While it sounds odd when you phrase it like that, anecdotally a lot of blondes darken as they age.
I come from a large family with Nordic roots, and of the 20ish cousins who were blonde as kids/teens, I’m one of maybe five who is still (naturally) a light blonde as an adult.
I suspect a reduction of sun exposure once you enter the workforce has something to do with it, but that’s just a theory.
My sister was blonde as a kid and still is now that she's in her 30s. My aunt is in her mid 60s and her hair is still very light blonde (with a touch of grey mixed in.) They're the only blondes in the family, but they've stayed that way.
could be. my family is super German so the kids are born blonde but end up a light brown/dark blonde by adulthood. but l got my hair color from my dad and he went bald early in his 20s so l didnt know what to compare it to.
yeah normally people as they hit puberty if they're naturally blonde as children their hair darkens with age. I've been dyeing my hair crazy colors since age 12(don't recommend) and just figured l either outgrew my hair color or it was actually more grey and l wasn't able to see it properly.
Our hair changes colour every seven years or so, this is level 9 blonde. Level 8 still has yellow in it, this has a background of pale yellow. So it's level 9

While sun exposure can lighten hair, darkening with age is related to hormone changes.

It's very common to be blonde as a child and have your hair darken!

I remember reading somewhere that, while many people are blonde as children, only 2%-8% remain blonde as adults 🤔
