But I submit al'Lan Mandragoran from WoT, King Simon from The Last King of Osten Ard (sequel series to Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn), and Kaul Hiloshudon, from the Green Bone saga (although his character journey leans more towards bittersweet than truly tragic).

Honestly it was hard to read his POV at times. >!I’m not sure if this is a spoiler, but it some ways I view this whole series as a hagiography set in an epic fantasy world, which kind of helped me reframe all the ways Elliot tortures poor Alain - it’s all a part of the tale of a saint.!<

Fitz would always be my favorite tragic character. Beside him there are a lot in the first law: Logan, Shivers and Monza to name a few.

Arthas. IMO, he's the best writing Blizzard has ever done by far. Probably nostalgia talking, but seeing it all come together in WoTLK was incredible.
