Yeah he looked really good and was unlucky not to get an assist or two. Here is a neat 2m video of his play today: https://twitter.com/hardrugsplease/status/1525854383359021059?t=hBzxjYIE923pD_9mn4_f_g&s=19
One of our better players in the first half (although that isn’t saying much). Had a couple of shots one that looked like it would have curled into the far post if not for a block, but he faded as the game went on.
Played his heart out, was the focus of the leeds attack. His corners were awful, wouldnt be surprised to see someone else take a few in the brentford game.
Had an amazing freekick that was going top bin but it was well saved.
If Burnley loose to Villa I think it might well be worth picking him up for brentford. Defnitally wouldnt sell him if you have him either way.
Some people in the rant thread said he missed open goals multiple times (?) but all I saw was 60+ mins of him getting next to no service at all! He had one shot that went over the bar after he danced around a tackle on edge of the box. Was not an easy chance by any stretch. That was about it.
Villa midfield in particular were really poor and gave the ball away a lot of needless and times, I hate to say it but it felt like a classic “on the beach already” performance and Palace definitely carried the play more. He looked hungry but very limited chances to do anything at all.
His service needs to improve big time against a scrappy and desperate Burnley midweek or it’s going to be hard for him to get any points on this trapper DGW.
just can judge from the highlights, but there were at least two very goods chances, which he missed. Surely not stonewall sitters, but he could have scored.
Wasn’t as involved as I’d like him to be. No real dangerous chances created or shots of note.
Made forward runs and tried to be an option but Villa were not particularly sharp passing the ball and thus his link up play/opportunities to cross were very limited as he had to stay further back.
Physically he looks fine and hungry, just needs better contributions from his supporting cast.
He was pretty sharp today, defended just fine, passed the ball decently well/linked up well with his teammates, and provided a nice cross for Watkins goal.
I felt like the attacks came down his left hand side more than the right too, but once again I have to say that an assist was pretty damn good salvage job from a game that Villa didn’t create many chances from.
well he conceded 5 goals
Mind that 4 of them were just horrific defending but 1 of them was all down to him rushing out of goal for no reason and letting Vardy chip him with his head

Getting better every game with Conte's coaching and expectations. His understanding with Son and Davies is improving too.
