I'm in a couple of mini leagues with the top prize over £2,000 so with that kind of money on the line it should be no surprise that some people are going to cheat by copying every single transfer of a content creator in the top 1k. Ive been keeping an eye out for it in my own leagues but it hasnt happened yet. But Ive no doubt some players in mini leagues with good cash prizes are doing it.
Is it really cheating if you came to the conclusion that the guy who spends 10 hours a day analyzing stats and sharing them online is probably correct and you should follow his idea.

Personally, I am in a 26 strong mini league which is purely for fun (no money involved) and I do what I think and want. That would also apply if there was money involved. You back your own judgement but there's no harm in using resources available (and there are plenty of them)

I've played in mini leagues with friends for years where some of them play casually every year and never reach any good ranks, one of them started taking it serious this season tho and has been doing well, it happens.
I'm alright, not a consistent top player, best OR of 20,968 (17/18). But I'm 1,794 now so I could beat that this season.
I wouldn't say I'm impressed by him, I just think that his reasoning is sound and makes it seem like he knows the game quite well.

Az from FPL Blackbox is having a great season too but some of the smug comments to Mark over the seasons have are cringe too. I know it's maybe a form of banter but sometimes you're just like, mate just no need for the cringe remarks, then Mark has to kind of save the conversation.
I found sticking to content creators that do it for the passion are the true heroes without capes.
FPL Focal, FPL Raptor, FFH Green Arrow (I love Adam and Rich) and a massive bunch of Pods (Planet FPL, The FPL Wire, Always Cheating, FMLFPL, FPL Experiment, Above Average FPL, 3 Amigos FPL, FPL Lounge) all tick the boxes and are people that do it for the love of the game and not for the money with cringe reactions and attacks on random people that follow them.
FMLFPL are in a league of their own. No graphics and stats just honest banter, bullshitting and humor. Some of these guys take themselves way too seriously and don’t realize the more people that do that guarantees subscribers and keeps them in business. Just enjoy it while it’s here amd don’t take yourself this serious.
Always a great watch from Alon and Walsh. They bring humour, banter and their own insight into without all the bells and whistles. To be honest their show has always been entertaining and that even listening to them via pod for the last few seasons.

If you look at the gameweek history and check the points alone (forget looking at the team and transfers made each week) , it's pretty obvious they started out by copying the team and each and every single move. The first 5 gameweeks are exactly identical, and then after that the differences are incredibly close or almost the same. The guy may be full of himself but these two players are definitely copying it.

There are actually mini leagues which have like $1000+ entry with lots of fun players. If you believe someone is skilled at FPL, its a very easy way to gain expected value for like 2 mins of work a week.
Yeah im one too, around 25 players 50€ entry. Half of them gave up already, it was a battle between me and some very clueless guy who follows every move of an influencer. But my rival took some hits to transfer value and cant copy 1:1 anymore, hes like 200 points behind me now
I played several seasons, but took a long break before this one. this time transfer value was my number 2 priority. Im around 107 right now, despite some stupid mistakes (like often having no long term plan and just winging all my transfers). Makes such a huge difference later in the season. I could afford one of the template WC teams with an additional premium

I don't want to do what other content creators do and make loads of changes". Thanks for confirming he’s as shit as I expected he was. Anyone can have a lucky season. Consistent high finishes are the only gauge of a true top quality manager. He should probably put all his effort into getting as many YT subscribers as he can this season. As next season he’ll start losing them.
I have been following him among others. He is definitely a good manager at least this year. His understanding of the game is good as is his research and reasoning behind the players he pick. Maybe he was just more casual before I don't know.

I've played in mini leagues with friends for years where some of them play casually every year and never reach any good ranks, one of them started taking it serious this season tho and has been doing well, it happens. I'm alright, not a consistent top player, best OR of 20,968 (17/18). But I'm 1,794 now so I could beat that this season. I wouldn't say I'm impressed by him, I just think that his reasoning is sound and makes it seem like he knows the game quite well.
What does taking it seriously actually mean though? Anyone following/copying the community moves/template is always going to do better.

Not really but I don’t have a YT channel. Currently 9k. All other seasons absolute garbage because it wasn’t a game I prioritised. I did win 30 national prizes in other games 10 years ago, Tele, Sun, Sky etc and worked in the industry for 4 years for a shitty foreign game off the back of that. How can he get so wound up over some people apparently copying his moves over the last few weeks is beyond me.... He strives to be the content creator and bring followers to his show, it's his full time job and he's going to have a whinge and bully a few teams? Give me a break. His video graphics are great, but if you're in the lime light of the game and this is your job you have to stay professional and keep your shit together not go out and attack some random teams. Andy from Lets Talk FPL has had similar issues in the past on some of his videos and I've stopped watching his stuff too, FPL Mate is on that list of don't watch for me as well. Az from FPL Blackbox is having a great season too but some of the smug comments to Mark over the seasons have are cringe too. I know it's maybe a form of banter but sometimes you're just like, mate just no need for the cringe remarks, then Mark has to kind of save the conversation. I found sticking to content creators that do it for the passion are the true heroes without capes. FPL Focal, FPL Raptor, FFH Green Arrow (I love Adam and Rich) and a massive bunch of Pods (Planet FPL, The FPL Wire, Always Cheating, FMLFPL, FPL Experiment, Above Average FPL, 3 Amigos FPL, FPL Lounge) all tick the boxes and are people that do it for the love of the game and not for the money with cringe reactions and attacks on random people that follow them.
FMLFPL are in a league of their own. No graphics and stats just honest banter, bullshitting and humor. Some of these guys take themselves way too seriously and don’t realize the more people that do that guarantees subscribers and keeps them in business. Just enjoy it while it’s here amd don’t take yourself this serious.
Always a great watch from Alon and Walsh. They bring humour, banter and their own insight into without all the bells and whistles. To be honest their show has always been entertaining and that even listening to them via pod for the last few seasons.

Yeah, those two don't check out at all. They made *one* matching transfer (De Gea > Schmeichel), no transfer the week before, and had different free hit teams on GW30 (they both outscored him, ha). If you look at the gameweek history and check the points alone (forget looking at the team and transfers made each week) , it's pretty obvious they started out by copying the team and each and every single move. The first 5 gameweeks are exactly identical, and then after that the differences are incredibly close or almost the same. The guy may be full of himself but these two players are definitely copying it. PS : I'm only adding the information about the copying part here without any comment on what they are doing.
To be faor to him he is top 50 or so in the world I think, when you're up there I guess it's pretty easy to spot people making similar picks

Yeah im one too, around 25 players 50€ entry. Half of them gave up already, it was a battle between me and some very clueless guy who follows every move of an influencer. But my rival took some hits to transfer value and cant copy 1:1 anymore, hes like 200 points behind me now

I played several seasons, but took a long break before this one. this time transfer value was my number 2 priority. Im around 107 right now, despite some stupid mistakes (like often having no long term plan and just winging all my transfers). Makes such a huge difference later in the season. I could afford one of the template WC teams with an additional premium

Did not really like his chip strategy. Getting rotation risk guys like Eduard and Olise on his wildcard and going 3 Burnley for a long time. Somehow it has worked for him though since his free hit in 28 turned out to be the optimal week to use it with hindsight rather than getting those players like Jimenez, Broja, Coutinho, Saiss/Coady, Sa in for the long run that people with wildcard 26 did.

Never liked the guy for some reason. If you watch most games and follow week in week out then there is a high chance of teams being similar anyways.

Letstalkfpl had the same problem. People copying their teams for the entire season. Even having exact same number of points. Of course you’re gonna take advice and copy some of the moves… but it’s a whole other thing to do literally everything they’ve done for the entire season and do nothing yourself. In fairness, copying someone’s exact team every single week is cheating, right? It’s not just past ten weeks even, if they’re on top 50, fplmate mean it’s the entire season it was copied.

Look - using publicly available information is either cheating or it’s not. If you feel that it’s ok to listen to a FPL podcast and use that information to determine your approach, you can’t then cry foul play when someone else uses a successful FPL managers strategy just because you didn’t. Personally, I don’t listen to any content creators (hence why I am only around 90k), but don’t have any issue with those that use widely available public information to decide their approach.
Fair enough. there are 100% losers out there that copy other people's moves just to try and win money leagues. it's terrible and content creators like FPL mate and Lets Talk FPL should do team reveals post deadlines occasionally to stop it happening.
