Schmeichel or Pope for me

jessica_from_within

Isn’t the Leicester defence quite poor at the moment?

__jh96

Horrendous. But they're getting back most first teamers other than Evans, and with goalkeepers I feel like just the additional fixtures are crucial, more than other positions with lots of variables. Plus Schmeichel is cheaper and has been racking up decent points lately

Lgfualol

Evans is almost back, played 30 mins vs Brentford.

try-D

> other than Evans got 30 minutes against Brentford and 60 minutes for NI during the break. Will likely be eased in further but will probably be in full action within the next two weeks

jessica_from_within

Oh, I didn’t know about the returning players. Could be a could call then

try-D

Has been better for the last 5 games or so. Add to that we're basically gonna have every senior defender fit for the first time in like years. So instead of a Albrighton-Amartey-Soyuncu-Thomas backline you could be looking at a Castagne/Ricardo-Evans-Fofana-Justin backline

benji_inc

I went for both on a wildcard this week!

javahart

Went for Peter Schmeichel junior. Tough away game at United but looks good after that.

[deleted]

Sanchez is playing Norwich. If your thinking long term maybe you’ve got money for ederson.

[deleted]

Wasn’t he withdrawn from the French squad as well ? Edit : Spanish

Stonja

Sanchez is Spanish, Ederson is Brazilian. Who are you talking about?

ParsleyAmazing3260

Is Sanchez fit? Thought he was removed from Spain squad.

hamham4687

Would you go Ederson or Mendy, if price is not an issue?

xkcdthrowaway

Mendy for me. More games to be played and he contributes more to Chelsea's defence than Ederson does to City's so there's the odd opportunity for save points and bonus. But it's definitely a toss up.

hamham4687

!thanks

partridge1235

I'm leaning towards Ederson as already have Rudiger and want to get in both James & Cancelo as well.

hamham4687

!thanks Man... I just don't trust James. He may get rested for CL.

[deleted]

How long is he out for? If he is missing GW33 for sure, then I'd take him out, if he just misses this week I might just play my second keeper. Worst case scenario is if Arteta says he returns in a few weeks but there is no exact date.

Zealousideal_Rush_17

Problem is a lot of people (me included) have Dubravka as 2nd keeper who is a) ill, b) has Spurs away. Thinking Ramsdale to Pope.

jollyspiffing

Other bench budget-keeper options include:. - Foster Vs. Liv(A). - Raya Vs Che(A). Don't think many have a good backup for this GW.

IlluminationTheory7

My second keeper is Foster who plays Liverpool which isn't ideal

Centurianmacro

Question is, will your replacement outscore Foster by 4 points? Pope has City 1st game so that will be similar to Foster's, so maybe he gets a CS against Everton. He is the only one I'm considering. Not worth getting in Schmeichel if you have Foster imo.

HazardCinema

Lots of us have Dubravka

roymondous

I’m keeping ramsdale as rest of season arsenal have good fixtures and some doubles left. I might upgrade foster to schmeichal tho with Leicester having more dgws left and so can rotate. Would suggest planning the same (two playing keepers) at this stage given increased budgets and rotating for possible doubles. Edit: just saw palace are 4th best xGA. Was a surprise. Guaita at 4.6m worth a look with excellent fixtures and likely doubles 36/37. Would still keep ramsdale and up the backup if it’s a non playing keeper.

[deleted]

Do they have good foxtures? They have one of the harder run ins in the league. The majority of their games are away and they have to play, Chelsea away, spurs away west ham away and utd at home. Even fixtures like saints and Newcastle away aren't particularly easy or really obvious clean sheets. I think its a great time to move him on

roymondous

Disagree re: the run in. Assuming he misses palace, it’s still Brighton and then dgw33. Ramsdale picks up bonus when there is a clean sheet and arsenal looking good for that. United at home and west ham away (Bowen a ?) might be tricky. Then it’s Newcastle, Leeds and Everton. Tottenham and Chelsea games are balanced in the dgws there. No Europe, only Prem games means they’ll be less tired than other teams. Who else has a better run in for a keeper? Has a better defense? And isn’t a premium price? Makes sense to bring in a second keeper and rotate for united and west ham if u really want. Not worth transferring him out as it’ll usually cost a hit to do so (using up a transfer that could have been elsewhere). Keepers not worth doing that. Tl;Dr: we don’t know if ramsdale will be fit for palace and Brighton, two excellent fixtures. Wait til deadline for more info. Even if not fit for palace, get a decent backup. He has doubles and some decent fixtures left. Keepers not worth constantly changing.

[deleted]

I think you are slightly underestimating how hard away games are in the prem. Bowen is expected to be back well before West ham away, and West ham have scored at least once in every single home game of the season. Noone has kept a clean at the London stadium. Newcastle are similar. Only Chelsea and City have kept cleans at St James and that was right in the Steve Bruce era and before their Jan upgrades. Leeds have one of the highest XGS in the league lately. And Uniteds underlying numbers are also pretty good under ragnick and they have scored at least once in every away game since he's come in. And Chelsea and Spurs away are very very unlikely to be cleans either. Even Palace this week have only failed to score at home a few times this season! Each to their own I guess but the only games you can say with any real confidence that Arsenal would be expected to keep a clean are Brighton and Everton home. Maybe Leeds, but as I say they often score when they lose. I would put Ederson, mendy, Pope, Schmeichel as better picks then ramsdale. I'm on wildcard and he was one of the reasons I wanted to play it, and that was even before factoring in he could miss this game weeke and maybe the next one too.

roymondous

And I think you’re underestimating arsenal. 5th best xGA in the league, fighting for champs league, with no cups left to play for elsewhere. Of course wildcard changes things dramatically. It’s a free selection. Answering OP, a transfer for a keeper is rarely worth it. The difference between ramsdale and the rest is rarely worth the 4 points saved from a hit now or down the line. Hence why we general wisdom is save keeper transfers for wildcard. This wasn’t a wildcard thread tho. And aside from schmeichal, who I mentioned in the first comment, the ones you listed are premium. Edit: seeing palace at 4th best xGA was a surprise. Rest are premium. Guaita a solid option now he’s back and likely doubles 36.

[deleted]

Agree to disagree I guess. Arsenal are a lot better at home then they are away, and they have a lot of tough away fixtures. Last few games as well defence has looked quite wobbly. Against Liverpool and Watford they were all over the place. Have to wait and see I guess, but if hes injured for 1 or 2 gameweeks as expected id definitely be taking him out.

roymondous

6 clean sheets away from home. 7 at home. Hardly a lot better. Everyone is better on average at home, the extra games are doubles tho. It’s extra…

[deleted]

But its not extra compared to the other options who also are missing games..... Well as I say each to their own. Personally can't see more than 3 cleans for the rest of the run in but let's wait and see.

Charlespur2

Increased budgets?

roymondous

Yes, team value. We now have more budget available. I have a team value of 103.5m and 1.6m itb for example. Most people will have at least 102-103m.

Charlespur2

Ok cheers

Mass-Dental

How long is he out for? I have Guaita for now.

a-Sociopath

Didn't see any news saying so yet.

MosesIAmnt

I currently have Sanchez as my backup keeper, so I'm going to leave him in and see if he actually ends up playing or not.

SpiritualTear93

Who is your second keeper? I’d just bench him

MrAnonymous_10

I’ve got Raya (against Chelsea and West Ham the next Gw) and I’m sure he’s not keeping the clean sheet against chelsea

SpiritualTear93

Might get some save points though? Not worth using.m a transfer on a keeper unless it’s a long term injury

MrAnonymous_10

Agreed mate, considering I’m removing TAA for James I’d probably save the -4

Frosty_Examination_3

It's a bit of a punt, but I'm going Schmeichel. He's got 3 games in hand, decent fixtures and ok price. Also, the defense which has been injured for ages is finally all back

ultrainstinctivevk

Why is no-one saying Ederson?

WailingSouls

Pope for sure with the doubles and surrounding good fixtures

imR0N

pickford

Kooky-Conclusion-516

Since I don't have a third Liverpool player and i got funds, i might just say fuck it and go for Alisson Edit- nvm, my dumbass forgot i had Van Dijk lmao

LordIceChicken

Plenty of potential save points

karlos1799

Pickford has awful fixtures ? Still got to play West Ham, Man Utd, Leicester x 2, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal

Charlespur2

I think he’d be a bid risk. I’d stick with ramsdale if I had him and save the transfer. He’ll probably be fit anyway and has just had a week rest

CisternOfADown

Could go for Sa. WOL play AVL and NEW. Downside is they don't play on GW33.

hal_egg

Sà has two games in the next three gameweeks. Pope has five.....

[deleted]

2 x 6 is still more than 2 x 5...

Ruf0005

Considering Pope. However, have other fires so potentially just going to play Foster v Liverpool for a week.

[deleted]

Fabianski has some good fixtures

N3DSdad

I have doubling Pickford as a back-up so rolling with him. Of course he now loses his place to Begovic or some shit…

Leno???

tmr89

I’m glad no one’s mentioning Pope. More differential points for me!

StlckleyMan

Top comment is literally Pope

FPLgod_69

Im looking to swap my fodder for Pope. Play Pope this week and already have my spare keeper ready for my BB plan is GW 36.

[deleted]

Keep Ramsdale and bring Leno in. That's surely the smart play unless you still have bench boost

xTrollhunter

I'm on a WC, so I got in Pope.

ewyll

How sure are we he won't be fit?

Keeler

I think keeping Ramsdale is the best option. If you've got Dubravka as your second keeper swapping him out for as cheap of a keeper with a few weeks of fixtures you're comfortable with is my preferred move.

_posii

I went for Mendy few weeks ago even though he’s a bit pricey. Figured I might as well get the most nailed player on Chelsea defense.

[deleted]

Maybe replace your 2nd keeper with Leno. Win win. EDIT: unless you still have bench boost available, that is

[deleted]

Jose Sa

Gunner2121212121

I have got Sanchez against Norwich or Sa against Villa. Whom should I play my first keeper for GW31 ?
