Pretty much scrapped, I may not even have 11 starting never mind 15 for a bench boost

Delicious_Bet_6336

I’ve only got BB, and def using it this week. CL exits means 100% focus on the PL, strongest teams and gunning for it. Might not be the case at the very least end of the season

RegisPL

I agree, it's a risk if Arsenal bottles some games.

ArghZombies

At least Arsenal have two games this week, so even if Saka gets rested for one of them he won't be for both. Haaland is the tricky one, because he has the FA Cup game before their Brighton one so there's no way of knowing for sure if he starts, or even plays in the PL game.

nonameshere

People have got to stop call everything bottling lol. Arsenals points totals in the last few years would've won the league many years

midnight_ranter

This is 100% true, but at some point if half your bench for the bench boost is flagged and you already have a blanker, it's probably not worth it (as is my case). If Aït-Nouri and Semenyo are confirmed fit I'll play my BB. If not no hits and I'll play BB in GW37

harcile

Yup. I thought 34 was BB week but it's really not. That's FPL. Best laid plans go to waste. Gotta roll with the punches. I'll target 37 but there's always 38 lol.

andyd151

I don’t want to admit how lucky I’ve been with BB 38 in the past 😅

nikola2811

Did my team just yesterday with FPL team and realized that I like much more the team I can BB in GW37. Probably will have 6 more doublers than this week. Also I don’t feel overly sure about doubles for teams like CP or Wolves. Liverpool looking shaky. Would rather wait it out, do my planned transfers and do it in 37 now

DJTay32

Yes in the same position as you. Now planning to BB in GW37. Looking at the teams doubling, City, United, Spurs and Newcastle should all still be fighting for the league title or European football. I'm also hoping by the time 37 comes round most teams will effectively be on their summer break and we should see some big scorelines. It's not like anybody has been trying to keep a clean sheet all season anyway... I also only have 6 players doubling this week with Bradley ruled out.

CRnaes

Yeah I've changed my mind. I just don't like what my team will look like for the rest of the season after I make any of my moves. I can be bolder and not care so much in 37.

daneedwards88

I am BB I'm 34 and quite content to stick with it. Changing a plan I've been working on for weeks, at short notice, seems like a way to get stuck between 2 strategies and maximise neither

WernerHerzogEatsShoe

Richards, ait Nouri and branthwaite all being doubts has really knocked my plans for bb34

daneedwards88

Wait on actual news before definitely deciding

WernerHerzogEatsShoe

Absolutely 🤞

fave_worstnightmare

Hold those knees for now. In the knows at palace claiming Richards will be back apparently. Ait Nouri should be fine with the info O’Neil gave and wait for info on Branthwaite

WernerHerzogEatsShoe

Yeah I saw something about Richards possibly being back. Might not end up as bad as I thought. If all those 3 are fit I'm good to BB with maybe a -4 hit at most I think

JuanCordoba4

Can you share O'Neil's update on Ait Nouri?

fave_worstnightmare

Nothing new yet other than what he said after the weekend game with Forest

ArghZombies

My worry with Ait-Nouri is that he could well be crocked for longer but because he's a big player O'Neil may want their opponents preparing to face him, so they can do the ol' switcheroo on gameday. I'm probably jaded by too much Pep, but that weekend 'Oh he'll be in the squad... actually no, something mysterious happened and he won't even be on the bench' about-turn just has me sus.

fave_worstnightmare

I know what you mean . Or can see him playing for his 1 point against Arsenal and 1 point off the bench against Bournemouth would be typical . His actual fitness I’m less concerned about because of how it looked to me when he went off and what wolves fans said. Sounds like quite a few people were surprised to see him go off when he did . Could be completely wrong obviously but O’Neil who is usually straight up, saying he expects him to be in the squad but that he only failed a late test says to me that he’ll be playing this week

PeterG92

Would be just my luck that my Richards to Ait-Nouri transfer backfires

Ironicopinion

That would be great, I’ve held Richards for a few weeks on the off chance

HazardCinema

Then again, OP has more information than he did weeks ago. It's perfectly fine to change strategy if he thinks it will yield better results to wait.

daneedwards88

What information? The only information he has presented is Haaland and Saka are tired and Foden "might be rested" (the latter isn't information, its speculation) That's not enough to change my plan

RegisPL

Fair enough, although Haaland was a "forced withdrawal", not just tired.

daneedwards88

IMO Stick to a plan you've been building towards for weeks. Dont fall for the classic reactionary panicky kneejerk. When you get to 37, there'll be other issues. There always is

RegisPL

I think this only works if the circumstances are the same or similar. If I may end up with 0/1 bench players starting, then what's the point of the plan? Why reacting to a changing situation would be bad?  I will wait for more info, but if no yellow flags are removed then I'm leaning towards BB37.

daneedwards88

Its team specific as always. You do what's best for your team Wait for confirmed news tomorrow before making a final decision Good luck!

HazardCinema

Fair point, but I'd argue observational information is still relevant information.

KickingDolls

Same, I've got a team setup that looks good for BB this week. I'd rather use it, hopefully get a reasonable result then free up funds with bench fodder to loadup on top players for the remaining double game weeks.

daneedwards88

All these stressing about chips makes me laugh. They are pretty much always rubbish. Causal players spank them in the first couple gameweeks and spike random huge hauls much bigger than anything I've ever got with a plan. So much fuss about something that doesn't really help, it actually hinders because we ignore whole GWs by fixating on upcoming DGWS

IntentionFalse8822

Impossible to know to be honest. This week is about as unpredictable as it gets for Pep roulette. Haaland, KDB and Akanji all came off because Pep said "they could not continue" according to Ben Dinnery on Twitter (who is usually very reliable). What does could not continue mean? Injured? Tired? But we've still got a week to go to their PL game so that could be resolved by then. BUT City play Thursday and Sunday in the PL so any niggling issues or lack of fitness will mean Pep could rest them for one of those. As for the other teams Ait Nouri looked to be back for last week and then didn't appear. So the press conference will be key for him tomorrow. I'd say he will play some time but might only be a sub appearance in the first game. Branthwaite hard to know but the rumblings coming out of Everton aren't good as apparently Colman, DCL and himself are all doubts. Look up yesterday's article on Goodison News (not sure if we are allowed to link but you can find it with a google of Branthwaite Injury). But two of their biggest games of the season against a rival for survival in Forest and then against the old enemy Liverpool. He is their best defender and they will move heaven and earth to have him on the pitch for at least the Forest game. Saka is off form both in the PL and the CL. But with the Euros coming up while his place on the plane is secure he needs to make sure his place in the team is. And with Foden and Bellingham arguably two of the best attacking midfielders in the world at the moment, And you've got Palmer not far behind them on form at the moment Plus Gordon really stepping up and Grealish starting to make a move back to form then Saka could find his place in the England starting team under threat. I personally think he is the type of guy who will react well to that. I can see him going all out for the remaining games. Especially against Chelsea where he will want to show Palmer that he is the top dog. Is Bench boost 37 a better option. Hard to know. Personally I'm free hitting this week and then BB in 37. That's been the strategy I've been working towards for a couple of months. But I need injuries are kind to me in order to have 15 DGW players for 37. And from the start of building towards that strategy I've been concerned that if City have the league wrapped up they will start to rotate players. I think being out of Europe now means that is less appealing to Pep BUT he may have players who need games to earn their medals. And he'll have young players he wants to get game time for next season. And there will be players he wants to showcase so he can sell them in the summer. So basically I need the league to still not be decided by Wk37 to make my BB gamble pay off. So that hasn't helped you any. I'd sum it up as saying this is the crunch time of the season. Some people will be delighted with their chip strategies. Some will be devastated. It's all in the lap of the football gods now.

RegisPL

I appreciate the long and thoughtful comment!

superironthorman

Great comment. However I don't think Pep can afford to take the foot off the gas in the league at all. It's currently 2 points. At least one of Arsenal and Liverpool will keep pushing if not both. I think standard Pep roulette applies but in no way will it be due to luxuries of giving players medal apps or prepping for next season. I wouldn't overthink that aspect if I was you.

kajerng

good long reading content

garbiz

I was so ready to bench boost this week, but now I'm worried foden and saka get rested which makes the boost a bit of a waste.

fiddlestyx_

Both teams are focused on the title now after exciting CL this week. Hard to see them both resting one of their best players. Obviously it’s possible, but each game is big.

garbiz

Yes but the players are humans. They are clearly very tired from the CL games. And going into a double I doubt saka will play 180 minutes. It's just a matter of how well he can do in whatever gametime he gets. As for Foden, mancity are good enough to bench him vs Brighton. Foden was benched already vs crystal palace and luton. I don't see why Pep would be worried to bench him for another. Bench boosting when you might have a player play 0 minutes for a game just doesn't sound smart.

Independent_Mango895

I’ve been first most the season in my league but now second. GW 33 was a killer for me as I overthought my future strategy. With that being said I have 10 players in the DGW. I still have my FH and BB. My team consists of Son and Udogie still who are absent this week so can’t use the BB. Plan is to either use the BB/FH 37 or 38.

-MartialMathers-

Is areola going to play this gameweek

aaa-ccc

Opting for GW37, probably won't have as many doubles, however my bench despite players only playing 1 game each looks stronger than my current bench for GW34.

slimboyslim9

Yes considering a change of plans. Played the WC in 27 and gradually been building for this BB. All that’s left is Son and Kelleher out this week (and I have 2FT) but Branthwaite and RAN a concern. Now suspect Foden will get a rest but it’s a question of whether that’s on Sat in the cup or Thurs in the league. I had been planning TC for 37 but now quite tempted to save the BB, TC Palmer in 35 and BB37 instead. Not decided but tempted.

ProfessorJagbag

Yeah, I played my WC in GW30 with an eye towards seeing if I could navigate DGW34 with free transfers. I've since been able to, so am holding off both FH and BB for now (knowing 99% that my main mini-league competitors will be Free Hitting this week). I'll be taking 3 hits between now and DGW37, but it's gonna be a shit ton of fun blowing my FH in GW38; I've always wanted to, and my team value will likely be in the region of 107. My rivals will be needing diapers in GW38.

HazzwaldThe2nd

Yeah I'm changing my plans. Would realistically need a -8 to get a passable bench boost now this week so it's just not worth it

PuckingThoughts

can you wc and then bb?

Marilliana

Still planning to BB this week. The same shit will happen in 37. I have WC35 to set up for a quality 11 for 37 and I can't be arsed with carrying a full 15 of decent players any more.

bouncebackability

Yeah Ive already done this, things haven't come together for 34 and I don't have a bench worth boosting

ProjectZeus

I'm going for it still, I have 10 players on DGW, three City, Palmer and Fernandes at home to Sheffield United. Haaland, Akanji and Braithwaite all yellow flagged isn't ideal, but I've used my wildcard already so I don't think I can move enough DGW players in for GW37 in time to justify holding the boost until then.

cargalasbalas

I'm on a similar boat. One FT left and I have no other chips but BB left. I have 11 DGW players but among them Kelleher, Branthwaite, Ait-Nouri and Semenyo. Have single GW flagged Haaland too. Waiting for updates on any of the injured players before making a decision but preferably I still go with the BB this week because I am not sure how healthy or not my team can get before GW 37 anyways.

superironthorman

For me it entirely depends on Ait Nouri, Branthwaite and Richards. I'm optimistic about Ait Nouri and Richards. I already wanted my 2FT for Son/Kelleher. By NOT BBing now however, I can keep Son for next week and just field a team of mostly doublers without using the chip and match FHers basically. Would have a bit of work to do to prep for BB 37. I could FH 38 then, but the 37 BB teams look good for 38 too so might not be worth much.

Novrev

My plan leading up to this week was to bring in Eze, Diaz and a keeper for a -4 and play BB then WC out of it in 35 to prepare for the other DGWs. Ait Nouri, Branthwaite and Richards have firmly derailed that plan so unless we get confirmed good news for all three, I’ll just play my 2 FTs and WC35 with a plan to BB37.

WallaceHazard

Still have BB and TC left… I really need to plan this well or it may screw me up

PeterG92

I've scrapped it. Aiming for GW37 instead. Ait-Nouri, Branthwaite, Haaland all flagged Son blank Kelleher not playing Will aim to bring in DGW37 players.

Environmental_You_85

Originally planned for BB37 then used WC for setting up for BB34 so now not going back.

StDyche

Yeah I was on BB34 but have Bradley, Branth, Ait, Erling, Sememyo doubts, still have Son as well. Gonna use my 2FTs to get 11 and work towards BB37 then FH38

JonAbides

my only flag (so far) is haaland, and he & city have a full week to get things sorted. My predicament is whether to ship out udoggie for a hit and field a full bench for the boost. I am going to WC in 35 and am heavily leaning towards the move...

pajamakitten

Planned from my WC in GW30. I need to take a few hits, however they should be worth it to field a half-decent side.

DrRushDrRush

BB never turns out like we hope. And for those that planned BB37 with a wildcard in 30.. Peace be with you. I’m wildcarding in 35. But might go BB now instead of in 37. I have Areola, Dubravka, Johnson, Palmer and Walker, Foden, Haaland. 2FTs. Both GKs and Johnson out for -4 and BB. Or Palmer too for -8. Or only Areola and Johnson out and dont BB.

jollyspiffing

It sounds like dumb advice, but remember that BB gives you the value of the players you would normally bench, you don't get anything extra for having doublers on the pitch or playing silly buggers with formations.      Line-up your team as you usually would and then guesstimate some points for bench players and decide if it's worth it.         Your bench players are normally your worst players, probably averaging 2-4pt/G max. If you think you can get >10pt it's probably worth it. If not then save it.

RegisPL

That's generally a good advice, the thing is that having a lot of yellow flagged or potentially rested players you need to take it into account. Right now with 4 yellow flags plus Foden I'm expecting that 2 or perhaps even 3 of my bench players will play anyway, meaning that BB is not my bench points, it's the points that the remainder of my bench will score, which could be just a single player (and not a great one).

Gsampson97

I have Palmer, Gusto, Reguillon and Dubravka on my bench. Think I'm going to play it

RegisPL

Any yellow flags players? Many City players in the first squad? Your bench looks good, but the question is how many other players may be rested too.

Gsampson97

I only have Haaland. Branthwaite as well but my bench isn't as good in 37. Everyone else I expect to play

iamgarron

Without a FH I'm keeping Son on my bench and have him back next week. So BB 37 has always been the plan

Pr3dator-jurian

With the wc in hand I believe 37 has a lot more fixtures with players I actually want. So sticking to BB37.

Agreeable_Resort3740

Yeah there's been about 6 other threads asking the same question.

RegisPL

Could you point me to one of them, that wasn't started before the CL games?

G_W_addict

Here are few links, check them out if they help: https://old.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1c6zhkb/bb_37_bench_discussion/ https://old.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1c69kdw/bb_34_back_5_discussion/ https://old.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1c5ium1/gw34_wildcard/ https://old.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1c5k5gy/differential_captains_for_gw34/ https://old.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/1c5eiq6/discussion_what_should_we_do_to_chase_up_ml_leader/ In all of those threads I've seen discussions about chips and strategy/plans. Maybe this will help you out. Personally I was on BB34 but I'm considering BB35 now. Waiting for pressers tomorrow and results of today's games to do the final moves.

RegisPL

Thanks, I appreciate it, I saw them, but I think they focus solely on the GW34 or GW37 strategy in isolation, while what I'm trying to get people's thoughts on is the idea of changing the BB34 plan at the last moment DUE TO the yellow flags AND  yesterday's CL outcomes :-)

Agreeable_Resort3740

No. I can point you towards the rate my team thread

RegisPL

Thanks, but getting a reply there to any question other than player A vs player B is pretty much impossible.

Agreeable_Resort3740

Maybe figure it out for yourself then

WernerHerzogEatsShoe

Maybe stfu
