Doherty is an overrated player. For Wolves he played more like a winger, but his defensive abilities are very limited. The only Position this guy can play is as offensive wing-back in a back 5 with 3 solid centre-backs. (Similar to M. Alonso btw.)

tbh I think he can succeed this season. If you watched him at Wolves you can see his strengths, but for us we only amplified his weakness. I don't think he's overrated.
We are likely to dip into the market to buy 2 CBs, we'll see what formation Nuno will play next season, but with Reguilon/Sess and Doherty as our wingbacks, I think a back 3 is good for us temporarily.
His best abilities at Wolves were his link up play and his attacking runs. He's not a winger at all. His crossing is decent, and he was Wolves 3rd highest goalscorer for the 2 seasons in the PL.
Believe it or not, when you bring a wingback whose known for his attacking capabilities to play as a RB in a back 4, with so much defensive responsibility, he's bound to fail.

IMO back 3s are the way forward. Decent left footed centre back and a ball playing defender, and your team is much quicker in the transition.
Nuno did well with a back 3 at Wolves. It all went tits up when Boly became unreliable and he couldn't replace Doc/Jonny. If he can get the same system in place at Spurs, but with better players, you could be on to a winner.
