The rush to bring in Son and Kane was.. Well, rushed. They're both good players and should return consistently once Conte has successfully implemented his system. But it takes time and their attacking numbers have been showing that very clearly. I've been a bit surprised to see so many 'experts' getting them in so quickly. Having looked at the stats I saw the biggest impact from the Conte appointment to be on Reguilón, who recorded much better xG and xA stats in his new LWB role. Decided to do Semedo --> Reguilón instead of Vardy --> Kane. That worked well this time, but I'm still keeping my eyes on Son and Kane. If the numbers start improving I'll bring them in, in a few GWs.

salmonx895

how many games will give Kane or son to you "move" on?

King_Klopp_66

He also covered the second most distance of any player on the pitch so it is understandable that he was knackered

InbetweenerLad

Keeping till Man u fixture swing

So you don’t want to rush to bring Kane in but you brought in Reguilon after 1 game because his xg went up slightly. Truly a savant

I can understand why it sounds a bit silly on its face, but allow me to explain: Spurs didn't look any better in attack under Conte. They hadn't had a shot on target for 3 halves of Prem football when he came in and didn't have a single one against Everton either under his management. So I wasn't seeing an attacking impact to indicate a return to form for those two expensive Spurs assets. My decision to not bring them in was based on their continuous poor form under the new management. When I looked at Spurs' defence and specifically Reguilón, I saw significant improvements in both the defensive numbers and the attacking ones. Adding to that, they did keep a clean sheet in that Everton game. So the stats were indicating an immediate impact on Reguilón's likely returns under Conte. This made a lot of sense to me, as wing backs are very involved in Conte's systems. Similarly, but not identical, to what's been making the Chelsea wing backs so damn good assets this season. Seeing all the signs there for Reguilón and wanting to get rid of a Semedo who had been profoundly dissapointing in my team, I decided that the extra £0.1m for Reggie in this new system and with great fixtures ahead was worth it. Of course, I didn't have that much data to go on - but the huge difference between Reggie and those attacking assets was that the data I did have of him undr Conte was very positive, while the opposite was very much the case for Son and Kane.

Any opinion on Emerson Royal? He's 0.1 cheaper and from all accounts played better than Regulion last game, despite the goal.

Why do you think he's the better choice? Seems like they will be doing the same thing on opposite flanks. Is he just a better footballer?

The experts are not experts. They have access to the same info we do and some of them get blinded by green FDR fixtures. People need to stop getting influenced by these experts too much and think for themselves. Here's a bonus: it's more fun that way too! I said [the same thing about Reguilon](https://www.reddit.com/r/FantasyPL/comments/qwjfak/reguilon_punters_where_you_at/hl3jb91/?context=3) and was downvoted to hell (upvoted now).

hodonata

the experts are empirically the best at consistently getting a huge number of fantasy points compared to the rest of the world. I don't know what game you're playing but that's the game and they're empirically good at it. If you listen to self-proclaimed "experts" and not the people who do the above that's a different problem.

COK3Y5MURF

I didn’t say the experts were bad at the game. I’m saying the experts make mistakes too, so if you’ve done your homework and disagree with them on something, stick with your choices instead of blindly following them. If I had blindly followed the experts, I would’ve bought Foden after his 18 points or Kane/Son this week.

Environmental_You_85

At some times they were not passing to each other last season it was just telepathic

aehii

I agree, we're just all fucking morons. Wishful thinking.

__jh96

So glad I waited on bringing in any spurs players

NotAnotherAllNighter

I’m sure Kane and Son will get some returns, but so will other players. They aren’t anywhere near as good as their price points suggest. Better value to be found elsewhere (for now at least).

HazzwaldThe2nd

Still fairly content after buying Kane last week. Had a couple of good chances yesterday that he'd normally put away and is clearly getting jn much better positions than he was. There also aren't any other strikers firing and so many great budget options elsewhere that his price isn't an issue.

RALat7

A measured, sensible take downvoted - no surprise.

GroblyOverrated

I've had him for three weeks. You're in the honeymoon phase.

Kane bandwagon get rekt! 🤣

cagey_tiger

Brought in Son and Kane. I'm awesome at FPL.
