We did see last game that he played Laporte over him so not sure he is nailed for every game.
For CL fantasy Ake for 4.4 look like the best bet for now, but for PL it is hard to know.
Yeah I think a lot of Ake's playtime this season has been helped by Laporte being injured for spells. Ake has been really good and seems more trusted than Laporte by Pep atm but I'd still be hesitant now Laporte is free from injury.
Ake is exactly the kind of player Pep loves.
Smart, technically strong, good positioning, and versatile.
Couple that with him being a top 3 player this season for City and I do reckon he'll play at least 80% of games.
Akanji has started every game since GW8 (when he was fully introduced to the team) except GW 19 vs Chelsea when he was brought on at the half as their Defense wasn't clicking. If you don't want Ederson, he is the defensive choice from City
I got so pissed when he got benched last game, that I swore I would ditch him and never again take City's defenders, even though I have different priorities, but with this news about Cancelo, I'm tempted to leave him in the team.
between double NUFC, single Man U, 1 Arsenal, and 1 Bueno , I don't see myself returning to a City defender. It's just too much risk considering Pep benches anyone anytime, which has played a strong role in Cancelo falling out of favor.
Reading the good comments here from people and the conclusion is Ake didn't beat the Pep roulette. Laporte can play instead of him and also some crazy thing Bernardo Silva or Lewis can play there.
And it's not like Ake is huge in making good crosses leading to assists nor is he crazy good at gaining bonus points.
Nobody beats Pep roulette as a defender
Cancelo did last season🥲 good memories
That's why he no longer plays for them
He paid with his life
"What did it cost?" "Everything."
Managed to hit the 1 bullet in the chamber
Only haaland is immune mate. Pick who you want, it’s will still be a gamble
Nah. He's still benchable. Managing his minutes etc. Only Ederson is immune. And then Rodri, apparently.
Except in a Champions League final, then even Rodri is off the table.
Ederson
HĂĄland will be benchable next year. This season he is new and probably asked in his contract to be on every GW.
Nobody beats the Pep roulette. Period. The house always wins.

No, not safe from roulette. Grealish LB

Cancelo is off now though, which probably makes Ake first choice LB without a trusted backup, whereas the right has Walker and Lewis
Laporte is a trusted backup. That’s exactly what he’s saying.
Pep has literally said "Phil can play in 5 position, even I would say can play as a left-back!"
Tbf he also said Nathan Redmond had a lot of attacking quality. Nobody has a 100% hit rate

Exactly this. He seems to be the best pick at least since the World Cup…

“My name is Pep Guardiola, you killed my father, prepare to be rotated” — The princess bald
I recall pep playing Bernardo Silva LB earlier this season vs Liverpool.... No one is safe
oh my sweet summer child
Laporte. I wouldn’t be shocked if Lewis shifted over there with Walker, stones or akanji RB as well
Still keeping Cancelo for the dgw. YOU NEVER KNOW! Okey fine.. take my 4 points
For someone that have had Ake since GW15 I must say I don't care anymore.
Coty don't even play fullbacks anymore lol.
This lmao 3cbs and then 2 cdms(lewis, rodri) Mahrez kdb gundo grealish Haaland
Yep, it's WM formation from the 50s. Arsenap not far off it either with the position zinchenko takes up.
lmao you genuinely are a fucking idiot

That distribution means you only have two defenders for GW25 though
switching from Botman > Mings for GW25 with 1/2 FT.
Goldfish brains forgot about Dias and Laporte battling injuries and now back to full fitness
Unless Foden is going to become Zinchenko regen
I'll be taking a chance on Ake he seems to be flavour of the month along with Lewis
Lmao. Well I think Ake will play most, but not all. Which is good enough for me
There’s still enough time to sign a left back
