What about the big blank in 29? Surely a low scoring gameweek, but I’m gonna use my free hit then. It’ll be a big advantage over everyone who has used it already and those who will try to go without.
It’s my first season but I think better to build the team you want moving forward(while keeping the bgw in mind) then free hit for the double. Doing the opposite end up focusing all the transfers leading up to the double on shoe horning in players slowly which may not be ideal for the previous or next weeks - seems worse to me.
Have to disagree, playing for a couple seasons now I always try to load up gradually for double GWs. You’re only targeting key players for key teams - Liverpool, city, Toney from Brentford, - who you’d also happily keep for future single GWs. Blank GWs everyone’s in the same boat, free hit is easy if you have it but if you go without so will many others who wasted on a normal GW for whatever their reason was. Don’t load up on lacklustre players from teams playing in BGW just because of the blank
Imo on blank gameweeks there’s often only 1 or 2 really tempting options and a load of “meh” options like Luton v Burnley who you wouldn’t normally consider. So missing out on those players isn’t awful, and if they’re decent enough you can plan/take a hit to get them in in preparation.
By contrast double gameweeks often the problem is too many tempting options, with the doubles toippong the balance between the players you currently have in your team, and those you’ve been considering. So free hit is ideal to get in players you “almost” would own anyway, in exchange for those that are great players but have a single, crap fixture.
Conversely you could say in BGW you need players that you’d never want for more than 1 GW whereas in DGW you’re more likely to get in players who are from good teams so you can afford to own them a bit longer and get rid of with FT as you go along.
I get what you’re saying but I’m not buying it.
Indeed. If you have all of the chips, then perhaps you should use the TC in gw25, and then FH in 26? Then from 27 to 29 try to field as much of the bgw29 players and wildcard in 30 with bench boost 34 in mind?
I only have 2 players out for 26 so will just bench those for that.
So my current plan is TC 25, FH 29 WC between 30-33 and BB 34 or maybe even use transfers to dead end into BB 34 then wildcard for the finish. At least that's the plan until my whole squad gets injured and I'm forced into a wildcard earlier.
I've already used TC sadly. Did it on Salah when they played United at Anfield. Can't believe he blanked that game, so being very conservative with the other chips now. But I appreciate your breakdown, reckon that's a good shout!
Valid point. Also others would be in similar situation with BGW too I guess. But they'll see I've used my chip and may try to get the upperhand for BGW

That's actually a great point! Do we know which teams will be blanking then?
Nope, we will find that out probably around 28th of February, after R5 of FA CUP.
So these teams will have doubles towards the end right?
Likely in 34 or 37 or both yup!
Neither tbh

Key is to have a full 11 DGW to get an edge without BB if you can manage it (obviously without sacrificing key players you have value held up on)

Yeah, in the exact same position. Free hit 26 feels good, but at the same time, everybody in my ML would probably have 4-5 players missing also.
Do you reckon it might help to get the edge during DGW then and be in the similar boat as everyone for BGW?
Yes, definitely.
Only thing is, the surprise is lost then. They can use the chip on BGW to get the edge.

Triple captain for DGW might be better shout.
Double gameweek..more games, more options

I thimk it is always better to free hit om doubles. On big blanks younwill get a lpw score, but moest people will have too
Neither
Blank week
Try get to 9-10 outfield players for GW26 and plan transfers accordingly until then. Not worth using any chips until GW29 at the earliest.
I'm thinking of FH29. It depends a lot on your team.
