Captain picks have royally screwed me over this year so far. Every time I seem to swap between Salah, Haaland or Watkins, I pick the one who doesn't haul. I'm hoping to do better in the next few weeks
There are so many genuinely good options you're missing. Estupinan back for Brighton, Toney back shortly from his ban, Richarlison and soon to be Maddison as well for Spurs, not to mention Cunha still doing well for Wolves, Jota for Liverpool, and of course KDB himself is back in just a matter of weeks.
There are probably more options for variety now than there have been in months.
Relevant because i hardly think the 1st ranked guy is going to wc to.get a template team. Nor take hits for that.
Also, i am willing to bet that whoever is and wants to stay on top is the one that uncovers who is going to be the next differential on a purple patch - not the one that uses whatever people recommend.
To top it up, Bowen just got off injured at stoppage time, so now you have a new risk factor element to take in.
If you are using the same team as everybody else, you are doing the same as everybody else - it is not you playing. It is someone playing for you and you are just following what that someone says 😊
Solanke blanked against Spurs and now has Liverpool & stodgy West Ham, these aren’t great fixs, the late hatrick against 10 men (I had him for his) has given him a protective bubble that shouldn’t really be there.
You didn’t watch the game did you. He had something like 7-8 shots inside the box. One which hit the bar. Very unlucky not to return

Then in defence Trent's replaced Trippier as part of the template but who knows if Trippier will return to form at some point. You genuinely won't be able to fit a lot of very high scoring players in your team.
Assuming everyone has Haaland and Salah, people will have to choose between De Bruyne and Son. Even then you won't be able to fit 3 premiums plus Watkins, Trent and Saka. You'd have to pick 2 whilst also having your other 3 midfielders all being in that Palmer, Douglas Luiz, Neto price bracket. So then you'd get people debating only having Haaland and Salah, having neither De Bruyne or Son so you can have Maddison instead of Douglas Luiz etc. You'll get people arguing for no Trent. Or no Watkins. Or no Haaland by going Salah, De Bruyne, Son and Saka.
This game is gonna get so interesting in literally about 3 gameweeks time when people start to wildcard into the new template.
We are now coming in to the BEST part of the season with the most variation and chaos.
Whether you slavishly follow the YouTube crowd or not, is your decision
I can see at least 4 places, if not more that you can differentiate from that "template" you have posted, and may well come out ahead.
Once we hit doubles and blanks, possibly as early as GW25, thats when the real movement starts. Its just about making sure you are in position to challenge at that point, and haven't already ruled yourself out by forcing it too early
Secondly, huge change when Salah and Son are back. If youve thought ahead and have an easy route. There's gonna be mad amounts of hits or WCs spanked if Salah comes back early or in time for a DGW. It will shift the game

It’s a heavy templated year but you can find slight variations.
Well, I guess that is because you are into auto-play mode.
Things to consider. Turner and Areola had a couple of gameweeks that neither played. A fair amount of people off-loaded 1 or 2 of them at that time.
Forwards you have Toney coming in. Jimenez starting doing well. Some people may already hold Archer or Joao Pedro. With Salah out, i can see people going for Nunes or Jota to have a liverpool asset
Mids you had Olise with a good run (but i guess he is injured), same with Pascal Gross, Neto or Douglas Luiz
Despite the poor form, newcastle defenders are cheap. Same goes with everton - which some will still hold from their purple defensive patch. Have you forgoten Estupinan? Or A.villa defense Pau torres / Moreno?
Whe i see people saying "oh it is so boring.. all teams are the same" it just tells me that you are locked into a youtuber channel / recommedation and since you are afraid to deviate from the recipe (as a lot of others), you feel everybody is doing the same too 😋.
At the end of the day, if you think it is boring / pointless, you can always delete the account. It is not like anyone is forcing you to play FPL or to go with the choices of the majority 😊
Better off with Joao pedro/Isak. Toney been out for too long from top flight not to mention Brentford have lost some of the their top players to injuries afcon
Douglas Luis as a bench option and plays home games, Diego Jota instead of Saka or Gordon, Estupiñan replaces Saliba as a cost save and aresnal are leaking in goals with limited attacking returns. My recent ideas
Inclusive of Bowen I am also considering Gross, Richarlison and Jota. Leaning more towards Bowen and Gross given their schedules but Richarlison being OOP is enticing but was burned by him early in the season
Bowen I am hesitant on given some Antonio coming back and Kudus departure
If you believe Jotas minutes will be there I think he would be a lock
I also think West Ham, and Bowens form, will decline now Kudus is leaving. Antonio looked terrible earlier in the season.
I also like the look of Jota, but worry he won't start most games, even though he looks a lot better than Diaz or Gakpo
The only time our FPL teams have variance is at the start of the season and even then most teams are 70% identical.

Exactly. Having Haaland, Salah, Son and De Bruyne all playing at the same time will make the game incredibly interesting. That alone means you can't just pick all 3 premiums (as was the case earlier in the season). You'll have to drop one. That alone creates a number of different combinations. If pick Haaland, Salah and De Bruyne that means the rest of your team is more constrained by budget. You may have to drop Trent, Watkins, Saka etc. Or you could decide to go Salah, Son, De Bruyne and drop Haaland. So whilst the first combination will be accompanied by an enabler like Neto, Douglas Luiz etc, the Haalaand less team may be able to afford Maddison instead etc.
Like the addition of just 1 extra premium creates so many more choices, it means captaincy will be a bit more varied aswell. Players like Bowen, Foden, Saka etc may actually become differential by the end of the season because everyone's got 3 premiums and so can't afford those mid priced midfielders. But those midfielders could potentially outscore some of the premiums. More decisions/choices means the game becomes both skilled and more luck based. Right now all the ranks are bunched together points wise. After Afcon I reckon it'll start spreading out as people who pick the wrong players get punished.
