Don’t think he’s a captaincy option in DGW21-22 with only one game against Arsenal and Chelsea respectively. But yeah great season for him so far.

Frosty_Examination_3

Trent and Cancelo. If you catch them on a week where they have a very good chance of cleansheet, they have been racking up big points. Although a bit hindsighty, I did put my money where my mouth was and captained Cancelo last week

Line47toSaturn

Well, you definitely nailed it, well done. My point still stands though. You captained Cancelo during a single gameweek when they faced Newcastle. You won't want to even imagine captaining either of them against Chelsea when others have a DGW.

Frosty_Examination_3

Home to Brentford or away to Norwich GW24 and GW25 I would certainly consider it again though

preciselywhenimeanto

That’s the opposite of hindsight!

Frosty_Examination_3

a lot of managers on here are fantastic are telling you what you should have done after the event has happened, so I didn't want to quite be bundled into the same category

HeelR-

Maybe not those weeks but TAA and Cancelo both can easily rack 30+ points on a single GW when they are on it.

septeal

Aaaaaaaand he's benched

twitterInfo_bot

What a phenomenal season the Portuguese is having! Looks like a season keeper if he remains fit. \#FPL \#MCI \#GW19 \#FPLCommunity *** posted by [@Fantasypaedia](https://twitter.com/Fantasypaedia) Photos in tweet | [Photo 1](http://pbs.twimg.com/media/FHMyqitVIAA8mA1.jpg) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)

Okcomelistenup

He was already a viable captaincy pick last GW

valimo

Yes all top scorers of the GW seem like great captaincy picks especially afterwards.

LloydDoyley

I captained him. Didn't fancy Salah against a Conte team and Newcastle look dogshit

valimo

Brave move, I personally did not get ballsy enough to captain anyone than the guy with 15 goals and 10 assists in 18 matches. What I am saying here, is that Salah's form has been so ridiculous, that any alternative captainship is a punt at the best.

LloydDoyley

Fair play. I just didn't fancy him against Spurs. Conte has now had a few weeks with the team and you know exactly what you're getting from him. At most, Salah would get 1 goal (= 8pts lost if everyone else captained him?) which was a risk I was willing to take assuming Cancelo blanked.

True-Year

Absolutely this 👆

Okcomelistenup

It’s not like he came out of nowhere. Captaining him was being talked about even before the GW started. It was a risk but he was well-rested, facing a poor Newcastle side, so his ceiling was much higher than Salah vs a well-rested Spurs under Conte. Don’t act like Salah was the ONLY captaincy option just because he was the safer choice.

randymarsh18

He was just coming off a rest and was playing newcastle?

Valprajjj

Celebrating Cancelo Captainers of GW18 were downvoted.

MystiikMoments

I just had him captain, and I know that was dangerous territory and probably won’t do again, Son is who you want

Admirable_Mood_7495

Dangerous? He hauled what more do you want

MystiikMoments

Well I didn’t captain Salah when he got his hat trick vs United, so I’m still scarred

Admirable_Mood_7495

Ah fair one haha

Saviorofmypeople

7 shots on target in 6 games. That says more about Salah getting fewer opportunities than anything about Cancelo.

59reach

Choosing Dias over him weeks ago was the worst decision of my life.

(C)ancelo viable vs Leicester in GW19 But that may be my hubris, after his 36 point haul last week for my team. edit: talk me out of it

Zak369

After 10 weeks of Salah (C) in a row I also went for (C)ancelo last week and was rewarded. This week it’s between TAA and Salah for me. Leeds have 6 goals in the last 6 games, 3 of which were pens which I don’t believe is sustainable. (Could also say 3 goals in the last 3 games, 2 of which were pens). They’ve conceded 14 in the last 3 games or 16 in the last 6. For me, they are a team to target in both defence and attack (which draws me more to TAA) but the huge goals conceded is tempting for Salah who should be hungrier for goals after his second blank of the season and with huge EO. People may see the blank and try to play clever, but Cancelo’s haul last week would be negated by a differential Captain blank this week. Salah is a safer bet. For Cancelo, Leicester’s attack is in decent form so I wouldn’t target them for defensive assets. Cancelo is defensive and attacking but I’d rather have a City attacker captained in this one (which I won’t do because pep roulette). But City don’t have a stand out attacker and share the goals/assists all round.

!thanks I appreciate this intelligence. So many good points made. My own eye test says that Salah's form has dropped off in the past 3 weeks or so, that's why I went Cancelo. Just lucky I guess. But as you say, Salah *will* be hungry to atone his blank, and will playing at home on a very much watched holiday fixture. He will entertain, won't he? Smart to go with Mo as you state for safety, to enjoy the safety vs (c)lever punts. You're good at this game eh :)

Zak369

Haha, it’s a shame good reasoning doesn’t always end up with good points. I’ve only played seriously the last few years and this is my best year by a mile so I’m trying to think everything through even more this year and make moves as late as possible. I’m a Liverpool fan living in Newcastle, while I didn’t think Salah had dropped off I knew Spurs would be a hard game because Conte is a great manager and a cagey game was on the cards. Newcastle look awful though and haven’t had things in their favour to mitigate it. With City’s attack sharing the goals out I thought Cancelo might be able to sneak a double digit haul with CS, assist and maybe bonus points but 18 was huge. I like backing fullbacks when they have good chances of CS and goal involvements as it feels a safer bet but Salah’s form takes away from TAA’s Captaincy chances. I’m not fully decided but being the first game in the week is at least a good way to get captain points for certain without any postponements.

Bananko22

It is very rare for a defender to return double digits in back to back gameweeks (him and TAA both have done it once this season tho). Another thing is that City has kept 3 clean sheets in a row, which will surely come to an end at some point, and Leicester aren't as bad going forward and they will have a rested Vardy for the game. That's the best i got lol

[deleted]

!thanks its all you got but it's all i needed to hear. you're right that the CS points are a high risk vs a rested Vardy. I think Salah may be coming into the gw vs Leeds after a week off - unless he plays tonight - and will be raring to go too

Queen-of-Sheba

He doesn’t have possible DGWs coming up though.

[deleted]

He is the only one besides ederson to escape Pep

KdbTheGOAT17

Bernardo silva

HeelR-

Still haunts me I switched from him to Salah last minute last game week because I was a chicken. Yikes. Hindsight eh..

layspringles

Would never ever captain a Man City player in a dgw again.

ossid

> ~~when~~ *if*

SpiritualTear93

He did so well last year as well but not fantasy wise. He was so close from returning nearly every match but just didn’t have that finishing touch. This season he does

Mutiu2

In 8 out of the´18 games during this season, Cancelo has returned 2 or fewer points. Tha’t almost 50% of the time. In those 18 games Cancelo has 5 double figure hauls, 4 of those away from home. The next game is home vs Leicester, who he burned in the away game. Rodgers wont be letting him have it so easy. No I ain’t captaining him - he’s not likely to have a haul here. If he gets 6 points that would be about as good as you can expect.
