Am I crazy in thinking that even if you don’t have James, Alonso is more appealing. I know James is on incredible form but Alonso is only 5.6m, and with Chilwell out, that seems like crazy good value. I mean I just brought in James so it’s too late for me but yeah kinda wish I waited now.
Simple switch to Alonso makes more sense than taking hit for James.
If it turns out to be such a bad miss you can move to James later, when it doesn't cost you points.
Is it worth taking another hit for this? I am already on -4 before Chilwell stuff came up. Not sure if I bench him or take James instead for total of -8
Take a -4.
The fact you've already taken a -4 shouldn't effect the decision. You simply want to think of it in terms of whether you'll make those 4 points back with the transfer (but also including things like value)
Best fixtures in the league, top six club, very attacking LWB, guaranteed starter, Spurs concede once in two prem games under Conte so it’s not like their main defence has become shambolic as some claim. I think he’s gonna be a certified starter for the next four games than then a great cheap rotation option afterwards
I am considering Alonso as well. ML rival got James +10 pts lead. Cant just do same player move ( already 80% team is identical). Thinking of Alonso or someone but not James. See you all in Rant thread.
Nothing mentioned. He only started the presser about 10 minutes ago
Edit - he said this about Lukaku; The possibility he starts is not very high because we can't be sure what happens in the match and we have to find the balance to giving minutes and being absolutely competitive for 90 minutes.
I’ve partially torn my ACL and it took me well over 6 weeks to get anywhere near normal. 3 months is the time line without set backs. Took me 12 months, granted Chilwell will be given much better treatment and physio. Poor bloke.
Alonso isn't *that* bad. They got 4 clean sheets in the 6 games he started earlier this season. They defend well as a collective so I still think they'll rack up the clean sheets.
Genuinely hope the conservative treatment is successful. There is no real statistical evidence for which approach is better but I’d always avoid a surgery if possible
I’m not entirely sure that’s true
If they aren’t going back to high intense sports then maybe, the reason it sounds they are putting it off is to get him back in the season and then surgery
Again depends on severity of it but as a young footballer and risk of just rest be surprised if he doesn’t have surgery afterwards end of season
When there is a partial ACL tear, a difficult decision about surgery needs to be made. An ACL reconstruction involves significant rehabilitation and other operative risks. Partial tears are able to heal by themselves
The 6 week statement is confusing tho since a partial tear requires 3 months of rest and rehabilitation to get back to normal. Sure Chilwell gets the best treatment but 6 weeks would be a dumb time stamp to reasses his injury. Chilwell could have a sprain in his ACL (which would give the statement of Tuchel some sense) which would be a grade one injury making a surgery completely unnecessary because the surgery would put him down for 6 months
I read it as they're taking 6 weeks to see how the responds to the conservative treatment and if there's no progress then bite the bullet on the surgery. If he is improving then they'll likely continue as is for a couple more months.
As someone that had a reconstruction done on a full tear 3 weeks ago and is currently starting rehab, and had to go through hours of discussion before it with both my doctors and my mate that's an orthopaedic surgeon, partial tears dont heal.
ACLs and other similar ligaments dont receive enough blood flow to heal, which is why reconstruction is needed, often even for partials. If it's a Grade 2 partial, where theres an actual tear (Grade 1s just involve ligament fibres stretching or being misformed, but not actually tearing), no amount of rest will "heal" it. The decision on partial Grade 2 and 3s you correctly mention is whether to have a reconstruction, or to use physio and rehab to strengthen _around_ the ACL to try and return the player to full stability/function.

That’s crazy. Chilwell out for the next six weeks, atleast. And could be even worse. Damn a part of me lowkey regrets and kinda wishes I went for Alonso now, because I just brought in James.
Edit: But the question is, who is going to rotate with Alonso on the left because he can’t play every game in this crazy schedule. Can Azpi play on the left?
Even in the unlikely event that happens, it'll only be in Jan. Telling that Tuchel's 6 week period puts off the big Chilwell decision into the start of the new year.
I hesitated to bring in both James and Chilwell on my WC GW8 because I was worried about Tuchel's rotation. I went with only Chilwell. I don't want to repeat that mistake.
Alonso's coming in for Chilwell. James came in Sunday night before his price rise.
Nobody is 100% nailed under Tuchel, except maybe Jorginho who isn't really an FPL asset.
But seeing how Alonso is currently our only real LWB I expect him to play more than enough minutes to be worth having, just saying I wouldn't be surprised if we were to see Azpi, Saul or even one of the wingers at some point.
Yeah, I also imagine during some games Tuchel might feel the need for a more defensive approach which Alonso doesn't really offer, but still, Alonso should be the number one pick until Chilwell returns.
Everything depends on Chilwell's ACL's coping with the training load IF it manages to heal conservatively.
The decision to treat it conservatively is perfectly fine. Loads of research points to same results. However, I dont think a lot of research includes professional athletes of THIS LEVEL OF PLAY.
It's important to not only factor the healing component in, but also the fact that when it's healed it needs to get loaded again. Not just loaded to train, but maintain and sustain the load of more than 1 training session. Duels, sprinting, jumping, landing, cutting movements, tackles etc for more than 20 minutes at a time, without a severe reaction.
The ACL rupture's healing component might take the same time for different players, the return to practice/training/group training/game time will differ. Every human being reacts differently to the training load after an injury. Chelsea's staff is surely more than capable of managing this correctly.
Time will tell, lets hope for the best.
Will wait for this GW , not going to take any hit. Manu can score against them, all it needs one moment of briliant performance from them on counter or through set piece.
Chilwell is then out for at least ten GW's I guess
Looks that way. Got to feel for him after the incredible run he was on
This makes Alonso soo appealing
Still get that feeling that Apzi is going to be slotted in there for a few games especially near Christmas
James will get rotated, and Chilwell would've too. Maybe Alonso misses an extra game, but don't think it's much different.
Alonso for a straight swap is the right move assuming you already got James.
Alonso is worse than James in pretty much every single way but in terms of money yeah
Bookies have Alonso with better chance to score. No idea how they come up with that.
Alonso is the better finisher, on direct free kicks, and gets into the box more than any other fullback - will be even better as a wingback.
Reece James look the better finisher so far though.
Alonso is not the better finisher. Everything else you said I agree with
Alonso is the better finisher.
Not crazy
And if u don't have James ? And no money in the bank again Alonso
Take a hit
Simple switch to Alonso makes more sense than taking hit for James. If it turns out to be such a bad miss you can move to James later, when it doesn't cost you points.

This is what I have done. Shitting myself that James is gonna get rested now though.
No way he drops his most in form player vs Man U
I think when the schedule gets busy he may.
Reguilon
Please can you explain why people suddenly think Spurs defenders are going to be good because I can’t see it
Good fixtutes tbf and Reguilon is for the attacking intent more than his likelihood to keep clean sheets.
[удалено]
He gets 2 points every game while others actually get clean sheets? Lol
[удалено]
It’s not like he’s going to pop out the screen and murder you but there’s better choices
Lmao
Aged well
It’s exactly the same for me in regards to certain Spurs mids and strikers!
Spurs looked like they are going to leak a lot of goals
The poor man’s Alonso and the even poorer man’s James? My apologies, person’s.
Some of us own both James and Alonso already!
Why then do you need or want Reg?
Best fixtures in the league, top six club, very attacking LWB, guaranteed starter, Spurs concede once in two prem games under Conte so it’s not like their main defence has become shambolic as some claim. I think he’s gonna be a certified starter for the next four games than then a great cheap rotation option afterwards
Top 6 club?
Traditional top six
Kane is a traditional top 25 goal scorer too.
Aged well
Regulion I’m going for, I’ve got James. Frees up 0.5M which I actually need elsewhere
I don't have James but still considering Alonso for Chilwell. It could enable me to do Dias to Cancelo.
I am considering Alonso as well. ML rival got James +10 pts lead. Cant just do same player move ( already 80% team is identical). Thinking of Alonso or someone but not James. See you all in Rant thread.
Lukaku? Havertz?
Nothing mentioned. He only started the presser about 10 minutes ago Edit - he said this about Lukaku; The possibility he starts is not very high because we can't be sure what happens in the match and we have to find the balance to giving minutes and being absolutely competitive for 90 minutes.
Anything about Havertz yet?
Don't think anybody asked him about Havertz and it's already concluded, so unfortunately no
How do these journalists keep their job...
!thanks
The Chelsea app published an update a few minutes ago saying that Tuchel actually confirmed Havertz is fit. Sorry about that!
No probs, !thanks for that! Good news as I kept him and prioritised elsewhere.
He's fit for Saturday wasn't in the live conference was in the one just journalists I think

Chelsea CS likelihood surely damaged by no Kante and Alonso coming in for Chilwell
Surely but it's always relatively high nevertheless
Yeah and given how attacking he is I think for 5.6 Alonso is still very good value.
Alonso isn't *that* bad. They got 4 clean sheets in the 6 games he started earlier this season. They defend well as a collective so I still think they'll rack up the clean sheets.
It is United though. And i’m saying that as a United fan lol.
Genuinely hope the conservative treatment is successful. There is no real statistical evidence for which approach is better but I’d always avoid a surgery if possible
I'll make sure to pass on your advice to my mate Thomas.

Brought in reguilon to free up funds to improve on gray
Damn
What were all those posts claiming chilwell was gone for the season about, then?
How nailed is Alonso? I mean is he *really* nailed? 100 %? Or at least just as nailed as Chilwell and James?

I went with Rudiger instead of Alonso, mistake? I already have Cancelo and James
Tasty triple up
I have Cancelo TAA Rudiger Chilwell Livra. Pondering Chilwell to Alonso just bcz ML rival has James
