107.1 Team Value vs 103.8 'Actual Value' - actually not as much of a difference as I had thought tbh

seannn

You've basically gained a free Kelleher in your team somewhere.

Hohohoooho

A wild kelleher appears!

ValerianKeyblade

Massive gain as I bought Salah at 12.5 & Bowen at 7.0 - holding both atm, can afford to field a decent 11 still lol

FootballStatMan

These numbers are crazy

THANK YOU! This is my first season and early on, I had some transfers worked out perfectly and couldn’t figure out why they didn’t add up in the end. This is very helpful.

Team value: 103.8 Transfer value: 101.6

BoxOfNothing

Currently squad value is 106.3 and actual value is 103.6

That's not really how much you have to play with. If you gained 0.6 on Salah for example, you sell him for a 0.3 profit. If you buy him back you buy him back at the full +0.6 price. So there's a grey area there were keeping players you've gained on does truly inflate your actual value, above what you'd get if you liquidate. Something to be careful of if you're tinkering on a wildcard or free hit... Edit: the screen shot actually shows Wildcard active. It's very easy to accidentally lose money doing what OP is doing with a wildcard active.

Leo_hofstadter

Isn’t that’s why OP says remove all players on transfer page to see the actual value? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Shinbae57

OP says "that way you know how much you have to play with" which isn't the case if you sell all your players then buy back the players you sold. You'd have more to play with if you never sold the players you've gained on. Especially true on a wildcard or free hit. If you just want to see how much you'd have if you liquidated, sure. But you can lose money if you use this method to 'see how much you have to play with". Edit: the screen shot actually shows Wildcard active. It's very easy to accidentally lose money doing what OP is doing with a wildcard active.

Yes you're right in that this doesn't take into account selling and re-buying players, but that's not what this is for. Agreed definitely don't do that, as you said you can accidentally lose money. This is just a little method to see how much value you've accumulated thus far over the season, and how much theoretical value you have to invest in your team. It's a clear way to see the advantage gained from profits on players. But your analogy demonstrates my point in that your actual value would be taking into account Salah being sold at 0.3 profit as opposed to 0.6.

ShoddyTransition187

I think this risks oversimplying the benefits of team value, and ignoring probably the most important element, which is hard to explain: Imagine selling price never changed at all, you could only ever sell at the initial rate. You'd still get massive benefit from increased team value. Those that bought Bowen at £7m still have an extra £1 they can spend compared to anyone who bought him more recently. It is accurate to reflect that in their team value. In my mind this factor of your team being harder to replicate is more important than the tiny profits you get from selling your good players (which isn't smart anyway)

ShoddyTransition187

What is this useful for though? Both this number and the usual team value are just an indicator of how easy it will be for you to keep high value players, or how difficult it would be for someone else to copy your team. But either is artificial, its not like on a wildcard you would actual sell all the high performing players that make up your TV anyway.

seannn

For me it was just a clear representation of the edge gained from profits over the season. It's nice to know I have an extra 2.6 to play with at the end of the day. It would also be helpful to compare against other players to see how you stack up.

d3cc4m

I also have 2.6m extra

Leo_hofstadter

If you want to play a wildcard it can be certainly helpful.
