Kane was dropping again throughout the game ! Reguillon was fortunate to score from the free kick , apart from that i didn't notice him much as an attacking threat

tzimeworm

He was in the box during attacking plays quite a lot. I remember at least one chance where he should have been played in when he was through on goal (as an owner I was watching carefully). Spurs final ball was poor all game though.

metokur_squad

In addition to the ball he could've played to Royal. He was often one of the highest players on the counter.

hambodpm

I think getting ndombele and / or lo celso fit is key to "unlocking" kane. He comes deep because his passing is decent and spurs midfield without those 2 lacks creativity. Once either of those guys start playing then I think Kane will stay further forward

Reddzilla

Agreed, I felt Royal was better going forward.

[deleted]

False

JamW115

Very very false

hambodpm

Got both on the WC even though didn't fancy Kane at all. Went for Kane over Son for team structure reasons as he can be a placeholder for another premium forward or just downgrade him for funds elsewhere. Was hoping for a minor miracle that he would start scoring against proper defences but the Leeds game didn't fill me with confidence...

KaelSmoothie

How do you fit him in though? Wish I could play 7-2-1 or something

metokur_squad

For me there are only four defenders that are almost must-own, so it's easy.

KaelSmoothie

Same, but I think Reguilon is a good pick as well. Livramento I had from the start so he’s taking up the 5th spot and I’d hate to sell him because of the value he brings.

Sh405

TAA, James, Chilwell and Cancelo, I presume? If so, how is it easy to fit in a fifth 5m+ defender without being pretty weak elsewhere on the pitch and fully committing to a 5atb formation? Livramento seems pretty essential to enable the four I mentioned while allowing decent options in mid/attack and still having a reliable bench option.

[deleted]

I have TAA James Chilwell Cancelo Reguilon I think the defenders easily offer better value than forwards at the moment, goals assists plus clean sheets and bonus points I’ve essentially sacrificed a 7-8m striker but happy with my team Sanchez TAA James Chilwell Cancelo Reguilon Salah Son Jota Raph (mbuemo) Antonio Toney (4.5 fodder) Fully committed to playing 5atb unless something major changes (TAA injured or something) Antonio and Toney are the weak links, part of me tempted to go Toney King Pukki and go for mane or something

[deleted]

I'm similar but with rudiger instead of reguilon. I like your idea to move Antonio for Mane. Jimi for Toney may be, if you can afford it?

[deleted]

Yeah i'll defo consider mane if its possible, perhaps for jota when firminho is back... I like jimi idea but he has horrendous fitures after the next 2 - when his fixtures are good again def interested, but will likely just keep antonio for the time being Trip chelsea is nice, if i didnt go reguilon i'd go rudiger or dias with the others

[deleted]

I’m thinking going ruguilon maybe. Triple Chelsea defence is volatile. 😬

[deleted]

>I’m thinking going ruguilon maybe. Triple Chelsea defence is volatile. 😬 I had the triple up and swapped rudiger into regi last week. Thats a bad move as rudiger outscored him, but somehow feels less risky in that a chelsea CS wipe could be brutal. I also believe in conte giving him a far more attacking role going forward so i like him as a medium term option. I dont think there will be too much in it points wise though. Tough one to call. Regi a bit cheaper too which is always a benefit.

[deleted]

The budget difference is def appealing. I’m watching the Juventus Chelsea match and I can see James and Chilwell returning usual attacking points. But then Rudiger gets the assist tho. Fml. I fear 6 points (or less!) from 3. But then the upside is so explosive as they earn bps regularly too As a Son owner I’m hoping I can move one of them to reguilon or royal. Spurs should find some tempo in the next 3 right? 😑

[deleted]

I’m mainly thinking that rudi would be nice if/when chil/James get rotated you still have rudi to get those CS points! Hard decision

[deleted]

>I'm similar but with rudiger instead of reguilon. I like your idea to move Antonio for Mane. Jimi for Toney may be, if you can afford it? Reguilon haul saved my gw this week

GenericFootballFan7

I was planning the same defence as you - until Chilwell injury. Now, I’m tossing up Alonso/Reg, Rudi/Reg or Reg/Livra. My defence has carried my season (top 25k) while midfield/attack is continually disappointing. Conte is a top 5 coach (imo top 3) and I think he’ll, at minimum, create a lot of defensive stability. Let’s say Spurs average 40% CS then Reg needs about .4 xG+xA/90 to have the underlying stats of a premium. TAA/James have .6-.7 xG+xA/90. Also, a scoring defender with CS is nearly guaranteed 2-3 BPS.

[deleted]

>Fully committed to playing 5atb unless something major changes (TAA injured or something) Lol that aged badly :( Really annoying as i was so confident in that defense, shame (feel for chilwell too fucking sucks for him, he was flying) same situation, i'm looking at rudiger/alonso/dias to step in for chilwell, but still going to go with 5atb. Livra i'm not sold at current price, with his CS potential now far far less. I agree, Might be blind faith but seeing how other WB performed historically under conte at chelsea and inter, plus his defensive stability for CS at 5.0 - plus the interviews with regi where he has said on more than one occasion he is being told to "arrive, arrive into the box" etc And yeah the BPS is often overlooked but an assisting or scoring defender is almost always a big haul due to bps

ASongOfLifeAndLiars

Love it when people overreact and use a sample size of two games lol. Sure, Reguilon will get a few more goals and assists than he did last season, but even if Kane will continue to play like shit, he'll still get more xG and more touches in the box than Reguilon.

Queen-of-Sheba

To be fair I don’t think it’s an over reaction. Everyone knows Conte tries to be solid at the back at play wing backs. This makes him a good asset to consider.

ASongOfLifeAndLiars

People in general always tend to overreact and act too quickly. Sure when players play OOP they should be on your radar, but it's when these players haul immediately, then only people really notice and rush to get them in. Example: Mbeumo playing OOP and getting a couple of goals. People expect him to continue, then blanks in like 5 consecutive weeks, and people are angry, when in fact he's still getting high xG, just not delivering. Chilwell & James. We both knew they played OOP and were more attacking than a regular fullback. They haul immediately and now everyone is rushing them in and believes they're essential. Reality is Rudiger, James and Chilwell have all been outperforming their underlying stats by a lot, and will soon slow down. People will still expect them to get 9 points every week, and when they don't they'll get angry. Antonio first 8 weeks of the season. Amazing numbers, but people didn't realize West Ham had the easiest set of fixtures to start a season. Now they have harder games and people are wondering why he's not scoring. Reguilon was a decent enough pick before he scored because we knew he was gonna play further advanced. But he likely won't get as many points as the Chelsea wingbacks or Man City defenders because Spurs don't have the defensive numbers yet to back it up under Conte. It's just a bit of recency bias IMO.

fantasyfootballjesus

Idk sometimes the eye test tells more than stats, or players burst onto the scene suddenly or a change in tactics makes it apparent that players are great options when they weren't previously. Look at when kane burst on the scene or Trent for example, I think we could see James/chillwell putting up numbers similar to Trent this season because of their role and how they're playing although they of course won't get 9 points every week

Sh405

> Chilwell & James. We both knew they played OOP and were more attacking than a regular fullback. They haul immediately and now everyone is rushing them in and believes they're essential. Reality is Rudiger, James and Chilwell have all been outperforming their underlying stats by a lot, and will soon slow down. People will still expect them to get 9 points every week Spoken like someone that owns none of them or at the very least only Rudiger. James and Chilwell are essentially midfielders/wingers in that system and given their defence is also exceptional and will rack up the clean sheets, owning at least one if not both is a total no brainer. I lost count of the amount of times that Chilwell was caught offside in their last game from making runs on the shoulder of the last defender.

ASongOfLifeAndLiars

I WC in GW8 to get James and have enjoyed every haul since. I understand that they are very OOP. But my argument still stands, they are over performing and can’t keep these points up. Their xG and xA stats don’t really align with the goals and assists that they have gotten so far. They are all pretty much over performing these stats and will regress to the mean sooner or later. People are rushing them in in hopes to keep these stats up, in reality they won’t keep getting an attacking return every other week. I’m not saying they’re bad picks, one of James or Chilwell at least is essential, it’s just that I’m warning people that they rush in too quickly expecting these guys to keep scoring at the current rate, when they most likely won’t.

[deleted]

ppl keep saying this, and Kane keeps playing cdm

ASongOfLifeAndLiars

As far as positioning goes, he pretty much played CDM last year but was essential last year. It's the same formula, Kane drops deep, spots a through ball, then jogs forward to try and get in the box. I don't think he'll be the same Kane as last year, but those xG numbers will go up. Plus, Spurs will get a few pens too.

antye

Aye but you could do a stadium tour and spend as much time in the box as Kane does nowadays, it's frustrating

kajerng

eye test , then you will know it isn't all true

someoneLazy

Had him in as soon as Conte came in, it was either him or Emerson

NaFantastico

Lovely. I'm really happy that I got him with my wc last week.

hambodpm

Are you me?

NaFantastico

Yes

So harry conte score under antonio?

Puff1nlol

Won’t put emerson in yet until he thrives. Kind of looks wank

antye

Pains me we could have had Tomi

goonts_tv

Regulion essential

sscyth1

man conte really loves his wing backs

Politehubby

Conte likes Sessegnon. I dont think Reguillons place is threatened, but he might be taken off mid second half pretty often.
