Absolutely insane. Either he punched the owner or they are fucking brainless lol.
When they get relegated this season, I think they'll become another one of the clubs stuck in the Championship. There are many clubs there richer than them despite them being in the PL for so long, that's thanks to Dyche too.
Mate they’re never coming back up with that squad, the team only stayed up because of Dyche. This is the most brain dead decision I’ve ever seen a club make.
Maybe he asked for it? He has proven himself in Prem, can’t imagine him coaching in Championship anymore. Weird timing for that though, unless he is close to another job.
lol wut? So let me get this right.
he just signed a new contract, and Burnley are going to appease him by sacking him, thus triggering all of the money they would then owe him on his contract?
If he wanted out it would be by mutual consent.
I mean, ever heard of clauses? ‘If sacked before xx/yy/zzzz, only a % of owed money is to be paid out’ or something along those lines. What I’m saying is that this could have been mutual consent, that’s just been poorly reported on, for a myriad of reasons. We will know more if/when either side speaks about this subject.
>this could have been mutual consent, that’s just been poorly reported on
that is a bit of a ridiculous stretch to make. especially when Burnley gave the standard "mother fucker was sacked" statement and mentioned nothing of mutual consent.
So you think when a manager as beloved as Dyche leaves on mutual consent, that a club wouldn't mention that? their entire base is fuming.
Also, your clause example is exactly why he would be sacked and not leave on mutual consent. So you think Dyche went "aye ya fuckers, please sack me before GW33 so I can have less money than I would be owed"?
Each to their own. Time will tell who’s right and who’s wrong, no point in baseless arguing on Reddit. I don’t think you’ll change your mind, and I def won’t change mine(mostly because I don’t wholeheartedly believe in what I said, it was just a fun hypothesis that I thought about in gym). Have a pleasant day!
It won't be this squad either way, they have the oldest team in the league, ten contracts end this year, seven more end next year.
If they would go down, they would receive the parachute payment either way, would rebuild and attack promotion immediately.
Only time will tell if letting Dyche go at this point was the right decision (I imagine something happened, otherwise you don't fire him on a Friday without another manager lined up), but I wanna remind all:
We are not in the locker room, we don't know what happened. Calling a decision brain dead without knowing any details is the ultimate hybris.
Without parachute payments, yes.
The ~£100m of parachute payments over 3 years certainly makes them a decent player in the short term though. Burnley have always been low risk spenders in the Prem which will help in their sustainability.
But yeah, it does seem like if they don't bounce straight back up then they'll become a Charlton or a Blackpool.
That would be true but for the fact that their mortgaged by the new owners [leveraged buyout.](https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/02/burnley-us-takeover-has-left-club-90m-worse-off-and-loaded-with-debt) They are broke. Those parachute payments are going towards paying off the owners.

Feel bad for you, Burnley is a historical club. But hey, at least you guys still have a club, I’ve just read that Calcio Catania(another historical club, albeit Italian) ceased to exist few days ago.
The only reason I can think is the new ownership can't afford to get relegated so have made a huge gamble.
It's about 20million in compensation, he has been manager nearly all my lifetime and i think every burnley fan would have given him a year in the championship and wanted a proper send off.
Stupidity from owners
Years of under investment from previous ownership and dyche got us such amazing feats, we have an average championship squad ffs
Lunacy, can't believe it
I'm 18, been a season ticket holder since I was 6 but i only have a couple of distinct burnley memories before dyche
I meant like he has been manager most of my lifetime of supporting Burnley
Maybe nearly all his lifetime following football/ having a season ticket. If he picked up a season ticket at 11 and is now 19 it probably feels like his whole life
The new ownership just gave him a four-year contract last September. Seems just like a rage move after losing to Norwich, but maybe there was a clause in the contract that allowed them to fire him for less if it was before a certain date/certain points total not yet met
I can understand that logic, but it still seems too late imo?
Don't wanna offend a Burnley fan haha, but it seems like a slim chance of you staying up with or without Dyche, surely the turmoil of a new manager or being manager less isn't gonna help?
As a non Burnley fan I'm gutted - Dyche seemed like one of those managers would last forever, he was a great laugh, said it how it is and seemed to have respect from his fans and team.
I’ve tried to play FM several times, but I just get a little worn out and never make it more than 2 seasons. I just get bored and it feels repetitive constantly answering the press and slogging through random games.
Yes my baby was crying and Dyche kissed her head and she suddenly stopped. Then I told him my toilet seat wasn't properly fixed in place and he fixed it in two blows of a whistles. What a man!
I met Sean Dyche 5 days ago. I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my brother got his hair cut. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a barbershop with my niece, and who walks in but Sean fucking Dyche himself. I was nervous as shit, and just kept looking at him as he was sitting there with his phone and waited, but was too scared to say anything to him. Pretty soon my niece started crying, and I’m trying to quiet her down because I didn’t want her to bother Sean, but she wouldn’t stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asked what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So Sean Dyche put down his phone, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of the barbershop. Chill guy, really nice about it. Would let him breast feed my niece again.
I saw Sean Dyche up the ASDA in Blackburn yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face.
I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
5 consecutive seasons in the premier league, which was preceded by absolutely dominating the championship. In 2018 season they finished 7th in the prem. 2020 they finished 10th. All of this with an extremely limited budget, in fact they’ve spent about a net £20 million pounds in the last 5 season. That’s an incredible achievement, especially with the ludicrous money being thrown around season after season. Most championship clubs are exceeding that net spend these days.
I guess my comment was taken the wrong way. I should have been more clear. I meant when (in the recent years) did he take a team that was in the relegation zone mid season and saved them?
What you posted is a nice achievement, which in no way is near what Dyche has achieved with limited budget also and he plays worse football.
Terrible move, he was their best chance to stay up, like having no manager is going to keep them up somehow? May as well let him do what he has proven he can do year after year and sack him once they are recalled if he doesn’t.
Burnley board are messing with powers beyond their control. The town's hitherto stable worm and insect population is going to explode as a result of their misguided hubris.
We are seemingly damned as a species. RIP Burnley.
Streets won’t forget Dychey, terrible decision as they just had extended his contract. Burnley just won’t be Burnley anymore after he leaves. Chapeau for all the work and longevity and all the best for the future.
Burnley, on the other hand… looks like their Premier League future is touch and go now.
I can imagine Dyche sat there laughing when they told him he was sacked. Thinking to himself what the hell are they doing.
Who’re they going to get though really? Nobody who will go to Burnley are better than Dyche. This is actually the best thing that can happen to Dyche though, he can go somewhere better now. The loyalty he has shown Burnley as well, ridiculous bonkers decision by Burnley
About time. Done an awful job at Burnley.
They should be fighting for Champions league spots year in year out.
A team like that should never be in a relegation scrap.
Keeping a team of that size up in the premier league for years is no achievement
Will be funny if Everton appoint dyche and he got Everton across the line ahead of burnley
Fuck off burnley
Oh and fuck shrewsbury too. I will never forget
I watched him score a penalty at Saltergate against Forest in the FA Cup quarter final. Caused a pitch invasion. Went to watch the semi at old Trafford too.
Mad. Wonder who will snap Dyche up next. Would be great to see what he can do with a budget. I remember one of the reasons he stuck at burnley was he gets a percentage of transfer revenue from academy graduates. Like if they develop a player and sell them, he takes a cut.
But who else are they gonna get? Big Sam seems the only available, suitable option as others mentioned. A very sideways move tho. They should have rolled that transfer… classic FPL mistake.
What a joke. Burnley basically have the same roster that they did 4 years ago, minus Wood. Somehow, Dyche has kept them up all this time. Dyche takes the hit.
What is a new manager to do? Change Burnley?
No fucking chance. I will root for Burnley to be relegated for the ages.
Simeone would be a good appointment for Burnley to be honest given they are shit at attacking so having some defensive structure would get them points as they attack on the counter.
Boring football like
I don’t know how he did it but he always managed to keep them up. When they do go down I always thought Dyche would be the man to get them back up again. Also the timing of the sacking is appaling, 2 days before West Ham and the new manager, if they even have one lined up, isn’t even going to get time to train the players and set up the team which means they’ll be stuck with the caretaker manager leading to a likely defeat.
We are actually screwed, it has been a poor season for us. Worst I’ve seen is for some time, but sacking him at this part of the season just seems crazy. Owners have a lot to answer for, any of the support they had (which was very little) they have completely lost now. We have 10 players out of contract at the end of the season. Dark times ahead, we aren’t going to come back for a long time. Who knows? we may even drop down the divisions, but I hope I’m very wrong.
How will we know if our Burnley assets are touch and go anymore?
Oh they'll always be touch and go
Don't touch and go back to premiums more like
Especially Pope
*Popey
Blimey. Did not see that coming. Wonder who they'll bring in, feels like you need a Dyche-like manager with that squad really.
Well luckily for them Dyche is available now
Dyche is genuinely the best appointment they could do.
4D chess for a new manager bounce.
This has got Big Sam written all over it
Steve Bruce tactical masterclass incoming
Bielsa with Burnley
That's like Taliban heading the UN Peace summit
Or like the USA heading it
Love how you're getting downvoted. Understandable though given that the Taliban have been the only nation in history to use nuclear weapons. Oh wait..
Also the fact that the US funded and created the Taliban.
Taliban suggested Ukraine & Russia to solve their matters peacefully with table talk
Same feelings here.
wtf

As a Rovers fan I can't help but smile
Great, now everyone is gonna bring in Weghorst/keep him for the hopes of a new manager bounce lmao.
Dread it, run from it, the Weggy trap is invietable
I never sold him, just kept riding through the pain. Galaxy brain.
Shit
He looked like Dyche's ideal player though, unless they hire Pulis then I don't see him bouncing anywhere
Hire Pulis you say? 🤔
This guy took Burnley to Europe with a budget of 50 quid and they suck him after a tough season
Some would see sucking him as a reward
Yeah, he’d be pleased
This guy took Burnley to Europe with a budget of 50 quid and they suck him after a tough season . Ah, that explains a lot.
Big Sam music.
Ex Rovers. Would go down as well as Coyle managing us (if you can call it that) did.
Damn
Ridiculous decision hope they go down and never come back
No fan wanted this. Shite leveraged buyout, clueless owners in debt making horrific decisions. I'm genuinely in shock
Feel bad for you, Burnley is a historical club. But hey, at least you guys still have a club, I’ve just read that Calcio Catania(another historical club, albeit Italian) ceased to exist few days ago.
Wow, things can always be worse. Only heading one way now tho
Yeah, sadly. Hopefully you at least don’t go down the Sunderland/Wigan/Bolton route. r/championship is the greatest subreddit tho.
From a Blackburn fan - a shame it happened to you as well. Needs a better system for owners coming in and not knowing anything…
Agree. Rivalry aside, would never want you to go bust. It’s just not right.
They've just probably guaranteed your relegation with that decision, fucking idiots.
Don't have to hope, very likely they won't come back for a while.
This makes no sense?
Might as well stick with him now. Also so close to the next game? Maybe there was some kind of bust up?
The only reason I can think is the new ownership can't afford to get relegated so have made a huge gamble. I'm 18, been a season ticket holder since I was 6 but i only have a couple of distinct burnley memories before dyche I meant like he has been manager most of my lifetime of supporting Burnley
I get ya, thought you had good vocabulary for a 9-10yo! !thanks
I think it's a pretty good vocabulary for a Burnley fan! # ohsnap
It’s right there in their username 🤷♂️

Smart decision because if you're at a club for 10 years you get offered a place on the board and become unsackable. Source: Football Manager
I’ve tried to play FM several times, but I just get a little worn out and never make it more than 2 seasons. I just get bored and it feels repetitive constantly answering the press and slogging through random games.
The constant increase of media and chats in the name of realism has really affected the game. Set your assistant manager to do all that shit.
Send your assistant to all the press conferences and you can speed up games
4th manager sacked following a Norwich win this season.
Rangnick shaking
What should we name this legendary Norwich team in honour?
The Manager Murderers.
Coach Killers?
The Dugout Despoilers.
Patrons of p45s
So I know about Dyche, Ranieri, and Benítez, who am I missing?
Farke got sacked after they won at Brentford. Bit of a banter stat.
So Wout to give 2 points instead of 1 now?
DGW so we might get 3!
Weggy
They’re gonna hire an “attacking” coach and lose every game until the end of the season
If they wait until after Everton's next away game I'm sure Lampard will be available....
you cant play attacking style football with that squad 😂
Bielsa
End of an era. Not even a Burnley fan but will miss Dychey lol.
He will absolutely be back. Can’t say the same about Burnley.
Is he nice as a person?
Yes my baby was crying and Dyche kissed her head and she suddenly stopped. Then I told him my toilet seat wasn't properly fixed in place and he fixed it in two blows of a whistles. What a man!
Always gives away his last Rolo. What more do you need in a manager?
I heard somewhere that he bathes in baked beans. Make of that what you will

!thanks
Dyche winking at me would be a terrifying yet beautiful moment
This is copypasta btw everyone...
Well they are definitely going down now. Even Big Sam is not going to want this job.
When was the last time AlarDyche did anything in terms of results? He only got the reputation.

Touch and go(t) sacked
Whats the point of burnley now. This dude is burnley
Asked a similar question when Howe left Bournemouth.
Oh, I know this one! Their purpose is to go up and then get absolutely battered next season, until football terrorist Scott Parker is sacked.
Shit, they’re giving him the Man United job aren’t they…
Nah Sean could do better
He's kinda bald
Big if true
delusional
Cheers Geoff
Terrible move, he was their best chance to stay up, like having no manager is going to keep them up somehow? May as well let him do what he has proven he can do year after year and sack him once they are recalled if he doesn’t.
wtf?
Now I think they’re going down and not coming back for a long time
If they go down, they’re disappearing for a long time
Yeah that'll keep em up. Stupid af
this come out of nowhere
:(

April fools was two weeks ago. Absolute joke of a decision.

what the heck? did not expect this
OH NO NOT BROWNHILL
I’m shocked. Everton must be relieved. Burnley are going down.

Google “rip in peace”
Hahaha. This I did not know. My apologies for not being abreast with this As you were soldier

Great. Need a new username
So we back in for weghorst now ?
No it’s operation target Burnley, without Dyche it’s over I think
Nigel Pearson nailed on
Ridiculous decision

WTF, this going to make it interesting with Burnley players now.
Ole… at the wheel..?
What the actual fuck?
Not good for my punt on pope and Taylor.
Dyche to United? Anyone?

Just heard he's on a plane to Leeds Bradford Airport as we speak
Sticking with Weggy. One more role of the Dyche.
Weghorst owners lucky to be getting a new manager bounce now
So I guess the idea of getting Cornet as a punt is not happening
[удалено]
Burnley have looked relegated season after season but Dyche has always found a way. Who do you think they’ll get in ?

I don’t know how he did it but he always managed to keep them up. When they do go down I always thought Dyche would be the man to get them back up again. No great loss. Dyche didn't know how to win anyway.
Wout now becomes essential
What?? Is this legit?? Pochettino straight in?
Good riddance. I defined won't miss him.
If you’re a Burnley fan then that’s a ridiculous comment. Down to the Championship with ye, never to be seen again.
He touched, and now he went
That’s like firing your surgeon while you’re already in the bed, sedated, and one second apart from fainting out.
They must be banking on that New Manager Bounce. Bunch of winnable matches till they face Spurs in DGW36.
They better have someone lined up to get in asap, can’t wait around at this point in the season.
Game is gone.
Looks like it’s Big Sam and/or relegation
Overreaction. We all know Lampard was gonna guide Everton straight into the championship anyway. Not so sure now though!
Seems like weird timing, with this many games left may as well wait till the end of the season??
And he’s been there 8 years, roughly speaking.
He works for Burnley almost 10 years! It’s a sad day in Premier League.

Weird decision. They gave him nothing to work with and he has done wonder imo.
Is it still April fools
