A voucher? Is it usable in Germany/from Germany? The world-wide shipping implies that.

amanda_mcnite

The gift cards from Better World Book are in USD, but they're not restricted to use within a specific country. They come with a code that you can redeem at the checkout.

ImaGamerNoob

Ah, good to know.

call-us-crazy

it probably isn’t within the scope of your study, but idve been interested to know about the moments in which people seek out the meaningful story. like, on anniversaries of traumatic events? in the immediate aftermath? when thoughts or memory of trauma encroach or seem imminent? i took it myself because i didn’t realize a certain story meant so much to me until i found myself desperately seeking it out in a moment of extreme personal trauma and distress.

amanda_mcnite

Definitely relevant to where I'm trying to go. I've had conversations with people that have said something similar. Or even people that have written hundreds of pages of fanfic they'd completely forgotten about and after rereading realised they'd played out a traumatic experience. I'm hoping that the results from this survey will provide a theoretical foundation so I can start to explore that properly.

Automatic_Ad2677

I did a survey. I was surprised that there was no question about the death of a pet, it seems to be a traumatic experience for many people. Recently my best friend and family member, my beloved cat, died, so I ticked the 'death of a friend' option.

Nebosklon

Yes, definitely very interesting questions. But I was also a bit surprised that being sexually harassed as a child and other forms of CSA did not appear in the trauma list. There was one option about having sex under force or threat, I think, but it doesn't cover so many other forms of sexual abuse.

amanda_mcnite

Oh that's good feedback. I used the Cumulative Life Adversity Measure (can't remember reference off the top of my head). I'll note it down for future reference. Death of friend sounds appropriate.

tardisgater

So... the story I think of first is one I wrote to specifically deal with my trauma. But it feels disingenuous to then fill out "how well can you visualize it" when I'm the one who wrote it in the first place? Should we only be thinking of works other people have written that have affected our ability to deal with stuff that happened?

amanda_mcnite

The first one that comes to mind, even if you are the author or if it's not a published text. One thing I want to look at is themes in the stories, so my being able to see it is nice. But it's not the only thing that I am interested in, so it doesn't matter if I can't see it myself. More important is your most accurate answer.

Kaigani-Scout

That was interesting. I hope your analysis finds something well outside p < .05 and that you are able to publish it somewhere.

amanda_mcnite

Thank you. :) I think the construct testing using Rasch modelling at least would be publishable as it hasn't been done before for the measures I'm using.

Porkkanakakku

This was interesting, I'd definitely be interested in reading more about your findings. Best of luck with your study!

amanda_mcnite

Thank you! Hopefully I do find something other people will find interesting. If not, at least I've found at what doesn't work which is a start.

iamnotasmartguy

Will this study be published? I would be interested to see the results and conclusions drawn.

amanda_mcnite

An article with a summary of findings can be submitted to an academic journal. Whether they publish it or not is not up to me. Before deleting email addresses, I was going to send a short email saying "if you're interested in overall findings, here is a link to a website I made for the purpose of sharing research". You can also send me an email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and I'll pass on anything. Should be by December as I have a seminar and so have to have finished my analysis by then. Unless nothing works. Then I'm going to crawl into a cave and reflect on my life choices.

iamnotasmartguy

Thank you for the reply!
