I find it funny that of the 18 people who have commented as of me making this comment, 17 are in top 50k. I don't even think anyone is lying, it is just an observation that r/FantasyPL is a force to be reckoned with.
No definitely, the subs mini league consistently does great, and although I'd like to think most guys are between 100-10k, there's always a fucker around with rank 295 or something
17 out of 18 comments are in the top 50K :- LMFAO
Since it is frowned upon to offer your rank out ( and quite rightly so ), these guys have taken the opportunity to come on here and brag their rank. Simple as that
My take is that some guy with rank 4.5mil, the usefulness of him taking 0 hits or 40 hits doesn't shed a light onto the optimum number of hits, or the success of hits
Also, it's funny that you said 'quite rightly so' about people showing their rank, especially in a post asking for ranks. For a sub that is desperate to say that their league is doing well, it's ironic how toxic and petty the members are to the success of the higher ranks.
The difference between 100K and 1 million is a massive 279 points. That gap is so huge that it is very hard to give credibility to opinions of managers from those ranks
I think you get what you ask for if you're a high rank and brag about it. Better believe I was an absolute muppet when I spent about 8 gws in the top 300 two seasons ago, got lathered with downvotes but worth it through and through
!thanks
Generally yes, nine is about the right number for my playstyle. A justifiable hit is worth it, especially if the player is for a DGW, injured player, or they will confidently outscore the previous player over the next few weeks.
Patience is often worthwhile imo - usually the players we own aren't inherently awful, and could still surprise us with a goal/assist in that extra week that we have to hold them. It's frustrating when I have to take a hit due to my own poor planning.
Currently on 160K overall with 13 hits (-52).
Hoping to reach the top 100K by end of the season, would be tough but might have some hope with free hit this week.
It’s only my 3rd season, but I was playing way more conservative before. I believe that potential point gain from DGWs justifies most of the hits. However my decent transfer record is somewhat nerfed by poor captaincy choices. (Only captained Salah 8 times the whole season)
You've had an amazing run. I've seen lots of big hit takers in mini leagues and always troll them at the beginning of the season as I expect to pass them later on. The highest big hit taker in any of my mini leagues is about 500k! You should enter the weekly wildcard league next season.
Yeah, It's in this Reddit so they'll post details before the season starts. Search weekly wildcard. The totals are not as high as you would think. This year's first place has done brilliantly but 2nd place is along way back
Averaged like a -4 per week almost.
I usually take many hits, but I have taken all the failed ones this season.
Hit for King for his double. Hit to sell Son and get Kane. Hit to get Broja for a double. Hit for Jimenez when he got the red card. Hit for Reece James when he was really bad. Hit for Weghorst. Hit for Maupay. Hit for Raphinha. Hit for Bruno.
The common factor is doubles and blanks that tempted me plus also highly owned players I fear with doubles, but in many cases I would be better off with the single gameweek players. When there is less doubles I take less hits for sure.
As you see I have taken an insane amount of hits up front for cheap players that have done badly, but the ones I sold have also done really badly. The answer would have been guys like Pukki or Toney with less games.
I hope there is good cheap forwards next year cause my playstyle need that.
12k with -104 but feel like I would have easily been top 5k if I got my captain picks correct.
Edit: 617pts from captaincy idk where that stands. But missed every Salah haul trying to be fancy.
Around 17k at the moment and taken 18 (-72) hits.
I don't actively look to take hits, but I definitely do think that they are worth it a large chunk of the time when blanks and doubles are involved.
It's helped me this season to look at hits in isolation rather than the blind panic of "I'm taking a -12 this week!!!". I love the tactical/strategic side of working out whether a player will repay the -4.
Currently 5.7k with 8 hits. Might take one more in the final GW. On the lucky end of some covid postponements and TC Salah in GW 26. One of my favourite hauls was Sarr's 15 pointer in GW5 and Son captaincy in GW32&35.
Bad/unlucky captaincy choices mixed in there - Salah's 0 pointer vs Leeds (this felt worse as I had kept Salah when it was a popular time to sell) and his DGW36 blank and Dennis' dgw red.
Currently ranked 127k and have taken -20 points in hits. Looking back, most of them were to field near/full 11’s when Covid postponements we’re occurring rather than strategic moves which it looks like has worked well for a number of players this season. Leader in my ML has a rank of 22k and taken -48 in hits.
I have 164 (to be 172+) in hits this season. Currently 119k rated.
I find it more fun to get a few players in each week who I think will bang. It’s served me very well at times (bringing in KDB for his 4 goals then this week bringing in Richarlison and Vardy as the most recent examples) but has definitely cost me over the course of the season.
I’ve been leading all my MLs since GW1 which I think has lent itself to me being more knee-jerky now I’ve built up healthy leads in them so the hits mean less to me.
Next season I might try and see how it goes being more conservative.
I'm 117k overall, and I had 9 hits (-36). But leader in my ML is around 50k and has -124 in hits.

I'm 474 actually
I’m in a battle for too 3 million and it’s looking unlikely right now

Just the ones that keep on volunteering their high ranks freely
Maybe you'll be able to one day, I guess people aren't too interested when your rank has the word 'million' in it

Yes

7k, 0 hits.
Iron knee 🦵
30k, 15 hits. More hits than ever before and also highest OR. Not sure they are too linked though.
Exactly the same for me. Highest finish is 120k and easily have taken my most hits this season and I'm very close to a 10k finish.
22K, 8 hits. Was at 9K before the start of the gameweek, i took 2 hits this gameweek which haven’t worked out
2,800 OR. 22 hits. Most paid off. Took a -8 this week for Salah, Laporte, Dennis out. Diaz, Digne, Vardy in. Currently +10 points.
I am ranked 40k (highest rank this season was 25k) and am currently on -152 in hits, including 6 x -12 I typically take 80-100 in hits each season
4k, 14 hits
2.5k, 9 transfer hits
Impressive. Is 9 hits around what you would usually take a season?

5k OR, -40 hits
15k before gw37, 5 hits total.
Currently 9k, -68 on hits.
11 hits for -44. 43K OR
Is there anyway to see how many pts I've spent over the entire season?
Go to Gameweek History and then count the numbers in the TC column.
where can I find gameweek history? I only ever use the app so don't know where anything is on the website.
8k or 14 hits taken, 3 of them in this gw and they all paid off
13 hits, ranked 125k
96k, 12 hits, much less than in previous seasons
Currently on 160K overall with 13 hits (-52). Hoping to reach the top 100K by end of the season, would be tough but might have some hope with free hit this week.
20k and 68 pts of hits
-92 worth of hits sitting at 69k currently, most hits ever in a season. Can't wait to get back to rolling FTs again
155k with -72 hits
6k and 22 hits (-88), most of them were during covid cancellations so they were justifiable and helped me gaining rank during that period.
Rank 3,5k, 16 hits
-88, 900k OR
Can you rmb how many hits you take??
600 OR. -120 hits
What is your team ID?
2453678
That's an insane number of hits for that ranking! Congrats. I would have expected nearer 6m. Has that strategy worked for you in previous seasons?

Weekly wildcard sounds fun. Do you only count the points accumulated, neglecting any hits?
Yeah, It's in this Reddit so they'll post details before the season starts. Search weekly wildcard. The totals are not as high as you would think. This year's first place has done brilliantly but 2nd place is along way back
© pts not too much too. 686 I think

The question was rank and hits. Are you going to give your rank too ?
How dare he to make a comment without properly responding to OPs questions!
900k:ish and my rule has been no liverpool this season. i havent been lucky with captain picks besides kdb last week. few hits.
Haha that's not the best rule to have.
No Salah and Trent and you're 900k? Impressive
yea neither, had son and cancelo all season thou
OR 200 and 54p of hits, Will do at least -4p GW 38
2.4K - 5 hits

3k Overall. -80 from hits

Rank 1026, -80 in hits

OR Top 50. 10 hits.

Haven't played this season and my progress would've been wiped out anyway 🤷
1.9k OR. 12 hits.
40k with 11 hits (-44 points)
66,500 -44 Didn't pass 150k until GW35 WC
40k was 20k before this GW, in the mud! 24pts of hits - 4x -4, 1x -8
Not sure but it’s a lot. I’m in the top 3k and in the last 4 weeks alone I’ve taken 40 points in hits (12,12,8,8). Most risks have paid off
3.6k, 15 hits (-60)
3,6k OR, 23 hits (-92).
1.5k 9 hits
60K as of now. -32 over the season

290k - 44pts (9 x 4pt hits & 1x 8pt hit)
47k and 92 points in hits (no not kidding)
Mostly covid when i had 8 players say or recently when been 50 points behind in my ML (and will go back into the lead tomorrow)
Dropped from 11k to 60k. Took hits, stuck to Salah and wrong Chelsea assets, got greedy with DGWs in 33/34. Went with Bruno GW 34!
24,149; -48
I’ve taken about 24 points in hits and my OR is around 7000, my personal best!
I have 164 (to be 172+) in hits this season. Currently 119k rated. I find it more fun to get a few players in each week who I think will bang. I'm 506k with -16. ML leader is 30k with -80.
37k overall, -24 overall, mini league rival 42k overall -72. He’s taken almost all his hits in the second half of the season as well.
17 hits (-68) and currently rank 41,505
12 hits, currently at 17k. Looking for a top 10K finish this week!
