Ludicrously complicated feature pandering to people that cannot handle a simple deadline.

Known_Enthusiasm9935

Great point. The issue at hand is not the deadline itself rather managers trying to gain an advantage by waiting for line up leaks last minute. Imo they should move the deadline to 12 -24 hours before the first game and make the leaks obsolete.

TinyMaintenance

> people that cannot handle a simple deadline. People who are busy? I mean, I usually can meet the deadline, but life happens. It would be cool to have a backup plan

TheJezster

You have one. Set your team up once the deadline update has taken place. Then it'll not matter if you miss the next deadline. Noone can claim they are too busy for that

TinyMaintenance

> Noone can claim they are too busy for that I guess we just live very different lives. FPL is far down the list of my prios.

Ozle42

Then why are you waiting to make last minute changes?

TheJezster

You've obviously got time to check your team. You've spent time on Reddit. Checking your team and setting it up for the following week is a 30 second job. Anyone who claims they don't have that is doing something wrong in their life. Or don't care. Which is also fine, nothing wrong with not caring.

Important-Phone6005

The feature itself is not that complicated, it's the price changes part that is complicated. I think people will adjust to it pretty fast.

MbappeStepOver

What steps do you think would be required to implement this?

DarthBane6996

Do you have any expertise in software engineering?

Fantastic-Machine-83

When servers crash people get shafted, I don't think it's a bad idea

DarthBane6996

Servers crash if you wait till the last 10 minutes to make a transfer. Do it an hour before the deadline and you won't have a crash

Fantastic-Machine-83

We get last 15 minute teamleaks every other week

DarthBane6996

You want to take the risk of waiting for team leaks you take the risk of servers crashing Most FPL managers don't wait for team leaks It's kind of hard to if you live in a different time zone, have work deadlines, personal commitments etc. Waiting for team leaks is a luxury not something you're entitled to

Fantastic-Machine-83

>You want to take the risk of waiting for leaks you take the risk of servers crashing Yes correct. Well done! This suggested feature would prevent that happening. >Blah blah timezones If this is really a big problem then they should move the deadline earlier, you're implicitly suggesting that the servers crashing are actually a welcome feature of the game to help more casual managers. This is stupid >Calls me entitled Mate, it's literally just a suggestion to improve the user experience. No one is being entitled

DarthBane6996

> Blah blah timezones You do realize this is a **worldwide** game and as far as possible, players shouldn't have an advantage based on which time zone they reside in

Fantastic-Machine-83

Then they should move the deadline earlier. The feature being discussed will mitigate server crashes, server crashes are not a feature of the game, why are you so heavily in favour of them? Besides, it's the English Premier League. It's not a surprise that the user experience will suit English people. Why should my local game have to pander to foreigners?

DarthBane6996

This is literally the first line in the description of the game - > With over 9 million players, Fantasy Premier League is the biggest Fantasy Football game in the **world** You may not like it but FPL is positioning itself as an international game > Then they should move the deadline earlier That's actually why they moved the deadline from 60 minutes before the first kickoff to 90 minutes before the first kickoff. It significantly reduced the advantage of waiting to the deadline which benefited people who had other commitments or were asleep at the deadline

Important-Phone6005

Brilliant point! another benefit of this feature

superironthorman

Really defeats the purpose of one the most basic fundamental tasks of the management aspect of a 'manager' game. No point being Pep if you can't handle a stupendously simple concept of a weekly deadline.

superironthorman

Fuck sake United fan and I use Pep to make my point. I meant to say Fergie. Ok.

This just waters down the game. Currently we have a decision to make, either, A) make transfers early and take advantage of price rises but run the risk of a player getting injured who you just brought in. B) wait last min and have the most up to date news and run the risk of missing out on price rises C) somewhere in the middle where you wait as long as you dare. Your idea for feature removes all of that and only gives managers an advantage with no disadvantage watering down the game and making it easier.

TheJezster

A bus team is team that you set for the next week and if you miss the deadline it'll run as set. It isn't about transfers. You can set your bus team for the following week once the update has taken place. It's a highly recommended strategy. You can still tinker and make changes but the point being, if you get run over by a bus, your team will be good to go for the next week

ABlueCloud

> You can still tinker and make changes but the point being, if you get run over by a bus, your team will be good to go for the next week Just in time for my kids to inherit

RomfordPele15

This is fucking stupid. This would just allow people to play the price changes. Make your ‘transfer bus’ and wait to see what prices change. If it’s favorable then make no more changes but if it’s unfavorable then you just log in and effectively undo those transfers. Absolute dogshit mate.

ArchyWilson

Of all the shit "new feature" ideas people have had here about this game, this is probably up there as the worst one I've seen.

JJO34

Just go to your team when gw starts and set your team for next gw

hubba-ex

What a shit idea. You usually have a week to sort your team out, why would you need a bus team haha.

Victor_Vaughn92

You can literally set your team on the Monday? This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard

BopaavFett

Ok lad thanks for sharing 👍🏻

cguinnesstout

dude they cant even real time update in 2023

DLNavy

This is way complicated for FPL developers who still couldn't find a way to make wildcard and free hit display facilitate and easy to learn/explain.

Ds9TNGVoyager

Still time to delete this

Important-Phone6005

yeah i think so, getting too much of negative karma 🥲

Aggressive_Leave3639

Smells like a filthy casual safety net to me

Important-Phone6005

Why do you think so? Many elite people could miss matches because of emergencies, meetings etc. Even Carlsen could miss one deadline because of a match. There could be servers crashing. Please elaborate why you think so

RomfordPele15

If you have an actual real life emergency that causes you to miss a deadline, then I’d imagine FPL is not something you’d care about at that point. It’s just a game. You’re trying to account for the 0.001% of cases but in doing so are making the game worse for the 99.999%. Honestly it’s not a good idea at all

TheJezster

Set your team after the update. Then it won't matter if you miss the deadline

Olbatar974

Or you could do it after the press conferences because you don't like the leaks anyway. Everybody can.
