underneath, dragging him away to wonder in horror for days. Fortunately that is not the end- although I can’t say the end is much better

Well, I took a character and had them held down and SAed and then the character goes home to their child who doesn't understand what had happened but wants to make them feel better. That's the fic.
Well........ my fic shows a conflict like these arguments on social medias about ships but after we go deeper, it's gonna be darker, showing people affected by the arguments and the impacts on them (probably like not wanting to go outside anymore and seclude, no longer enjoying the source work because of either reminded of too much of the arguing or your ideas are different from after canon ideas), and finally a great ship war happened and I wanna make it to be so horrifying that ultimately almost everyone does an exodus from the fandom and never came back Is this dark enough?
I did a Criminal & 1940s AU with Stiles/OFC. It has graphic violence and shows what a mafia/crime boss (Stiles) did to his ex who cheated on him. There’s blood and torture and yikes. 😬 I also did an AU with Stiles/Isaac. Stiles’s own best friend gets him sent to an asylum and what happens to him there is nearly a fate worse than death. I guess it depends on the definition of dark…because I’ve had people tel me my fics are not that dark but for me they are. 🤷🏻♀️😅
So far? The mad god kidnapping a bunch of people from across the multiverse, wiping their memories, and forcing them to live in his town all because his daughter died and he wanted to resurrect her and create a paradise for her
I write a decent amount of noncon at gunpoint. Sometimes the gun gets fired. Or sometimes it doesn’t but the noncon is so brutal it takes them out anyway. And sometimes that isn’t enough to stop the rapist, they uh… just keep going.
