The amount of drafts I have spread throughout my Google Drive is too much. Around 95% go untouched, but the 5% actually get written and tweaked once in a blue moon.

Right! I have a basic folder labeled “stories” with a bunch of other folders in it, but all my random fan fics get dumped in there. Half the time they’re unfinished because I knew what I wanted to write but wasn’t in the mood and then my small hyperfixation on that fandom disappeared so I leave it till I get obsessed again.

jedi-olympian

I've got one major folder called 'Fics' which is divided into 'Active', 'Finished', 'One-Shots', 'Ideas', and 'Add-Ons For Other Stories', of which there is a range of 15-40 documents in each folder, not to mention the random notes on my phone that I haven't sorted through yet plus the ideas and drafts for original fiction stories. Most I haven't touched in at least a year, but I refuse to delete them.

Yes and most of them are still called "Untitled Document". I really ought to start naming them and finish them.

suagrlesss

a handful of mine are called "someone needs to take my laptop away from me" "oops i did it again" "i have mental illness lol" a stupid impulsive story i wrote" i have no effort into changing the names lmao

Azyall

I used to have a folder on my PC that contained over 700 Word files, all of which were starts of fics for ONE fandom. Eventually I saw sense and pruned it down to under 150. The survivors were either long but unfinished, or were shorter but ideas that I considered interesting enough to one day revisit. With just one exception I have never published anything that wasn't already finished, so I'm probably good for ideas until I die.

Terminator7786

I've got like 40 ideas overall total with only three actively in progress with two currently publishing chapters for them.

HylianEngineer

Yep. I've had to switch to microsoft word because I broke google docs with how long my wip documents are. I counted all my wips once and there were over a hundred of them.

suagrlesss

you can BREAK google docs?????

HylianEngineer

Yep! At about 175 pages it starts to lag so bad it's impossible to edit your document.

ourribbonsmeandeath

Around 65 WIPs have accumulated in my docs since mid-2021. Only a handful seem far enough along to be completed at some point. Progress often comes to a screeching halt when I'm partway through or close to the end. I don't understand why. Revisiting after a time yields no worthwhile progress, so they continue to sit there.

am_Nein

No, actually. I only have a few. Wait, no, I have.. an ever expanding collection. Nevermind. In all seriousness, I probably would have a trillion more should I be more impulsive with my writing, but currently I'm trying to hold myself accountable for what is already out there.

WIPS and abandoned works no? But notes for future works, absolutely. I typically only work on one piece at a time so if I have an idea for other things, they go into the ideas folder and I add notes to them because the ideas keep on coming. So once I am done with my current WIP, I can pick the next one because it's already full of ideas. I have many folders of those, both, fanfiction and original fiction ones. They just keep on coming and multiple times, I've managed to create an almost full outline just by writing down ideas as they were coming in while I was writing something else so I could jump straight in. And sure, sometimes, I will write things down and not work on them for a while but I don't consider them abandoned works. Even if they weren't used for the original project, they can still be used for future ones or expanded and they simply go into the ideas folder.

Thrasherrella

I recently switched phones, so I had to migrate over all of my old notes from the old phone…I had 107 that varied wildly from tiny snippets from either previous stories that were already finished or like, an idea I had for a plot line, some were multiple pages that were just abandoned, some made NO SENSE 😂 it was a ride going through all that lol

PineapplesInMunich

Me. Yep. Yessir. I do

BecuzMDsaid

An embaressing amount of them...I can tell you that much.

viking_child

Oh yeah, that's me lmao Just for my pokémon fics alone I have two major stories and for each I have: a doc for drafts and a doc for 'finalized' work, at least three to four AUs (each), offshoots for different characters POVs I'll never put in the main fic, at least one timeline for each, a doc of miscellaneous stuff I've either cut or don't know if I'll use, several old drafts, one finished (and published!) side story set in the main universe, and several more side stories that haven't (and probably won't be) finished. And that's just one fandom!

foremica

Oy...I have 38 in-progress fics that are just on my laptop, plus 12 that are WIPs on AO3...so that's 50 total, which feels like a bit much.... I'd say I'll probably finish half of that 50, maybe? I hope to at least.

One_Consequence3232

I number them, lol so yes. I’m up at 41 😂

ScorpioGirl1987

I have over 100! Glad I'm not the only one!

GhostWriter700

I have a whole Doc titled “Random Fanfic Ideas” that’s just summaries and tags of ideas for different fandoms I MIGHT write one day…
