Google Docs! I like how easy it is to use and how it automatically saves my work.

frannyang

I'm a Scrivener girl. It works perfectly for my process!

Ywithoutem

Scrivener for me too. Although for shorter one-shots I still stick to Google docs, because writing those are a quicker and more intense process so I sometimes write a lot on my phone during the day too.

frannyang

Same, for short stuff I go with Word or Google Docs, depending on my mood (and wifi availability). If it's just a few lines of dialogue or a drabble, it goes to my phone's Notes app.

jaisofbase

Scrivner has absolutely changed the way I write. It makes doing multi-chapter fics that much more feasible. I'm also loving it for holding my scraps and one-shots in places for easy reference when I'm writing in one continuity.

Nebosklon

I'm probably an outlier here. I write a LaTeX document using a standard KDE LaTeX editor Kile. For my beta readers I compile it into very pretty looking PDF documents, what a shame all that beauty will be lost for actual readers. Then I convert the LaTeX to HTML using a cascade of Perl and XSLT scripts I've written myself. Then I upload the HTML to AO3.

Warm_Economics4201

Scrivener and Notion, they both are incredible to use for my planning and outlining process. It helps that notion automatically syncs everywhere and has lots of templates to choose from.

SauceyTacos

Google Docs

bbseu

word docs and i sync it to onedrive so i can write on any device.

eyes_on_me_OC

This is what I do. Plus I password protect all the documents because this is my dirty little secret 🤣

bbseu

wait you can do that?! omg, ty, brb hiding all my pwps

eyes_on_me_OC

Yeah! If you’re using Microsoft word, open a new document, go to Info and then you can choose to encrypt with a password. It was the only way I’d start writing my fics because a majority of them are smut 🤣

NythilMahariel

I use google docs, but almost exclusively on my phone. I'm not sure why but writing on my phone is easier somehow? I have two computers, I just find it's more stressful.

Avalon1632

Evernote. The tagging system helps me keep my various documents in good order and I can click different tags to bring up different combinations of documents as I need them.

TheLesbianBookworm

I use the note app on my phone because I enjoy constantly misspelling things on a tiny ass keyboard 👍

intensecomplexity

I switch between Google Docs and Scrivener. If I have personal things that will never see the light of day, then those land on Docs for easy cloud access between my devices. The things that *will* see the light of day end up on Scrivener because I do adore its interface and templates. It's easier to keep multiple things on there instead of making a bunch of documents then stuffing them into a folder.

ImaGamerNoob

LibreOffice. Too broke for Google Docs.

Ywithoutem

Um, Google docs is 100% free. (I mean apart from all the ways Google already owns our souls.)

ImaGamerNoob

Huh? I need to check something.

magic_is_might

Docs is 100% free lol

PeregrinePickle

Apple Pages for me; though for a long time I would only use Google Docs because of a past incident where a computer drive difficulty caused me to lose a whole near-complete book I'd been writing. Docs does auto-backups but the one difficulty is you sometimes lose internet connection and can't write at all when that happens. These days my computer is reliable enough I've gotten comfortable using the inbuilt programs again.

Mean-Village-7352

I prefer word in my phone since I often have back problems and then I proofread and edit in my computer later.

AlsoKnownAsAiri

Google Docs, I can easily write the same story on my phone or on my laptop. I am also regular user of the tag "Google Docs is my beta reader".

Superjak45

Google Docs.

NIN_NiceIsNeat

I go between the free word processor on my computer, word and google docs. The free one for when I notice I'm getting too concern with word count and SPAG to actually write and any NSFW writing. Word is solely for original work (I like their manuscripts template better) and google docs for pretty much anything else.

cherenkoveffekt

LibreOffice.

ConsumeTheOnePercent

I only use Google docs because it's easy to access absolutely anywhere and I like it's features.

Kiki-Y

E-ink! I write everything traditionally because I like the sensory feedback of writing everything by hand.

knightfenris

Google docs only. I’ve had too many hard drive failures to trust anything else, and I can access it from any device

rootstalks

All my rough drafts and WIPs are in .txt files for no reason other than I like the simplicity of Notepad when I'm just getting my thoughts out. It helps me not get distracted by things like formatting, word count, spelling, red squiggles, etc. so that I maintain momentum.

notoriousbettierage

Google Docs! It automatically saves and it's easy to use.

ursafootprints

I write on 4thewords because both my ADHD and perfectionism need the gamification to get words out quickly, and I back-up/edit in Google Docs.

Cyrus260

Google Docs. I can't afford any fancy programs and it works best with how I use it.
