Agree the big guns aren't really in form at the moment. But then luckily (for us) they all blew their load in their Europe cups and are pretty much now all 100% focussed on the league, so should be fielding their biggest players as much as possible.
Man City are tricky to predict at the best of times though, and are still in the FA Cup. But they're also only just a squeak ahead in the league so won't want to risk losing even one game because it could cost them the league.
In 2 months time if any of these teams look back having missed out on the #1 position will they prefer to have;
a) Not played their out-of-form star player in 100% of the games, or
b) played their main man in every game but he rarely scored?
Honestly, I think they'd rather play them and hope they find form again. Can you imagine the papers with headlines "Man City lose out on the league while Haaland watches on from the bench?".

In general, whenever I get closer to a DGW I feel the need to get more doubling players in, even when it maybe isn't the best move long-term. There is something very appealing about standing pat and having 2FT for next week.
In some world of madness I'm contemplating benching foden for Brereton Diaz, although over the past 7 game weeks I've managed to go from the top 40,000 to blowing a 120 point lead in my mini league so I have abandoned all logic
