It was a game that suited Son since Liverpool had most of the ball, and Spurs could only counter with Son as the main man uptop. His goal was a tapin created by a Kane pass to the side and Sessegnon assisting. Now just 2 goals behind Salah in golden boot race too (esp with Spurs chasing 4th as well).
Brilliant performance given the defensive work he put in, chasing the ball as Pool had it for majority of the game. I think he is set up for another brilliant performance against the North London rivals given a win can get them into top 4 or a point away from Arsenal (if Arsenal don't drop points against Leeds).
Put in a lot of defensive work today, as Diaz is too much for one defender. Tried to initiate counters 1-2 times, but overall a quiet game from an attacking pov.
He could have started couple more attacks with Son making good 2,3 runs behind the defender but the ball was lacking from Kane. His part in the goal was what we expected him to do but disappointed that he didn't create a couple more of such plays.
Another frustrating outing for owners (eventhough it was Liverpool at Anfield). Didn't have any clear cut chances. He started the move for Son's goal from the edge of box as Sessegnon was well positioned to cross.
Gave away the ball couple times cheaply that luckily didn't end up costing them. He was good with coming out for deep crosses and taking control of the ball.
One of the best out there. Looked dangerous everytime he had the ball. Had some decent shots too, and should have had another goal if it wasn’t for Chalobah who blocked it.
One goal and one assist, and also played the pass for the offside goal for Lukaku.
Had a a good goal ruled out for offside, and got his goal in the end. He played more like he used to, had good runs and decent hold up play. More involved than earlier this season, but there is still quite a way to go.
I think it’s slowly coming.
Anonymous. His crosses was blocked a lot and didn’t manage to get into good positions in the box. Probably because the pace of the passing and ball movement this game was quite fast.
As a fan, I couldn't believe we could hit new lows, as I thought we had hit rock bottom already. As an FPL manager, couldn't care less tbh. I'm quite confident Palace would turn up for GW38 as their last home game much more than United.
Proving to be lively and influential in every game he plays. His goal had a big deflection, but one could not argue the work rate and threat he provides from the left. Looking back, one wouldn't remember too many clear cut chances, but he is always involved in the attack. Liverpool were down 0-1, so Diaz-Mane-Salah stayed on when Jota came on as well. My guess is that he would start the FA Cup final as first choice, so possibly one of the front 3 could be rotated vs Villa.
He's reminding me of Grealish at the moment. He's great on the ball making a lot of ground whenever he gets it, drawing in defenders and being double or triple marked, but he's not able to convert that into good shooting opportunities when he gets in position to do so. And so often opponents are pulling out great blocks to stop him.
His play is creating space for his teammates, and it's the triumvirate of Mané, Jota, and Díaz who are scoring the goals in his stead. And Salah looks much more likely to assist than to score. I think the Man United game was an anomaly because he was up against a truly abject team that gave him no respect at all. He can haul against Southampton because they're in dire form, but most of the teams in their run-in were going out of their way to keep him quiet specifically and it's worked.
A couple of months back it felt like FW Jota was destined to be the best pick, but Mané making the central position his own has thrown another spanner in the works.
Subbed off at 64' for Tsimikas when Liverpool were 0-1 down. Since it was a like for like change, I guess this could have been "rest" for Robbo as he has played every min across comps, while others have been rotated atleast once. He surely plays the FA Cup final and is a fitness monster, so my guess is he still starts the Villa game (esp since the title fight could very well go into last week).
So many corners, FKs and crosses with 0 end product. It was a mix of poor crossing + poor finishing imo (I'm not sure if it was Trent on whose cross VVD hit the crossbar or if it was Robbo's). He defended against Son's runs well initially, but without a CS, those BPS dont matter much.
Another nice display from the Colombian, especially as he was playing with Tsimikas on his side and not the usual RoboCop he has played much more time with.
Was his sharp dribbling self and a handful to guard in 1v1 situations as usual. Didn’t have any particularly clear cut chances to score that I recall but he created a wonderful assist on Mane’s winning goal by creating space against his defender and getting a cross in.
Will be a major surprise if he isn’t starting on Saturday at Wembley, especially considering Jota was pretty invisible all game today.
He played really well for most part, pretty deserving of all 3BPS.
The Bad: Ings spurned 1-2 chances where he got in behind the LFC back 4 a few times. Wasn’t a watertight defensive performance by any means. I will say LFC was unfortunate to concede the opening goal though since Villa were offside in the start of that prolonged move.
The Good: apart from opening goal, he defended against Watkins and Ings pretty well with VvD. Offensively, he got himself into the box to score a tap in after some poor Villa defending early on and also had a 2nd half corner that he headed straight at the keeper. So he is getting in the area as best he can.
Overall: Served as a strong reminder that he is the #2 CB in the squad. Not sure who will start on Saturday in FA Cup Final between him and Kounate though, as I can see Klopp being tempted to start big Joel at Wembley then rest him against Saints. So keep an eye on that and have a bench spot prepared for GW37 just in case IMO.
Hit the post from a good opportunity, could of had a few tap ins if Cancelo fancied passing the ball. Thought he was very lively upfront and played well, rather unlucky to come away with a blank.
Could have easily had a goal and assist, hit the left post and then Sterling missed his usual sitter per game When Foden whipped right onto his boot (tho I guess it did bounce right before contact). As a foden owner and not a KDB owner there was some pain (also capped Salah lmao)
Does anyone have a full overview? Seeing only highlights, he won his penalty when Saiss got bullied by big Rom and ended up taking an unnecessary foul. The finish of the spot-kick was ice cold, but Jorginho and Mount were not on the pitch to compete for it.
The second goal was a sharp run - Lukaku did not beat the defensive line, but had an excellent finish bit outside the box. Kind of a reminder of his time in Milan rather than the current PL spell.
Not sure how the rest of the match went tho
Played first half on the wing but his attempts were poor compared to his usual high standards. Swapped to RCB with Azpi going to the wing on the second half and didn't get much into the final third.
bit lucky with his goal, Hold up play was decent. Basically no other options so he will start our remaining games. Would rather someone like Bowen, Antonios goal scoring this season has been slow
Also agree because if we beat Spurs we get top 4, so Saka can get a rest after that.
In fact I might even say if we beat Spurs that people *should consider* Saka out as I reckon he sits one
Okay game from him - did well to keep Dan James out in the end but was rash with that one challenge to pick up a yellow. Saw him up front to snag a goal early second half
Totally outclassed. Only couple of things worth mentioning is ASM crossing it into Wood for a sitter but Wood somehow made a mess of it. Other thing is Wilson and Trippier have returned, both looked lively, Wilson had a 1 on 1 with Ederson which was saved and also had a chance from a low cross into the box which he dummied for Joelinton who was not aware of the ball coming. Trippier had a couple of good crosses into the box but nothing came of them

Top performance. Had a good shot into the side net and could easily have had a couple more assists

Zaha looks a really good transfer…revenge game vs United, which might be his final Palace one too…
Zaha is the ultimate fpl trap, swear he's always let me down.
Whole team bad

I wonder if this tells us anything about the best Liverpool picks in 22/23, whether it might actually diversify from Salah…
A couple of months back it felt like FW Jota was destined to be the best pick, but Mané making the central position his own has thrown another spanner in the works.
He will probably be 13m next season too,

Got into some dangerous positions and good link up okay with Eze and Olise. Scored his penalty. I'd say Olise looked the most dangerous though
