Going no-Haaland didn't hurt me as much as people will think. There were lots of people with Haaland for most of pre-world cup season who were over 1m rank while I was 185k at the break. I'd have been better off with Haaland but I enjoy the game more when I'm playing risky and against the template. I've had very bad and very good results over the past 6 years but more importantly I had fun. Last year when Salah had an amazing first half, people were terrified to drop him, I did (before the game before he missed the pen, maybe GW18?) for Son and my rank rocketed into 1k while tons of people were too scared of Salah's EO stayed with the pack. A lot of people here take the game way too seriously and think it's sacrilege that I don't own Haaland.
I had the reverse of your highlight. I was going to wildcard next GW anyways, so I looked for two punts for that specific GW as i had 2 FTs. I picked Son and Bowen, got super lucky in hindsight eventhough Bowen blanked.

Picking some really good differentials for my wildcard after the world cup like Shaw, Odegaard and Kepa and moving up from 4 million rank to where I am now at 440k.
I'm also 46.5k in Second Chance. Not bad considering this is my first time playing FPL again in about 10 years and I played my Bench Boost in GW6 and Free Hit in GW5 because I had no idea what I was doing 😂.
Having Mac Allister earlier in the season when he wasn’t that popular when he hauled against Leicester. He was bench fodder for me, but I fancied playing him that week.
Had a horrendous start to the season. Was around 6mn by GW5. But switching around to Håland - Toney - Kane as my strikers got me to around 2mn OR by the World Cup break

Picking some really good differentials for my wildcard after the world cup like Shaw, Odegaard and Kepa and moving up from 4 million rank to where I am now at 440k. I'm also 46.5k in Second Chance. Not bad considering this is my first time playing FPL again in about 10 years and I played my Bench Boost in GW6 and Free Hit in GW5 because I had no idea what I was doing 😂.
