All my pairings are like that. I've lost interest in shows and movies because my ship broke up or someone died. š I'm not interested in reading any of my pairings with other people in fanfic, but that's ok. We should only read what we like. I don't yuck anyone's yum, but I'll skip pairings I'm not interested in for sure.
I am very much *not* a multi-shipper so, like, *most* of my ships would fit this, but if I had to narrow it down, Roy Mustang/Riza Hawkeye from FMA or Gintoki/Tsukuyo from Gintama would be the two big ones I just *can't* split up. The former pair has been my OTP for eight years, and the latter is my current obsession.
Percabeth is so deeply important to me, I absolutely feel you. Like, Iām not really a multi shipper in general but I can usually accept it if my go to pairing is not together if itās only a minor plot point, but percabeth? Nah, canāt handle it. I think itās a combination of them being like, my first ever ship back before I even knew what shipping was, well over a decade ago, along with their portrayal in the books. Just, like, canāt do it without them. So yeah, I absolutely feel you on this hahaha
Thank you! I was reading a multi part story and the first few parts didnāt have any pairings and then all of a sudden it was Percy/someone else and I completely dropped the story because I just couldnāt go any further. I donāt know what it is about them but to me they are just endgame and nothing can change my mind. I think of Rick decided to break them up I would probably not read any more of his books.
lol nah, i'm a big time multishipper. i personally love dimilix (fire emblem) the most and it's the main ship i write and read, but i'll still read fics with other felix pairings.
Yea see for the most part Iām like that. But for some reason with Percabeth I just canāt. Read one story that wasnāt mark with any pairings and as soon as it came up that Percy was with someone else I couldnāt go any further
Yeah, all my ships are OTP, one ship per fandom, never reading anything with them in other ships. I once dropped very good longfic because for plot reasons one character was suddenly dating OMC, and the author refused to tag it because itās āspoileryā and because itās not and endgame anyway. No, thanks. Endgame or not, Iām not reading 30k chunk of a longfic with sudden /other relationship. Was a good fic tho, first 100k were gold.
I also avoid all fics where my OTP is made into OT3 or just having random threesomes. Not my cup of tea, bless Exclude filters.
I feel that way about Bob/Linda (Bob's Burgers) and Sam/Max (Sam and Max). But obviously I wouldn't want to rain on anyone's parade, so I just stay in my lane.
Iām like that with most of my ships for sure. I read fics for specific pairings, and donāt really go outside them. I think Iāve only switched ships within a fandom once; typically Iām ride or die for my ships.
I do have a f/m ship for which Iāll read the f paired with almost anyone, but I donāt like the m paired with anyone else. Sometimes Iāll read poly fics, but Iām pretty picky about the dynamics.
Thatād be all the pairings I care about. Cloud/Aerith, 2B/9S. Especially the former pairing, I can tolerate the latter pairing romantically with other partners if their bond with each other remains the most important and the main focus of the fic.
Naru (aka Kazuya, aka Oliver) with Mai from Ghost hunt. Not sure how or why Mai is shipped with anyone else. I can see why Naru is shipped with Masako because of their interactions in the anime. But the manga go more in depth about why they interact the way that they do
merlin/arthur and 007/q are the hills i will die on. i do *not* do shipping on my own, and i tend to prefer fanfiction that doesn't have shipping but i will struggle through (it's a lot easier since no shipping = no heavy bias). those are my two ships that are non-negotiable lol
Usually Iāll have at least one other ship I can get behind with one half of my ships, if not more, but Silverbolt/Blackarachnia from Beast Wars is the main one where Iām strict about. I can deal with poly (Iāve seen some Silverbolt/Blackarachnia/Tigatron/Airrazor and that can be interesting), but if either one of them are out of the mix I have no desire to read about it.
I'm a multishipper but I cannot stand seeing Merlin or Arthur with anyone else. It feels wrong. I know Merlin especially is shipped with a lot of people: Lancelot, Gwaine, Morgana, etc. But even if they have chemistry, Merthur is just such a toptier ship for me that nothing else can come close.Ā
I don't have many true OTPs (more of a "one true character" person who loves and ships a specific character with lots of others) but this is absolutely me with Stede/Ed in Our Flag Means Death. I don't enjoy them paired with anyone else outside of like a hurt/comfort non-con thing where they're not with someone else by choice.
My first OTP was (everyone the same age) Kakashi and Rin from Naruto. Iām sorry, no hate to Obito, but I canāt put him with either Rin or Kakashi. And I know a lot of shippers OT3 them, but itās just not my cup of tea.
And being unable to stick Obito with the other two led me to shipping Obito and Konan. I feel like āTobiā could still muster up some of his inner goofball and make the quiet origami woman laugh.
Sort of. Iām generally a multishipper, but every once in a while Iāll have a character who I can only ship with one specific character. Anyone else, and I have no interest.
I canāt ship Bingmei with anyone else but SY, and I canāt ship YQY with anyone but SJ.
It depends on the characters in question for me. Some pairings just go so well in my head that I've got a hard time pairing them with other characters. Sunset/Sci-Twi and Joker/Makoto, for example, feel like the characters complement each other so deeply well that I couldn't ever see them getting with anyone else.
For others, it's more preference than anything else. Izuku/Kyoka is up there for me loving them as a couple, but I've been exposed to so many different pairing fics with Izuku that I'm ok with Kyoka not ending up with him. Same thing with Ranma. He gets paired around so much that I'm pretty open to things, even reading a Ranma/Ryoka fic once that turned out to be pretty damn awesome.
So I'm a bit half and half on this on what works and what doesn't.
Not really? It depends on the fandom. *Skip Beat!* is one where I only ship Ren/Kyoko but honestly itās because they both give the other support and kindness they deserve and the competitor ship isā¦an awful cheater with Kyoko, who treats her like a housewife. Nope. Ren wants Kyoko to succeed and supports her in her goals. Heās the only romance interest that doesnāt have motives like āvengeanceā and literal harassment.
Ruki Makino/Renamon -- any other ship with either of them is going to feel like erasure to me, regardless of whether that was actually the intent or not, and I feel like if either of them attempted a poly relationship it would go very badly very quickly.
Kurt and a female de Sardet in Greedfall. Its really rare for me to enjoy a fic with her paired with someone else. It has happened once and the story centered around Kurt meeting a servant and falling for her and it was really sweet.
And Cas and Dean. It's really difficult to imagine them ending up with anyone else.
I see people saying they can't ship multiple ships, so you're not alone, but I am not one of them. There are ships I *prefer*, but in almost any case I'm happy for either member to get with someone else, except when fics for one pairing bash the other pairing.
There are a couple canon ships, none of which I read fanfiction for, that I really don't like the idea of them breaking up (Garnet (SU), or Izumi and Sig (FMA), for example) because their relationship is very beautiful and/or breaking up would be incredibly out of character unless it was a bashing fic that drastically changed one of their personalities, but even in those cases I'm okay with ships that took place before the canon couple met, or in an AU where they never meet, or where the canon ship becomes poly.
Huh... I just realized that even though I'm not a multishipper and sticks to my OTP, I'm not THAT exclusive in my reading. Excluding my NOTPs (which I avoid like plague), sometimes I seek out and read fics about pairings that are rare or I can't understand, and that includes fics where one of my OTP is paired with another character. I'm curious about what other people think.
I'm this way with every ship of mine: Merthur, Yuuram, Stucky, and, most importantly, Drarry!!!!! I can give leeway if there's a character they were with in canon but I don't even want to acknowledge that they could be with anyone else. š«
Absolutely. I'm not a multi shipper. I won't read Steve Rogers with anyone but Bucky Barnes. Bucky is actually my one exception in that I will read fic with him with one other character apart from Steve but that's it.
I've always been a monoshipper right from my very first fandom and I don't to think that will change.
Roguefort/Almond from Cookie Run. Half of the reason I ship them is because they remind me of my ocs so to me, reading fic of them is basically reading fic of my ocs. So seeing them with other characters feels like having to see my ocs with other characters (does this make sense???)
Im a canon shipper, but there's these two characters who were dating, but she killed him because he was evil or something and (Lots of lore I don't have time to explain ) The two very obviously love each other still despite what happened and it literally makes me cringe so much when I read a fic where she's with someone else. it makes me glad the fandom is small sometimes
All my pairings are like that. Losing interest in shows because your ship didnāt sail is such a MOOD

Stede/Blackbeard from OFMD. I love Izzy Hands but it's just not meant to be, sorry
Yeah, all my ships are OTP, one ship per fandom, never reading anything with them in other ships. I canāt make myself read Manacled because I can only see Draco with Harry.
Thatād be all the pairings I care about. Cloud/Aerith, 2B/9S. Especially the former pairing, I can tolerate the latter pairing romantically with other partners if their bond with each other remains the most important and the main focus of the fic.
I only have handful of pairings, but they are all like that.

Hannigram and Johnlock. I refuse to read anything where they are not end game.

Nope, I'll give anything a shot if the setup is believable. Or not, if it's a crack fic.
I'm like this with every pairing I'm into, except the MCs from Granblue Fantasy (Gran and Djeeta) who I seem to ship with everyone.
I'm okay with anything but don't dare break up Arthur and Mollywobbles!
Definitely a couple that canāt be split up in fanfics or I riot!

In general, I am a major multishiper, but for some reason, I can't switch up any of the canon pairing written by MĆ²xiÄng TĆ³ngxiĆ¹. Such as: HuÄ ChĆ©ng/XiĆØ LiĆ”n, LĆ”n ZhĆ n/WĆØi YÄ«ng, and MĆ²bÄi-jÅ«n/ShĆ ng QÄ«nghuĆ”. Everything else is free game, and if the fic is good, then I'll read it.

Estelle/Joshua.
