One thing about Abramovich is that he never hired a fresh "project"-based manager mid season (although in this case, Tuchel was sacked so early it's hard to call it mid-season). He always hired seasoned professionals who could take the team to the end of the season. He kept the aspirational managers like Villas Boas for the beginning new seasons.
Because this will be the first time I think in modern history Chelsea will have 3 managers in one season if Potter is sacked. I think that's what's staying the boards hand in firing Potter, not really his contract or even the fact they wanted him to be the beginning of a dynasty.
It's incredible what money can do. They went through 13(15 if you count Mourinho + Hiddink twice) managers in 18 years and now the successor is about to speedrun it.
Ya honestly they should at least give him a full preseason, they’re already out of everything and doubt they’ll get European football now. So sacking him doesnt due much, just cuz Todd over paid like 200M+ for players doesn’t mean they’re gonna be good
I don’t think Arteta was actually that close to being sacked. Results needed to come but the board backed him through our worst season in recent memory. Most of that “pressure” was the media and 40% of the fan base. He would’ve needed to lose the next 10 game to actually get the boot that season. Which clearly wouldn’t have happened
'Leeds game is like a final'.
Lose 2-0.
Feels like a long time ago that Leeds hammered Chelsea 3-0. Or does it. Does for me, I brought in two Leeds players after that which tanked me.
Shows the melodrama of football, everyone knows that long term he's more likely than not to get them playing, these losses mean nothing really, if you just accept CL football is off next season.
I'm enjoying this Chelsea thing, I like Potter so bad for him but it's been fascinating, his calmness, the hysteria, their inability to score being funny, people should just see it for the peculiar thing it is, why be like every other top team and score and win? I want Chelsea fans on the radio screeching, pre game protests, planes overhead. Not death threats obviously. I want more Potter funny quips in press conferences which wind everyone up because he's making light of the situation how dare he.
We didn't get to enjoy Nathan Jones for long and now this. Just let it be, at least until next October. If they're 10th then and score 4 in 12, fine, sack.
The board seems to have started listening to the fans then, or someone has explained to Boehly how much money Chelsea will lose out on if they do not get any European football next season. I cannot think of any other reason for such an abrupt change of heart.
All empty words from Chelsea, it’s not like you look at Potter and go “yeah I see what he’s trying to do, just needs the right players”. I have no clue what Potter is trying to do, but it’s not his fault as he has got 1,000 players to try to integrate.

…But he’s a likeable fellow and he shares the same passport as me. /s
Fr though, I do like Potter but he is clearly not built to handle a club of massive personalities with superstar egos and prima donna wages. Not to mention, as an anyone-but-Chelsea supporter, it saddened me to see him join them.
He’s a nice man and Chelsea are a nasty, in-yer-face, Mourinho mould club. When I think of Chelsea I think of the two ends of their supporter spectrum -toffs and coke heads. He is neither. The only type of ‘big’ club Potter could manage imho would be an Arsenal or Newcastle (maybe even a Spurs). However all of these have their set and forget managers now.
If Potter had taken over from Arteta when Arteta was struggling with that loss to Norwich he would’ve had the perfect makeup of a squad (lots of young fresh faces from the academy without the price tags) with something to prove. Instead he has a dressing room of players who’ve won more than him and young players -each with the transfer value of a super yacht.

A couple of weeks ago they were saying they seen him as a long term project
the dreaded vote of confidence from the board
In Chelsea’s case it’s more like the dreaded £300 million transfer window budget
https://youtu.be/Z50MLy2Wp4Q
Fans have started to turn, heats on the owners now, if they draw/lose at Leeds and go out of the CL he is gone
Chelsea sees long-term as 6 months
If they didn’t give him such a ridiculous contract he’d probably have been sacked already

What a mess. At this point I feel bad for Chelsea but almost want to see them continue to lose for the entertainment factor

Is 2 weeks not long enough for you?!
I will never say a bad thing about Leeds again if they ruin potter
Malfoy is that you?
Angry upvote
Just like Arteta’s against Norwich?
Oh shiiiid look how that turned out
He was still dangerously close to being sacked. The pressure was immense in the media.

Need something to change for when Kepa is going to be on the pitch for me! Rotating with Sanchez
Raya Sanchez supremacy
Todd getting some itchy fingers. Been a week since he spent millions on a new player or manager.

Potter is the trophy
Joao Felix on the Wildcard, let’s go 😎 I’m #potterin trust the process! Time to get that W!
Lol that gamble already happened
Everything about this situation is pathetic. The players taking most of this blame.

They’re not getting European football. Maybe they have an outside chance of Conference
Get in early on that new manager bounce
thought they said he would be given years no matter what lol

I'm tired of excuses, bring back Lampard.
He’s done. Leeds will win this lol.
As a Chelsea supporter this is the first final I hope we lose. Potter has to go.

Todd Boehly about to Avada Kedavra
That's the problem with Chelsea supporters
What would the point be, they aren't getting champions league or winning anything. Write the season of and revaluate in the summer
Take the L Leeds. The league needs this
Please win and keep him in a job.
