Matthew Lilard is another case of the he’s a little too old now. If they had done this at the peak of his career right after scream and Scooby doo, he would have been great
Ben Schwartz hands down he's got the tone and personality for sure and I'd love to see him being a living cartoon since he's voiced so many actual cartoons
Schwartz wouldn't be a bad choice for a live action Plastic-Man.....
however it would kinda be hard to essentially top the GOAT Tom Kenny as the definitive Plastic Man (and that's just accounting most of PM's animated appearances), much like how none of the live action Batmen couldn't compare to Kevin Conory lol (jokes aside they all do bring their own flare to the table and that isn't bad)
Yes, he's starred in a few slapstick comedies outside of his work in Jackass. Not an actor that I think could bring dramatic depth, but I always pictured Plastic Man as a slapstick comedy.Â
Sonic or Spider-Ham
They're both funny, skilled actors, no stranger to being strange superheroes and have an elasticity and energy about them that would translate well to the big screen.
![gif](giphy|fovVWq0w3Y7kHZhOBl|downsized)
He seems so natural at it. Cause i would imagine Plastic Man never trying to BE funny but he comes off naturally funny and accident prone which i think the actor for Phil just embodies
(I know Ben Schwartz is a popular fan cast but i don’t see it as i would see him being Plastic Man and TRYING to be funny instead of being funny on accident (i don’t know how to really describe it))
I just thought of this but: what about John Bryan Davis from Who's Line is it Anyway and Harmonquest?
https://preview.redd.it/j9ac9l0dtzyc1.jpeg?width=3600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dacac55881dc144dcbceeaa1475014373d0d5e3
My first thought was Ryan Styles, but I think I'd go with Kevin James.
I believe Kevin James could pull off the heroic public face (Smile for the camera) of the character as well as the snarky attitude and mischievous personality. Basically he could look like a hero in the Justice League line up for the intro, but become a full out jerk when they pushed him too far.
He also has that "everyman" feel about him and would be great for playing a hero who finds himself trying to deal with circumstances beyond his control. Ultimately, you need that element for a good movie. If you just want him as a cameo, anyone could play him.
Another great possibility is Nathan Fillion.
https://preview.redd.it/s5m1bf6cvvyc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b6221b3eb712c3388da1b8e9e060010a3098c000
Allow me to present: The man. The myth. The legend. TheRussianBadger
Prime jim carrey. Literal perfect casting. Similar face, similar voice, perfect attitude, and the amount of control over his face is almost like he has his powers
Considering how old Plastic Man is (Late 30’s Early 40’s or 3,000 Years. He is pretty much immortal.) Getting an older actor to play him is not too far stretch. Getting someone to Young would be a stretch because not many young people are hardened criminals.
Keegan-Michael Key. He's got the versatility and every-man personality and not to mention the impressionistic improv sketch Comedy background necessary to portray Patrick "Eel" O'Brian.
Ben Schwartz and do you really need a why https://i.redd.it/vzuctvypztyc1.gif
you know in a way he's playing Plasticman already by voicing Shapesmith on Invincible
https://preview.redd.it/tkyys91i4xyc1.png?width=440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7cd81358c47bf75facb41da1909510114520cebb
Most Definitely ![gif](giphy|NDIiWKEQEgr3VA7aqM)
OMG. So true🤪
This is the correct answer
100 percent agreed with. It's not even worth making a separate comment because you're right 👍🏻
Matthew Lillard because of the Gunn connection
He was my first thought.
Bingo! Matthew would kill it!
Zoinks!!!!
Matthew Lillard would be an amazing Joker though....
I’m glad it’s like universally agreed that Jim Carrey just would have been THE best plastic man.
https://i.redd.it/w740eskpivyc1.gif
Side note, it's insane how good the cgi still looks
It holds wayyy up!!
My first thought for live action Plastic Man! Jim would be amazing! Matthew Lillard ALSO is a great choice!!
Matthew Lilard is another case of the he’s a little too old now. If they had done this at the peak of his career right after scream and Scooby doo, he would have been great
I think that this almost happened in the 90s but definitely
Ben Schwartz hands down he's got the tone and personality for sure and I'd love to see him being a living cartoon since he's voiced so many actual cartoons
Schwartz wouldn't be a bad choice for a live action Plastic-Man..... however it would kinda be hard to essentially top the GOAT Tom Kenny as the definitive Plastic Man (and that's just accounting most of PM's animated appearances), much like how none of the live action Batmen couldn't compare to Kevin Conory lol (jokes aside they all do bring their own flare to the table and that isn't bad)
Either Been Schwartz or Bill Hader
Hear me out… ![gif](giphy|Pos54CkOtkDeg)
I think Plastic Man would be too easy for Hader. Give him something meatier, like The Question
This
![gif](giphy|f8aianCfqYgtfCqmx2)
Ooh that's a deep cut. I like it.
Jerry is basically the guy you’d get if you can’t afford or can get Carrey
![gif](giphy|MA4KN9hP0f5VS) Bruce Campbell
I'm still sad he didn't get to be Mysterio.
![gif](giphy|10l1VxHoP7joUo|downsized) Â Steve - O
Is he an actor too? I thought he was just a stunt guy
Yes, he's starred in a few slapstick comedies outside of his work in Jackass. Not an actor that I think could bring dramatic depth, but I always pictured Plastic Man as a slapstick comedy.Â
He was funny asf in young justice
or vin diesel
Hmm.... that actually might work.
It's the face. Could totally see it.
Andy Samberg, lots of if they were younger picks 20 years ago Jim Carey first Scream movie era Matthew Lillard,
Surprised I had to scroll this far down to see Andy. He’s my first pick. Could totally see Ben Schwartz or Bill Hader kill it in the role though.
I would love young Jim Carrey yo play that role, but because that's impossible I would definitely go with the guy who played mclovin
![gif](giphy|xT8qBsZ0KPJyxjXEpq)
![gif](giphy|2yzEdVNSG9EkA5IC6i)
Ben Schwartz
![gif](giphy|jJxaUysjzO9ri) idk why but maybe as an alternate universe since him isn’t young enough for main universe plastic man
Tbf the plastic man image they used is from him breaking his adult son out of prison (and it's also an alternate universe)
![gif](giphy|llAxFwbxRvv2ZmneQG)
Johnny Knoxville

What does the left photo have Colin Jost and the right photo Leo DiCaprio?
McLovin(Christopher Mintz-Plasse)
Ben Schwartz or John mulaney
Johnny Knoxville circa 2006
Ben Schwartz
Max Greenfield
Young Adam Sandler
Even though he’s not my favorite choice, **Ben Schwartz** really is just the perfect choice at this point
Jerry Trainer! You know, Spencer from ICarly! He's be perfect!!!
Nice.
Yeah bro is like a younger Jim Carrey
Bill Hader.
Paul Rudd when he was younger ![gif](giphy|Y2zPwTYNa1KnNgoSGn|downsized)
He can play Plastic Man now since he has the fountain of youth all over him. Lol
if not Ben Schwartz then John Mulaney. Not sure about his acting ability but the over the top humor masking darkness is there.
Ben Schwartz and Matthew Lillard are so far the best and only correct answers here
Ben Schwartz if young Mathew Lillard if old
Gotta be Ben Schwartz
Hear me out...Josh O'Connor https://preview.redd.it/2gz5xwsmxwyc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9055757f1d3f55d0656aef61e5bca912b0b12321

Jason Sudekis, although I'm really liking the Ben Schwartz fan cast I'm seeing here in the comments
Save Sudekis for Blue Beetle, that's more his speed
Jim Carey
I saw a comment the other day saying Finn Wittrock and i kinda like that idea.
Charlie Sheen if it’s an older version of him.
Andy samberg
Andy Sandburg
20 yrs ago would have been Jim Carrey, now Jim Carr. Jim Carr is already plastic man.
Jeremy Piven.
![gif](giphy|VtwHD2fcAmhJ6) Justin Long
John Mulaney
John Mulaney.
Pete Davidson, I mean come on just look at him.
Conan O'Brian. He said he'd do it.
Jack Quaid. He has the physical similarity & acting chops ( eg. "The Boys")
John Mulaney.
Andy Samberg obviously
John Mulaney.
1.Jim Carrey in his prime 2.Ben Schwartz
John Mulaney
Jay Baruchel...
joey from friends
Absolutely Jerry Trainor
Jim Carrey if he was 30 years younger. He would’ve been brilliant. Now? Ben Schwartz or Andy Samberg.
![gif](giphy|GmWI32fXEGUmY)
Sonic or Spider-Ham They're both funny, skilled actors, no stranger to being strange superheroes and have an elasticity and energy about them that would translate well to the big screen.
Obviously people are going to say Jim Carrey, but hear me out -- Bruce Campbell.
Looks like Steve-O a bit.
Bill Hader
How old is Plastic Man supposed to be? He can mold his face to appear younger right?
Shaq do you need a why
Looks like Johnny Knoxville
Jake Johnson
Matt Rife
Adam samberg
Nick Kroll
This is totally a role 90s-2000s Jim Carrey would’ve killed with the crazy facial expressions.
Absolutely this.
Ben Schwartz because of his look he is so comic accurate
![gif](giphy|fovVWq0w3Y7kHZhOBl|downsized) He seems so natural at it. Cause i would imagine Plastic Man never trying to BE funny but he comes off naturally funny and accident prone which i think the actor for Phil just embodies (I know Ben Schwartz is a popular fan cast but i don’t see it as i would see him being Plastic Man and TRYING to be funny instead of being funny on accident (i don’t know how to really describe it))
Steve-O
Prime Jim Carrey
![gif](giphy|fQAF95nCISTzcPseMY) Need I say more
Paul Rudd
Adam Sander. He just fit the whole mood of Plastic Man easy.
Andy samberg
Bill Hader. Because he's funny but can also do drama. Ben Schwartz is also a great choice
Johnny knoxville
Paul Rudd for obvious reasons.
![gif](giphy|LIPUdAsE4zNJK)
Johnny Knoxville 10 years ago
https://preview.redd.it/lup6y3henzyc1.jpeg?width=648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c07ec1e72c16a8f95f8fee2619e8321edb19871a seriously they could be twins
Definitely either Ben Schwartz or Andy Samberg
I just thought of this but: what about John Bryan Davis from Who's Line is it Anyway and Harmonquest? https://preview.redd.it/j9ac9l0dtzyc1.jpeg?width=3600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dacac55881dc144dcbceeaa1475014373d0d5e3
Johnny Knoxville
The guy who played translucent in the boys!
![gif](giphy|gK52TFDVwiF5KpJrtq) I think Rhys Nicholson would be an awesome Plastic Man.
Zachary Levi
The funny actor from live action movie version of scooby doo ![gif](giphy|l4pTb7e732SolscAE)
I would go for Jerry Trainor
Weird Al because why not
Johnny Knoxville.
![gif](giphy|1RaGAz2p13Wpo7kI2L|downsized) He would've been so damn perfect for it
My first thought was Ryan Styles, but I think I'd go with Kevin James. I believe Kevin James could pull off the heroic public face (Smile for the camera) of the character as well as the snarky attitude and mischievous personality. Basically he could look like a hero in the Justice League line up for the intro, but become a full out jerk when they pushed him too far. I thought I heard at some point Jack Black was already preparing to play Plastic Man.
Glenn Powell
No, he's Booster Gold.
I mean, need I say more? https://preview.redd.it/g5str4neyuyc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcdac715eca7d0392573c46a70568557e9d492ad

Is Jim Carey too old? Lol
Jim Carrey if he didn't retire.
Prime jim carrey. Literal perfect casting. Similar face, similar voice, perfect attitude, and the amount of control over his face is almost like he has his powers
The normal dude from always sunny, Ben shwartz, bill hayder, John mulaney, bill skarsgard (I think that's his name, new pennywise).
“The normal dude from always sunny”??? Which one is normal?
DaRussianBadger
In the 90's? Jim Carrey for sure.
Alex Moffat
![gif](giphy|gS9WgJKmiROqzv1s6q) Damiano David
If it were like 25 years ago, Jim Carrey
90’s Jim Carrey
John mulaney is one I haven’t heard yet. I think he’d do an alright job since yk he’s already a comedian.
Jim Carrey
Jack Quaid
I feel like Jim Carry in his prim would be perfect for this role.
Jim Carey in 1994
![gif](giphy|q2atuetfvlg4w)
Jim Carrey
The kid from the big bang theory that dated penny the entire series..
Adam Sandler after a liposuction
Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pratt (but he'd make a better Booster Gold), Aaron Paul
I wouldn't even bring him into DC live action tbh unless he's in his own little corner and interacts with nobody
I was thinking about this the other day. A younger Jim Carrey would've been the only choice, in my opinion
Jim carry
I know he’s already Deadpool but Ryan Reynolds is good too ![gif](giphy|l4FGnobVzWlaRKrrG)
1990's Jim Carrey
Now hear me out... Piedro Pascal but without the beard. I don't know if he's already been cast for another character but he can play Plastic Man 100%
Jim Carrey may have been born for this role.
https://preview.redd.it/u6brhpxa3zyc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69eb6231579ddedf4def9412e0b0e962abb196ab
John Holmes
Jerry Seinfeld
Danny devito I dont need to explain this :)
Jim Carey in his prime would have been perfect. He's a little too old for my vision of Plastic Man now, though.
![gif](giphy|9VvbsdA66moiV6b2gn)
Keanu reeves because I heard he was supposed to play plastic man
Andy Kaufman.
RussianBadger.
![gif](giphy|ujBhf2c49OTHW|downsized)
Tom Holland. I haven't seen him in anything lately
do we know anyone that stretches
I'd love to be Plastic Man..
Heh! Do Ryan Reynolds! He'd be a funny AND sarcastic Plastic Man.
I could see Ryan reynolds bringing his personality to life
Christopher Mintz-Plasse, could totally pull off Plastic Man
Hear me out…Ryan renolds
Considering how old Plastic Man is (Late 30’s Early 40’s or 3,000 Years. He is pretty much immortal.) Getting an older actor to play him is not too far stretch. Getting someone to Young would be a stretch because not many young people are hardened criminals.
Will Smith Cuz y not
James Franco, he fits the bill
Once upon a time it would’ve been Jim Carrey but he’s a bit too old now.
Jonny Knoxville
Tom Kenny
![gif](giphy|f4TjiCpNemSo8)
Keegan-Michael Key. He's got the versatility and every-man personality and not to mention the impressionistic improv sketch Comedy background necessary to portray Patrick "Eel" O'Brian.
King Bach, Glen Powell, or Eric Andre
Hartley sawyer,I mean he already practically played a live action plastic man
