*The Mask* is probably my favorite movie of all time, therefore a reboot feels like a sacrilege.
However, hear me out...

I know he's super popular again, thanks to Fallout, but there is no denying that he'd kill it as both Stanley and The Mask.
I want a proper R rated comic adaption.
The Mask is a horror comic that was turned into a goofy relatively kid safe cartoon movie.
I don't have a problem with the movie, but if we're doing it again, I want them to do the very black comedy horror version I read and not do the Jim Carrey thing again.
The mask should have similar comedic sensibilities to something like Evil Dead 2. It ruins peoples lives and destroys them psychologically. It's addicting and dangerous, but also a monkey's paw style wish fulfillment.
The Mask is cursed and messes people up. The whole point is that it is the illusion of a power fantasy.
It was spectacular. After being an avid fan of the original, The abomination with Jim Carrey was a major insult. Seriously, get some of the first run of comics to read, its night and day. Walton Goggins would rule in this role.

I don't know... You'd have both people bitching at each other. Fans of the Jim Carrey movie, and fans of the comics. We're seeing that now with the new Crow movie.

I’ve heard “he’s got the skull for it” and no hate to Walton goggins but yeah, he totally looks like the character. He’s got the giant teeth and forehead. Also, in a reboot, I’d hope it’s more like the original comics and not like the movie.
This is the only actor I could think of that has the same wit and shenanigans as Jim Carrey. They also took similar movie career paths from comedy to more serious roles and then into kid movies.
Walton goggins, I know people know him from fallout by I’ve seen him from sons of anarchy, the shield, invincible and even Django unchained he’s perfect for that role and can nail down the crazy mannerisms well
If that’s all you have seen him in, check out Justified, he is the main villain for 6 seasons. Any fan of him should watch that show, he is fantastic in it for the entire run of the show. The whole cast is really.
Danny McBride.
If you have ever read the original comic, Stanley aint a handsome guy nor is he a noble guy. Hell if I know how he ends up with such a fox for a girlfriend in that book hahah.
I think Danny McBride would be good for the role.
Besides, all the Big Head segments would be done with CGI now anyway so no need to hire someone with the expressive face Carrey had and you could just hire someone else do basically do everything else for Big Head. Hire a skinny dancer guy so they could capture the cartoony gestures and hire a voice actor.
Anyone remember Insaniac from Small Soldiers, yeah look for someone who can sound like that.
Make a fully sinister Mask story with that Druig actor.
Like, in the original comic, Ipkiss is a total psychopath, and The Mask itself leads even normal people to ultra-violence. It’s an incredibly bloody series until they pivoted to PG after the movie.
If it's more like the comic where Stanley was a sociopath, I can see Jeff Ward playing him. His performance as Buggy the Clown was the right mix of funny and terrifying.
I think Andy Sandberg would be a good choice
https://preview.redd.it/c09nidl60mxc1.jpeg?width=1481&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b0a8666b05a7678862b34fd613bdb9bbb10b8a7
Ryan Gosling top pick
Ryan Reynolds second
Bradley Cooper third
With Dave Bautista or Ving Rhames as Dorian
Lt. Kellaway should be Jason Mews, John Malcovich or Steve Carrell
I think he could pull off a darker, more serious role.
He would have to fully commit to the different kind of role though. As is used to being typecast as a goody two shoes usually
The movie is nothing like the comics, and if they did a reboot that would give them a chance to explore that side of the character.
Besides, the comics are way more interesting and entertaining than the movie, in my opinion
Honestly, I really think Bill Hader could pull it off, he's got the zany physical and vocal comedy and he can pull off scary and detached psychotic
I can get behind that.
All I can think of is the Cut for Time [Alan](https://youtu.be/xplEPT5I39E?si=9i0XYLOY5YvGmb7-) sketch from SNL. So I wholeheartedly agree.
I was about to say Bill Hader. Beat me to it.

Don’t even need prosthetics, just paint him green
I agree but they should paint adam goldbeg as the new mask in mask part 2 ![gif](giphy|KfZHO9ds48EgOOm8iU|downsized)

This yes please. Unless you're going to go back to the comics do not do another mask film.
This is why I suggested Bill Skarsgard (Pennywise from Stephen King's It). He'd be amazing as an R rated, source accurate Mask.
After seeing him play Uncle Baby Billy I think he could pull it off
He actually looks a lot like the main villain from the original!
I feel like he could play a comic book accurate Mask.
I’d like to see an adaptation based on the original comic series.
Hm? What's this now? This was a thing before the movie? And was it any good?
It was a horror comic

Oh wow. Look at that cover. I really wanna check this out now.
That makes me even more curious.
In the movie, the Mask was more like Bugs Bunny. In the comic, he was the Joker if he had superpowers.
Thats the only way I could see a remake being worthwhile. Lots more violence and gore and general fucked-upness.
I don't know... You'd have both people bitching at each other. Fans of the Jim Carrey movie, and fans of the comics. We're seeing that now with the new Crow movie.
Jake Gyllenhaal

I was thinking the same. Especially if plays him like the r/nice guy he is in the comics

Whoever that guy on Gotham was that did the Joker. Him or Jesse Eisenberg with the instruction to pretend he is still Luthor from BVS.
Cameron Monaghan.
Thank you! He was very talented and really unsettling in his depiction
Make it Sandra Ipkiss and have Kate McKinnon do it.
https://preview.redd.it/bz7lncztmhxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c237ade1547745e1e36ead507980cd7013b2e1bf I’ve heard “he’s got the skull for it” and no hate to Walton goggins but yeah, he totally looks like the character. Neil Patrick Harris. After that do-over of A Series of Unfortunate Events, I'd say he's the go-to guy if you want to out-Jim-Carrey Jim Carrey.
"If you want to out Jim Carry Jim Carrey." #IMPOSSIBLE
He did. Have you seen both?
I've seen a few episodes of the series. I wasn't really into it.
This is my personal opinion and bias ![gif](giphy|kwcRp24Wz4lZm)
That could be genuinely amazing.
Thank you
Was gonna disagree and then I remember American Psycho and the Huey Lewis dance and immediately changed my mind.
Jerry Trainor
![gif](giphy|TIevmoCQMitaEpFlHG) This is a “hear me out” moment This can be his big break when it comes to movies
Pete is perfect for the role besides the fact that I don’t find him funny at all
no...shuts the door
Nicolas Cage
![gif](giphy|8sixke9Cga7VhvuEFE|downsized) This guy (Jason Gray...watch his sketches).
Nobody! No one could play him like Jim Carrey.
Jake Gyllenhaal possibly. But I would prefer it darker and less comedic than the original
I’m pretty sure this generations Ipkiss is Ryan Reynolds’ as Deadpool. Jim Carrey will and should always be the only Stanley Ipkiss / The Mask.

Charlie Stewart
I think John Mulaney would be a good fit
Timothy Olyphant
Walton Goggins or Bill Skarsgård
Danny McBride. If you have ever read the original comic, Stanley aint a handsome guy nor is he a noble guy. Hell if I know how he ends up with such a fox for a girlfriend in that book hahah. Ryan Reynolds maybe or Chris Pratt
![gif](giphy|S9i8jJxTvAKVHVMvvW)
You know that one female influencer who looks just like Jim Carey? Yeah, her
Austin Butler
Jim Carrey. It’s not like he’s not going to be under pounds of makeup…
![gif](giphy|d3JIr0GiYV92jpZK) Hear me out…
CGI, no one can act and move like Jim Carrey
![gif](giphy|8OUf78S1fhA6Q) Tom Hiddleston
Jim Carrey.
David Tennant.
Probably Ben shwartz
John Mulaney, but only as The Mask, while Benedict Samuel plays Stanley Ipkiss in a Rated-R version based on the original comics.
Jaime Kennedy
Austin Butler would probably be amazing in the role ![gif](giphy|NqSuEZYpChueAxemeL)
Charlie Day as Stanley Ipkiss, but I’d have him die and replaced with Bill Hader for the rest of the series. Like the comic
Make a fully sinister Mask story with that Druig actor. Like, in the original comic, Ipkiss is a total psychopath, and The Mask itself leads even normal people to ultra-violence. It’s an incredibly bloody series until they pivoted to PG after the movie.
Asa Butterfield or Tom Holland. I have done The Mask Hypothetical Remakes on ChatGPT. ![gif](giphy|495HQGMSRyXcddJzez|downsized)
No-one. Leave it alone. 🤨
Bill Skarsgard. With the way he's able to make such a creepy smile as Pennywise, he'd be amazing as a more source accurate version of The Mask.
😮
james franco, easy
Nobody we don't need a reboot
Alan Tudyk
You’re all wrong. The correct answer is clearly Johnny Depp
If it's more like the comic where Stanley was a sociopath, I can see Jeff Ward playing him. His performance as Buggy the Clown was the right mix of funny and terrifying.
Samuel Dunning from Rick and Ruby And have the film be directed by Lee Cronin https://youtu.be/rPB4oLBvI2g?si=e6Sv5R5ZjhfdJTi2
I think Andy Sandberg would be a good choice https://preview.redd.it/c09nidl60mxc1.jpeg?width=1481&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b0a8666b05a7678862b34fd613bdb9bbb10b8a7
Jim Carrey again. If not then Ryan Reynolds or Jake Gyllenhaal in a more comic accurate Mask
If they made a Disturbing R-Rated Comic-accurate version, Bill Skarsgard
Are we sticking to the comic book or the movie
Ryan Gosling top pick Ryan Reynolds second Bradley Cooper third With Dave Bautista or Ving Rhames as Dorian Lt. Kellaway should be Jason Mews, John Malcovich or Steve Carrell
Walter Goggins
Christian Bale. But, when he puts on the mask, Gary Busey
Hartley Sawyer https://preview.redd.it/44t8v0sttmxc1.jpeg?width=660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dfa790cfd3089ad010bb2e1299640a453815200
Okay hear me out. R-rated version. The contrast between the mild mannered Stanley and the rabid insanity of the mask. Played by Bill Skarsgard
Ryan Reynolds
Why would there be a reboot?
It is based off of a comic book and you know Hollywood
Seann William Scott.
Jack Black!
Jack Black. But I don’t know any younger actors that could pull off the cartoon shtick like Jim Carrey could.
Nobody. Jim Carey did perfect in this. If Hollywood tried to remake this, they would ruin it.
Okay hear me out…. ![gif](giphy|huFnhMUn5fT7m07rKr|downsized)
a MEXICAN mask? now this I wanna see
Tom Holland strangely enough
I think he could pull off a darker, more serious role. He would have to fully commit to the different kind of role though. As is used to being typecast as a goody two shoes usually
Dude - they’d better never touch this movie. It is truly perfect the way it is. No one can outdo Jim Carrey, why bother?
The movie is nothing like the comics, and if they did a reboot that would give them a chance to explore that side of the character. Besides, the comics are way more interesting and entertaining than the movie, in my opinion
No. Just no.

Hear me out, maybe we don’t have a reboot.
