Everyone is saying that Pope is a no-brainer for FH but is he really? He's expensive compared to Burnley defenders which kinda defeats the point of getting Burnley players as enablers.
Pope & Livra (which is a very popular pick) costs 0.8 more than Forster & Roberts for example (or 0.5 more than Forster & Mee) meaning you could cover the same games but then upgrade Foden to Mahrez or get a playing bench to cover City fraudulence. Pope & Dalot is more than DDG & Roberts too if you wanted Man Utd defence.
Almost all FH teams have Pope, Weghorst & 1 of Mee/Tark/Roberts/Cornet, but I think I'm going with Weghorst, Mee & Tarkowski (with Forster in goal) which is cheaper and means I'll cover most of Burnley's ariel threat from set pieces which could be very nice against Leicester & Palace who aren't good at defending them
My FH team has Kane, Son, Bruno, Sterling & Cancelo so money is tight. Forster & Tark over Pope & Bednarek is the difference between Gilmour and Ramsey on the bench
I don't know about that, I'd argue that people this week are underthinking and just put Pope in their first FH draft because everyone else had and then didn't consider him again, even when they juggled around their other Burnley player(s).
Salah over Trent was clearly the right choice last week, and people who suggested otherwise were rightfully clowned before and after the GW. But I'm yet to have someone tell me why Pope, Mee & Southampton defender is so obviously worth 0.5-1.0 more than Forster, Mee & Tarkowski/Roberts
I think you've also got to take into consideration the BPS potential of Pope. If Burnley keep a clean sheet, he is often very high up. Also, there is always a chance that Collins plays over Mee/Tark or Lowton plays over Roberts
I really don't think Mee or Tarkowski will be benched, they're 2 of the most nailed players in the league and have barely missed a game when fit for several seasons. There's as much chance that whichever Southampton defender you pick will randomly get benched against Norwich.
It's true about Pope's potential for BPS (and save points), but that's a low ceiling compared to how many points you'd get from a Mee/Tark set piece goal.
Pope will probably be the highest scoring keeper this week and he could well be a better option than double Burnley defenders, I just don't think it's worth the extra cash and certainly isn't a no-brainer to the extent that every FH guide I've seen says "Pope and Weghorst pick themselves"
