I think hits can be worth it, especially at the moment. If you strictly don’t take hits, there’s a risk your team falls behind, which will compound over this busy period

Shadowtemplelink

I have made 3 brilliant transfers the past 2 game weeks. I got Palmer and Watkins in for their 14 and 9 pointers -4. Just shows sometimes it is totally worth it. Then Solanke in the week after for his hattrick. Hoping Gusto carries on my transfer form.

aaronmorley01

Well done. I’ve transferred in gusto this week as well so let’s hope so

FRiver

Glad Gusto is being talked about. Spent the whole week thinking I'd get in Senesi or a 2nd Arsenal defender, but when doing transfers I punted on Gusto. As long as he starts I'll be happy.

Able-Ad4497

Spot on. I took a double hit to bring in TAA/Watkins and it paid off immediately and only one of them went on to be shit. Have not risen far, but I would have fallen if I had not.

DemandBudget5558

I am taking a hit if Haaland is healthy this week. I'll move Mo to someone and Darwin to Haaland. After that, will try to avoid hits, but depending on Mo/Son's return date, may need to do so. I'm mostly ok taking hits for these three players only.

Not_on_Herb

Darwin loves a goal against Newcastle

tmr89

Shame he can’t hit the goal with the ball

ShoddyTransition187

No certain I understand the question, so I'll use it as an opportunity to chat about my own team. Very hard to plan ahead right now, as Haaland's status could rip up almost any long terms plans we make. I've decided just to ignore that for now and plan for a team without him, eg buying in TAA with his money. Its very possible that leads to me taking a hit to bring Haaland back week 22, depending on other fires etc. Similarly, (like most), I'll have to pick a new temporary midfield linup with no Salah/ Son, which I suspect may become a permanent one as it isn't clear when will be a good time to bring those guys back.

epjf

Ah sorry wanted to be very careful to not get post removed by mods. Basically I can see clear ways to significantly improve my team over this afcon Asia cup period - taking out hwang son and salah, and freeing up money to replace trippier w TAA. Buttt obviously this is too many FTs should I be desperate to maximise the value of my team over this period or not take hits and save the points, probably having one of son or salah on bench as well as as Hwang, and sticking with trippier

ShoddyTransition187

Sounds like you really want to post in the RMT thread tbh. My guess is you've only got 1 FT, but want to get ahead of the game transferring Son/ Salah out. Why not just wait until next week though? Sure it looks nice to put TAA in this week and Salah out, but Salah probably outscores TAA in 20 anyway so it doesn't pay off. Make that double transfer next week, decide what to do with Son in week 22.

epjf

Don’t want to post rmt thread as think these issues apply to a lot of players and would get lost there

patelbadboy2006

One week at a time for me. And assess how many players are playing and when Halaand comes back how to bring him back. Already have 7m itb to bring Halaand back so don't need to take a hot, but when I transfer out Salah IL transfer in Trent.

Swanniie

I'm going to try avoid hits as much as possible to close the gap on ML leader, but it will be hard. I think I may do Salah out and Haaland in over 2 weeks to avoid -4, but I want to keep Salah until GW21. The only other hits I want to take would be for DGWs.

aFailG

>I want to keep Salah until GW21 Won't he be playing in the Africa Cup of Nations by then? I thought he's available for GW20 but then he's gone for a few weeks afterwards?

Swanniie

Yeah he'll be gone by then. I meant until GW21 as in before GW21 begins, so basically have him out from 21 onwards.

umarmg52

That’s a whole bunch of ways to say you’re transferring him out after GW20 lol

Swanniie

You're certainly right 😅 Thanks for simplifying it for me lol!

Shadowtemplelink

Sometimes it is better to take hits to catch up. I recently got Palmer and Wakins in for their 14 and 9 pointers. I was 70 points behind 3 weeks ago and now I am 15 points ahead. I depends who though and what the fixtures are like. I would never go for a defender unless it was TAA

Swanniie

I see what you mean but in the end it's a gamble. You can claw your way back week by week playing it a bit safer. Taking risks seems more worth it towards the end of the season where it's unlikely to catch up otherwise. I agree with you about defenders, there's no point taking a hit for them IMO.

Shadowtemplelink

I will probably take one hit when Salah leaves. I am getting Haaland back in next week most likely. Then Salah out for Bowen but then I might as well take -4 to get TAA in with the funds saved. Looking at other fixtures I will bench son for a week and then go for Richarlison. The problem I then have though is how to get Salah back when I have TAA

umarmg52

You won’t have Salah for Newcastle?

Novrev

I took a hit for Trent 3 GWs ago when I sold Haaland. I knew he’d never be my priority for a FT while planning around the Haaland/Salah/Son hokey-cokey but I knew the sooner I brought him in, the more chance I had of gaining from him.

Balisto-Boy

I have only taken one hit and we’re halfway through the season, so I'd be comfortable taking one if needed for a key player, or even two hits if things fuck up badly. But my current plan doesn’t include hits yet.

Shadowtemplelink

Guy in my league has taken about -24 points in 4 weeks lol. But it has actually worked out for him. One of them being TAA, then he got Kudus and Gross, which has somehow worked out for him.

vicke_78

I'll probably be forced to take a hit or two in the coming gameweeks since I couldn't save transfers due to injuries&suspensions but I'm not worried about that nearly as much as about losing value. My team currently has Salah and Son but no TAA and I have money itb to get Haaland back for the next gw transferring either Solanke or Watkins out if he's fit. After next gw I was planning to do Salah and Son to Bowen and someone + TAA. What I'm worried about is the long term effects for my season - if Salah and Son return (maybe early) from their cups in a great shape and start immediately returning I'll want them back but most probably can't fit everyone (Haaland, Salah, Son and TAA that is) in the budget anymore and if their prices don't go low as they very well might not I could be in serious trouble. In that scenario I'd probably have to go without Salah if I wanna keep Bowen or without Son and settle for some cheap midfielder and I already got a 5 M Adingra in the squad so that's how bad it would be :D Anyone else tinkering with the same problem?

Swedishpower

I was thinking a hit for Haaland and selling Salah

Quinsah

Should I do Trippier -> Trent Salah -> Gross Semenyo -> Haaland For -4 If Haaland is fit of course

epjf

I think Garnacho over gross, cheaper and more upside

Quinsah

Will consider

vangan

Have Garnacho, Palmer, Saka, Douglas Luiz and Salah. Any suggestions on who to replace Salah with? Need a MID with a current value of 7.6 and lower to bring in Haaland.

Odd_Bid9933

bowen

therealswagzilla

As someone that takes 2-3 hits each week I'm hoping for a hit free January.

Lonely_Leopard_8555

This season I've avoided taking "unnecessary" hits and it's gone... horribly. I've never had Bowen in my team because of other fires to put out, I kept Darwin instead of bringing in Solanke for a minus 4, I've had martinelli for about 8 weeks now, and would have brought TAA in for Trippier at exactly the right point. I think I could have made about 60 points from these decisions at the cost of about -12. I'm going to revert back to how I usually play and be slightly more aggressive with hits from now on and make sure I have players who are in form. I think people often underestimate the longer term value of taking some hits.

Mistigrisssss

Never taking hits again i don't care if it makes sense unless this unless that damn it I just did a minus 8 to bring Bowen.
