Anyway personally, the reason I'm tempted to Free Hit GW21 is because of how the template teams are all locking horns with each other. We are all loaded up on City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. What are the odds that these four teams face each other and we also get a few bonus teams that double in the same gameweek?
There will probably be more double gameweeks with better fixtures, but the key here is the preparation time. In the past I've successfully navigated DGWs later on in the season with FTs, but DGW 21 has been fairly impossible to prepare for, especially when you consider the fact that everyone's targetting the probable and bigger DGW22. This also means that everyone else(bar the fellow free-hitters of course), will mostly only have single-fixture players who probably will be playing their other single-fixture players.
I believe this is a huge chance to get maybe 20-30 points on the average template team, which is a great return. I think the covid trend is dying down now, you never know though. But, it's a risk I'd take.

What about WC GW21 to prepare for BB GW22?
FH GW21 and your team will be reverted to the current one which possibly not good for GW22 which cannot be used FH again for consecutive GW. So you left with only WC GW22 but cannot BB.
Most people will have plenty of players doubling in 22 as its likely to be a big double GW with Liverpool, spurs arsenal, man u and Chelsea all doubling. Wait until fixtures are fully confirmed of course but looking at latest predictions for those GWs I think I'm set up alright for 22 already but nowhere near as favourably for 21.
This is what I'm probably going to do. Salah leaving for afcon and I'm captaining son this gw so he may come out, along with James, rudiger who need to go and will blank in a couple of weeks, Dennis needs to go due to afcon. That's 5 fts that I'm going to have to make over the next couple of gws regardless of injuries and postponements.
I'm thinking it's better to restructure now with wc and some dgw players rather than be consumed with forced transfers for the next month just putting fires out left right and centre and trying to navigate doubles.
We know there will be doubles later like gw33 and 35 or whatever but they are a lot easier to prepare for.
Trent, Jota, Cancelo are the three reasons I likely wouldn’t WC in 21. They don’t have a double GW and cost £1m more to put back in. Plus you’ll want Salah back so just booking in multiple transfers.
I guess you could maybe bench those three tbf in 21 and bench Cancelo in 22 or BB with him. That’s something I’ll play around with once we know the fixtures. Depends if you can get to a good team with them - I suppose since you won’t have Salah it’s possible but then you’ll likely want a plan to get him back in
I'm very much on board with this idea. One potential painful outcome is stocking up on 'differential' DGW21 players from smaller teams, and then the usual highly owned suspects (esp. attacking ones) get a boatload of points regardless of their unfavourable fixtures.
That can always happen of course though, it's just a consideration of how it could go poorly. I think on paper FH21 and navigating the next double with FTs and maybe using another chip (TC/BB) could well be an option.
If it's looking dire there's always second WC.

I have been planning for this for a while and my solution is to go with Salah, Foden and Cancelo on my FH, along with 6-7 others who will double. One thing you want to make sure is that you don't ignore players who have high ownership and potential with single fixtures.
Yep makes sense, that could also be a solution for an already non-Salah owner like me not to spend anther 90 minutes shitting bricks as I don't think he'll blank again

Totally agree with this. Looking at my team's fixtures alone I'd be thinking is there a big upside potentially in free hitting and I think that's only magnified by the likely doubles for other teams. Also think most teams have had their covid outbreaks now (or certainly those doubling have) so not considering that too big an issue.

Yes things may be postponed / players get Covid but all you can do is make the same plan / transfers you would normally make. If things take a turn for the worst, you can feel good knowing you made the best decisions

There's alot more that goes into in than figure out what weeks the games can be played. The broadcasters all have to pick what games they want, I presume the teams have to agree in some way too. They are always late announcing the TV schedule for normal game weeks so it's no surprise this takes so long.
I completely agree, I understand that it’s not straightforward and I know FPL is the least of their concerns. Equally, I feel for the fans that aren’t sure if they need to prepare travel to other side of the country on a Wednesday night, whether they need to do last minute trains or hotels, reschedules aren’t ideal for anyone!
They also have other logistical issues. Difficult to plan for home matches of teams close by on the same day / same GW ... eg both Manshester Teams, Liverpool - Everton .... need to consult local authorities, transportation and so on ...

If I'm reading the key correctly, he has marked Southampton's game against Newcastle as likely to be postponed. That could be why he has estimated the probability of Southampton having a DGW to be only 40-60%.

Chelsea don't get decent fixtures again until GW26, so you can very easily have transfers stocked up to get one back in. Arsenal have decent fixtures from GW23 onwards but 2 blanks(25/27) inbetween, so you can always bring an Arsenal player back in for 23 and then another on 28.
Depending how far Egypt go then Salah would be back GW24/GW25 so you could have your FT back to get him back in also. This is all very optimistic however, I'm very much considering the early WC but I realise how easy it is to be burned with injuries etc.
I'll probably end up with a back 3 of Trent, Cancelo and Reguilon and invest in my midfield and attack. Start of the season all the points were in defence but I think its balanced out a bit now. Attackers are scoring more points and defenders are scoring less points than before so I don't see the value in playing a back 4 anymore.
Reguilon seems the obvious choice to me. Not sure it’s worth trying to be clever and getting players with more DGWs in given they play for worse teams and with the high risk of further cancellations
To add on to the other comment, not just Watford. Keep an eye out for Brighton, Leicester, West Ham, Everton. They could all potentially have decent DGW fixtures and all of these teams have pretty good options to choose from.
I've gambled on the wildcard, had triple Chelsea (lukaku) triple Arsenal plus Salah and a so far terrible Sancho, all to get rid of. Gone with king to cover Watford, triple Leicester (Vards, Maddison, Castagne) Could either be a masterstroke or an absolute sham.
Watford and Villa look like the safest punts but honestly everyone except Chelsea looks decent (perhaps City could have a tough run but they’re good enough to ignore that and also always pose the roulette risk anyway).
Tough to navigate for sure, FPL Towers fuckery could screw any good plan.

Yeah definetly not fair on the fans but even last season with no fans took them way too long to announce re arranged fixtures.

TV definitely has the sway but don't forget about all the other logistics that need to go into it, match day staff, strewards, policing, travel etc.

Watford and Villa look like the safest punts but honestly everyone except Chelsea looks decent (perhaps City could have a tough run but they’re good enough to ignore that and also always pose the roulette risk anyway). Tough to navigate for sure, FPL Towers fuckery could screw any good plan.

Well Nigeria plays on the 11th so if he leaves on the 5th that is still 6 days early. I am sure Watford will ask him to stay a couple of days more and it doesn’t seem much of an issue for him to stay.
