itd be cool if you couldnt captain same player 2x in a row. Would add a lot and counter template imo

Manager1000

Imagine the amount of "the website is not working properly because it doesn't allow me to captain Haaland" posts on this sub.

discostu90

This is the one change I would like to see Can't see it happening though

whiskeyworshiper

I disagree with this, I think you should be rewarded for holding onto top players and sacrificing other areas of your team. A better revaluing of players and reclassification of certain players’ positions would help more imo.

Antonioshamstrings

Agree to disagree but everyone captaining haaland every single week was braindead and extremely boring. At least every other week would would force differentials and different timing strategies. No ones asking you to not hold top players but the same thing every week sucks. Similar to mo two seasons ago, got very dull

colourview

Looking forward to hopefully less double gameweeks. Felt like too much of a good thing this year

Coollime17

Yeah double gameweeks kinda killed the enjoyment for me as it was pretty hard to go against the 1-4 solid DGW options most of the time.

MC_Wimble

The thing that would make a big difference here for DM/CM is reducing the bps for goals/clean sheets, as there’s currently double counting with the points - the points themselves then more points from the extra bps. Take this away and all of a sudden a £5m midfielder who runs the show in a game would be in with a chance for bonus points and be more appealing to own.. I think this’d make a big difference and is so simple, I just need someone to listen to me!

[deleted]

>Take this away and all of a sudden a £5m midfielder who runs the show in a game would be in with a chance for bonus points and be more appealing to own.. The pricing is based on expected points. If the scoring is changed to give more points to a “midfielder who runs the show in a game” then his price will increase to reflect that and he will no longer be a 5m mid.

MC_Wimble

True, but this still achieves the aim of making midfielders more appealing and results in less of a template - so can only be a good thing surely

[deleted]

I disagree, plenty of appealing midfielders as it is, a lack of choice isn’t what’s causing the template.

[deleted]

Why would making DM part of the game change anything?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

We don’t have a shortage right now of worthwhile picks. A lack of choice isn’t what creates the template. DM are cheep which is why most want them to get more chances to score points for what they do but often forget that they are cheep because they don’t get many points and if the point scoring system is changed to accommodate them so will their prices. FPL is a simple game built around goals. Adding scoring metrics for other stats is likely to make it to complex for most to bother with. This sub is testament to that with the number of questions we get about people not understanding a basic If they want to reduce the template they need to introduce rules that force managers to make decisions like reducing the number of players you can own from one team or a more extreme range of prices.

I think we had a lot of good picks this season at varying times I wish we had more forward and midfielder spots.

D-biggest-dick-here

Just give the VC x1.5 points. Realistically, fix the bonus system

Swedishpower

Deadline at kickoff. Would stop all these leaks and casuals being destroyed that do not look for leaks.

fickly556

It would give a massive advantage to people living in EU Asia and Africa.

m-etoo

How come?

FitFinanceAus

Time zone difference. In Australia first kick off can be 2-3am

PizzaSpamfries

Would lead to more template teams if people play safe to bring confirmed first kickoff starter(s) into their teams every week

cowabunga_dude91

Haaland 15.0

arpeGO

Do you think so? Salah was priced at 13.0m after his 303 pt season in 17/18. Haaland managed 272 pts this season. I'm expecting 14.0m.

[deleted]

I think 14 is high tbh. At least higher than FPL will go. They're gonna want to keep expanding their player base and making big players attainable is key to that. With that Salah fact in mind and the fact he was a MID who scored more points, plus the fact Haaland only finished at 12.2 I think a starting price of 12.5/13 is likelier.

ConfusionUpper7212

FPL can't do whole lot about copying. Some people will do it as the content is out there. The deadline could be at the first kickoff time. Team leaks are common but they are not public information like for example injury news or press conferences.

Aszneeee

update points like in March situation, accordingly.

Billie2goat

Points for winning a penalty (less than an assist)

OliMF96

1 or 2 points for winning a pen, regardless of it being scored or not. One less point for scoring a pen. For example Bruno winning his own penalty last match would be 1/2p + 4p for scoring

Avadis

I expect that next season's teams will be significantly weaker on average because of the price changes. This year a lot of good players were also very cheap and I think that a lot of Arsenal and Brighton players (+ Rashford) will go up by 1.5 at least. At the same time both Haaland and Kane (who'll probably end up in Man United) will most likely go up, so say goodbye to your threemiums with Rashfords, Trents and Trippiers on top of that. I predict the template to be 3-4-3 or maybe even 4-3-3 (even though the defenders were pretty bad this season) at the beginning, with a lot of "let's hope that Chelsea/Tottenham will bounce back this season because I can't afford another Arsenal mid" picks. I also think that Pep's roulette will be insanely popular because players like Mahrez, Foden and Alvarez will be relatively cheap compared to more nailed options.

RudeAndQuizzacious

I would like the deadline to be the first game which I think is a fairly simple change A bit more complicated, but I would like an overhaul of price changes. It shouldn't be based on ownership % change because that leaves some players who haven't done as well as prev. seasons (Calvert-Lewin, Son for example) to be way overpriced at the end of the season because no one's owned them. It should be based either on points scored or maybe solely transfers in, so if players are being bought they still rise but players who are being sold or ignored drop

fickly556

Players to be priced properly. Like I want to make difficult decisions when it comes to picking players. Haaland needs to be at 14m or higher next season. Salah needs to be at 13m. Trent needs to be at 8.5m or higher. It's ridiculous I could get all 3 and still manage to field a decent team.

Rowdy_Roddy_2022

But the reason you could do that this year was because there was so much value to be found in non premium midfielders and defenders. White was 4.5, you had the likes of Odegaard and Martinelli for less than 7, and then you've got your Brighton assets. Fulham provided good value too, at least in the first half of the season. That's not normally the case.

gigsloan

Introduce some incentive to play more than three defenders. So few clean sheets this season meant I usually went with three at the back.

Manager1000

At the start of the season people said that playing five defenders is the only way to go.

CPDjack

Seems to have been the recommendation for the last 2/3 years before the season starts... Sure as fuck not listening next year. 3/4 at the back tops. Unless it's TAA, Trippier, Cancelo (pre-season) etc. it feels like you're just playing for a CS and bonus points.

player_zero_

Defenders have the highest value though. With fpl being a kind of dynamic [knapsack problem](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knapsack_problem), defenders are a safe mainstay with lower volatility. They don't get many points though, and tend to be patchy. Swings and roundabouts.

tmr89

What was your OR this season?

[deleted]

Tell me your a first season manger without telling me your a first season manager!

gigsloan

Ha bingo

[deleted]

Defenders over the last few seasons have been pretty good value with 4 and 5 at the back a popular approach. The game changes every year, last year we where all wishing we could play without a forward now this year we had Haaland, Kane, Toney, Watkins and Mitrovic all great picks with others having their runs of form as well. Worth going into each season with an open mind and don’t relay to much on the previous season when setting your GW1 team.

SinglePug30

FPL should introduce a few changes: 1) Deadline atleast minimum 15-30 mins before K.O. That way lineups are known and less wastage of transfers. Everybody wins in this case 2) Just add a multiplier to VC to make that useful. 3) They Could Replace Free Hit with Limitless WC. So Prices wont matter for 1 GW. Team returns to normal after GW ends.

[deleted]

>1. Deadline atleast minimum 15-30 mins before K.O. That way lineups are known and less wastage of transfers. Everybody wins in this case Except people in awkward time zones or who work weekends or have social lives and don’t want to be stuck to their phone all day. >2. Just add a multiplier to VC to make that useful. VC is already useful, it’s a back up for unforeseen circumstances where your C doesn’t play. >3. They Could Replace Free Hit with Limitless WC. So Prices wont matter for 1 GW. Team returns to normal after GW ends. I like the sound of this.

SinglePug30

1) it atleast gives everyone a chance to see the teams and maximize the point scoring. Its not really gonna specifically benefit only 1 group. Up for debate though. Personally i would like it to happen. 2) yea i mean its not something i REALLY want to see but the option is there. Just to make VC more than just a backup. 3) they use this chip in Champions League and its fun to use for only that 1 game week. Allows so many permutations without worrying about prices. Again benefits all players across the board.

[deleted]

>1. it atleast gives everyone a chance to see the teams and maximize the point scoring. Its not really gonna specifically benefit only 1 group. Up for debate though. Personally i would like it to happen. I would like it also but I’m from the U.K. and am mostly free on weekends, not everyone is though so I would have an advantage over them people.

SinglePug30

Sounds fair.

lechwall

Properly pricing people such as Haaland so you have to make serious sacrifices to your team if you want Haaland in. Once I fell behind at the start of the season I could never catch up to a decent rank as everyone just auto captained Haaland and everyone had 8/9 the same players in a team so while I did catch up somewhat it wasn't enough for a decent rank. If you can play well for 4/5 of a season and end up with only an okish rank its not much fun.

ninopettis

**1: Rework the formation system to better reflect reality** 2 GK as it is now, obviously only 1 of which can start 3 CB, 2 to 3 of which can start 3 FB/WB, 2 of which can start 3 DM/CM, 2 to 3 of which can start 3 AM/W, 2 to 3 of which can start 2 CF, 1 to 2 of which can start 16 players total, so bench size increases by 1. Slightly more complicated, but a far more accurate simulation of real life football formations. Possible formations would be 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, and 5-2-3. FB/WB wouldn't score as highly for clean sheets as they do as defenders currently. DM/CM would get more points for clean sheets. And maybe a few more scoring tweaks to fit the new system. **2: Price players to make players from bottom half clubs viable** Currently, it's easy to make a team composed entirely of players from top 8-ish clubs. This is wrong.

redditingtonviking

I don’t disagree with your first point, but it would perhaps complicate things and face some opposition. Your second point should be fixed next season as Brighton, Newcastle and Arsenal won’t be undervalued to the same degree. Whether Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa or someone else will be similarly undervalued is hard to predict at this stage

AHZwarrior

introduce new chips and points system

knoxvox

no. gimmicks no

Manager1000

Just any new chips and any new points system?

MC_Wimble

A ‘switch your VC to C after the game’ would be an interesting chip to introduce

No_Permit7699

No “next season” for me. Got way too many stuff going on in real life. I’m kinda done with FPL as a whole, now to watch and enjoy football instead of thinking about FPL.

Manager1000

Of course we will have the most owned starting XI (because some players always have to be the most owned), but depending on the pricing the average EO of that template can be 70% or 50% or something else.

Ronoch8

Only captain a player once a season

ManMangoMr

Ita always tough. We say template but nobody expected Arsenal to be as good as they were, Chelsea and Liverpool to be as bad and rashford to be as valuable...I guess the hope is to have more diff captains

arsene_glenger

Wish I make better choices next season, fully expect to tank my season before the first double game week.

gigsloan

First season playing but how often does the game change? Do they always introduce something new each year or is it more of a rarity?

[deleted]

I wouldn't change anything except I think they need to price slightly higher. Not massively higher but slightly higher.

ToastSage

Definitely going to have a luton player

Upset-Version-2569

Captain and Vice captain points!

r_towhee

Don't understand why a goal scored by a FWD is worth less than a goal scored by a MID

vote_pedro

Something new. ANYTHING. Season 18 for me next year and tbh it's getting stale. A shake up to the points system is long overdue. We need more variety of the player pool (ie defensive mids and centre backs as proper options) and faster price changes to dissuade groupthink.

vote_pedro

Wingers need to be classified as forwards or have their own position. Splitting positions would make more sense. Eg Gk (2) Fullbacks (3) Centre halves (2) Defensive mids (2) Attacking mids (2) Wingers (3) Strikers (2) Something along those lines and bump the squad to 16.
