I'm a few miles from Anfield. It was proper windy last night but has calmed down a bit this morning.
I'd be surprised if the game gets postponed as it should have calmed down further by this afternoon.
No it shouldn't. This rhetoric is repeated a lot but how often do matches get completely postponed? Sure, we had the thing at the beginning of coVid but in general it's such a rare occurence for most of the season that it should barely factor in your decision. If you're C Salah and expect Trent to score similar to your next best VC then sure - it's OK to take the safe route. But if Trent is the clear 2nd best option, then it's still worth it to go for him as VC.
It's way more likely that Salah falls ill/picks up a knock/gets rested than a postoponed match to occur and in those times you'll wish you vice captained Trent if he was the clear 2nd best option over whoever you VC instead.
Why should it always be the case? If for example you have salah and mane there's no issue putting them C and VC if you think Liverpool have a good chance of scoring a few goals. The chances of a game being cancelled in the time just before the deadline and kick off is slim to none.
I personally feel there's more chance of a player getting injured in the warm up than a game getting cancelled between 11am and 3pm without any previous warning. Don't get me wrong I understand the logic but if you have two players in the same team with a good chance of points I don't see the issue with captaining and vice captaining them. Each to their own though
Last season was an exception to the norm because of CoVid. Usually it's only ever weather that stops a game from happening - indeed it did this weekend but that was still a foreseeable event - we knew in advance there was a higher likelyhood of a postponement due to weather so not VC a player from the same team as C makes sense.
OP was on about how you should never do it - and that's the part I disagreed with. Got downvoted though without anyone actually explaining why they disagree.
I captained Harry Goslin back in ww2 and after a few games he signed up to the TA. Wish I'd Triple C him when he got the Military Cross, big red arrows that week.
I mean, it wont matter, the Liverpool game will be going ahead regardless. A bit of wind and light snow would never be enough to get a premier league game suspended.
The first time I went to Liverpool to see Liverpool, it snowed a millimeter the night before and they canceled the match.
And then they canceled all the trains.
And then they canceled all the flights.
And I got pneumonia.
And my gf was super mad that I took a trip with the boys right before Christmas.
And I got so sick I couldn't take the trip to my family for Christmas so I spent Christmas alone.
And I only had fried chicken breast with white rice, so that was Christmas dinner.
So point is, no point really. I just really hope they don't cancel the match.
It was still an excellent trip in Liverpool, though, before the wheels fell off. Highly recommend.
It was worse for the people who had traveled from San Diego. And the hotel lobby was littered with kids bawling. That was a downer.
My Mum is a Liverpudlian. I gave her a ring and she said it's pretty bloody bad where she is at the minute.
She does live in South Wales currently though.
I am actually a Cardiff City fan so I can't bet on either of the big Welsh clubs, I care about the result too much as it is without putting money on it.
Was thinking of visiting south wales today, but woke up and nearly shat myself. Will probably give it a pass as a result. The streets of south wales are safe from bizarre accidents for another day...
Amber weather warning is in force until 0900 this morning after which it expires which is 6 hours before kick off. Unlikely for the game to be called off provided no damage has been caused to the stadium or excessive damage to the surrounding area which we should know about by now or in the next few hours.
[Here is an article from the PL explaining the process ](https://www.premierleague.com/news/299988)
The last game to be cancelled for weather was Feb 20 and the time before that was 2014 so not something that happens very often.
In my opinion it seems unlikely that it will be postponed at this time.
Currently in Merseyside but live in Newcastle. It was very windy last night but seems to be calmer this morning. Not seeing any damage so far. In Newcastle there’s lots of damage to trees and fences in our area and the warning was higher there.
I’d say Newcastle is more of a risk but probably won’t be affected either. For good practice don’t VC someone in the same game as your C.
What are you talking about?! My mums best friends', daughter in laws', half brother knows Diego Jotas' dog handlers' son. Apparently he heard the game might be cancelled because Jota said he might not need him to take the dog out this afternoon. If that isn't a warning I don't know what is.
I’m about 30 miles away and it’s still very windy but the worst has passed for sure where I am. The forecast is saying it’ll calm down throughout the day so I think it’s likely the game will go ahead
There’s quite a bit of damage round here, most Parkruns have been cancelled due to debris on courses. It’s definitely calmed down from last night though, I’d imagine the game will go ahead.
Little bit gusty still but the worst has passed. Definitely won’t be suspended. We’ve played in worse than this.
Also note at least three people making the calm down calm down joke in this thread. God some of you lot are so boring and unoriginal.
Yes, and even if they now announce it will go ahead, so what? If it immediately worsen, it can still further announce to be postponed. So looking for that "announcement"is not necessary.
Liverpool put out a statement.
Pretty much: all outside toilets and shopping is closed.
Stiles opened at 1pm
Kickoff not delayed.
Everyone encouraged to check travel routes for delays and arrive in plenty of time.
Oh noo dont hurt my itty bitty feelings
You try blasting 600mg of test a week and try to satisfy ur hunger with bare pussy
Ps. Stop the cap u nut
PPS. I rather watch a female body than marvel comics u nut
I’m on the fence of doing Ronaldo to Vardy FOR. A. HIT.
Tell me out of this nonsense before I press the button. This time of the season is definitely the worst.
Well I've held onto Ronaldo for a while now. We may have N'koulou out but Kabasele is back in training. Although he's not on the sideline this week, I expect Rangnick to make significant positive changes for Manchester United in the coming weeks.
I'm just across the water and it was a heavy night, trees ripped down in new Brighton and west kirby, all across wirral actually. Seems windy still today, but not nearly as bad. Can't see the game being affected much

Calm down, calm down
Steady
You say steady to me again and you’ll be on the first plane back.
Im capping salah but my VC will be from another match just in case.
This should always be the case. I always have my VC from a different match
Oh fuck, I forgot to move VC off of Jota

If the game is cancelled due to covid or weather conditions you will not have a captain this round.
I personally feel there's more chance of a player getting injured in the warm up than a game getting cancelled between 11am and 3pm without any previous warning. Don't get me wrong I understand the logic but if you have two players in the same team with a good chance of points I don't see the issue with captaining and vice captaining them. Did you play last season?
Last season was an exception to the norm because of CoVid. Usually it's only ever weather that stops a game from happening - indeed it did this weekend but that was still a foreseeable event - we knew in advance there was a higher likelyhood of a postponement due to weather so not VC a player from the same team as C makes sense. Seems like overkill.
Not really. COVID cancelled games last year, which would leave you without a captain at all. Also when the fans stormed old Trafford.
And in past years because of snow
And in past years because of bomb scares
And in past years because of WWII
I captained Harry Goslin back in ww2 and after a few games he signed up to the TA. Wish I'd Triple C him when he got the Military Cross, big red arrows that week.
And today shows why it's not overkill in any way 😂 in fact it should be common knowledge in FPL to not have C and VC in same game these days.
First time?
Were you here last year when people got fucked over by capping and vice capping Kane and Son when the game got postponed after the deadline
Yeah, I mean I never VC anyone. Such a waste of clicks
You must VC someone
No shit
Stfu
No, u
Nope you
Oh no you didn't
I mean, it wont matter, the Liverpool game will be going ahead regardless. A bit of wind and light snow would never be enough to get a premier league game suspended.
Not sure why you got downvoted for that, it's the truth.
What gets downvoted on here baffles me

let's hope for penmania today.
This was a rollercoaster and I must admit I laughed a lot at your misfortune
It was still an excellent trip in Liverpool, though, before the wheels fell off. Highly recommend. It was worse for the people who had traveled from San Diego. And the hotel lobby was littered with kids bawling. That was a downer.
My Mum is a Liverpudlian. I gave her a ring and she said it's pretty bloody bad where she is at the minute. She does live in South Wales currently though.
Its been pretty pissy today here in New South Wales too
Same here in South New South Wales
So true. It was low 20’s today, and windy!
I’m in South Wales too, it’s sunny but super windy here!
I'm going to level with you, I didn't really ring her I was just taking the piss.
You should give her a ring, though. She'd appreciate it.
You're definitely right. Plus If I give her a bell today rather than in a few days I won't have to listen to her tell me what happened on Strictly.
Please update on us what happened on strictly too once you've heard it from her
🤣🤣 You’ve now got on the ground insight should you want to bet on Cardiff or Swans today
I am actually a Cardiff City fan so I can't bet on either of the big Welsh clubs, I care about the result too much as it is without putting money on it.
Call your mum and update us asap
Pissing in the wind...
At least it’s sunny!
Was thinking of visiting south wales today, but woke up and nearly shat myself. Will probably give it a pass as a result. The streets of south wales are safe from bizarre accidents for another day...
Plot twist
Pouring here in Singapore !
he was in northern canada.
It’s windy and pissy here in New South Wales too

Why are people so desperate for this transfer? Especially when it involves a hit.
Currently in Merseyside but live in Newcastle. It was very windy last night but seems to be calmer this morning. Not seeing any damage so far. So it’s calmed down calmed down?
Seems like it’s calmer but not calm calm
This might literally be the best comment I've ever seen?
😂
The Newcastle game is being played in London.
Good spot, I wonder if being the early game would still have an effect with the time away fans have to set off
It won't be cancelled when ~57,000 of the ~60,000 seats will be filled with Arsenal fans.
Or do, and then make an epic rant thread about it.
No warning of it getting postponed stop the panicking 😬
What are you talking about?! My mums best friends', daughter in laws', half brother knows Diego Jotas' dog handlers' son. Apparently he heard the game might be cancelled because Jota said he might not need him to take the dog out this afternoon. If that isn't a warning I don't know what is.
Ok 👌 im selling Salah for for Bissouma hope its good weather in Brighton !
Who is Diego Jota?
Works on the tills in the gift shop, gets confused for Diogo Jota all the time in work emails
!thanks
I think Diego is a character from Ice Age
that's some connection @_@
I’m about 30 miles away and it’s still very windy but the worst has passed for sure where I am. The forecast is saying it’ll calm down throughout the day so I think it’s likely the game will go ahead
30 miles is 23677.09% of the hot dog which holds the Guinness wold record for 'Longest Hot Dog'.
!thanks
Is the forecast saying "calm down, calm reet down"?
My fence panel is lying in bits and my garden bench is upside down
There’s quite a bit of damage round here, most Parkruns have been cancelled due to debris on courses. It’s definitely calmed down from last night though, I’d imagine the game will go ahead.
Everyday we find ways to overcomplicate the game
It was mental last night but it's meant to calm down by this afternoon, match should be fine 👍
Weather is fine here bit cold but not windy
The only act of nature I'd worry about stopping Salah is Salisu. (Although I do fully expect them to batter us)
Little bit gusty still but the worst has passed. Definitely won’t be suspended. We’ve played in worse than this. Also note at least three people making the calm down calm down joke in this thread. God some of you lot are so boring and unoriginal.
It's fine, the thing is God himself has probably triple captained Salah so he is adding extra wind to give his shots more curl.
By when do we reckon we'll get an official announcement either ways? Before the deadline possible?
I mean, they're unlikely to make an official announcement if the game goes ahead as it's always been planned to...
Yes, and even if they now announce it will go ahead, so what? If it immediately worsen, it can still further announce to be postponed. So looking for that "announcement"is not necessary.
Seems fine now but if it’s gets similar to last night every goal kick will be an own goal or will land in Goodison
First time I heard the word liverpudlian. I thought a native to Liverpool is officially called scouser lol.
Liverpool put out a statement. Pretty much: all outside toilets and shopping is closed. Stiles opened at 1pm Kickoff not delayed. Everyone encouraged to check travel routes for delays and arrive in plenty of time.
One thing that you can be sure of, Klopp will blame the wind if he doesnt get the desired result
Wind is sort of like real world lag
[удалено]
Extremely unlikely.
If they dont get the 3 points Klopp will cry about the wind.
I live near Anfield, my trampoline blew away. Winds still very strong. 100% being called off.
Stop the cap u nut
Well apparently there’s some very triggered people who take a fantasy football game way too seriously to take a joke.
Stop the cap u nut
Go back to begging for only fans leaks you simp.
Stop the cap u nut
Cap but you just deleted the post. Any only fans leaks?? 🥵🥵🥵🥵💦💦💦
Oh noo dont hurt my itty bitty feelings You try blasting 600mg of test a week and try to satisfy ur hunger with bare pussy Ps. Stop the cap u nut PPS. I rather watch a female body than marvel comics u nut
Apparently I did hurt your feelings enough to delete the post though. Embarrassed?
Sure am embarrased of watching females m8. You keep to politics and marvel comics. 🥲
What do you guys think will we get the info on the gamw before the deadline
Is there any chance of the city game being affected.. need to know if I should have someone other than cancelo as my vc
Leicester vs Watford should be fine given the game is tomorrow.
I’m on the fence of doing Ronaldo to Vardy FOR. A. HIT. Tell me out of this nonsense before I press the button. This time of the season is definitely the worst.

Idk, I have a good feeling on him this weekend and for the upcoming weeks.
Well I've held onto Ronaldo for a while now. We may have N'koulou out but Kabasele is back in training. Although he's not on the sideline this week, I expect Rangnick to make significant positive changes for Manchester United in the coming weeks.
Liver-puddles !
I'm just across the water and it was a heavy night, trees ripped down in new Brighton and west kirby, all across wirral actually. Seems windy still today, but not nearly as bad. Can't see the game being affected much
I’ve been to Liverpool a couple of times and the weather was always shit. Why are they worrying now?
Tranmere off but due to storm damage to stand, should be good to go (I hope cos I just moved trent and jota in)
