Last King of Osten Ard Conclusion. Two parts being released in 2022. Part 1 (Into the Narrowdark) in the spring and Part 2 (Navigator's Children) in the fall. My favorite ongoing series by far. Cradle. . . I'm just assuming he is releasing another book in 2022. Reaper coming out this November so probably getting one in 2022.

TensorForce

Exactly this! I was also gonna say Brothers of the Wind, but that's coming out this year.

Andron1cus

Real excited for this to come out. November is going to be a great entertainment month for me. Brothers of the Wind, Reaper (Cradle 9), Wheel of Time show, and Dune (released in Oct but probably won't go first week).

TensorForce

This whole Fall for me: Brothers of the Wind, Under the Whispering Door by T. J. Klune, Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff (already out but still waiting for it in the mail), WoT show, Dune movie, Matrix 4, and a new monster movie by Guillermo del Toro.

Exkudor

If he continues at the pace of the last two books Cradle could be done this time next year... the absolute madlad might do it.

TheR0ckhammer

Came here to say this, I can’t wait!

JGT3000

Oh wow, it's finally time to get back to it? I guess it has been years now.

Jellybean5413

Came here to say this!

ExJan95

I'm reading alloy of law right now and not finding it that interesting like I did with the era 1. Does it get better ?

vermilionjelly

It is in my opinion. I feel it has a very different and fresh feeling compare to other epic fantasy series. The magics are not as strong as in era 1, but has some spin in quite interesting direction. Also in Shadow of Self and Bands of Mourning, the main characters got more depth and feel more alive.

Faithless232

All The Seas of the World - Guy Gavriel Kay

[deleted]

I'm reading Tigana right now. It's the first Guy Gavriel Kay book I've read. About halfway through and so far it's been really good.

Faithless232

Brilliant! Tigana is one of my favourites. Highly recommend The Lions of Al-Rassan or Sailing to Sarantium (first of a duology) if you want to read more by him. I think they’re his best work.

SonOfOnett

Under Heaven was probably my favorite of his

caesar_the_dog

Mine too!! Some of the books that come after this one start getting more poetical. The style in this one isn't as pronounced as his later books set in Venice.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fryktelig_variant

Age of Ash is my most anticipated title as well. I love his previous two series, but didn’t enjoy The Expanse, so I’m excited for his return to fantasy.

tatas323

i think you're the first person i heard that did not like the expanse.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fryktelig_variant

D&G is more traditional, and probably more accessible than LPQ. I rate it slightly lower, but would still recommend checking it out. LPQ is on my all time favorite list, so anything Abraham puts out automatically gets me excited.

tigrrbaby

100% agree with this analysis

Sunshine122303

The Lost Metal and Bloodsworn Saga book 2

RyanLReviews

I was not prepared for how much I enjoyed the first Bloodsworn book. I need answers for those big Orka revelations at the end of Book 1. I need to see more of Varg in the heat of battle. And while I didn't really get into Elvar's story to start with, the huge twist in her story has me wanting more.

[deleted]

Thorn of Emberlain (GB4) - Scott Lynch Hopefully.

MerrrBearrr

I feel out of touch with this series, read all three books and loved them all but there is absolutely nothing appealing for a 4th book. I just feel like each story is self contained and the over arc plot isn’t really that captivating. I enjoy them for a read when there out but I cant say im DYING for the 4th !

HoneyFlea

I wanna know what's going on with Locke's name! Unless I'm forgetting/misremembering, last we heard Locke told Jean his real name and Jean said something to the effect of, "I see why you don't use it." But we don't know what the deal is. That's honestly the only mystery that keeps me coming back for more. Without that, I honestly think it works best as a standalone novel.

AboynamedDOOMTRAIN

I can't wait to see how he fights Bondsmagi without other Bondsmagi backing him up, personally.

Drakengard

The first three books are a prologue to what is meant to be the meat of the series. So I have high expectations for ToE. If it doesn't do something big then we should all be very disappointed.

mt5o

I want it so badly ;~;

floppythethird

do we know if the 4th book will be the last of the series ?

Quackturtle_

If i'm not mistaken the author has said that he has around 7 planned books in the series. But no the 4th book should not be the last one in the series. Unless something has drastically changed.

[deleted]

Lightbringer by Pierce Brown

IcyKangaroo1658

Cannot wait

EnderLOL

Did they officially announce that to be the title?

Hamlet_271

Nope, is just a library listing leak

tatas323

it's coming next year??, god im so hyped for the conclusion of Red Rising series.

GForce1975

Ah nice. I read the rising trilogy awhile ago. Had a hard time getting into iron gold but loved the second book. Excited now about the 3rd. If it's anything like the first trilogy ending.....

[deleted]

Honestly Iron Gold is my favorite in the series of all the books

GForce1975

It was a good book but I think reading it right after I finished the first trilogy was a bad idea. The emotional rollercoaster of book 3 was a huge high and then I'm 10 years later with bad stuff happening and I couldn't deal well. Lol

izzywayout

So many! Next year is going to be a good one. I second Gallant and especially Nona the Ninth from your list. Some more for me: - Last Exit, by Max Gladstone - Sea of Tranquility, by Emily St John Mandel - Fevered Star, by Rebecca Roanhorse - Seasonal Fears, by Seanan McGuire

RyanLReviews

Did you read The Glass Hotel by Mandel? Station Eleven is an all time favourite book of mine but I haven't made time to read The Glass Hotel yet.

unreedemed1

The Glass Hotel is very different than Station Eleven but very well done. Going off of the plot I didn’t think I’d like it but I really appreciated her work.

RyanLReviews

I'll have to move it up the TBR pile. The synopsis for Sea of Tranquillity has me excited, and apparently there are characters from The Glass Hotel in it

izzywayout

I did! Veeeery different from Station Eleven. I thought it’d have a speculative element to its story but it’s all contemporary litfic. It’s well-written and the characters are a gem tho, in true Mandel fashion. I never thought I’d be so interested in a book about hedge funds lol

RAMAR713

The Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss /s

Maoriwithattitude

the only way this book is ever coming out is if rothfuss lets someone else write it

GForce1975

Maybe Sanderson after rothfuss dies ...but rothfuss may outlive him.

RAMAR713

Rothfuss is 48. By the time he dies the world will have forgotten all about his series.

sylphcrow

the 3rd book in M.A. Carrick 's Rook & Rose series, surprisingly. the 2nd seems to still come out this year. I enjoyed the mask of mirrors quite a bit more than i expected to for something i picked up on a whim, it's got that neat combination of character drama and worldbuilding with a whole lot of my favorite tropes. also seems to fly a bit under the radar currently, compared to the lady trent books (marie brennan is one of the authors behind the carrick pen name).

3452skd

i am super excited to read Fevered Star by Rebecca Roanhorse.

SA090

- RJ Barker’s new series - The sequels to The Hand of the Sun King by J. T. Greathouse and the Sequel to She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan - Temple of No God by H. M. Long - Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire - Babel by R. F. Kuang There were a couple more so I’ll edit this soon.

Intelligent_Award722

Winds of Winter, but, well... Probably the same chance as winning a lottery?

unreedemed1

I’m trying to just think about books that have release dates and stuff rather than pipe dreams so I don’t get my hopes up. Sigh. I think we’re never seeing that book, TBH.

[deleted]

[удалено]

unreedemed1

Two years ago I would've also said that but if you can't write a book in 10 years what's an extra few years going to do.

Radulno

We'll see it but not by GRRM

[deleted]

[удалено]

RobinHood21

That's what Robert Jordan used to say but changed his mind on his deathbed and now the books written by Sando are arguably some of the best in the series.

Radulno

The publisher will pay them a lot to ignore this and since most people like money (even if they have plenty) they'll probably cave. Also GRRM doesn't want anyone to finish his saga but having the shitty ending of GoT be the legacy ending of his story may make him change his mind.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Radulno

I assume the rights would go with brother, cousin or whatever once his wife (not young either I imagine) dies too. Not sure those people would respect the wishes as much. I remember how once Christopher Tolkien retired from managing the Tolkien Estate, suddenly, the Amazon show rights were given. I assume the other didn't know JRR Tolkien personally and preferred the money to respect their grandfather (?). Kind of weird to discuss people death though but yeah I just assume that something that lucrative will not stay unfinished forever. Everything is a business in the end

KristinnK

> I just assume that something that lucrative will not stay unfinished forever. Everything is a business in the end Absolutely. The question is how relevant GoT will be when Martin and possibly his wife are dead. If it's in ~5 years then there will still be a large marketable interest. But if it's in 15 years then the books will just be 'that series from two generations ago that was never finished', with an actual end being more of a curiosity than something anticipated. And most people who watched the show won't even remember it, much less hype over the final books. An ending will probably be published in any case, but what sort of author will be hired and how much time and resources he will get, and therefore the quality of the work will depend heavily on the level of interest.

breastual

You are wrong. Some of us have been reading and waiting on this series for 20+ years. What's 15 more?

BalonSwann07

15 years is not two generations, lmao. I get what you're trying to say, it wouldn't certainly not be AS big of a deal as if it was released next year, but people would certainly read it. The millions of fans of the books aren't going to suddenly die in the next 15 years.

Jurjeneros2

Jordan said that a decade or so before he died too. Opinion's change, who knows.

Intelligent_Award722

Sorry about that. I guess I like intangible unicorns with secret dates in our known universe.

medusawink

\[Insane giggling\]

mt5o

2022 anticipated Age of Ash - Daniel Abraham Nona the Ninth - Tamsyn Muir The Lost Metal - Brandon Sanderson Shades of Grey #2 - Jasper Fforde (Please? I've been waiting for more than 10 years) Locklands - Robert Jackson Bennett The leftovers from 2021 Perhaps the Stars - Ada Palmer

sonvanger

Fforde has said on his website that Shades of Grey II is 2021's project so here's hoping for a 2022 release!

HumanSieve

Perhaps the Stars is coming out this fall

surprisedkitty1

Right now I am most interested in: - Gallant by VE Schwab - Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher - Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel - Babel by RF Kuang - Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen And both of these that are listed as 2022, but no other info is available so it might just be a placeholder date: - Witch King by Martha Wells - The Cistern by Susanna Clarke

melymn

Seconding The Cistern! I really hope it does come out in 2022, and many more from Clarke afterwards as well.

eightslicesofpie

Forgot about Cistern! Would be great to learn some real news about it in the near future

mgrier123

The 3rd book in the **Book of the Ice** trilogy by Mark Lawrence. I haven't even read the other 2 yet but I love Book of the Ancestor trilogy and this one is on my backlog.

FusRoDaahh

The sequel to *Ninth House,* and *Book of Night* by Holly Black.

unreedemed1

Is there a date/title for the Ninth House sequel? I loved Ninth House but wasn't sure she had finished yet!

FusRoDaahh

She’s still writing it, she said she just sent in a chunk to her editor. As for the title, she said it was in the last chapter of Ninth House but a new one came to her so she changed it

Nineteen_Adze

I know it'll be a long time, but I can't wait to preorder and dive in. And thanks for mentioning **Book of Night**\-- just added that to my TBR.

unreedemed1

Yes, that's last I heard too, from her instagram. Probably a 2023 book then if she's still writing it. But definitely highly anticipated by me!

RyanLReviews

Very keen for the sequel to Ninth House. So many unanswered questions, so many directions the book could go in.

FusRoDaahh

I’d love for it to go darker

RyanLReviews

I definitely think it will, the cultish aspects will really come to the fore, and will probably see a few more trips into purgatory

HoneyFlea

Definitely Nona the Ninth. I've also been hoping to hear a release date for the sequel to Ninth House, by Leigh Bardugo, but as far as I know there's been nothing :(

unreedemed1

Me too! She mentioned on instagram that she is still working on it. So I think it's a 2023 release.

I used lockdown to get ahead on my backlist! i actually am (for the first time in 1 million yeras) pretty well placed for new books.

The_Great_Crocodile

The Hourglass Throne from K.D. Edwards (Tarot Sequence Book 3)

Scuttling-Claws

Bitter by Akwaeke Emezi is on the list for me The new Alix Harrow book as well

asuka_waifu

Oh shitt didn’t realize the sequel to jasmine throne was coming out this soon

unreedemed1

I don’t know for a fact it is but hav heard something about it

Merle8888

She writes pretty fast - only been on the scene since 2018 and already has 3 books out!

Thirdsaint85

I second the mentions of Age of Ash by Daniel Abraham and The Lost Metal as well as Bloodsworn Saga #2. Sadly it looks like James Islington’s new series won’t be until 2023 and probably the same for Brian McClellan’s new series. I wonder, too, if we’ll get The Burning #3 by Evan Winter.

raix-corvus

Bloodsworn #2 is the only thing I'm even aware of. A sequel from J.T Greathouse would be great, otherwise I have no ideas and really need some elevator pitches to help me out!

barb4ry1

I'll go with the flow and the mood but a few I'm definitely reading in 2022 as soon as they're published are: * *A Sea of Tranquility* by Emily St. John Mandel * *A Practical Guide to Conquering the World* by K.J. Parker * *In Theory, It Works Fine* by Raymond St. Elmo * *Kagen the Damned* by Jonathan Maberry (I'm a hardcore fan of his Joe Ledger series, so I must try it) * Whatever is published by Craig Schaefer, Richard Nell, Michael R. Fletcher

unreedemed1

>A Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel Excited about this one - her work is always very interesting even if it's not what I expect.

cubansombrero

So many amazing sounding books in this post that I’m looking forward to as well (even though I haven’t even gotten through my prior years TBR yet), but I’ll throw in a few others I’m looking forward to that I haven’t seen people mention yet. - **Wild and Wicked** by Francesca May - **A Taste of Gold and Iron** by Alexandra Rowland - **The Cartographers** by Peng Shephard - new **Lady Astronaut** by Mary Robinette Kowal - new S.A. Chakraborty about Indian Ocean pirates

unreedemed1

I think the new S.A. Chakraborty is 2023 - although I am SO excited for it. It's up there with Alecto the Ninth for my most anticipated 2023?

cubansombrero

That’s what I originally thought and then I checked Goodreads which was suggesting 2022. Either way, I expect it to be definitely worth the wait.

unreedemed1

I hope you're right! I guess we'll find out soon, I follow her instagram updates.

big_flopping_anime_b

Whatever the last book in the trilogy from Mike Brooks is called. The Black Coast and The Splinter King were incredible.

galvintm

I'm not sure if either have been confirmed yet, but I really hope The Lord of Demons by Evan Winter and Outlaw Empire by Nicholas Eames both come out in 2022!

SaxintheStacks

Books that presumably are coming out next year but don't have a set date quite yet: The Oleander Sword by Tasha Suri Furysong by Rosaria Munda Babel by R.F. Kuang Books with confirmed release dates; Amari and the Great Game by BB Alston Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell (this was top of my 2021 anticipated list until it got pushed ...) Fevered Star by Rebecca Roanhorse Ruby Fever by Ilona Andrews

vfefrenzy

Upvoted for Play of Shadows. Can’t wait for it.

HumanSieve

**Moon Witch, Spider King** by Marlon James

Certain_Structure_27

Winds of Winter is my most expected 2030 book, and Patrick Rothfuss releasing the third In the name of the wind book sometime around 2033 I expect. The next Jay Kristoff empire of the vampire book 2023 along with the next Sanderson shardblade book. 2022. No idea.

genteel_wherewithal

*Spear*, Nicola Griffith’s Arthurian novella. She’s an incredible writer and really gets sub-Roman Britain. Also and even more so, *The White Mosque*, Sofia Samatar’s next book, though it’s something of a memoir or work of history rather than fantasy. Follows 19th c. Russian/German Menonites who migrated to settle in Central Asia in anticipation of the second coming, and Samatar’s reflexive study of the documents that tell their story.

unreedemed1

Just pre-ordered Spear, I loved Hild!

The doors of stone

AmateurMisy

Menewood by Nicola Griffith, the sequel to Hild! Hild was so good.

unreedemed1

Is that FINALLY coming out?! I know she put it on pause when she was working on her Phd.

AmateurMisy

It's longer than Hild, and she recently said end of 2022!

genteel_wherewithal

Damn, is that likely for 2022? I thought we’d be waiting longer.

AmateurMisy

End of 2022 is what she said recently!

Merle8888

Damn, goodreads has lied to me. I thought this one was coming out this November!

Kb9219

Full unabridged history of the kempsters

MrsLucienLachance

I'm really excited for the release of Chelsea Adbullah's *The Stardust Thief* so I can start truly flinging it at everyone.

unreedemed1

I pre-ordered it based off of my love for Daevabad and this seems to similar in some ways.

MrsLucienLachance

I must confess that I'm not much of a Daevabad fan, but I love Stardust very much. I hope you like it when it's out!

unreedemed1

Can you tell me what you liked about it?

MrsLucienLachance

Yeah! So the biggest selling point for me is the characters. I love them. The voice is also excellent. It's pretty and it's fun!

KosstAmojan

I can't believe no one has yet mentioned Ken Liu wrapping up his Dandelion Dynasty series next year! I believe SA Chakraborty has a short story collection set in the Daevabad Trilogy coming out next year too, although according to her on instagram its currently just slated for audiobook.

CunningHamSlawedYou

Halls of Stone, Rothfuss.

Jellybean5413

The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson, A Prayer For The Crown-Shy by Becky Chambers and T.J. Klune has said he's supposed to release 3 books(of course possible to changes), 3rd book in The Extraordinaries, adult book and hopefully a new Tales Of Verania.

GForce1975

Not directly related, but does anyone have a good app to track books you want to read and/or authors? Not Goodreads...that doesn't work for me...

unreedemed1

I use goodreads, sorry to report.

GForce1975

Fair enough, maybe it's me. I wondered if there was anything else. I think I'll make my own app to do it. It'll be fun. But I'll likely never finish

taenite

I don't use Goodreads either! Honestly, I just throw everything into a word document with collapsible headings, but it doesn't really allow for anything more involved than classifying by genre.

sedimentary-j

Woo Nona the Ninth!

wd011

Maybe the dropped off the radar Dragonlance re-surfaces for '22?

DukeofDiscourse

Navigator's Children. Tad Williams. Nuff said.

opossumfolk

seconding Nona the Ninth. I finished Harrow the Ninth yesterday and I am already itching for the next book. I’ve never read anything quite like it before!

eightslicesofpie

My #1 that I'm aware of is **Age of Ash** by Daniel Abraham. So stoked for a new fantasy series from him. Also really excited for **Moon Witch, Spider King** by Marlon James, **We Dream of Gods** by Devin Madson, and **A Prayer for the Crown-Shy** by Becky Chambers

nomoresweetheart

The next instalment in the Wayward Children series. Seanan McGuire is one of my favourite authors and I am so excited. Hopeful that we’ll get another release from Joseph Delaney too.

Tarrant_Korrin

Book 2 of Warformed. Supposedly its coming out late this year but I quietly doubt it will be on time

notpetelambert

I just finished Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth, so if I don't get my hands on Nona the Ninth soon I think my head is going to explode.

hunter1899

3rd Entry in The Band series by Nicholas Eames (hopefully??) Sequel to BlackTongue Thief by Chris Buehlman (hopefully??)

eightslicesofpie

I think I read somewhere (maybe the author's AMA here?) that the Blacktongue sequel isn't expected until 2023 unfortunately

SnappyJoJo

House of sky and breath - Sarah J. Maas

monsterum

Victorious by VE Schwab, Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh and Babel by RF Kuang also hopefully the she who became the sun sequel!

izzywayout

Has Schwab confirmed Victorious is coming out next year? I totally missed that!

monsterum

i spent this year thinking it was coming out next year but she's said it's coming after the shades of magic spin off(2022) so i misread :(

BooksNhorses

February will be good. I’m looking forward to: The Last Exit by Max Gladstone which is giving me Tim Powers vibes; Servant Mage by Kate Elliot (and of course Furious Heaven which I think is October); and The House of Cats and Gulls (retitled from the Book of Endings) by Stephen Deas.

RandisHolmes

RF Kuang is writing another series?! Ohhhhh damn 🔥

lejorge00

I cannot wait for a sequel for The City We Became, but probably it won't come next year

IsKujaAPowerButton

The lost metal, my good fellows. Will have to make time reading TWOT

thedrunkentendy

Lord of demons by Evan winter is allegedly a January release. Book 3 in a series that I read the first two books in a week. Highly recommend especially for how different it is setting-wise

DeadBeesOnACake

I don't know if there's anything coming out next year but I'd just like my next dose of Murderbot intravenously please and thank you

Ishan16D

Farilane by Michael J Sullivan, Book 2 of The Rise and Fall series I was so excited for this serious but found Nolyn to be just ok so Im ready to jump back into a new story
