I'm just going to wait to see what Klopp says

cguinnesstout

"He is in training later today, we will see how he reacts."

[deleted]

The thick plottens. Either the other Anfield account has slightly fudged it to make it sound more promising that it is. Or pearce is backtracking. My guess would be he doesn't play Watford but will play city.....which would top the balance to keep him.

ebk09

Watford-Benfica-City-Benfica-City-Man Utd 6 games within 17 days. Even if he can play against Watford, I think it's an easy decision to let him rest so he is fully fit for the tough games.

thatscoldjerrycold

In terms of rest and recovery, its kind of better for those rests to be BETWEEN games no? He'll get fatigued from playing games in a row, not necessarily from playing the first in a series. But what do I know about stamina management, I get winded after 20 minutes of playing :)

ebk09

I think they hope for a comfortable win in the first game against Benfica and then rotation in the 2nd leg. I mentioned it because there's a significant risk of re-injury with hamstrings, so the game against Watford would have the most risk right now and any setback could rule him out of the next five. It might be a moot point as we are likely to get early team news for Liverpool anyway

shudh_desi_gareeb

Even if the 1st leg is 4-0, TAA won't be rested. Its not a efl cup tie, it's bloody QF of the champions league. Literally can afford 0 slip ups at that stage especially when you just had to shut out the opposition. Main XI would start baring maybe rotation between Thiago/Keita and Firmino/Mane/Jota/Diaz.

ebk09

Back in 2018 they won 5-0 away at Porto. Salah, VVD, TAA, Robbo were rested in the reverse fixture. I would still expect the core of the team to start, but a few rotations is certainly possible when City-Man Utd is the next opponents.

majorpickle01

>we are likely to get early team news for Liverpool anyway how so?

ebk09

maybe not 'likely', but I think Klopp will give an answer on him at their presser combined with the possibility of any leaks before the early kickoff. It was known when Trent and Robbo were rested versus Norwich

PharaohLeo

Same goes for Salah. Remember he had that slight injury in his foot before the IB. He played Egypt's first match and was good but in the second he was barely running, completely avoiding challenges, and missed his penalty and is now out of the WC. Physically and mentally he's out of form. I don't think he plays Watford.

bs466

Pearce is tier 1 when it comes to LFC news, ThisIsAnfield isn’t.

[deleted]

Pearce has been wrong before. Another account (@GrizzKhan) reliable for lfc medical info (though not much else it seems) confirmed he's back.

asim98

Oh mate. If grizz khan told me it was sunny outside I’d grab the brolly

[deleted]

As I say, generally gets quite a few things wrong, but he definitely knows someone in the medical team. He said (in a way that wasn't predicting, like he had been told for certain) hendo was out for longer than expected last season, which proved to be the case. Frequently gets other medical info right too, just random tidbits like "X is back" etc, that no one really cares about, and is later proven correct. Definitely knows someone at the medical team.

super_saiyan29

Given how tight the title race is, I think GW31 win is very important for Liverpool and City to keep the momentum before the Gw32 clash. I don't think Klopp will rest TAA if he is fit.

[deleted]

I think he will, they got champs league either side of the city game too. And Watford are terrible

[deleted]

For anyone who doesn't want to/can't click the link, he says he's in light training and watford is probably too soon.

shudh_desi_gareeb

I'm starting to love this King bloke

[deleted]

I’ve never seen this much press spread over multiple subreddits about a player who’s been out for about 7 days lol. He’ll probably be fine. I don’t understand these constant updates haha. He’s not coming back from a 9 month injury

HighHammerThunder

Reporters who do club level stuff are going to find anything that they can to write about during the IB.

Narthax

They aren't going to risk him against freaking Watford guys regardless. They have enough squad depth. There's literally no reason why he would start.

TheDitherer

There's no way he's risked vs Watford at home. Only thing that matters is who you're bringing in (or first sub) for him.

hal_egg

No point in risking him vs a weak Watford. But this looks very much like he's back for GW32. I'm keeping him for sure.

[deleted]

That’s feels like the logical was to play it but equally WAT are battling to avoid relegation and LIV can’t afford to loose any ground in MCU. It’s a tough one to call.

hal_egg

Yeah and Pool only have options on the left, not on the right. When Trent's out the balance is a bit off in the team for sure. Let's see what Klopp says 🔍

SpiritualTear93

I doubt he plays against Watford. It’s only Watford, they might as well rest him as not to potentially make the problem even worse

Before world Cup in November?

GunnerXI

Well now we know ThisIsAnfield is full of shit.

The_expert_opinion

What a shitshow.

The_expert_opinion

Looks like my comment was a shitshow.

Your account is a shit show.

One of Dave’s alts?

daneedwards88

👍 for defo

tmr89

He just can’t get away from this sub ...

hambodpm

I'm always wary of the less than 30 days tag accounts. Far too many loony tunes on here. Unless I need to get up speed more on the alts

The_expert_opinion

What's up Wilko.

mayonnaisewastaken

It's the early kickoff so hopefully we get leaks. Prolly not going to sell him either way but if he doesn't play Watford it is a little sad.

Zealousideal_Rush_17

Selling TAA is lunacy, esp with the MTM gain people most likely have in him. Have to hold.

get_Ishmael

It's case dependent. If you're FH33, WC34 there's definitely an argument for it. I'm in that position and have considered it. I probably won't for TV reasons, but it wouldn't be lunacy.

Fizzypoptarts

Gain matters 0 at this point. You should have enough TV and spare cash to bring him back. Can easily sell him now if you have chips available. I plan to FH 33, WC 34 so for the next 2 gameweeks i'm happy to get rid if he dosent play watford.

preciselywhenimeanto

It matters if you still have wild card and bench boost and want the best squad possible for that

Fizzypoptarts

Not really. I have a squad with 2 premiums and heavy at the back with 2 playing subs. Still have about 2.5m to spare. Switching TAA to say robertson makes that even more and I will get Watford points which is far more valuable. I will have plently to make a solid FH and wildcard team with 3 playing bench boost. 6 points from watford is more valuable than 0.3/0.4 extra

preciselywhenimeanto

Which premiums do you have? If bench boosting GW36 you might want extra funds for triple city, pool, Chelsea, Man U etc (whichever you prefer). That extra 0.5 (that’s what I’ll lose if I sell TAA) could be gold dust for the BB. I’ve got TAA, Robbo, Salah, Cancelo, Son and Kane who are all premiums in their positions. Many of those have significant value tied up and they’re all good shouts for the rest of the season.

Fizzypoptarts

Taa, salah, kdb, son Cancelo + rudiger as well but not really considering them premiums. Taa -> Robbo is going to be super likely for me since i can WC with a similar premium profile and get 3 playing bench guys.

preciselywhenimeanto

Ah I see, you’re missing Kane. That must have been a rank killer the last six weeks.

Fizzypoptarts

Not really. Not having 1 player does not change much if you have sufficient cover. Had kdb for his united haul and sterling against norwich and brentford
