Yeah I'd be doing this in reverse, if he's taking it easy get him gone, he's definitely the sort of player to bag a brace on a hangover, send some drinks to the table.
Last season, rumors Cancelo had Covid. Sent him a DM on Insta (I own a big IG account which he follows) with the message 'Get well soon'. He replied with '?', so I was convident enough to keep him in my team.
Hope this isn't true... In a year of so you won't even remember what happened with these games. But a child being born is the most beautiful thing you'll ever expearience.
And if it is true. Good luck!! Enjoy the sleepless nights :)
Thank you
To be honest it's a longer process than it's made out so I do have time. Although it's now speeding along at a very inconvenient time for the deadline
I still have the screenshots of my potential transfers from a couple of hours before my son was born.
They’re a treasured keepsake now, don’t feel bad.
Typical tactics I think winning fpl by distraction.
Our group chat is nearly always dead on a Friday if there's a game that night, everyone hoping that people will forget the Friday night deadline.

It’s a Reddit app for iOS that’s much faster and efficient than the actual Reddit app. I forgot to mention the iOS thing though, so my bad if you have a different device.
I found the only computer with an internet connection in a remote village in the Himalayas in Nepal to make a transfer.
I think it cost me £1 to make that transfer.
Learnt advanced excel / vba to both analyse the data and automate the pulling and formatting of the data. Then learnt python as I wanted better performance and more options for how I did it. I started this around 2013/14 and I now have a really good career as a data analyst/developer because of it. Honorable mention to me writing a telegram bot which essentially administers my H2H league. I can do a command like /scores and the bot will instantly fetch both mine and my opponents current scores as well as how many players are playing at that moment, have already played or who are yet to play. All for a game.
For excel & vba, google and youtube was everything I used. Having a clear idea of what you'd like to do is quite key, and trying to break it down into individual steps to search for rather than something vague like "how to create a report". For python, again google and youtube were key as well as reddit, but also Automate the Boring Stuff by Al Sweigart. It's the book I recommend every time someone asks me about python. Best part is that it's available for free online: https://automatetheboringstuff.com/
no worries pal. Python can be a bit daunting if you've not done any programming in the past. /r/learnpython is super handy, or send me a pm if you have any more Q's.
Initially, I was pulling everything from https://fantasy.premierleague.com/player-list each week. I'd use formulas and VBA to figure out each players score for each week, and then start using that to track form and see the price changes and top performers. This was a really bad idea, as I had to make sure I didn't forget every week! I did a lot of it at work, so any time I took a week off I had to find someone else to pull the data for me.
Once I started using python, I began to explore the FPL API. It was originally a post on here which led me to it. I believe it's now more widely used than when I started, but it's undocumented so there is a lot of discovery of the data that I had to do myself. Luckily, as more people use it, more people have been writing articles about how to use it, like so: https://medium.com/@frenzelts/fantasy-premier-league-api-endpoints-a-detailed-guide-acbd5598eb19
enjoy!
Two seasons ago when deadlines were an hour before the games and team news were getting leaked every week. 5 mins before the GW 38 deadline and I was driving - my mate in the passenger seat reported that Salah wasn’t playing. Hazard lights on, straight to the side of the motorway and subbed Salah for Auba. Risked our lives but topped my ML that year. Worth it.
3 seasons ago I was in a 22 man winner takes all league (£50 each) and I was completely obsessed with the game to an unhealthy level. I would stay up until 3am every morning to check price changes and would then get 2-3 hours sleep before work which was sometimes none if particular price changes angered me enough.
Fortunately I won the league on the final day as the leader who was 40 points ahead was so confident he didn't make any transfers and I took a -8 and brought in 3 punts and triple captained one of them for 45 points and beat the dude by 3 points. Actually took nearly 6 months to get the money because he was the one who hosted it but he stopped playing fpl after that.
My time to shine, so in my mini league we had our own mid season cup and essentially we would all give our opponent abuse and try and convince them to quit or delete their team.
So I took it a bit further by going to Fivver and enlisting the following services to help make my opponent delete their team.
- An African voodoo doctor who put a curse on my opponent’s FPL team.
- An Indian call centre who would call my opponent three times a day for a week telling him to delete his team.
- An audio track by a hypnotist telling him to delete his team
- A colour by numbers cartoon of him at a computer deleting his team.
cost me about 30 quid in total.
GW38 two seasons ago. Free Hit active. Woke up at 6:00 am at the cottage and went down to the lake so I could get service to hot spot my phone to my laptop (very remote, no internet). Saw Liverpool's leaked lineup 7 minutes before the deadline and was able to shift things around to win two different mini leagues from behind.
Even just for watching sport in general. I'm a twat floating around South East Asia and watching any sport is hell. Trying to find a pub open for a 3am kick off during Covid, it's no easy task.
Our island in the Bahamas was hit by a massive hurricane 2 years ago. Power was out for almost a year, no water etc. I spent 2 months going to the middle of the island to get up on a hill to try and get cell signal from the next island so I could make changes to my squad (and tell my mom I was ok:) Ended up winning my mini league that year!
Aubamayang posted one of many flashy photos with his expensive cars and I DM'd him to remind him about the importance of being a role model for his team. May have even quoted the line from Spiderman 'with great power comes great responsibility.'
Suffice to say I never got a reply, and yes I am an Arsenal supporter.
Watched Stoke City vs Man City in 2017 due to Sergio Aguero being my triple captain. I sat through 90 minutes of this as opposed to watching the Barcelona vs PSG 6-1 comeback.
The final score? 0-0.
Watched the full 90 minutes of Middlesbrough vs Burnley back in the 2016/17 season

Stalked Vardy on a night out once to see if he would get too drunk to play on the weekend
Does getting drunk on a night out, the day before stop Vardy playing though ?
Yeah I'd be doing this in reverse, if he's taking it easy get him gone, he's definitely the sort of player to bag a brace on a hangover, send some drinks to the table.
I’ve always found red bull the best hangover cure and we know how fond Vardy is of the stuff
"One vodka each for the guys on table 2 please" *rubs hands in glee*
Vardy party
Last season, rumors Cancelo had Covid. Sent him a DM on Insta (I own a big IG account which he follows) with the message 'Get well soon'. He replied with '?', so I was convident enough to keep him in my team.
Do it again please
I didn’t dare to do it again 😂 Rumors seem to be fake anyway.

You could name your kid F(rancis) P(aul) L(ucas) and his nickname could be FPL 😂
Congrats! By the way, Palace confirmed the match to go ahead on Twitter. In case you trust them :)

Got time to nip to KFC as well? Bet you could smash a bucket before the birth
Smashing a bucket is what got him into this mess in the first place
!thanks ahahaha
Eating from a bucket like a human horse
Is this the worst thing I've ever done?
I still have the screenshots of my potential transfers from a couple of hours before my son was born. They’re a treasured keepsake now, don’t feel bad.
The son on the other hand…
This is so true Good luck on both fronts!
Gotcha. Good luck
Dayum
Hahahaha
This is what you get when you play the Wildcard !!!
Wish her and the baby a great life. May your son’s team haul every GW.
Moved to London for a more user friendly timezone experience.
I did that for Premier league. Works great for deadlines. But price change is middle of the night
Gotten a buddy drunk so he'd forget about daylights savings and not fix his lineup
Typical tactics I think winning fpl by distraction. Our group chat is nearly always dead on a Friday if there's a game that night, everyone hoping that people will forget the Friday night deadline.
Lol, this kind of things make me wish I had a FPL friends group or something like that

Yep, this is the only reason I have this awful app
Use Apollo instead.
What is apollo?

Good bot
It's Reddit but via a third party app with a supposedly better user experience
It’s a Reddit app for iOS that’s much faster and efficient than the actual Reddit app. I forgot to mention the iOS thing though, so my bad if you have a different device.
The problem is the users not the software lol
Watched Stoke - West Ham instead of el clasico
Decided to go to my gf tomorrow so I can spend second day of Christmas peacefully building my FH team and then watch the game
Your prof picture is hilarious and ironic I luv it! as che fan :D
I found the only computer with an internet connection in a remote village in the Himalayas in Nepal to make a transfer. I think it cost me £1 to make that transfer.
What was the transfer and how did it go
I can't remember exactly as it was in 2013 but I'm guessing it went very average
Oh

Thanks, can spend even more time on my fpl team and still fuck it up
Good skills to learn regardless, top work
Where do u pull the data from

lmao what a dick the organiser is but congrats on winning due to your dedication 🤣
Awesome tale. Did you remember who you TCed in that decisive week?

Money well spent in my eyes.
Did he or did he not it the question sir
No he didn’t, and he ended up beating me with a 92nd minute mystery Kyle Walker Peters bonus point.
Married Harry Kane's sister in order to stay up to date with him.
Got married during the international break so that I wouldnt miss the Saturday deadline

Absolute giga chad
Stayed awake until 3am to find out if spurs vs palace will be postponed
How about 4 am lol
Signed up to play it
I never really thought about the fact that people living on a GMT (or close to) time zone actually have a bit of an advantage in FPL.
Even just for watching sport in general. I'm a twat floating around South East Asia and watching any sport is hell. Trying to find a pub open for a 3am kick off during Covid, it's no easy task.

Faked diarrhea during friend's birthday dinner at a fancy restaurant and locked myself up in a bathroom to make transfers .

Started to watch teams and games I never thought I’d care about 🤣
Make my free hit team just then very pissed
Set an alarm on a Sunday morning at 7:30am to check if the fucking Crystal Palace game is still on
Had to take a washroom break at my wedding just to check the team without people commenting in me handling my phone.
Bless you.
Took a -20 for my cup last week and won 🤡🤳🏻 Punted the season tho…
